Blue screen, froozen, dead ipod.

I was charging my iPod on my computer, and after a while I decided I was going to go to my room and listen to some music. So I kindly ask my brother to disconnent my iPod. I go upstairs. He does this properly, and after he unplugs it from the computer he watchs a video podcast. I return and bring my iPod to my room, only to find it wont turn on. All I see is a blue screen. I switch hold on & off, then hold the center & play buttons for about 10 seconds. Didn't work. I repeat multiple times. Nothing. I go on the website. No help.
The problem. My iPod is frozen, showing a blue screen. It isn't registering on the computer. Nothing is working.
Help? I'm panicing.

DId you enter your iPod's serial number in the box near the bottom right of the support page? That will give you your support options. Your iPod's serial number is on the back of your iPod and on the box it came in.

Why do I get a blue screen on the Ipod touch camera function occasionally and it is frozen?

I just baught a new iPod and had the "blue screen" problem with the camera. Your suggestion to "Reset" fixed the problem:

Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
    Thank you!

I have a blue screen on my ipod 4g and it will not do anything? What do i do?

    Try resetting:
Hold the home and power buttons at the same time until the Apple boot logo appears. No data will be lost.
If that doesn't work, just let the battery drain. Once you charge it back up it should work as normal.

  • Blue Screen when syncing IPOD

I have been perusing the threads and I am beginning to see some common problems with a few others out there. The Blue screen STOP messages seem to be happneing to others.
I have tried everything including updating windows with the newly released patch today.
Do any of you "experts" out there think that this problem might have to do with the recent windows vulnerability and the long awaited patch released today?
There are lots of news reports out there indicating that this particular windows flaw was very critical and my problems started right about the time the flaw was recognized.
I restored my IPOD as suggested with the 5 R's and now I am bummed because my IPOD is empty and I finally got my PC to recognize the IPOD but everytime I resynch all of my 37 gigs of MP3s to my IPOD, my PC crashes after about 100 MP3s and gives me the Stop message and this error string -
    STOP: 0x0000007E (0x0000005, 0xDF1BA804, 0xF89FB89C, 0xF89FB598)
    Can anyone please help us?
    thanks
    Zep

Not sure I'd care to be called an expert (or even an "expert").
As the discovery of this "flaw" coincided with the onset of your problem I rather doubt it is the cause, since the flaw must have existed before it was discovered. Blue screens are often (but not always) caused by broken drivers or memory problems. If your OS is generally stable, then it does tend to point towards some sort of a driver issue. It seems to me that the 5R's tends to focus attention on the iPod (I guess apple presume that the OS is OK or they just don't want to go there!). Some people might argue that no (normal) device you attach to the comp should cause it to crash, but that is rather academic for you right now. My suspicion is that it is a problem with the comp - well a device driver or memory. Another possibility is that there is more than one problem - and whichever problem happens first triggers the other.
I doubt if the latest Microsoft patches will fix your problem - but who knows! I'd download and run a decent memory test program (e.g. Memtest86) and make sure you eliminate that as a cause. Are you in a position to attempt a restore? That might be worth considering. Otherwise, try doing a complete uninstall of iTunes and the IPod software and starting over. As a last resort you might need to consider re-installing windows.
I guess you've already done all of the obvious comp things (like running chkdsk). Have you, or are you able to test the iPod on a different comp?

  • Blue screen of death ipod

When I turned on my ipod I got a blue screen of death & then i went through a bunch of information screens thinking it woulld lead me to the end but I hit a brick wall when this screen showed up.... This is the set up:: This is what the screen says on the top :
    Accersorize Test
& on the main screen it says:
    Please plug FW
    LCD ID : 1
    FWPWR : 0
What does that mean? What do I do?
Theres no life bar, I've been keeping plugged in. Should I just let it drain & start over? Or would that be unwise? Would that kill my ipod?
There are some play lists on this ipod i would like to transfer to my new itunes.
Can this be fixed?  (please help)  ty

Not sure how it got to that screen, but it's a diagnostics output.  If you want to get past this, try a hard reset of your iPod.  To do this, first make sure the hold switch is not activated, then press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

  • My mac will restart & show Blue Screen when plugged ipod classic into my mac

When i plugged ipod into my mac and i put to the Disk Mode my ipod , the computer will restart & don't let me to restore my ipod !!!! Please help and give me a solution !!!
My ipod & mac info :
    iPod Classic 160gb (2009)
    Mac Book Pro (2011)
    iTunes 11.1.3

If your computer is  a 2011, you can stop the blue screen by turning off graphic card switching.  Under apple, system preferences, energy, uncheck box.  Temporary fix.  Your logic board may need to be replaced if you are under warranty or have apple care otherwise $1000.00.  May be software or firmware problem but apple has provided no info.  Replacing logic board has corrected problem for some users and not others.  Everything I've mentioned only applies to 2011 MBPs.

  • Blue screen when connect iPod classic

I tried to connect my new iPod classic for the first time and continually get the blue screen of death. I had been using a Nano (2nd gen, not the video one) on this PC without problems, but now when I try to connect the Nano I also get the blue screen. The blue screen references ousbehci.sys for either iPod and says DRIVERIRQL_NOT_LESS_OREQUAL with the Nano only.

I have been working on my little step brothers ipod all day and night trying to fix this problem. I was Googling the issue and i finally came up to a very very old thread from november on the apple support site. I followed the steps and it worked perfectly, I hope this has the same outcome for you as well. The following is the thread that I found.
"Okay, here was my problem….sounds similar to yours but whenever I plugged in my new iPod Classic I got the “blue screen” of death and it shut my computer down. After spending over an hour on the phone with Apple support we were able to resolve the issue.
Right click on “my computer” and select “properties”
Click the “hardware” tab and then select “device manager”
Click the + sign next to “universal bus controllers”
Right click on any items that identified as “usb host controller” or “usb universal host controller”
Click “update driver”, select “yes, this time only” and the next button
Select “install the software automatically” and the next button
It will automatically search and install updated drivers
If you have more than one item on your “device manager” that says “universal bus controllers”; follow the same steps above on all items. I had two “universal bus controllers” on my “device manager” because I had installed an after market USB2 card. After I did the updates it merged them into one.
My iPod Classic “synced” perfectly after I installed the updates. Hope it works for you!"

  • HELP!!!!  Blue screen of death, IPOD a p.o.s.....

In advance - thank you to anyone who can help and/or explain things to me. I'm better than your average bear at tech stuff, but this is well beyond my knowledge area. It's a version of the same problem everyone seems to have:
    1. Ipod worked successfully for 14 months. (2nd generation, no clickwheel)
    2. Connected, ipod claims needs to be reformatted, crashed during.
    3. Apple store reset ipod for a mac, still needed to reformat for windows at home.
    4. Several crashes and various states later, am now repeatedly getting the following:
    - Computer recognizes Ipod, itunes and updater won't.
    - open updater to reset ipod, within minutes get blue screen of death.
    - sometimes only connecting ipod will produce blue screen of death
    - Error messages are as follows:
    STOP 0x000000EA THREADSTUCK_IN_DEVICEDRIVER (Q293078)
    - Event log is telling me the following:
"The Parallel port driver service failed to start due to the following error:
The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it."
"The device, \Device\Harddisk1\D, has a bad block."
"The device, , did not respond within the timeout period."
"An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk1\D during a paging operation."
    - What I have tried: uninstalled and reinstalled ipod/itunes, reset computer to previous dates settings, disabled/enabled through device manager
So, short of heading off to steve job's house to yell at him, what should i do?????? The apple store people claim the actual ipod is fine. is the problem my computer? the cord? the ipod?
Specs: Gateway 200, Windows XP, running through a firewire port.

I will be going away for a long time in a few weeks, as we travel across country for the last move of our lives (and then it will be several weeks before I get internet service again, so I may be off this forum for a month or more). But with you, JB, Charlie and so many others (Otto is in his periodic helpful moods right now :>) I'm sure I won't be missed.
my sympathies ... asset disposal in NZ and moving to NC with a few suitcases was traumatic enough ... moving from one apartment to another in the same
    b complex
after a year was not fun ...
now that Buegie's first aid kit is doing point-duty on some of the installer errors, i think i'm going to be able to spend some time over here again ... so some additional reserves will be available. (amazing how even when treating this as a full-time voluntary-work thing, it's still possible to get overwhelmed for a week or two ...)

It looks as if you have some very old hardware drivers installed - audio and video ones from 2004 even? - not to mention most likely a lot of junk in the Registry. I'd suggest you try the following:
NOTE: If your antivirus or antispyware software is out of date, upgrade or update it first, and make sure no malware is getting in your way. I can't tell from your list if any is installed.
    1) Delete your current versions of iTunes and QuickTime (if installed) completely.
    2) Download some basic cleanup software - Glary Utilities is good, and the free version is plenty - and run the basic utility set. That will get rid of some unneeded files and clean up the Registry. Make sure to let it delete temp files also. THEN SHUT DOWN your computer completely.
    3) Restart after about a minute, and, as suggested, install Service Pack 3 for WIndows XP. If you're not running Automatic Updates, you should be! But if you have to, go to the Microsoft Updates page, and do a manual update, make sure you install ALL critical updates/patches/security updates, etc., and any optional updates related to hardware and/or audio and video. If any update seems unrelated, or if you don't really know what it does, skip it for now.
    4) Go to Dell's website, and in the support section, choose Drivers and Downloads, then choose the Service Tag option. The resulting page will show a list of available driver updates. Before installing each one, check the Device Manager to make sure you don't install an older driver over a newer one AND that you're installing the correct driver for your device.
    5) For all of these steps, restart when prompted - don't choose to Restart Later. If anything goes wrong, it's a lot easier to go back 1 step to a recent good configuration than figure out which of multiple installs caused the problem.
    6) After everything is up to date, install the latest version of iTunes, then try your Nano again.
It's not just the Nano - newer software and hardware will often fail or cause crashes or freezes if you don't keep your OS, applications, and drivers up to date.
Good luck, and have a great holiday season.

  • Blue Screen when connecting iPod Touch -

    Hello,
unfortunately I have no points to reward an answer.
Still, I get my chance to get one from a friendly and understanding person.
The iPod Touch is a "September edition" with firmware 1.1.4 (4A102) lately updated.
Whenever I connect he iPod, my PC immediately crashes with a bluescreen.
I didn't have such problem with previous firmware. I guess I could come back to 1.1.3 and wait for 1.1.5. However, I would rather do it only if there is no other solution.
Thank you in advance for any information and kind regards,
    Richidee

Hi Richidee and welcome to Apple Discussions Forum!
Well, try to follow the instructions above written:
    Go to the computer's properties (Right-click on "My Computer");
    Click the “Hardware” tab and then hit “Device Manager”. A new pop-up window will appear;
    Click the plus sign next to “Universal Bus Controllers” to enlarge their list;
    Right click on any items that identified as “Usb Host Controller” or “Usb Universal Host Controller”;
    Then lick “Update Ddriver”, and configure it to do “this time only” and then hit next button;
    Select “Install the Software Automatically”
It will automatically search and install updated drivers. This should work, the problem comes from your PC and not from your iPod.
PS: You don't need to have points to reward other users with points. Just click "Helpuful" or "Solved" over any post.
    Hope this helps!

  • Blue Screen of Dead when installing Nvidia

Hello everyone, I Have a HP ENVY 15t-j000 and newly formatted because was too slow. When I started to install all the drivers from HP website, everything was running fine and the only driver left to install was the Nvidia GT 740m. I downloaded and installed the Nvidia driver from HP web site, the installation run without problems, I was asked to restarted the computer, but when the computer started, I've logged in and after 1 or 2 minuts I receive a BSOD power state failure (error 0x9F from minidump). I've done a restore to the previous installation, and tryied to install the driver from Nvidia web site, no sucess again (BSOD dpc watch dog violation) Does anyone know how to proceed ? ps: I don't have the recovery partition anymore.

    Hi  ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. It is a great site for information and questions. I have looked into your issue about your HP ENVY 15t-j000 Notebook and issues with Nvidia. I would not install this driver package. I would run the HP Support Assistant. It will install any software and drivers that are needed for your system.
Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant if you need it. Just download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers on your system at the time of purchase or that need updating. Thanks.

  • Computer goes to blue screen when ipod plugged in.

I have tried all angles on this and still haven't been able to figure out.  Can somebody please offer some new knowledge?  I have tried some older suggestions awithout resolution.  Here is what is happening using Windows 7/lastest updated itunes and ipod 80g classic:
My ipod was completely erased after trying to update through itunes as i normally do.  Now when i plug ipod into the itunes, it will not be recognized in the left column and after about 3 minutes my entire computer will go to blue screen and reboot itself.  I have tried restoring, checked diagnostics on ipod.  I think I may need some more info on opening itunes in safe mode and beginning from there, however I'm open for any other suggestions/links.  Thank You

First off, have you made sure your Windows OS is up to date with all the latest patches and updates?  Have you also checked with your PC's manufacturer (such as Dell, Toshiba, etc) to make sure you have all the latest drivers, firmware and BIOS installed?
Does the PC ever blue screen when the iPod is NOT connected?
    B-rock

  • How do you fix blue screen on ipod touch

how do you fix the blank blue screen on an ipod touch?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Blue screen, impossible to detect, update and restore

This is basically what happened a wekk ago before my holiday.
    * tried to update songs, iTunes did not recognize my iPod
    * got a message in a yellow balloon at the start bar with a HDD error and that I needed to preform CHKDSK (check disk for errors)
    * had this error before, with no specific problems of updating and listening to songs
    * my computer rebooted suddenly and showed up several times a blue screen when connecting iPod either with firewire or USB. (my system is win XP home SP1, don't want SP2 to mess up my system)
    * I did not used my iPod for a few days then, so it went into sleep mode, and needed to reboot.
    * iPod did reboot but only some songs worked, others were skipped, untill the ipod remained frozen
    * reset with menu + select
    * folder icon with exclamation, and redirection to apple support pages
    * after MANY resets, back into main menu, same as above, some songs did played, others didn't untill it froze again.
    * Can not preform any restore procedure since iPod updater won't recognize my iPod
    * Can nor manually format coz windows crashes when trying to open explorer.
    * Have no warrenty anymore
Anybody with usefull information how I could restore my ipod, since I think maybe some parts of my hard drive are damaged, and this is causing the firmware to go crazy.
I went into diagnostic mode (menu + select, back + select) and preformed frirewire and HDD check, both were OK...
I don't know what to do anymore...
the guy at apple support telephone line told me that connecting it to a MAC could possibly solve the problem to restore, I will try to pass at the local apple store this afternoon.
    Tnx for all help!
    Gery

I was able to recover my iPod and it's working again like it always used to work
Since I thought it was worthless I wanted to see the iPod from the inside, so I opened it up, and I saw a HUGE pile of dust around the hard drive connector.
I unplugged the harddrive, cleaned everything, and reconnected, and closed my iPod again.
When connecting to my pc I got a message my iPod needed to be formatted under windows, and ipod restore worked.
when disconnecting and reconnecting iTunes recognized him and songs were being transfered.
    No errors since then.
