Blue ray Burner Won't play Blue rays

I bought a HP Pavilion Dv6-2119tx (WF606PA) a couple of months a go last night I hired my first Blue ray Movie and the Laptop says it is set to Region A (US ...) where as I live in Australia and the Region is Region B and the Laptop was bought at Binglee Australia how do I set the drive to region B. I know how to set the DvD region to 4 for Australia in the Drive properties in My Computer (Windows 7 Home Premium) but it says nothing about Blue ray region settings.
Thanks for any help

Hi,
You should be able to set region in software which You are using to play blue-ray's.

  • HP MediaSmart DVD won't play Blu-Ray's

I'm hoping someone can help me out in trying to figure out why my HP HDX 18 won't play Blu-Ray movies using HP MediaSmart.
When I pop a Blu-Ray in the optical, HP MediaSmart starts up and it looks like it's going to the play the movie however, it proceeds to ask me if I want to "activate" the app. I click YES thinking it's the first time I've used it so I guess I need to activate it.....however, it then pulls up a browser that directs me to download a patch from CyberLink.
I download and attempt to install the patch however it tells me that MediaSmart is currently installed and the patch requests to uninstall the previous version.
I agree to do so and after a few seconds, it comes up with an error message (error!! the product definition file lost).
I retry MediaSmart thinking this time I'll press NO, I don't want to activate and when I do this, nothing happens at all.
When I open My Computer, I can see the Transformers Blu-Ray in the drive and can right click and Explore the Blu-Ray as well so I know the drive is seeing it.
I called HP support and while the guy was nice enough, he was at a complete loss in trying to figure out why my Blu-Ray player would not play any movies. He tried multiple steps from going to the MSCONFIG and disabling all programs at Start Up, disabling Windows Installer (not sure why he wanted to try this step), to trying to recover the program from the partition itself. Nothing worked.
His final resolution was to perform a complete system recovery which I balked at as I have multiple programs installed (that would have to be reinstalled) and don't feel it necessary to perform a system recovery to "fix" my Blu-Ray issue.
And just to clarify, yes...my optical drive is indeed Blu-Ray optical drive.
Any advise or direction anyone can point me in would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks for your time.

  • I have 10.3.1, how come the CD's I burn won't play in my vehicle?

I have itunes 10.3.1, how come the CD's I burn won't play in my vehicle?

I have been having issues with edited tracks from Toast/CD Spin Doctor that I send to my iTunes library, so that I might burn them onto a CD at a later date.
For example, when I try to hear my 3:42 edited track of a tune I had just sent over from Spin Doctor to iTunes, instead of hearing 3:42 of the "edited track", I only hear the first 3:42 of the raw "unedited" track.  In other words, if my raw Spin Doctor file had 20 seconds of silence before the track started, I would hear that first 20 seconds in my iTunes file instead of the edited file.
Personally, I think Apple needs to allow us Mac users to have a "download previous version" option when serious bugs like this appear on the updates.  Seems they give Windows users links to older versions, but for us Mac users, they make it hard for us to easily find older versions.  I feel like I'm being held hostage waiting for the next version, or patch.
And when I try to report the issue to Apple, when I go to the "What version of iTunes are you using?", they still don't have version 10.3 listed in their pulldown menus (as of 7/7/11).
If you want me to plunk down money for Lion, then you better get my iTunes back to where I could use it again.
Sorry for the rant, I've been in a major vinyl transfer-to-CD groove in the last month, and this just ruins my momentum. Apple has really disappointed me.

Problem: Overdue for my yearly viewing of AVATAR on Bluray. Suddenly, Blu-Ray no longer "works or reads". I remember it working last sometime mid of 2012. I hate an HD 5750 at the time as well as a 3-year old BluRay Drive.
Attempted Solution(s): Heard about the Analog Sunset. Bought a brand new BD Drive a month ago(September, 2013) (See Above) and installed it with a freshly wiped Window's 7 64-Bit. HDMI Cable is plugged in. Every Driver is up to date(YES!!!! I'm sure!!!!). Set display to HDMI default. Even with unplugged VGA, HDMI out to HDMI in doesn't work on restart.

  • HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC won't play blu-ray anymore

HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC used to play blu-ray discs. it had been a while since i have tried to play one and my computer has, no doubt, updated countless times since.
when i load a blu-ray disc the HP DVD player starts, and there is a black screen which says 'loading' and to press play. pressing play does not start the disc. it used to ask me if i wanted to check for updates, but selecting 'yes' never seemed to find any, and selecting 'no' just brought you back to the same place.
i have tried downloading the sp50935 DVD update to fix the problem, but when installing i get a message that says the 'install has been stopped due to an unsupported operating system' (to that effect), but i use Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Service Pack 1, the same that came installed when purchased.
    any ideas?

  • Blu-ray burner won't open drive door

I just bought a new Pioneer BDR-205 blu-ray burner (internal) and installed it below the DVD drive on the lower tier. Problem is when I hit optn-Eject, you can hear the drive mechanism try to open and bump against the door. The drive is precisely in place, and the door will open manually when the drive is removed. I'm thinking of getting an external, but wanted to check if anybody has any ideas.

Thanks, I'm trying figure out what to do with the locking tabs. It's like a plastic frame. It doesn't really want to move. I want to wedge the horizontal edge out from the door?

  • The DVD I burned won't play on my DVD player

I filmed my son playing a concert on my iPhone.  It is about an hour long.  I was able to make it into a quick time movie.  I figured out how to bun it on to a DVD throught Finder, but the DVD won't play on my DVD player or the Mac DVD player.  What am I doing wrong?

Did you use iDVD to create the video DVD for playing?
Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best quality video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
If iDVD was not preinstalled on your Mac you'll have to obtain it by purchasing a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com: ilife 09: Software or eBay.com.  Why, because iDVD (and iWeb) was discontinued by Apple over a year ago.
Why iLife 09 instead of 11?
If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides  themes from iDVD 5-7.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.

  • Dvd burned won't play.. tried many methods of trouble shooting still nothin

I'm trying to burn some of my video work for an application for grad school. It is HD, but I exported to an mov. file threw it in dvd studio pro and when I build it's fine, and simulate it it works, when I burn it it work on my mac, but it won't play on anything else?? Not my xbox or dvd player? The menu is set correctly with buttons working/linking fine. When I open the "dvd" on my mac it has the video_ts folder in it. I burned two different kinds on a doual layer 8.5 gb - r and a 4 gb + r and still nothing? I have no idea whats wrong can anyone suggest any other trouble shooting/solving methods? thanks, I'm working against deadline for grad school so time is important.

You burned an HD DVD. This is a nearly defunct format that will only play on a Mac or Toshiba's discontinued HD DVD player.
You will need to start over.
Delete any folders that DVDSP may have created. They are of no use to you.
The material must be encoded as DVD (not HD DVD) m2v and ac3
When you start your project again in DVDSP, make sure you use a DVD (not HD DVD) template.
You will need to recreate all your buttons, links etc from scratch. There is no way to port an HD DVD project into a DVD project.
    Good luck,
    x

  • Why all of a sudden cd's I burn won't play in my truck ?  Should I have never allowed itunes to update ?

Why all of a sudden cd's that I burn on my pc from iTunes won't play in my truck ?  Nothing changed except I allowed iTunes to update !

If you go directly to the Cox web mail site does the password work there?
If so you know you have a working password.
From the menu bar in Thunderbird select:
    '''Tools-Options-Security-Passwords-Saved Passwords'''
Click the button to show passwords.
Is the password shown correctly there?
If not remove it and close Thunderbird.
When you open Thunderbird the next time you will be asked for a password. Enter the correct password.
No menu bar with Tools showing? Press the alt key.
Incorrect server settings can also cause the password error. You should get a current list of server settings from Cox and compare those with what you have set in Thunderbird and make any needed corrections.

  • Blue Ray Disc Won't Play

I insert a blue ray disc, It starts the HP MediaSmart Player and then comes up with an error message stating:
    Information
    The content is protected.
The content is not allowed to play in the current display mode.
The computer is only a month old and has never played a blue ray.  its plays regular DVD just fine.
Any ideas what the problem coould be?

    Hi,
It seems that your PC has old version of MediaSmart installed, and it does not get updated from Cyberlink (Who created PowerDVD too).
Please follow the steps given below to get it resolved.
Click Start->Control Panel->PRograms and Features. Select MediaSmart DVD and click Uninstall. Uninstall PowerDVD too.
    Install MediaSmart New Version:
    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp49001-49500/sp49489.exe
    Or
    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp50501-51000/sp50778.exe
If it does not work, install Trial copy of PowerDVD:

  • Dual Layer burn won't play second layer

I made my first dual layer DVD. I had 2 movies that were produced by FCE. Each movie was just under an hour. I set up the main menu so that you could select to play either movie or could access the scene selection for either movie. I selected the first sequence in the second movie to be where the second layer would be located. I burned the DVD from my iMac and tried to play the DVD in our families DVD player and a PS2. The first movie plays just fine. When you select to play the second movie, the DVD acts like that's where it's going and then it brings you right back to the main menu. I went back to the iMac and it could play the second movie without a hitch. I used the high quality Ridata DVD.
What am I doing wrong here? Can someone direct me to a possible answere?

    iMac G5 1.8 17   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

DVD-R DL is Double Layer. DVD+R DL is Dual Layer. My optical drive is for +R. Now if I'm doing single layer disk, then I use DVD-R, which is compatable with most DVD players.
The problem that I was having was due to not selecting the break-point check-box in the inspector window for the chapter marker that I wanted to be the break-point.
Here's the break-down. After doing the build, make sure that there is a chapter marker that can be used as a break-point. To do this, select format and select the 'Disk/Volume' tab. Select the 'Layer Options' to be Dual. Click on the 'Dual-Layer Break Point' option and see if there are any markers that are NOT grayed-out. If you cannot select any markers, then you need to start adding markers to your project and re-build. (Tell it to Reuse the directory so that it won't have to rebuiled all of the video content.) Once you are able to select a marker to be the break point, select that marker in the timeline and select the 'Dual-Layer Break Point' check-box in the Inspector window. Delete any extra markers that you don't want and Format.

  • CDs I burn won't play on car player

I have no problems burning audio CDs with itunes. The CDs play great on every CD player EXCEPT the on in my car, which is where I really want to use them. I've burnt MP3 files to audio CDs using other software and they play just fine in my car, just not the CDs I create with itunes. Any suggestions? And trading cars is not an acceptable suggestion! Thanks.

Dunno what the issue is, but I've been having the same problem for a while.  Disks I burn on my arch box actually cause some settop players to hardlock.  ISOs I created a few months ago burn fine, but newly created ones, even of the same media, do not.  All of them play fine on any computer I throw them in - linux, Mac, or windows.

  • Dvd I burned won't play in friends mac...

Why does a slideshow that I burned a dvd of plays fine in my new macbook pro but not in my friend's older macbook?

    Hi
Most common origin to this is
    • brand of DVD e.g. Memorex, Noname and other Cheap brands usually do not work for Video - I only use Verbatim (More organic dye in these)
    • type of DVD used - DVD-R plays on more and older players as DVD+R and +/-RW is known trouble makers
    • burn speed - I set it down to x4 = less burn errors = Plays on more devices

my hp p6370t windows7 won"t play blue ray disks...it use too and stopped working.

    Hi,
The "laser" beams for BluRay is more delicated than beams for CD/DVD therefore we can see laptop BD ROM's are easy to break in comparison with the ones sit on our home systems.
My suggestion is to clean the lens and hopefully the problem goes away.
