Blue Progress Bar Doesn't Finish

Greetings!
For the past three weeks, Safari has been tempermental in downloading web pages. The blue progress bar will get maybe 1/3 across and stop. No twirling ball, no freeze-up, I can stop and refresh...eventually it works. Sometimes there is no problem at all.
It seems to be affecting IE and Firefox as well. Mail has also seem to be having trouble sending messages periodically.
I've cleared the cache, history, favicons...so maybe it's something from outside of Safari??
Also, no Internet Regulating programs and I have a cable modem connection.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

  • Yahoo Webmail Blue Progress Bar Freezes adding attachments

Using Mac OS X, Leopard 10.5.6 and Apple Safari 3.2.1. There is a bug when using Apple Safari with Yahoo Webmail. Whenever you attach a file (while composing a message), the blue progress bar (fills in behind the website address window) freezes. Everything continues working, but the blue progress bar freezes abouit half way. This always happens when attaching a file. The ONLY way to get functionality back is to reset safari. Also, if you open another tab, that other tab functions correctly even if the first tab (with Yahoo) is still frozen. All updates have been applied to the computer that are available. The blue progress bar is safari's way of telling you a website is loading.

    Hello,
This issue only happens when using Yahoo Webmail while using the Mac version of Safari.
Only a RESET safari returns normal operation to the blue menu bar.
    Here are steps to reproduce:
1.) Login into Yahoo Webmail (The new version, not the classic version), compose a message, attach a file. The blue menu bar that fills in behind the website address will fill in about 1/2 way and stay there. You can continue to finish and send your email, but the blue bar stays frozen. If you open a new tab, the new blue progress bar works fine, but the first tab remains frozen. Again, everything is function. The only way to fix is to RESET safari.
I have tried other accounts and computers. It even happens at the local Apple retail store. Oddly enough, this issue does NOT affect the Windows XP version of Safari.

Repair Permissions can be found as an option in...
    Applications>Utilities>Disk Utility
Or my prefered method, get Applejack...

After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, then when the prompt shows, type in...
    applejack AUTO
Then let it do all 5 of it's things.
At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.

  • In the course of migration MacBook switched off due to low battery. After recharging progress bar doesn't change.

In the course of migration MacBook switched off due to low battery. After recharging the progress bar doesn't move. How to continue the migration?

I've never seen the Migration Assistant resume from sleep - for that matter I've never seen a computer go to sleep while MA was running. (If there's a next time, don't try this without the computer being plugged in.) You will probably have no choice but quit the migration and start over.

  • Progress bar doesn't work if enableRedraw is false? Script UI

    Hi,
I just noticed in Peter Kahrel's ScriptUI manual (version 2.0) this note:
"Note: in scripts that use progress bars, you cannot set
app.scriptPreferences.enableRedraw to false. If you do, the progress
bar doesn't display correctly. This is on Macs only."
Not having a Mac to test this on, I'm wondering what "doesn't display
    correctly" actually involve?
    Thanks,
    Ariel

    Thanks Uwe.
Anyone who has a Mac and a spare moment, may I invite you to download
the demo of the "Create Character Styles" script on my website:
    www.freelancebookdesign.com, under the "Scripting" tab.
It has a progress bar and enableRedraw = false (hence my interest in
this subject), and it never occurred to me to test it on a Mac.
If someone could test it on their Mac and tell me what happens, that
    would be much appreciated.*

  • What happened to the blue "progress bar"?

What happened to the blue "progress bar" which was in the URL area?

    Mark McMurtry wrote:

Mark ~ From Safari's View menu, choose +Zoom Text Only+ — once that's been set, subsequently clicking the +Text Size+ icons will not change the size of the graphics, making it less likely that the page view will "go off screen".

  • Safari Blue Progress Bar and Yahoo Webmail

I have noticed that using Safari with Yahoo Webmail yields the odd behavior that when you attach a file from your computer, the blue progress bar up in the middle of the safari window freezes at some point. Everything works, but until you reset safari, the blue bar stays frozen.

  • Blue Progress Bar - PLEASE

I've stayed with Safari-4 BETA where I was able to restore the blue progress bar via a terminal command. Thank goodness... I've asked twice via "bug report" to re-institute the blue progress bar, I mean couldn't they just make it an option like TWEAK did?
Here's an interesting one: You go to this site to give feedback: http://www.apple.com/feedback/
AND SAFARI IS NOT A CHOICE FOR FEEDBACK!!!!!!
    Why not?

    Hi Steve
but I must admit, I'm not sure what this "Post it in the Level 4/5 lounge" means- it does sound rather 'men in black' or "X-Files" to me but if it motivates Apple-- GREAT!
Attaining Level 4 status - 8,000 points (4 bars next to name) gains access to a Lounge forum. In part, there is faster access to the Moderators, as well as a place to vet different issues affecting the forums. Nothing like a virtual hang-out joint to get a real feel for life.

  • Blue Progress bar

If anyone out there at Apple is reading this....
It would be very nice to have the blue progress bar back in the URL line to show the progress of a page load. It can really help to determine if there is something wrong with the page rendering or if it is the sending server just being slow.
    Thanks

    Hi Charlie
    Welcome to Apple Discussion
I agree. The Blue Loading bar is much better visually then the small dial next to the URL. With that said....
These forums are User to User based. Apple monitors the various forums, but does not necessarily respond or engage in the back and forth posts. Hence, best place to make suggestions regarding Safari is via the Safari Menu>Report Bugs to Apple. Note: Apple does not respond directly to those queries/comments, however, your input is forwarded directly to the Safari team.
The alternative is to call Apple Care and make your requests or comments directly with an Apple rep.

  • Safari 6 progress bar doesn't include images

I've noticed this behavoiur on several forums. HTML is loaded and when it ends the blue progress bar beneath url is gone, Safari jumps the the anchor, but the images on page are still loading. I may look like the page is all set so I start scrolling but again when the images stop loading Safari jump again to the anchor which is extremly anoying. I've noticed this behaviour on Mountain Lion. On my mini at work, where I have Lion, everything is fine, so progress bar vanishes after loading whole page with images. Anyone noticed such a behaviour ? Any fix ?

That didn't fix it. Have you experienced my problem or did you just offer a common solution to any Safari problem?

instead of refreshing into the blue screen with the startup progress
bar (the one before the login screen), the computer refreshed
into a light gray screen with four black rectangles (bricks) across

Planning to reinstall 10.4.9 combo from this 10.4.0 partition. Not
planning to go to 10.4.11 until everything is backed up).

    Thanks!

    Update:
Reinstall of the 10.4.9 updater using 10.4.0
partition as startup disk resolved the issue,
but Safari crashed whenever it encountered
secure website "https" and it did not do
that with the previous 10.4.9 installation.
10.4.10 did not resolve the problem, but
now running the new Safari and 10.4.11
    things seem OK so far.

    allready thanks.

    Hello Djegoo,
I would be be concerned too if I was not able to update my iPhone.  If you have not resolved the issue, I recommend following the steps in the article below for an issue like this:
iOS: Unable to update or restore

As always, it is a good idea to create a backup before hand:

  • Progress Bar doesn't look correct in Windows 7

I use a progress bar control and set ATTR_USE_PROGESS_BAR_VISUAL_STYLES attribute. It works perfect in Windows XP. The progress bar looks identical to Windows ones. Though now check how it looks in Windows 7. No matter either aero windows style is on or off, the progress bar looks very strange. It does not fill smoothly and fill not the whole control - the edges are left unfilled.
    I have attached the screenshot.
Any ideas what do I do wrong?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I use VAL_PROGRESSBAR_MANUAL_MODE and call ProgressBar_Start (for any case).
I call the updating routine manually and call ProgressBar_SetPercentage function.
After calling it I call ProcessSystemEvents and ProcessDrawEvents (for any case).
It does not matter either another control is shown over it ot it's own label is being placed over the progress bar. In both cases it is drawn incorrect.
I noticed that it try to draw progress bar not a Windows 7 style (one filled green bar) but Windows XP (separated green bars) sometime. So perhaps there is a problem with progress bar drawing routine (just a speculation).
I use CVI 2009 without SP1 (and I did not find a note about fixing something similar in SP1).
As for the outline around the green portion of the progress bar. I do not mind, I just wanted to know if I do something wrong.
    Thanks for reply.
