Blue Screen- display off at startup/ login or while working

Hello,
I am having issue with my HP probook 4510S, win 7 32 bit. Display is getting lost suddenly and harddisk light stops flashing. sometime on hard boot it get started immediately and sometime again no display..
If I look at the action centre that its shod video harware error.
No solution by sending the crash report.
I had tried updating drivers.
I had tried by re-installing windows.

My MacBook Pro is now asking for a login. When I enter my passcode, it goes to a blue screen and back to the login screen. I saw several older posts, but nothing recently. I am running Snow Leopard.

My MacBook is now asking for a password. When I login, it loops to a blue screen, and back to the login. Incorrect logins create a shaking of the login screen. I tried restarting with the shift key depressed, with no luck.

I performed a hard shutdown, and upon start I could access my system without logging on. I'm not sure what caused the issue, but I have not booted up in almost a week.

When one of the users on the iMac tries to login it goes to a blue screen and back to the login window. This only happens with one of the users - I've tried doing a safe boot, running disk utility, and using Time Machine to restore the user's libray back to pre-problem timetable. When I run repair permissions I do gt a SUID file "usr/sbin/vpnd" and "usr/sbin/pppd" have been modified. Any ideas?

Lion OK so far, except Windows 7 SP1 under BootCamp blue screens within 10 sec of login. "Cache_Manager" stop: 0x00000034 is cited, suggesting driver issue, but maybe memory or HD corruption. Memory (incl. 4 GB RAM) is fine and CheckDisk has been run on partition apparently fixing files hanging from multiple blue screens. Blue screen not seen under Windows Safe Mode + Network. Is there a Boot Camp driver issue with Lion? Any suggestions?

Did you download and use Boot Camp 4.0 drivers?
The 3.0 was known for some people due to AppleHFS.sys AppleMNT.sys - rename to disable or use 3rd party HFS+ driver would help. HFS filenames with special characters will trigger a 'green bar' in Explorer if you open a folder with such filenames.
As for drivers... you can try rolling back, restore point, uninstalling, even using 3.0 and upgrade to 3.2 until any issue with 4.0 is fixed and resolved (or bug acknowledged).
One person (Boot Camp forum) had trouble with 4.0, and downgraded. Also, the Windows Boot Camp OS Switcher (BC control panel) would not function.
It is always hard to rule out RAM. AHT (not sure how to run on Lion only but you have your OEM DVD), Memtest is more "nothing found" does not mean "no problem." Swapping out RAM is sometimes the only recourse. Windows DVD does have memtest included.
Disk drives: the manuf. own utility (WD Lifeguard etc) is best tool to find problems, map out bad sectors, restore a drive to health.
Have not seen any mention though.

Sorry, misread the spinning gear as the SBBOD. If you've followed the steps in http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1545 and AHT shows HD issues, then all I can suggest is a trip to an Apple repair facility, since you're inability to boot with the ext HD backup indicates more than just the int HD getting fried.

I did a clean install of Windows Vista Enterprise edition and have installed all the drivers for my T400.
What I found was that the Fn on screen display message generator was working fine right before I installed the driver for the Intel GM4500 video controller.
Once I installed this video driver, I get a popup window that says On screen display message generator for Thinkpad has stopped working

I'm reluctant to install Vista SP1 or SP2 as that may caus other unrelated problems.

I have experienced this on a customer's ThinkPad R61e Machine Type 7650-DNG and found that the following solves the problem.
Firstly run Thinkvantage System Update and get everything up to date from Critical, Recommended and Optional Updates tabs.
Next Run Windows Update and view the available updates select all High Priority Microsoft updates and any optional ones that you require and (and this is where it differs from normal Lenovo advice) select the Conexant Audio driver aswell.
Current Vista version available on Windows Update is 4.98 (Date 23 Jun 2009)
Current Vista version available on Thinkvantage System Update is 4.18 (Date 2 Oct 2007)
NB Re-installing 4.18 may have solved the problem also, but I have not tried that and do not plan to.

On screen display message generator for ThinkPad has stopped working

Hello,
This is a fresh install of Vista-32 on a lenovo x300.
Upon boot (or launching TPOSDSVC.exe) I receive the error message in the subject line.
There is an entry in the Application log, here is the jist of it:
Faulting application TPOSDSVC.exe, version 1.1.3.0 faulting module MMDevApi.dll_unloaded
I've uninstalled the On Screen Display application a few times - no luck
-I uninstalled it from add/remove programs then reinstalled it via the Lenovo System Update utility.
I've checked my video drivers - up to date according to lenovo
The problem is presitent under new profiles.
I did some digging online and found a possible fix of altering some reg keys

The keys mentioned in that post were non- existent in this computers registry.... ?
I added them .... no dice

Thank you, I had forgotten about target mode. I was able to back up all of my files. I also copied some additional 50 GB of files of the disk as a stress test and the hard drive worked fine and quick (and because it was quicker than retrieving the same files from a network drive to my desktop).
I was hoping to also unpack the Applejack files on my desktop and put them back so I could run them in single user mode without running /etc/rc. However I haven't been able to get my Linux desktop to mount the iBook in Read-Write instead of Read-Only yet (I don't have access to another Mac at the moment).

Why does my screen turn black when I play iTunes while working on iPhoto?

Why does my screen turn black when I play ITunes while working on iPhoto? I can't click off of the screen but get a message that reads Shut down computer by pressing button in back then turn computer back on by pushing button in back. That's followed by Chinese letters (which I cannot read). I have had other problems when playing iTunes (actually, a radio station on the Internet) while working on iPhoto. Before, I got a window that would pop up and tell me I had no disk space available, that I would have to quit applications that were open. Not many were open.
It would be nice if I could solve this problem once and for all.

Gnome 3: Screen Turns Off On Startup

I'm having so many Gnome 3 issues, sorry XD.
Ok, for this issue, when I turn on my computer, log in, I can do stuff for about 10 seconds or so until my clicks become unresponsive (i can still move mouse) and the screen slowly "turns off" / fades to black. afterwords i can move my mouse / click / type and it'll bring me to the login screen (the log in screen after suspend i believe? all it shows me is the password prompt) from where i enter my password and I have no more issues from there on.
Just curious if there's a solution for this ^^, had the same issue on my other arch 'top

I have the BIOS configured for the ATI FireGL with swapping off. I'm using the "radeon" driver.
Xorg.0.log only had a few warnings about my keyboard and mouse.
There was only one thing that made a difference from what I've tried so far. Booting to the display manager runlevel-5 and logging in and out of KDE works fine. But if I ever kill X with Alt-Ctrl-F1, the display manager never comes up and the screen stays off. OTOH, startx from runlevel-3 will always cause the monitor to turn off when I logout KDE or kill X.

1. Get a blue screen hardware issue starting up directly in Windows which appears just after the Windows startup animation. Using the windows repair doesn't seem to do anything.
2. Bootcamp now missing from the Mac OS 'Start up' target disk.
Has anyone solved these problems?
Infuriating that Apple have released Lion and it buggers up Bootcamp. I do not wish to go throught the process of partitioning and reinstalling Windows again as it takes days because I have to install Vista and wait a while for Windows to eventually install both service packs before I can then install the Windows 7 upgrade disk. It took approxiamtely 2 days of time to do this!!!

I can easily get into Windows. It is just that the drivers don't seem to work correct, and makes the screen dark.

Blue Screen - unable to continue startup

Yesterday, I updated iTunes and attempted to update to 10.4.8. In the process, I got an error that said it was unable to update. I tried restarting but the boot sequence ended on a blue screen.
I have tried SAFE BOOT - did not work.
Boot Disk - worked fine. I was able to run disk util and it said my volume was fine and nothing needed repairing.
I can boot to Windows and run that fine also. (How sad that I bought a MAC to get away from Windows and now I have to run Windows because my MAC failed me. Bill Gates would probably like this story.)
Anyway, any suggestions would be helpful? I have some very important photos on the MAC side and I DO NOT want to loose those (a recent trip to Zion's National Park with the kidoos.)
Can I use the startup disk and reinstall MaC OS X without erasing my hardrive? Also, is there a utility on the windows side that would allow me to reach over and grab those pictures on the MAC side? I could do this and then reinstall my MAC stuff erasing everything.
Thank you for any input. I was thinking about taking it in to the store but I assume they will not care about saving my data and eventually erase my drive to fix the thing.

Oh, one more thing. On one of the many help pages about boot problems on the apple support site (which none seem to help me), it mentions that blue screen happens on the "launchd" boot sequence. I don't know what this means but perhaps that might help someone help me. This help page is found here.

does he download the Update and install?

Thanks for the heads up, yes, I probably messed up with that one, but it was an afterthought. Saving files from Mac side was said of utmost importance.
Since it booted to the install disc [seems strange that a safe boot doesn't work since HDD accepted repairs ok], I guess I was thinking it was only a matter of time and a little fiddling, after first saving files, until it would restart to the Mac OS. [Startup disc should have been re-selected immediately following use of disk utility.]
The blue screen usually isn't all that big a deal as long as the HDD is ok, which disk repair apparently has confirmed.

I understand that you have reinstalled Windows 7, and did all the updates through Windows update and the HPSA. You have not had any issues until you watched a video and then you got a blue screen with an error message.
Have you checked for viruses and malware? MS Malicious Software Removal Tool
Have you ran the Windows troubleshooter?

You can also try booting into safe mode to ensure no third party software is interfering with the video. HP PCs - Windows 7 Safe ModeHere is a link to HP and Compaq Desktop PCs - Using Microsoft System Configuration (Windows 7). Using the 50/50 method you can narrow down the result to determine if a particular software is causing the issue.Once you have all the services disabled ( except the Microsoft ones which you hid) re enable half the services and restart.Test watching a video to see if the issue remains.If your video plays fine then repeat the above process selecting only the other half of the services. If the issue comes back then it is one of those services so try disabling 50 % of the enabled services and continue in this manner until you locate the cause. Dear Team I've BB Curve 9320 and am facing display off issue in my phone and regularly red notification light is blinking and keypad light is also lighting. I've visited East Delh(India) and Noida Sec 2 Service center but found there was no service center which address was mentioned there.I tried to update my software but failed into my attempt it's asking password everytime whenever I do a same. Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain directly connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB, not a cradle):With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall chargerLeave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display doesRemove the batteryWait 15 minutesInsert the batteryWait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display doesThis has been known to "kick start" some BBs.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:Obtain an known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happensObtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happensThe results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem. Note carefully please that "new" and "know good" are not necessarily the same things. While rare, a "new" battery certainly could be defective. Rather, the simplest (and least costly, btw) method to conduct this test is to find someone with an identical BB who has no issues...trade batteries and see what happens.  If possible, you could also attempt to boot into Safe Mode:KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe ModeIt may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When/if successfully into Safe Mode, see what happens.
If the behavior ceases, then think carefully...what happened just before this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Something else? Think carefully as the smallest change could be causal...and attempt to undo whatever that was.
But if the behavior continues in Safe Mode, then you may need to consider more drastic actions -- WIPE, OS Reload, BBSAK Wipe/Reload, and the "Bare Bones" OS Reload Process.
