Blue Screen Kernel Panic? Help!
My ibook has a kernel panic about every 2-3 days. The only way I can get it restarted is to push down hard on the top left side next to the track pad. I have done al of the usual kernel panic fix routines. I believe that somewhere , something isn't making contact on the board so when I push on it it makes temporary contact-but I'm not sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated-thanks, Retha
This is the panic log:

Thanks-I kind of thought that but wasn't sure-I'm going to check it out.
Thanks to all those who help us rookies out!

G4 Quicksilver + Nvidia GeForce4 Ti 4600 = blue screen kernel panic!
After years of flawless service, my G4 Quicksilver had a kernel panic. I restarted, and the OS (10.3.9) wouldn't load. It stopped at the blue screen, and sometimes had another panic. I was able to boot with Safe Mode.
I followed ALL of Apple's suggestions for troubleshooting blue/gray screen and kernel panic. Nothing worked, including reformatting a spare HD and reinstalling Panther. I removed and tested each component: HDs, RAM, SATA card, etc... finally I discoverd that my video card (Nvidia GeForce4 Ti 4600) was responsible! I went back to my stock card (6 yrs old) and it works like a champ.
Is there any hope for my GeForce card? How can a video card work in Safe Mode but not regular mode? Any ideas? Thanks!
Power Mac G4 867 Mac OS X (10.3.9)Forgive me for bumping my own thread, but I do have some new info.
I cleaned all the contacts and re-installed the faulty card, and booted with the side panel open. I noticed the little fan (attached to the video card) spinning slowly, erratically, and making a clicking sound. Also, I am posting the log from the kernal panic. Could it be the crappy fan causing the kernel panic? It still boots in Safe Mode, at which time the fan switches off and the card continues to work. If the card is doomed, can anyone suggest a cheap replacement with DVI out? Thanks.

2004 Emac Kernel panic - HELP PLEASE
So i just recently acquired this 2004 or maybe 2005 Emac desktop computer. My boss said she erased everything from it before giving it to me and now when i start it up it first goes to the white screen with the spinning wheel, and then it goes to the blue screen with the mouse. I ran the techtool delux plan and recieved an error that said the volume structure failed # -987. I then attempted to reinstall the Mac OS x 10.3.5 install disk, it gets to the last step and then says their is an error and to try again. Eventually I recieved the Kernel Panic screen that says "unable to find driver powermac 6,4" i've tried searching all the forums but can't find anything. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!
Great catch Allen, thanks, good eyes!
That appears to be for the USB2 eMacs!

[SOLVED] Blue Screen Of Death help? Info included
Hello everyone,
First of all, I'm new to this forum and I am probably posting this on the wrong section, sorry about that. :(
Lately I've been having a lot of Blue Screens (some were the same problem repeatedly), I've managed to solve some as I already had experience with them, for example internet connection cards and some software problems. I'm an experienced windows user and very
good with tech, so don't be afraid to post "not noob friendly" answers.
But this one I'm having quite some trouble dealing with it, I can't figure out what's the cause and I'm getting desperate because it happens often (every 2 hours, more or less, it depends), I had a virus last week but I managed to deal with it and eliminate
it, it broke my browsers and lead them to crashing every time I opened them so I removed them and I will install them in the future, hoping they will work again.
Sometimes I have blue screens while playing games or just when browsing or even when my computer is idle. Based on the computer management events, the frequency of the blue screen errors has increased a lot last week, (ranging from 1/month to 3/day).
Here are my system specs if that helps:
Operating System
MS Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1
CPU
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 @ 2.83GHz
Yorkfield 45nm Technology
RAM
6.0GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 399MHz (5-6-6-18)
Motherboard
ASUSTeK Computer INC. P5QL PRO (LGA775)
Graphics
Targa Visiona @ 1280x1024
512MB GeForce 9800 GTX/9800 GTX+ (XFX Pine Group)
Hard Drives
977GB SAMSUNG SAMSUNG HD103UJ ATA Device (IDE)
Audio
Realtek High Definition Audio
Windows didn't create a minidump for any of the errors I had so I went to computer management and I got the xml info on the latest bluescreen.

By the way, my power supply is underpowered for my current system build, I know it sounds like it's the PSU fault, but I always had this PSU and the same system for over 2 years and the Blue Screens didn't have nothing to do with it at first (STOP: DRIVER_IRQL,
etc.. that were easily fixed), and when I push my pc to some limits while playing Crysis 2 or some other graphical intensive game, it shuts down. It is
NOT a bluescreen, just a power failure, I tried with a new PSU and it didn't shut down and I actually beat Crysis 2 while using it without a single shutdown.
I've done all the recommended stuff to fix bluescreens, (Defrag, Disk Check, Full antivirus run, clean up, and so on..) but nothing has worked and I can't do specific fixes to the problem because I don't have any clues on what's causing it.
Sorry for being boring and any grammar erros you might find, and
thanks in advance guys! Oh, and if you have any questions or need any more information, just say what you need! :D

EDIT: I have all of my drivers updated.
Installed browsers again (firefox and chrome) and chrome still has the same problem, crashes all the time, almost instantly when I use the search bar. Firefox is fine until now, Microsoft Internet Explorer is working perfectly too.* Bugcheck Analysis *

Wake/Startup is Black and Blue. Kernel Panics?
Hi, Over the last 72 hours my Mac Pro 3.1 has started exhibiting baffling and ever changing behaviour. My boot drives are now a clean boot of 10.6 right off the dvd, and my main drive, which last night was restored from a Time Machine backup, so everything should be nice and clean. The disks have been repaired and permissions corrected from the boot disk and with Onyx.
Essentially these are the problems (They occur on both boot disks):
Wake from sleep does not work. The power light will stop "snoring", but the screen will remain black. I can adjust volume from the keyboard, it's just as though the display isn't woken up (but it stops snoring too) The machine does this on waking, booting or rebooting without any interference.
The kicker is, if I held option to select my boot drive, I'd get video right away and can boot up from either drive. After a couple run throughs, this still works, but the system boots extremely slowly, and hangs with a blue screen for many minutes. A couple times this has reported a kernal panic.
Booting from the SL DVD is very very slow, but normal otherwise.
UPDATE:
The last time I ran onyx and restarted, the machine booted (slowly and hanging with a blue screen) with video without interference. A small step forward. The inconsistencly leads me to believe it isn't a hardware issue, but I really have no clue. I'm baffled.
Any help?Problem isolated...sorry, please see new thread.

Usb + firewire issues = kernel panic - help needed!!
Hello, and please forgive my english, I'll do my best!
So, i have a 1,25 Ghz MDD G4, with 2 x 256 Mo RAM sticks (at first), running mac OS 10.3.9.
As the original HD is too small, I work with my documents on an external firewire HD. The HD is plugged on a third party/PCI firwire card that went down.
On the same day I bought a new firewire card (trendNet, it was said to be mac compatible form mac OS 8.6) and 4 x 512 Mo of Ram (Hynix).
It worked just fine for a week and suddenly my mouse froze (and keyboard too > the mouse is plugged on the keyboard). Having no control on my mac (which seemed ok despite the usb deconnection) I had to hard reboot on the central Unit.
I unplugged the usb hub that occupied mu 2nd usb port (there was a wacom tablet and a flsh memory key on it). I left just the keyboard plugged (and mouse plugged on keyboard).
It was fine for... 2 or 3 hours and then it started again > mouse + keyboard deconnecting/freezing (the keyboard is a mac one, the mouse a microsoft one -optical-).
As the small red optical light of the mouse turns off when the mouse freezes I first thought the mouse or keyboard itself was the culprit.
I tested both of them them on a macbook and they worked just fine (never had a problem with them).
I ran disk utility, repaired the permissions. And it seemed better for a couple of hours.
When it happened again I unplugged the keyboard and plugged it on the 2nd usb port (which was free since I had unplugged everything else) > the mouse "came back to life" and I didn't have to reboot. But it happened again, like 2-3 times (every hour/half hour) until swapping the usb plug on the UC doesn't solve the problem anymore > hard reboot again...
Then I tried EVERYTHING
booting with techtool CD > everything ok, no pb found
running onyx to empty the cash and rerepair the permissions > ibid, no pb
resetting the PRAM with cmd-alt-p-r
resetting the PMU
resetting the usb and firewire ports after each hard reboot
cleaning the dust
removing my old scsi pci card (not used for ages)
moving my new firewire card on an another slot
installing a firmware update
nothing has solved the problem... it seems to arrive randomly, but mostly (more frequently) when working with several apps open.
The cursor seems to freeze for very very short periods (as a warning!) until it freezes for good > it's exactly as if the usb didn't deliver any electricity for micro laps of time (and it is the case I guess as my optical mouse light turns off).
So I change the usb plug into the other port and it works for a while, just as if only one usb port was functional at a time, but it always ends with a hard reboot (no choice).
It's always scary but it's also very annoying as my Western Digital Mybook external drive refuses to mount on desktop after hard reboots... I have to unplug it, replug it, restart etc... well this HD is a pain but I guess it's because it's in FAT 32 (since I forgot to format it when I bought it). So I don't bother too much about the HD itself, but however it seems that the firewire card suffers from this : I have a lot of trouble mounting 2 disks at a time (but with all this I need to backup!). It's like the fiwewire ports (of the pci card) suffered from the same pain as the usb : one at the time! and when I finally mount both external HDs, if I unplug one (after unmounting it and switching it off) the computer freezes.
Then one day I opened itunes, and... kernel panic...
That was 4 days ago I think and I've had like 3-4 KP since then (one a day). These kernel panic happen just as randomly as my usb deconnexions...
Today I tried my last chance : removing the new Hynix ram and putting back my 2 old 256 rams.
It was ok for a pair of hours and then > mouse freeze and kernel panic again...
I reaaally need help, I don't know what to do anymore. I've spent my last week unplugging usb plugs, opening my UC, repairing permissions etc...
now I feel helpless...
Here are some extracts of console logs I've had :

Is my mac dying?? Does all this come from defectible hardware? Is reinstalling a sysem a waste of time?philomene251 wrote:

My complements on that. While I read the post quickly, it was only later that I saw you're in Paris....
Anyway, I'm not an expert on logs (system and panic ones), but from what I can tell there is a problem with the PCI USB/Firewire card you installed. It looks like it's the USB portion of the card; those are happing at startup when I'm pretty sure there's a kind of initial checking of the PCI cards.

The problems with the card at startup are probably creating an unstable condition, which in turn is causing kernel panics later on.
Basic things first, whenever you change the hardware setup, e.g. RAM and adding cards, it's a really good idea to reset-PRAM. Did you do that? Try that first, it's simple and easy enough to try.
If resetting the PRAM doesn't help, then try the new PCI card. I re-read your post a few times, but I haven't seen whether you tried removing the PCI FW/USB card to see if that helps. Try your mouse and some other devises on the native USB and FW ports. If you're stable, then it very well could be the card.
Of course there's also the question of the RAM, which you pulled without help. Again, after any change of the hardware (adding RAM, pulling RAM, adding/pulling cards, etc.) even during testing, reset the PRAM at startup.
With new RAM it's usually a good idea to test it, with say AHT CD or Rember. If you test, you might want to do this without the new card. It's a little tricky right now because you added 2 new pieces of HW (RAM and FW/USB card) either which or both could cause the problems you're seeing. OS X is picky about RAM, and the MDDs in particular are extremely picky about RAM as far as Apple HW is concerned.
Lots of kernel panics can eventually cause damage to the OS X installation. So in the end, it may be worth re-installing. But, before you take that route. Try the simple things like removing the PCI FW/USB card & testing, and testing the RAM. Take it one step at a time. -

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Select the most recent panic log under the heading System Diagnostic Reports on the left. If you don't see that heading, select
View ▹ Show Log List from the menu bar. Post the entire contents of the panic report — the text, please, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header and body of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) My Firefox version is 13.0.1. I'm using Windows 7. Adobe Flash Player version is 11.3.300.265. A few minutes after opened the Firefox, suddenly it crashed and a blue screen showed up, it says there are unexpected error occured and forced my computer to be stopped. I need to restart the computer to see either it still show the blue screen or it just fine. After restarted, I use the Firefox once again, but this time, after about 30 minutes, it crashed again. The same blue screen showed up. As I expected, the new Adobe Flash Update crashes with the Firefox 13.0.1. Really need a solution here. Thank you.
Hi,
Blue screens usually indicate Windows system level problems involving device drivers like graphics card drivers, hardware errors (RAM, hard drive) etc. Malware may also cause this. Searching for the displayed error code would usually provide helpful pointers. The [http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us Windows forum] would also be helpful. -

please help..Please post a copy of your dump file as a shared file to your Sky Drive with a link here.
The dump file will be created at c:\windows\minidump. You may need to change your settings in Windows to be able to see the file. To show hidden files type Folder Options in the search box above the Start button and select View,
Advanced Settings and verify that the box before "Show hidden files and folders" is checked and "Hide protected operating system files" is unchecked. You may need to scroll down to see the second item. You should also make certain that the box before "Hide
extensions for known file types" is not checked.
What is your computer make and model? If not a branded computer what is your motherboard make and model?
Please download and run Driver View and upload a copy of the report it produces to your Sky Drive. To get a report on all drivers select Edit, Select All followed by File, Save Selected Items.
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/driverview.html
Please provide a copy of your System Information file. Type System Information in the Search Box above the start Button and press the ENTER key (alternative is Select Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Information).
Select File, Export and give the file a name noting where it is located. Do not place the cursor within the body of the report before exporting the file. The system creates a new System Information file each time system information is accessed. You need to
allow a minute or two for the file to be fully populated before exporting a copy. Please upload to your Sky Drive, share with everyone and post a link here. Please say if the report has been obtained in safe mode. The request for a copy of this file is additional
to answering the question about make and model.

I have a WRT4G router that was reset yesterday. I enabled WPA security and am getting BSODs on ALL computers connected to the network. I have about 7 to 10 computers connected at once. DHCP is enabled. The BSOD messages are different each time and range from the USB error to IRQ screens. The weird thing is 90% of the time, when my screen goes blue, 3 or 4 others go blue at the SAME TIME with different blue screen messages. I know the issue must be related to the router as all the BSODs at the same time and it's driving me crazy. We did not have this problem before I reset the router. Any ideas?
p.s. virus scans return nill.I agree, nothing is installed on the computers from the router but it seems some action taken by the router causes the BSODs. I have looked at the logs on windows and it seems that it may have something to do with the MASTER BROWSER or something. Maybe a name resolution problem. We also play a game on the internet. I have scanned for viruses but no luck. Should a restore help or do we need to do something else?

Radom Reboots and blue screens! Please help!
I just bulit a new system and I am having major problems with it.
Specs First:
Amd Barton 2500 running at stock speeds 1.8 gigs
512 mb of Corsir ram running a stock timmings
200 gig maxtor hd with 8 mb of cache
K72NG mobo using the Nvidia drivers
480 wt Antec ture power PSU
Win Xp Pro no SP installed.
Ok heres the deal. As soon as I got the PC up and running and Xp installed on the HD, I went to nvidias site and downloaded the latest drivers. Installed those and thats it. Things where going ok for a while then I started having random reboots. Even when the system is 100% idle it just goes to a black screen and reboots. Same thing that hitting the reset button would do while in windows. It started happening more and more. I first thought it was my power supply. I was using a 400 wt raidmax at that time, but I checked and it had the specs of a 300 wt psu so I thought that might be the problems. After reading a review of it, they reported having some random reboots with chips that were around 1.8 gigs which is what mine is. So I ordered a 480 wt Antec ture power PSU. I installed that and I still had the same random reboots. So then I ran prime95 to test the memory and cpu. Prime would get a error after about 3 sec. So at this point in time I was thinking it was the memory. Before I tested the memory I reinstalled XP over it's self to save my programs and to see if it was just a bad install. It randomly rebooted like 40 times during the install casuing it to take about 4 hours. Once it was reinstalled the random reboots were still happening, but not as often. I am not getting fatal blue screen errors. They all appear to be memory releated. So at this point I took my pc over to a friends house and swaped out my memory with his. We noticed that XP was reading both of our memory sticks as only 480 mb and not 512. We thouhgt if it read it as anything it should be 524mb. In any case we put in his good, working memory that we knew worked fine. Same things, blue screens and programs having to be shut down due to errors. I am now at the point where I have no idea what it could be. I DO know its not the PSU and Memory sticks. I am also pretty sure the CPU is fine. And yes its cooled fine and the HSF is installed right. So I am lost and really need some help, my pc is total un useable right now. I am going to E3 this week and will have a TON of stuff to do when I get back. Any ideas would be great.I really need to get this fixed ASAP. The only thing I can think of is maybe I have a bad mobo. Or some how my XP install is screwed up. The last thing i will try is installed XP on a new 20 gig hd and seeing if that will run. Anyone here have any ideas on what the problem could be and how to fix it?"then look to your cooler
the other 32 mb of ram is what bios has allocated to your vga card use by the way "
Ahh yes forgot about the onboard gpu. But dude, it's not my cooler. My temps are fine I know how to install a HSF and I have the best one out there. My CPU is cooled damn good.
"it could still very well be some type of memory errors....try setting fsb @133 and memory at fsb/dram 1.1 all timings manual 6/3/3/2.5.....give it ago....if it works underclocked then it is still memory related."
Even when I swaped out with a diffrent stick of ram that we knew was working? I am not using cheap ram btw, I am using high proformance ram running at stock speeds :( FSB is set at 166 right now, the only setting I changed on the ram was running it at cas 2 instead of the bios default 2.5. I think the timings are underclocked right now, will have to check when I get home from work since I do not rember what I set them to last exactly. -
Early 2009 Mac Pro - Kernel Panic help please
I'd really appreciate some help troubleshooting KPs, please.
My machine is a Mac Pro early 2009, 16GB Ram, 2x30" Apple Cinema Displays, secondary display connected via mini display port adaptor.
I'm getting a KP every couple of days and the frequency seems to be increasing.
I think the Panic logs point to internet access as being the source of the problem. In the log that I've posted, an app called Radium is mentioned in the "
BSD process name corresponding to current thread" - Radium is an internet radio app and I was getting KPs before I installed it.
Previous panic logs have mentioned Chrome in place of Radium.
In the "unloaded kexts" com.apple.driver.AppleIntel8254XEthernet makes me this this is possibly internet related.
I have tried using ethernet port B instead of A in case port A was faulty, but the panics still happen. Maybe I could try connecting over wifi next.
I've booted into single user mode (64 bit kernel by holding the 6 and 4 keys during boot) and ran memtest overnight for 5 loops - all Ram checks out fine.
I've zapped PRAM and checked and reseated all RAM, HDs and GPU. Carefully cleaned all internal components of dust.
Any help would be very gratefully received, thanks in advance for any ideas.
