Blue print,gap analysis

hi
i am a newly certified sd consultant. i am very much confused with business blue print, realization and gap analysis. if any one having real client  docs i will really apprecieate

A typical Business Project comprises of 3 stages -
1) <b>Business Reengineering</b> - divided into three tasks -
<b>a)AS IS
b)TO BE
c)BLUEPRINT</b>
Disagreement between <b>AS IS</b> and <b>TO BE</b> leads to a <b>GAP</b> (between knowledge of R/3 reporting functionality and knowledge of R/3 business transactions)
Using GAP Analysis (altering company structure or modifying SAP as per the business requirement, GAP is reduced that results in different values of TO BE till a status of 'TO BE without GAP' is achieved . This is called <b>BLUEPRINT</b> .
2)<b>Realization</b> , where you actually implement the Blueprint
3)<b>Go Live</b>

  • GAP ANALYSIS AND TICKETS

    hi Gurus,
I need some 6 real time examples relating to Gap Analysis and Tickets of SAP SD. Please could you send me all the details with the scenarios and solutions to my email if [email protected]
    Thanks,
    Farhan.

    Hi Farhan,
Gap means small cracks. In SAP world or in Information Technology world, gap analysis is the study of the differences between two different information systems or applications( ex; existing system or legacy system with Client and new is SAP), often for the purpose of determining how to get from one state to a new state. A gap is sometimes spoken of as "the space between where we are and where we want to be."
Gap Analysis is undertaken as a means of bridging that space. Actual Gap Analysis is time consuming and it plays vital role in Business Blueprint [AS IS Process] stage.
A through Gap Analysis will identify the gaps between how the business operates and its needs against what the package can can't do. For each gap there will be one of three outcomes which must be recorded and auctioned,
    1. GAP must be closed and customized software can be developed
    2. GAP must be closed but software cannot be written therefore a workaround is required
    3. GAP does not need to be closed.
A point worth mentioning here is that at time people confuse between user-exits and Gap Analysis. User exits are standard gate ways provided by SAP to exit the standard code and we can write our own code with the help of ABAP workbench, its not new functionality which we are trying to build in sap but its slight enhancement within the same code.
Gap analysis is start point of Realization and once business Blueprint is finished we have to find the realization of sap system for client requirement and there will be certain gaps when compared to system fit. Those gaps can be closed either by re-engineering of business process to fit with SAP or we have to use USER exits in case of small deviations or complete enhancements with the help of ABAP to fit with the SAP system.
The Gaps can differ from company to company. Most commonly, however, missing functionality is industry-specific.
    Examples:
    1. MGM Studios and Lycos sometime back worked with SAP to develop its new intellectual property management and media advertising management functionality, respectively.
    2. A leading Oral care product company wanted the promotion of free-goods where they wanted 'Buy one get 2 different products free'.
A2. A through gap analysis will identify the gaps between how the business operates ad its needs against what the package can and can't do. For each gap there will be one of three outcomes which must be recorded and actioned.GAPs must be closed and therefore customized software can be developed to close the gap. In some cases GAP must be closed but software cannot be written therefore a workaround is required in other words a business process change is recommended to the client.

    Cut Over Plans
Detailed plans need to be developed for cutting over from the old system(s) to the new.   Parallel runs of what will happen over the conversion period using test data, convert and watch for a period after wards to ensure nothing unexpected happens.
    Train Users
Well trained users will support and defend the system on site.  Unsupportive users will continually undermine the system and eventually it will be replaced.   Therefore the more effort you put into helping the users master the system early the better.
Do award points if you found them useful.

  • Example of SAP HR GAP analysis

    Hi all,
Can anybody pls tell me an example of GAP found during GAP analysis in either SAP Payroll or TM? I did search the forum but there are mostly definitions of GAP analysis.
    Useful answers will be awarded.
    Thank you
    R S

    Hi,
GAP is some thing where Software consultant give BEST business pratics to the client which is running across all over the world and which is also support SAP application and client is not accept the changes which is recommoanded by consulant. So this is GAP. All in broad way GAP is difference between software
consultant view and client view clash at some point.
GAP analysis is done in Blue Print stage. It aims to understand what can be done with the standard SAP and how the client actually wants a particular scenario to be processed. And to understand the GAP between the actual & required scenarios.
    Hope this helps,

2 gaps are,In customer master data the client requirement needs legacy customer number which can be solved with User exit.,
In sales order we need customer Phone number,We can use userexit
These 2 are gaps which we cant find in Standard SAP
    1. if client want new field in customer master like nearest fire station ..
    2. order will be uploaded directly with out va01. through BDC... bcoz lot of orders if they get daily, they can opt these...
Movement type 1 uses when a material have two movement types.. like example 101 and 261.. one is incomeing raw material and and going for production...

  • Hi experts, need info on blue print

    hi experts,
in sap sd implementation,at blue print stage we come across some gaps, will you please provide some info, what will be the regular gaps come in sap sd,how can we fill the gaps and what kind of tools we will use at blue print stage, and how the tasks assigned to the consultant.
    with regards
    siv

    Hi there,
Business blue print is prepared when the proj is in analysis. You will understand what the business process is. You will study whats AS-IS process & TO-BE process. Then you will try to map it in SAP. If the business process cannot be mapped in standard SAP, then you will have a GAP. GAPs can be fulfilled through customer exists or customized code.
You can find the relevant data in http://www.sapfans.com/sapfans/asap/be_04_e.htm

  • SAP HCM Implementation: Blue Print Phase

    Hi,
I have been wondering if there are any template of generic questionnaires to be asked to the client during the TO BE info gathering which is compact and covers all aspects of an organisation. It would also be good to understand what kind of generic solutions that a consultant could offer the client.
I would be happy to understand the above scenarios on a very generic perspective.
    Thanks in advance.
    Papri

    Hi Papri,
As others said it depends on the client business..
for an example...i am writing some points to give you an idea
you should prepare the questionnaire to get all the necessary information to configure in SAP.
The business blue print if the final doc to start your implementation
during this stage we need to identify the clients current business process and you will map in SAP  ,, in BBP we maitnain the as is and tobe how we map it to sap and also we identify anf Gaps
if you are gathering info about OM for instance
u2022     what is their current org structure
u2022     how many divisions and departments the do have
u2022     how they defined is it based on functionality (eg:sales dept, R&D dept)
u2022     how many jobs they do have in the company ,what kind of positions they do have  etc
    for  PA module
u2022     for enterprise structure you can ask the client how many company codes (how many balance sheets they prepare)they do have,
u2022     what all the location the company established(for PAs and PSAs)
u2022     how many employee groups they do have (reg ,contractor, temp etc)
u2022     to configure Actions you can ask them how they process/maintain employee master data,
u2022     what is the process they follow from employee hire to retire/separation
u2022     what all they maintain during hiring an employee (so that you can put those infotype s in infogroups for actions)...
u2022     how many wagetypes they do have (for 8 infotype) how they process salry monthly or weekly(to define payroll area)
    for time management
u2022     what all the shifts they do have for their employees, general or afternon shift etc ,
u2022     does the shifts wil change periodically or constant etc
u2022     what all the leave types they do have CL,SL ,EL,
u2022      how many leaves quotas , how many leaves for the quotas(SL 12 days etc)
u2022      how the leaves will be credited, month end or starting etc
u2022     does the leaves will be carry forward or not
how they track attendance , does they have 3rd party system to track leave management or payroll calculations etc
hope it throws some light on your question...
