Blue lines in MPEG-2 compression

The source is from a ProRes mov file, the length is about an hour. But this ONE SECTION of less than 1 minute is producing some flashing blue lines on the top of the screen.
It is NOT present on the source timeline nor the source quicktime export.
I've tried EVERY setting of upper first/lower first. But the only way the blue lines go away is if I compress as PROGRESSIVE.
But I can't compress it as progressive, because it looks stroby and looks bad on a TV. (Looks fine on a computer)
(I've also tried compressing in Adobe Media Encoder, and Cleaner XL) (same results)
What can I do to fix this? Help!!
Here is a link to a screenshot.

The final output for this file is DVD Studio Pro.

It sounds like you are Sending to Compressor directly from the FCP timeline. You can try exporting out a standalone QT movie and then encoding that with Compressor. Or you could render/export a standalone movie of that section of the timeline, reimport, and then try Sending To Compressor from that sequence.

  • I bought a refurbished HP P2-1013W and it will show some blue lines on the screen and lock up.

I purchased this pc in April but did not take it out of the box until recently.  Set it up for my parents and it keep getting the blue lines and locking up.  There is no particular situation that causes it to freeze.  I did the system restore to factor defaults, worked fine for a couple of days and now it is doing it again.

    Hello ddolson69,
To rule out the monitor as being the issue we need to first test it on another machine. If the problem persists there we know the monitor is the cause. If the monitor works fine then we know we have the issue with the system.
Are you using an integrated video card or are you using a video card that has been added to a PCI slot?
Open the computer up check the fans and ensure all fans are working properly and that there is adequate air flow within the machine.
If it's dirty inside clean it out with a can of compressed air. Pay particular attention to the heat sink and any fans that may be attached or around the video card.

  • Blue line down screen center

So I'm sitting on my computer at the kitchen table, and my T60 suddenly develops a thin blue line down the center of the screen. At first it only sporadically appears, but now it hasn't gone away for a couple days. The thin blue line is right smack down the center - it doesn't really show up when you're working with something a white background like Microsoft Word, it only shows up on a colored background like pictures, video, etc. Any idea what the problem is here and how I can fix it?
My laptop is still under warranty and isn't that old and I take good care of it so I don't expect that the screen is seriously messed up. I'm hoping I just need to reset something.
Also, lately (last month or two?) my laptop has been getting a bit hotter than usual, especially when it's working a little harder, like if I play a video etc. The fan can get quite loud. Would this be at all related?

It is most likely a connection or cable problem. Do you have an external monitor that you can check this problem on? To see whether the same appears on the external monitor, if that is the case, then your GPU is probably the culprit.
Your laptop is running hot, probably due to dusts clogging your heat exhaust, so you would need to take off your keyboard and palmrest, and give a good clean with some compressed air.

  • My PC has blue screened twice in the past week so I force quit it it came back on a few times after that it is now grey screening with inch wide blue lines from top to bottom the apple logo is there and it is trying to boot up but nothing happening

My Mac has blue screened a couple of times this week it started to work a couple of times after that but now it is grey screening with inch wide blue lines from top to bottom the apple logo is also there it is trying to boot up again but won't. Not sure don't know anything about how to fix things but I suspect the fan has stopped working as I can't hear one. The problem I have I now live in Turkey and I am 1000 km from the nearest apple shop which is in Istanbul I believe and I now live in Didim, Altinkum I don't trust the everyday Turkish shop to take it to as they will tell you they know how to fix it but will probably make it worse, typical in Turkey. Please can someone help as we use it for our business and obviously I need it up and running ASAP I am using IPad and iPhone at moment but can't access my files which are on PC.

    Thanks for that information!
I'm sure I will be calling AppleCare, but the problem is, they charge for the phone calls don't they? Because I don't have money to be spending to be on the phone with a support service.
In other things, it seemed like the only time my MacBook was working was when I had Snow Leopard without the 10.6.8 update download that was supposed to be done to prepare for OS X Lion.
When I look at the information of my HD it says that I have 10.6.8 but that was the install that it claimed to have failed and caused me to restart resulting in all of the repeated problems.
Also, because my computer is currently down, and I've lost all files how would that effect the use of my iPhone? Because if it doesn't get fixed by the time OS 5 is released, how would I be able to upgrade?!

  • 13" Macbook pro.. Screen washout?? IDK White and blue line on the sides..

Noticed lately that I have some LED washout on the left and right side of the screen that comes in about 1/2 inch, also the bottom has a crazy blue line washout.
What is all the terms used for monitor problems.
    Bleed, washout, ghosting and etc.
    Thanks

I suggest taking it in for testing and diagnosis. Kernel panics may be either hardware or software related.

  • HT1386 i have an iphone 4s. Im getting the iphone 5s for christmas, but i do  not have my phone backed up, and my phone is not working and my screen is covered with blue lines. I need help.

My iphone is not working, i was planning on getting the iphone 5s for christmas, but i do not have my phone backed up on itunes. On my screen are these blue lines across on my screen, and i cant see anthing and i do not know what to do. I want to back up my phone but i cant see my screen to back it up. I need help badly. Thanks apple hope you can help me in this matter.

You wouldn't need to see the screen to backup unless you have a passcode on the device. Is that the case? You should be able to plug the device into the computer with iTunes and just select backup now.

For instance, DigiDNA's DiskAid will let you extract your messages from the phone in human-readable format. Like .pdf.

  • I repaired a cracked iphone 5c screen now I have a black screen with a vertical blue line on the left hand side of the screen. please help!!

    Hi all,
Please help, I repaired an iphone 5c and have now tried two different lcd screens on it but all I get is a black screen or a black screen with a vertical blue line on the left hand side of the screen. I definitely have the cables connected properly etc and before I repaired it the phone had a cracked screen and there was a picture on it.
I have tried hard reset and nothing. I have tried connecting to iTunes but it asks me to confirm on the iPhone which I can't do as there is nothing on the display.  I have tried randomly pressing all over the screen but it doesn't work. So I can't even try restoring it on iTunes.
Please help any advice will be appreciated! I successfully have repaired iphone 4's and iphone 5 before but this is the first iphone 5c.
    Thanks.

  • Please help me get rid of that stupid Navigator and that annoying voice and blue line once and for all!!!!

    Hello,
I followed directions left by others and in Windows 8 there is no Explore All Settings but found Use computer without a display.  The narrator box was unchecked to begin with and I cannot get rid of the sound and that stupid blue line all over my screen.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Based on your description, I understand that you want to disable Narrator in the Windows 8.
Did you mean that had un-checked
Turn on Narrator in Use the computer without a display panel (the path: Control Panel-> Ease of Access-> Ease of Access Center->
Use the computer without a display)? Please also click Make the computer easier to see in
Ease of Access Center, there also has a Turn on Narrator option. Please check if also un-check it.
Please also refer to following article and check if can help you.

  • What is the command line equivalent of the *compress* tool in *Finder*

I have an automatic build setup for our iPhone Apps. The one issue i face everytime is that the zip file that i create in the build using zip command is always rejected by iTunesConnect server as invalid binary. When i compress the .APP folder manually using Compress from the *Finder menu*, that archive is always accepted. The size of the zip files generated is slightly different.
Does anyone know what would be the command line equivalent of the Compress used by the Finder ? I want to automate this process so that someone does not have to do a manual compress before uploading it to iTunesConnect.
    Thanks in advance,
    -TRS

    a Mac user wrote:
That is odd, are you sure you are using the command line correctly then? Because zip-ing from the command line should be the exact same one as from the utility in OS X.
It's not the same, though. As someone else pointed out, the Finder uses a program called "Archive Utility.app", found in "/System/Library/CoreServices". A quick look at the binary shows that it uses the following Unix command line apps:
    /usr/bin/macbinary
    /usr/bin/file
    /usr/bin/tar
    /usr/bin/applesingle
    /usr/bin/binhex
    /usr/bin/ditto
    /usr/bin/gunzip
    /usr/bin/bunzip2
    /usr/bin/uudecode
    /usr/bin/atos
I would have to look into how iTunesConnect accepts files.
iPhone apps are signed binaries, so if one byte is different when they arrive at the app store, they won't be accepted. The command line zip leaves out some information and so the package appears to have been tampered with and they're rejected.

  • Updated to Premiere CC 2014 and AE CC 2014 and now have blue lines/blue imprints of windows and crashes after 5 minutes of use or on start up

    iMac - 27 ", late 2012
Processor  3.4 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory  32 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics  NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2048 MB
    Software  OS X 10.9.4 (13E28)
After I updated from CS6 to CC 2014, my screen started to display blue lines and/or a blue imprint of a previously closed window, and Premiere CC 2014 and AE CC 2014 began crashing after about five minutes of use. Also, an error message popped up telling me to update my CUDA driver. I took the iMac into Apple and after updating the CUDA driver in store with an Apple associate, the error message went away. They were concerned about the blue lines, and after 3 days of hardware testing, they determined that the screen was not failing, the hardware was in great shape and the lines and crashing must be a software related issue. I took the computer home, uninstalled and reinstalled AE using the appropriate installer, and rebooted. Then I uninstalled and reinstalled Premiere using the Premiere installer and rebooted again. During the second restart a blue imprint of the Google Chrome window I had had open before the reboot was imprinted over the welcome/password screen. I typed in my password, opened up the Premiere project I'd been working on and immediately, the always dramatic message "A serious issue as occurred..." popped up. I tried opening it again, saved a new recovery copy and started to work on the project. Five minute later it froze up and I had to force quit. This happened two more times, both roughly after five minutes of use....back to square one.
Obviously, this is seriously hurting my workflow. Any advice you could give would be greatly appreciated!

... a blue imprint of the Google Chrome window I had had open before the reboot was imprinted over the welcome/password screen.
The apple guys said this wasn't a hardware error? I don't know software errors to save imprints throughout a restart. If I were to live dangerously and assume anything it would be that you got a failing graphics processor.
Ever tried cloning your boot drive and then doing a complete wipe and re-install of OS and CC?

  • Blue lines in black areas using external monitor

I am running my 13" MB Pro hooked up to a ViewSonic LED LCD Monitor (VX2250) (DVI link using generic knock off mini-display to DVI adapter).
The problem I'm having is that black areas on the monitor will have fuzzy horizontal blue lines running through them. So if I'm doing graphic design stuff that has black areas, these fuzzy lines will show up. Sometimes they are thin, sometimes they are thick.
If I move the black area around, the lines stay in the same place relative to the black area. They don't stay put relative to the screen (if that makes sense). So I'm fairly sure its not the monitor, as I would imagine they would stay in place within the monitor if the monitor had issues.
Any suggestions? Could the knock-off DVI adapter be the culprit (never had this problem on an older non-LED LCD display using same adapter). Thanks for any suggestions.

    Anyone?
