Blue screen from USB adapter on Docking Station

My T430s will invariably BS within 5 secs ~ 5 mins of plugging in a certain wifi network USB adapter into the docking station, whereas plugged directly into the T430s, it's fine.
It's a trusty Rosewill RNX-G1W that I carried over from a T61p, and is compatible with Linux on VMWare.  I've used it on XP, Vista, and now Win 7 64-bit.  I have the latest driver, specific to Win 7; although the default one Win 7 self-installs when it recognizes new USB hardware works just fine, except with docking station.
Any idea why it crashes when in the docking station but not in laptop ports?  Even when laptop is attached to station?  I've tried both the USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports thinking it was power related, but that changes nothing.
Particulars:  Win 7 64-bit, 16GB RAM, 14" screen w/ NVIDIA Optimus chip.  Event log only show loss of Kernel-power causing crash.

  • Why do I get a blue screen using USB communication?

    Hello,
My problem is that sometimes I get a blue screen using USB communication. I guess that most of the time the problem is an overflow in memory, so I read all the data that is on the port with which I communicate. I read two ports so there are two similar VIs that are used. There is how I do it:
I also communicate with a logger to acquire 16 channels. I read the information from the logger in two different parts of the program at the same time. Maybe this can cause an issue, but could it cause a blue screen? This is how I do it:
I once had a blue screen after the VI was closed, so there is how I manage to close the communication when I quit:
Do you think there can be any problem coming from one of these parts of my LV project? If not, what else can cause a blue screen in LabVIEW?

Are you using USB to GPIB (doubtful because you are using bytes at port)? But, just inc ase, I had this problem also with USB to GPIB, and it ended up being a driver issue I believe. If you are using USB to GPIB driver that was released with LV2012, search for the latest 2012 driver on NIs site, download it, and use that. See if it fixes your problem

  • USB adapter for docking port Screen hp split x2

  • Utility or trick to get screenshots from USB-Adapter-driven monitor?

My main computer is a G5Quad, but this post relates to my MacBook.
Recently, I acquired a USB-(display card)Adapter ( http://eshop.macsales.com/item/NewerTech/VIDU2DVIA/                  ) to run the second one of my dual external monitors with my MacBook (not "Pro").
The first one of the external monitors was already connected to the MacBook through the regular external-monitor port, so this allowed for the use of both external monitors on the MacBook.
To my utter astonishment and delight, the arrangement works absolutely superbly. I ended up with an arrangement in which my desktop spans all three monitors, with my main monitor on the right (22" CRT) being the one connected directly to the MacBook's monitor port,  the center one (also a 22" CRT) conected through the above described USB adapter, and on the left the MacBook's own built-in monitor.
Working with Photoshop13 ("CS6") with all that screen real estate is like a dream.
The only thing that doesn't work is taking a screen shot of the center display, i.e. the one connected through the USB adapter.  Using Command_Shift_3 generates only screen-shot files from monitors one (right) and three (left), the center one is simply
    ignored.
Using Command_Shift_4 only in the center screen, I can hear the shutter-clack sound, but no image is generated again.  I've tried swapping the screens and connections around, and whichever is connected through the USB adapter is always ignored.
If anyone can suggest any trick or knows any utility that will help me get this done, I'd be much obliged.
Running Snow Leopard 10.6.8, and here are the MacBook's details:
    Name: MacBook (late 2006)
    ModelCode: mb_late_06
    Model Number: MA701
    Machine Model: MacBook2,1
    Model introduced: 2006
    Factory: W8 (Shanghai China)
    Production year: 2007
    Production week: 18 (May)
Production number: xxxx (within this week)
    CPU speed: 2.0GHz
    Family name: A1181
    Screen size: 13 inch
    Screen resolution: 1280x800 pixels
    As per Apple System Profiler:
    Hardware Overview:
      Model Name:    MacBook
      Model Identifier:    MacBook2,1
Processor Name:    Intel Core 2 Duo
      Processor Speed:    2 GHz
      Number Of Processors:    1
      Total Number Of Cores:    2
      L2 Cache:    4 MB
      Memory:    4 GB
      Bus Speed:    667 MHz
      Boot ROM Version:    MB21.00A5.B07
      SMC Version (system):    1.13f3
      Serial Number (system):    WXXXXXXXXXX
      Hardware UUID:    00000000-0000-1000-8000-001B631BC56F
      Sudden Motion Sensor:
      State:    Enabled
Both external CRTs are running at 1280x1024 pixels
    Thanks in advance.

Found the utility I was looking for:  SnapzProX2 does the job perfectly, by either taking a screen shot of just the secondary (center) monitor or one spanning the entire width of all three screens combined.
Alas, the utility costs $70.    I'll continue looking hoping to find something cheaper.
However, this proves that the USB-adapter is indeed working flawlessly and that it provides all the necessary information to capture a screen shot of the monitor it is driving.
So this is really an Apple problem, which I have no hope of seeing fixed, as Snow Leopard is no longer supported.
If somebody finds something else, please let us know.

  • Nw8440 won't take power from AC adapters or docking station

I think my nw8440 laptop got hurt by a defective AC power brick - it caused the 'charging' light to flutter rapidly and a small clicking sound was heard from the laptop.  After that, the laptop will not run off of any external power input and will not charge the batteries (I have 2 other good AC bricks and a docking station, but now none work).  The laptop does sense the presence of the DC input though; a minute or so after a brick is plugged in, an HP assistant pops-up appears from the taskbar and shows something like "The smart adapter does not have enough power for this computer".  The laptop is obviously going to need repair, but is anyone familiar with the power components and able to advise on what I should expect?  (e.g., do these have any replaceable power parts or is it likely that the motherboard is fried?)

I was having the same problem. Installed the older driver from the link and now it wakes up!

  • Hard Drive not recognized when booting from XP CD on docking station

The hard drive on my X60 failed to the point where I couldn't recover and reinstall the image. I have backups of all my data and a docking station so I didn't sweat it. Bought a new drive and installed it and this is when the trouble began.
I created an XP CD with SP2 slipstreamed in to make sure I have the latest drivers. I boot from XP CD and everything works until I try to install Windows. According to the installation CD there is no drive installed!
I reinstalled the drive to make sure and this time I booted off of Ubuntu Linux which installed flawlessly. That leads me to believe that  there is a driver problem with Windows.
I need help! I would like to install Windows on the machine but nothing I've tried works.

Standard Microsoft XP SP2 does not come with any SATA device drivers.
    You have two options:
Go into the T60 BIOS and switch the SATA controller mode away from AHCI to "IDE" mode (or pehaps its "legacy" or "compatibility" mode - I forget what specific term is used in a ThinkPad BIOS).
Find the SATA device driver for XP (it's probably in the Intel Chipset driver download) on the Lenovo X60 support web site, download it and install it using the additional driver installation option which is offered right at the start of an XP install.
If you chose option 1, remember to switch the SATA controller back to AHCI mode in the BIOS after you have installed the SATA device driver.
    Cheers,
    Bill

  • Does the 4th gen Nano have an adapter for docking stations? Need help!!!!

I have a philips dock and play docking station and whilst my 1st gen Nano is very happy playing on it the 4th Gen won't even go on properly. Am i not inserting it correctly or are they just not compatible? What i'd really like to know, is there an adapter for the 4th Gen so that i can attach it to the docking station as well?

    Hiya...try this http://www.scosche.com/products/productID/1695
It's a dock adaptor. Not sure if it works - but frankly, I am just as annoyed as everyone else about the change in connection. I have the original Bose sound dock and the 4th Generation Nano does not work in it.

  • I am trying to format a new external hard drive. It is attached via a USB 2.0 docking station. It does not show up in Disk Utility or Terminal, but does show up in System Profiler. How can I get my MacBook Pro to recognise it?

I need help trying to format an external hard drive. My Mac won't recognise it anywhere other than System Profiler.

The problem is that it is a Western Digital 3.5 inch internal hard drive housed inside a hard drive caddy. So the only way to connect it to my computer is through a dock.

  • 24" iMac Blue screen at start up. Dock appears but cannot open Finder.

Error -10810 "The application Finder cannot be opened".

The fact that you can neither boot into sfe mode or from your startup disc tells me that you're probably holding the keys too early or late. Lets go back and try to start up in safe mode again http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1564?viewlocale=en_US
Press the Shift key immediately AFTER you hear the startup chime. Startting in safe mode deletes some temporary files that should allow you to get into Finder.

  • Dynadock Universal USB 3.0 Docking Station: no autoconnect of USB-HDD after Win8 power-up

    Hello,
    I've recently obtained a Dell XPS-12 which only has a SSD-HDD.
In order to overcome the limitations in terms of available connections I bought a Dynadock which works fine so far.
I want to use the Dynadock in a configuration where it is the only device connected to the laptop and all peripherals are connected to the dynadock.
If I connect a USB-HDD to the dynadock I so far did not manage to have the HDD reliably connected to the laptop after power-up, sometimes it works, sometimes I need to unplug the HDD.
I did not find a sequence of powering up laptop/dynadock that does the job.
    Any ideas?
    Best regards
    Tim Tom

Did you ever resolve this issue, because I am having exactly the same issue!  Thanks!

  • Windows 7 Blue Screen of Death from Apple Wireless Keyboard?

I've installed Windows 7 with Boot Camp 3.0 drivers on my Mac mini, and I suppose overall, I'm enjoying it. However, I'm getting a blue screen that seems almost random. Keyword is almost.
I've got my Apple Wireless Keyboard and Mighty Mouse paired, and they're both working well, however, I do believe I am getting some blue screens from my wireless keyboard.
It seems, at random intervals (usually when I haven't touched the keyboard and mouse for awhile) I get an IRQL blue screen and no information about what's exactly causing it. For example, if I'm sitting in the other room listening to music for awhile, and I come back and press the "next" media button on my keyboard, it'll crash and give me the blue screen. However, I've also tried pressing another random button (shift) to "wake" the keyboard if it had fallen asleep, which also results in a blue screen. The blue screens ONLY show up when I give input via the wireless keyboard. Or, if I leave the computer on overnight to download a file or something, the screen will sleep (which it should) then I'll press a button on the keyboard, the screen will stay asleep, and the computer will restart. Which is just a hidden blue screen I'm assuming.
I've tried reinstalling Windows (Clean/fresh install of course), installing/uninstalling drivers, pairing and re-pairing. I've also removed unnecessary/non-Windows 7 drivers that were installed with Boot Camp.
Outside of this blue screen, I am quite impressed with Windows 7. I just can't figure out what's going on. Is there any place I can get a description of what's causing this crash? Does anyone know what's happening or know a solution to this?
Thanks in advance, if you need more details, please ask.

Experiencing exactly the same symptoms, bugcheck/bluescreen only when touching the Apple wireless keyboard after a period of inactivity.
I have an 20" iMac, just upgraded Leopard -> Snow Leopard latest minor version and updated to Boot Camp 3.1 hoping they provided a fix, but the driver at fault (keymagic.sys) doesn't look updated and the issue is still there
Hopefully someone from Apple dev support is reading this, here's all the info I could squeeze from the crash dump:
