Blue Progress Bar - PLEASE
I've stayed with Safari-4 BETA where I was able to restore the blue progress bar via a terminal command. Thank goodness... I've asked twice via "bug report" to re-institute the blue progress bar, I mean couldn't they just make it an option like TWEAK did?
Here's an interesting one: You go to this site to give feedback: http://www.apple.com/feedback/
AND SAFARI IS NOT A CHOICE FOR FEEDBACK!!!!!!
Why not?

Hi Steve
but I must admit, I'm not sure what this "Post it in the Level 4/5 lounge" means- it does sound rather 'men in black' or "X-Files" to me but if it motivates Apple-- GREAT!
Attaining Level 4 status - 8,000 points (4 bars next to name) gains access to a Lounge forum. In part, there is faster access to the Moderators, as well as a place to vet different issues affecting the forums. Nothing like a virtual hang-out joint to get a real feel for life.

Yahoo Webmail Blue Progress Bar Freezes adding attachments
Using Mac OS X, Leopard 10.5.6 and Apple Safari 3.2.1. There is a bug when using Apple Safari with Yahoo Webmail. Whenever you attach a file (while composing a message), the blue progress bar (fills in behind the website address window) freezes. Everything continues working, but the blue progress bar freezes abouit half way. This always happens when attaching a file. The ONLY way to get functionality back is to reset safari. Also, if you open another tab, that other tab functions correctly even if the first tab (with Yahoo) is still frozen. All updates have been applied to the computer that are available. The blue progress bar is safari's way of telling you a website is loading.
Hello,
This issue only happens when using Yahoo Webmail while using the Mac version of Safari.
Only a RESET safari returns normal operation to the blue menu bar.
Here are steps to reproduce:
1.) Login into Yahoo Webmail (The new version, not the classic version), compose a message, attach a file. The blue menu bar that fills in behind the website address will fill in about 1/2 way and stay there. You can continue to finish and send your email, but the blue bar stays frozen. If you open a new tab, the new blue progress bar works fine, but the first tab remains frozen. Again, everything is function. The only way to fix is to RESET safari.
I have tried other accounts and computers. It even happens at the local Apple retail store. Oddly enough, this issue does NOT affect the Windows XP version of Safari. -
How do you unstick the blue progress bar?
how do you unstick the blue progress bar? It most times, just sits there and the refresh button doesn't help.
1. Power cycle
Power off the router. Unplug it from the wall. Wait a while.
Plug it back to the wall. Power the router on. Wait until all the lights are lit properly.
It will take a while.
Restart the computer.
Start up in Safe Mode

What happened to the blue "progress bar"?
What happened to the blue "progress bar" which was in the URL area?

Mark ~ From Safari's View menu, choose +Zoom Text Only+ — once that's been set, subsequently clicking the +Text Size+ icons will not change the size of the graphics, making it less likely that the page view will "go off screen". -
Safari Blue Progress Bar and Yahoo Webmail
I have noticed that using Safari with Yahoo Webmail yields the odd behavior that when you attach a file from your computer, the blue progress bar up in the middle of the safari window freezes at some point. Everything works, but until you reset safari, the blue bar stays frozen.

Repair Permissions can be found as an option in...

Or my prefered method, get Applejack...

After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, then when the prompt shows, type in...
applejack AUTO
Then let it do all 5 of it's things.
At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.
The 5 things it does are...
Correct any Disk problems.
Repair Permissions.
Clear out Cache Files.
Repair/check several plist files.

Blue Progress Bar Doesn't Finish
Greetings!
For the past three weeks, Safari has been tempermental in downloading web pages. The blue progress bar will get maybe 1/3 across and stop. No twirling ball, no freeze-up, I can stop and refresh...eventually it works. Sometimes there is no problem at all.
It seems to be affecting IE and Firefox as well. Mail has also seem to be having trouble sending messages periodically.
I've cleared the cache, history, favicons...so maybe it's something from outside of Safari??
Also, no Internet Regulating programs and I have a cable modem connection.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

If anyone out there at Apple is reading this....
It would be very nice to have the blue progress bar back in the URL line to show the progress of a page load. It can really help to determine if there is something wrong with the page rendering or if it is the sending server just being slow.
ThanksHi Charlie
Welcome to Apple Discussion
I agree. The Blue Loading bar is much better visually then the small dial next to the URL. With that said....

Has been running OK until today. When I started up, I got the

instead of refreshing into the blue screen with the startup progress
bar (the one before the login screen), the computer refreshed
into a light gray screen with four black rectangles (bricks) across
the top of the screen. Haven't seen this described before.

The only info I see in Console is for the successful startup, but
there may be a record of the failed startups somewhere else?
Where would one look??
Planning to reinstall 10.4.9 combo from this 10.4.0 partition. Not
planning to go to 10.4.11 until everything is backed up).
Any ideas on what might be the problem?
Thanks!
bdenneheyUpdate:
Reinstall of the 10.4.9 updater using 10.4.0
partition as startup disk resolved the issue,
but Safari crashed whenever it encountered
secure website "https" and it did not do
that with the previous 10.4.9 installation.
10.4.10 did not resolve the problem, but
now running the new Safari and 10.4.11
things seem OK so far.

If you want the blue progress bar back tell Apple via Safari
This may or may not work but I figure it's worth a try. At least you can vent your frustration this way.
Just use the report bug to Apple menu item under the application menu and send it to Apple.Hi Charlie

Ajax progress bar, please help
I have read the Ajax progress bar example, but I still don't know how to create my own task thread.
If I have two new different tasks such as task1 and task2, should these classes extend the SimpleTask class, and override the run() method?
In addition, if I would like to get input from TextField for task1 or task2, how can I do that? What do I need to do in the SessionBean1? I mean that the SimpleTask can be instantiated in the SessionBean1 without any problem because it does not take any input from the Form. However, if my new task needs some inputs from the Form, how can I do that in the SessionBean1?
Finally, do I have to have two different sets of startOrResumeTask(), pauseTask() and stopTask() for each different task? The reason is that in the startOrResumeTask(), the task is casted to SimpleTask.
Thank you very much.See Help for the MovieClipLoader class, this is the right way
to do a
preloader. Never use those horrible on methods, like
onClipEvent, those are
just bad and never necessary. Nutshell: make a new movie - a
preloader -
make a new empty clip within it and give it an instance name
of 'content'.
Put this code on frame 1, in a script layer:
var mcl = new MovieClipLoader();
var lis = new Object();
lis.onLoadInit = function(target:MovieClip){
//target (content) is now ready to do stuff with:
//target.activate();
lis.onLoadProgress = function(target:MovieClip,
loadedBytes:Number,
totalBytes:Number){
//loaded / total * 100 is your loaded completion percentage
//use it to change a progress meter
mcl.addListener(lis);
mcl.loadClip("yourContentMovie.swf", content);
What I do is have all of my content movies have an activate()
function, and
I call that within onLoadInit to 'start' the content. Maybe
you want content
to fade in once it's loaded - give content an alpha of 0
within your loader
movie, and then within onLoadInit start a tween to fade it
in, or simply set
it's alpha to 100, to have it appear once loaded. Lots of
options.

Hi there,
I have desperately trying to solve a problem with a progress
bar in my animation. I have got a button on my progress bar which
shows at what stage the animation is. I would like to have the
button controlling the animation in the way that I could drag it to
any place on progress bar and the animation would move to this
place. I am attaching the source code, so I hope it would be much
clearer then. The link to download source code:

I would highly appreciate any advice and would be happy for
any help.
Thanks a lot in advance.

IOS updates can take awhile, but if you have multiple applications open or a older compter it will slow the process.

Whatever happened to the blue "progress" bar in the lower right corner in previous versions?
I found that bar to be very helpful to see if a site is working or how long it would take to appear in the browser window. Where did it go?
We logged an SR for this some months ago (for 10.1.2.3.0) and support told us this is not possible with Oracle mechanisms. You can only hide the status bar completely.

The question has as much detail as I know to give.
If you have problems with updating then easiest is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed version.<br />
You may need to remove the Firefox program folder to do a clean install of the new version.
Do a clean (re-)install:
* Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
* Firefox 4.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
* Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
* Do not remove personal data if you uninstall the current version.
* It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
You do not need to create a new profile, that is not necessary for this issue
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder] and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.
