Blue Screen after 10.6.5 update

I installed 10.6.5, and on re-start, all I got was the dreaded blue screen. My Mac Pro will boot up in safe mode, but that's it. The Geek-squad Mac expert looked at everything for a long-time, repaired permissions, etc. etc., and believes the problem is an incompatibility with ATI video cards. All I know is that I'm going to have to take my Mac Pro back to Apple to sort out. What a hassle....Anybody have any thoughts etc?
Anyway, if you have an ATI card, and are thinking of updating to 10.6.5...pause for thought....

Did you bring it to BestBuy for repair? Surprised to hear the "geek-squad" say that 10.6.5 is incompatible with standard MacPro ATI cards. Or did you install additional hardware? Hmm. Did you restart off your MacOS DVD? Did you download the 10.6.5 Combo update to your desktop and run it from there? Did you disable any anti-virus software running in background.

iPhone 5s Random Blue Screen after last Update

I have had 9 iOS devices either just show the apple log and go black or a dead battery even thou they were on the chargers for hours.
I brought them to the Apple store.  No one could give me an answer as to why it did it.  All you have to do to fix it is do this:
To put your device into recovery mode, follow these steps:
Turn off your device and leave it off.
Plug in your device's USB cable to a computer with iTunes.
Hold down the Home button on your device as you connect the USB cable. ...
When you see this screen, release the Home button.
From the consensus of the people in my office that did the iOS 8.3 update.  The ones that did the update while the iPhone or iPad was on a charger are not experiancing any issues.  The ones that did the update without being on a charger are the ones experianceing the issues at hand.

  • Blue Screen After 10.5.6 Update

Well another update that is causing a headache. My MacBook Pro is locked in a blue screen when I attempt to startup after installing the 10.5.6 update. Has anyone had this problem and been able to resolve it? I am at work and do not have my backup or install DVD available.

Many of us have, over time, stopped using the automatic update for anything but minor patches. They seem to be more problematical than they should be.
For the record, there are several ways to use Software Update, including the "Download Only" option, which seems to avoid a recently discovered bug in which that app may start the update process before the update file package has completely downloaded to the Mac. Depending on the package size, timing, & download speed, this can result in the update hanging because the necessary updating resources are not yet available from the incomplete download. See Mac OS X 10.5: Software Update stops responding during "Configuring installation" for more info about this.
This bug has supposedly been fixed in the 10.5.6 update, so once it is successfully installed this should no longer be a problem, but for those already affected, neither the "Download Only" option nor the other suggestions like repairing permissions or starting up in safe mode are likely to help.
Apple's resolution seems to assume that the hang will only occur at the "Configuring installation" step, before anything actually has been installed, but I suspect that sometimes for whatever reason the update actually starts to install files, on restart the OS is only partially updated, & the mix of old & new system files may not work well enough together to get the boot process beyond the blue or user login screen, even in safe mode.
Obviously, if this happens, neither Apple's resolution nor will installing the combo update be possible (no Finder available) if you try to boot into the 'mixed up' OS. It may be necessary to reinstall the OS & then manually download & apply the combo updater to set things right.

  • IMac stuck at blue screen after 10.6.6 update

    Hello,
I updated to 10.6.6 via Software Update today. I left it to install, then rebooted when it asked to. Upon reboot it sat at the blue screen indefinitely and would not get to the log on screen.
I left this for over an hour, and then forced a reboot with the power button, brought it back to the same blue screen though.
I then booted with the disk and tried a disk & permissions repair, but the same thing still happens.
Booting in safe mode also doesn't get to the login screen, just sits there.
Is there any way to recover this installation? Suffice to say i'm mightily pi**ed this update has bricked my machine :/
    thanks

i am having the same problem - been going on for over a week - blue screen won't open - used snow leopard disk to run disk utility - disk checks out fine - doesn't help - then reinstalled snow leopard from install disk, starts perfect runs normal, software update updates everything, and it still runs fine for a while then boom, same thing - REPEAT - three times. Hangs up when switching users or starting up.
Today - started again, only this time the reinstall of Snow Leopard fails, says it cannot copy support files. Call to tech says I have to wipe the drive and start over, something is corrupted. Am running right now on a bootable clone on an external hard drive and preparing to wipe my drive. Not happy about it - had not considered that it was the 10.6.6 update causing it... should I wipe the drive or not?

  • I have dead blue screen after downloading the ios 7.1.1

I have dead blue screen after downloading the ios 7.1.1.
What should I do to fix it?

    Hello hagarar,
If your iPhone started displaying a blue screen after running a software update, I suggest the steps in the following article.
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2802
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
    Thanks for reaching out,

    007India,
You are wise to do research in advance of any major purchase.   Regardless of manufacturer , be it Lenovo, Acer, Dell, or HP, people tend to post their problems to the internet rather than their successes.  How many people take time to post everyday saying "everything is going great!" ?
Yes, there has been a lot of discussion about blue screen issues.  Some caused by turbo memory drivers, and if you check the forum there are updates and fixes for that.  Some could be OS related, and some may relate to specific drivers.
Some of your broad assertions, like being forced to use only a single Dimm, are perhaps a bit over generalized.  The issue you are referencing is related only to the T61P model, and there is no limitation to only using one memory module.  Some customers have discussed lockups while gaming in 3D games with dual dimms, but service has been able to resolve these when noted.  We are finalizing our investigation on this issue and resulting resolution.  There are no similar issues with rest of the T series, or any X or R series systems.
The choice of whether to apply updates is certainly up to the individual.
Yes, there are stories posted about customer service, but I would suggest that you count them, and consider them against the hundreds of thousands of customers WW.   Again, people tend to post about the exceptions or the problems rather than saying everything is just fine.  We do work to resolve issues when they arise.
Once again, I think you are wise to thoroughly evaluate products you are interested in, and the companies that produce them ahead of making your purchase.   I hope you are pleased with whichever system you purchase.
    Best regards

  • Blue screen after update to 10.6.2

After i updated my iMac 24, it restarted, got past the grey screen with apple logo, then get's stock in the blue screen after that. I can move the mouse but that's it. I tried restarting en reset my PRAM, nothing. Then i disconnected everything extrenal, restarted after resetting PRAM again, nothing???
What do i have to do??????
    Thanks for any help
    Hans

Same issue as alembee. Clean install of 10.6. Installed Xcode from disk. Changed a few preferences. Got prompt of 10.6.2 update (plus iTunes and Remote access). When updates were installed, I was given the options to "restart now" or "restart later". I chose now. It looked like I was logged out, but the computer (original MBP Core Duo) stalled at the background nebula/aurora image. I could still move the mouse. Since I enabled ssh remote login, I tested it from another computer. Sure enough, I could login to the MBP and see all the processes running (top). I executed a "sudo reboot" to remotely restart the system.
I put in the 10.6 disc (held down "c") and went to Disk Utility. Ran Verify Permissions and Verify Disk for good measure (nothing wrong). I have upgraded the RAM and HD since purchase, but I don't see how this would be an issue. Since I was able to login remotely, it was seems to be an issue with proper logout and restarting.

  • Blue Screen after clean reinstall snow leopard

I have a mid 2011 that came with Snow Leopard and disks.  I upgraded from there to Lion - then whatever came next and to Mavericks and finally Yosemite, which was a nightmare for me. I did not use disks of any of the rest.  So I just decided to take my disks and go back to Snow Leopard.  I did this and it asked to go to disk utility and repair both the HD and Permissions.  It came out ok, but there was an instance where looking at the list in HD repair, I saw Suid File System Library Core was moved and cannot be repaired. I went ahead and erased the Hard Drive. Then closed out and installed Snow Leopard. I'm not sure I did it right because I had to rename the new start up disk and typed in unnamed 1.
after that I was able to start up to Snow Leopard. It worked fine until I tried to download all the updates. Then it didn't seem to restart, but just went to the sign in screen.  So I had to keep shutting down and turning it back on. No updates. One of times I started up, I got the blue screen after the apple and gray screen.
Also on start up the apple comes up without the chime. Last night I got some instructions from a similar situation and tried to use my disk to a clean reinstall all over.  It didn't work, still the blue screen. (it does fine in safemode.)
I need help to get this mac running.  If someone can help me......

    Clean Install of Snow Leopard
Be sure to make a backup first because the following procedure will erase
the drive and everything on it.
         1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
with your computer.  Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
After the chime press and hold down the  "C" key.  Release the key when you see
a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
         2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
size.)  Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.  Set the number of
partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
(Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.
         3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed
with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
         4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
Assistant. After you finish Setup Assistant will complete the installation after which
you will be running a fresh install of OS X.  You can now begin the update process
by opening Software Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your
             installation current.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.

I get a PAGEFAULT_IN_NONPAGEDAREA blue screen after I encounter multiple Error 37: a bad filename or volume was encountered.
Anyone encounter this issue and how to you send info to apple for them to fix their buggy code?
Their support of code which will run bug-free on vista seems to be lacking (I understand there are two parties to this marriage).
    Help anyone?

I noticed a few days ago that (at least on my box) Quicktime seems to have "issues" with >31 characters anywhere in the file path.
Is it possible that you have some folder along the way to your movie that has more than 31 charaters?
Shorten if necessary and see if that works.
