Blue or Green Screen

Hi: I've occasionally had a blue screen when I woke the Mac Mini from sleep. Yesterday, I had a green screen when I woke it up. I unplug it for about 30 seconds and when I start it up again, everything is fine. In some cases these incidents happened after I ran OnyX, Yasu, or when I repaired Permissions. Is it likely I have a hardware problem? If not, is it anything to be concerned about? I've had the Mini for about 3 month and I love it. Thanks, Jerry.

Thanks Sherry. I started it in Safe Mode and all was ok. I don't know how to run the repair disk in Disk Utility or the Apple Hardward Test. I installed Disk 1 for the system, but I couldn't figure out how to run these programs from Disk Utility. In any case, Safe Mode indicated that the Disk was ok. Thanks so much for your help. If you have the time to tell me how to repair the Disk and do the Apple Hardware Test, I'd appreciate it. I'm new to the Mac world. Thanks, Jerry.

I have had my i book for about 3 years. Recently it has just started going to this black screen, then red, blue, or green. I wiped out the hard drive and it is still doing it. Any one else face this problem. I'm trying to fix it my self before i send it to apple support

Help! My ibook also about 3 years old that has my life on it doesn't go "black", but red, blue and green stripes running vertically-- not a pretty sight when you want to get work done! Any ideas of how to fix, or what this symptom means????

  • HT201263 Blue and green screen

My iPad won't turn on. Held both buttons and got a blue and green lined screen. Help???

You have to hold the sleep and home buttons down at the same time for at least 10-15 seconds and the key is to wait until the Apple logo appears on the screen before you let go of the buttons. It can take even longer than 15 seconds.
But the fact that you are seeing this funky screen makes it seem like it could be a hardware problem. Anyway, you still have to go through the troubleshooting steps and see if anything will help restore the iPad to working order.

Can you do blue screen and green screen things on Final Cut Pro? Don't tell me how because I don't own it. I just want to know if it's possible.

  • Flashing blue and green screen

Hi, I upgraded to Quicktime Pro 7 and now no videos, wether .mov, .avi or anything show up in the player. I get sound fine...the visual is just a flashing green and blue screen. Also, this is a product I purchased, and now I am told I can't get support from an apple technician. What kinda support is that?! I can't talk to anyone who will help me troubleshoot?
Thanks to anyone out there that can help me.

Quicktime Control Panel / Advanced tab
under Video switch to "Safe mode". Quit QuickTime and any open browser and try the file again.

  • IMac (mid 2011) with HDD replaced does not start- I have grey (sometimes blue or green) screen

I had a similar issue in June and despite the efforts of Genius team nothing changed until I uninstall Flash player and reinstall the last version. So, this I did the same and it semeed to work but instead of working more than 2 months , this time it was only for one day and crashed. I had some kind of blue vertical stripes all over the screen.
I did not revived it since.
When I start in Recovery mode, after I select the disc to boot from, I get a grey screen.
I tried all other mode I know, nothing changed.
Could it be a hardware issue?

    Anyone know? :(

    Hi,
I am new to shake , I tried to read the manual as well as the Shake Training book but i just ended up in vain..
all i want is to make a blue and green screen.
    also ..

Hmm. Did you get through Apple's tutorials (you mentioned "tried to read..")? The tutorials that come with Shake are very good, at least for me.
Also, I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to do. Are you keying existing footage? Or, are you trying to shoot your own green/blue screen shot with an actor, and then composite over a background shot of NYC?
Basically need those two elements: your well-lit actor against a well-lit green or blue screen (go with green if you're shooting DV), and background footage or an image of NY. Then key your footage and composite in Shake. If your camera is not locked down, that's a whole different thing that I won't get into with you now (so, make sure your camera is locked down on a tripod and not moving, to make things easier).
But for starters you should grab a book on the basics of compositing. Wish I had something to recommend, but again, the Apple tutorials and the Shake book should be enough to get you going in the right direction. Spend some time on the tutorials, commit to them, and you'll be fine.
    Hope this helps-

  • If you haven't already, why not give "blue/green screen" a try?

Legacy FCP and FCE could always do blue (or green) screen but FCP X makes it a real doddle to get a good key.
For my test I simply used a very cheap blue bedsheet fastened to a wall and without more ado filmed myself babbling for a couple of minutes.
The resulting clip was imported into FCP X and the Keying Filter was added.
There are numerous adjustments you can make, but none of these was necessary as the result was automatically OK.
Here are frame grabs showing the original bedsheet and the final result with a street scene superimposed.
You can click the images to enlarge and examine the edges which look pretty clean........... especially considering the the lack of time and expense incurred!
Obviously anybody can achieve the above results with no effort, so take a look at this short video from Vimeo showing how some of the special effects in "The Great Gatsby" were achieved.
For a visual feast I suggest downloading it and playing on an HD TV.

Now hasn't that pro clip inspired you to try blue/green screen  ...........  or maybe it's completely demoralised you?

it is really impressive, how the automatics 'know' what is you, what is not.
now, add aside you a trackermarker, and you can create pans, camera movement etc .....

  • Where is the green screen effect in Elements 13 on a Mac

In the help manual they list different key options, such as blue and green screens.  can not find them under keying for the Mac

There is no Green Screen, Blue Screen, or Chromakey in Premiere Elements Mac (in any version that I know of).
You should have Videomerge which some suggest for this type of effect. I do not.
Please look at the Difference Matte under fx Effects/Keying/

Please consider and let us know the outcome.

  • Can you do Green Screen/Blue Screen/Chroma Key on Adobe Premiere Elements 12 for mac?

Can you do Green Screen/Blue Screen/Chroma Key on Adobe Premiere Elements 12 for mac?  If not, what are the alternatives?

    JimbobT
ChromaKey, GreenScreen Key, and BlueScreen Key are not included in Premiere Elements Mac.
Some suggest Videomerge as the alternative. I do not. But Videomerge is not THE alternative.
Instead, I prefer the Difference Matte as a substitute for the 3 absent keying effects. Please check out my blog post on that which includes
    the how to.
    http://atr935.blogspot.com/2013/05/pe11-difference-matte-as-substitute-for.html
The suggestion has met with good results according to the feedback that I have gotten to this.
I am strictly a Premiere Elements Windows user who does not prefer Videomerge even in Windows.
Please review, consider, and let us know the outcome.
    Thanks.

  • When I apply the Key for a green screen, everything blue turns purple. How can I correct?

When I apply the Key to an evenly lit greenscreen, anything blue turns purple. How can I correct this?

There's way too much blue in that green screen
    This is green
Try pulling down the spill level and reducing the spill tint. You're probably going to have to tweak the color selection manually.

  • Special effects... Chroma key  blue/green screen

Hello, im new to Final Cut, My friend is giving me his Final Cut Express HD 3.0 package and Im wondering if I'll be able to use a green screen/blue screen effect with this software, and if not, which software could you recomend.
    Thanks in Advance.

Sorry Edirol if you took umbrage - my comments were intended as a light hearted quip.
As a peace offering, take a look at this old thread where I and others have made a number of suggestions to help new "chromakeyers" - not the least being how to do it on the cheap!

  • FCPX: When applying the keyer to green screen, is there a way to change the resulting color from black to another color (cream, blue, etc)?

Currently working on a project where I shot various video tributes in front of a green screen.  When using the keyer in FCPX, the resulting image is represented by a black background instead of a green one.  I'd like to change that color to blue, tan or something else so that when I apply a picture in a portion of the background, the remaining background looks fine.  More specifically, I plan to put images over the right shoulder of each person in the video.  The image will only take up about 1/4 of the background and the rest of it currently just looks like a black screen.   Thanks in advance for any advice.

Tom now I have another follow-up.  So i have the original green screen with the keyer applied which, emptied the background.  Now I've applied a color generator below that in the timeline and it generates a color.  How do I now go back and add the photo in the upper right corner of the clip?  Ultimatly the goal is to have the subject, with the color backdrop and a photo above their right shoulder.

  • Blue screen, or Green screen - which is less problematical

    Setup: Canon HV20, FCP6.1, MBPro 2.33
I have a Blue screen and am considering getting a Green screen. The Blue, being pretty dark, seems to cause problems for the camera, esp. with contrast with the actor that make for tricky lighting.
Just curious if others have this problem and if Green screen carries its own set of problems--too bright, etc.
Also if anyone knows a good place to buy the Green screen let me know.

Elmer, nice to see you here rather than at 2-pop.
The green screens from http://www.eefx.com/ are among the best I've seen.
I'm writing a basic green screen tutorial using one of its 10x9 foam backed products and we got a pretty good key using a HVX200 and some basic lighting.
    You also mentioned the HV20.
Take a look at this tutorial excerpt:

While lighting is crucial, from what I've researched, green seems to be a better election
