Blue Screen of Death fixes... Problems identified, Please help...

I ran a blue screen error test and found that nwifi.sys and Rdyboost.sys were causing those problems. Does anyone know what those are, what they do, how they fail and how I can fix them?
Also what's the best way to make sure EVERYTHING IMPORTANT in Windows 8 is current and upto date?
Thanks.

Hello @robles4242,
I have read your post on how your computer has found a few system files that are causing issues on your computer, and I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
To resolve the issue with the files you have identified, I recommend following the steps in this document on Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files. I also suggest following this resource on Computer Locks Up or Freezes (Windows 8). This should help to prevent any further incidences of a Blue Screen on your system.

  • Stop Error / Blue Screen of Death... Please Help

    Hello,
I have been having problems with my desktop computer ever since I Installed the BT Total Broadband software.
I have seen a similar topic regarding the Stop error and BSOD,but the problem there appears to be with a wireless connection with a laptop. I, on the other hand, am using an ethernet cable connection with a desktop, so I am not sure if the fix will also work for me.
The problem I have am having is that my computer frequently either resets or BSOD's, with an IRQ_Less_Or_Equal message. This usually occurs within minutes of any kind of internet navigation, and after it has occured once, the problem seems to persist, causing my computer to freeze during bootup, or crashing/resetting shortly after windows (eventually) loads successfully.
Please help, this is driving me crazy!

Thanx again for the replies guys, this is all very helpful!
Firstly, Im running windows XP, SP3.
Also, I have to admit the inside of my computer is quite dusty and could use a good clean.
Finally, its interesting to note that although my computer has a habit of crashing/resetting/BSODing quite regularly during online activity, sometimes the system seems to stabilise, and will run perfectly well for hours at a time.
However I have reached a point where the continual errors, and the resulting 100x crashes and windows failing to load has driven me to seek professional help (here, not a pyschiatrist )

  • Blue screen of death desktop widows 7 Bit help!!!

A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is your first time you've seen this stop error screen,
restart your computer. If this screen appears again follow
    these steps:
Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed.
If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer
for any Windows updates you might need.
If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware
or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing.
If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart
your computer, press F8 to select advanced startup options, and then
    select Safe mode.
    Technical information:
    *** STOP: 0x0000006B (0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000)
ill look back  later on today or tomorrow around 5Pm eastern time.

I would just like to follow up on deusexmachina's solution and explain how to delete that file without booting from the drive.
Boot from a Windows 7 disc/USB and after it loads press SHIFT+F10 to bring up the command line.  From here, you can navigate to the "C:\Windows\System32\codeintegrity\" directory and delete the "bootcat.cache" file and reboot.
If you do not have Windows 7 bootable media to boot from then you can download the ISO from here and burn to a disc or use a USB drive:
    http://www.mydigitallife.info/official-windows-7-sp1-iso-from-digital-river/
Another option would be to pull the physical drive from the computer and access it using another desktop or laptop to manually delete the "bootcat.cache" file as well.
Afterwards, please upgrade to Service Pack 1, so this issue cannot repeat itself.

This one DMP file was inconclusive please run driver verifier to find the underlying cause
Please run these tests to verify your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.
If you are overclocking (pushing the components beyond their design) you should revert to default at least until the crashing is solved. If you don't
know what it is you probably are not overclocking.
Since it is more likely to be a driver please run verifier first.

  • BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH! KERNEL PANIC! HELP!

Hi guys. What's up? I was using my MacBook today, and i left it there for a couple minutes. When i returned back i saw that it had got a kernel panic. It said "Please Shut down and hold the power button" or something like that. And i know that i was going to get a kernel panic sooner or later because i have had the spinning beach ball of death for about 3 weeks. Anyway, now when I turned off my MacBook, i held down the power button to do a firmware update. And it went to the blue screen, but it just stayed there for about 10 minutes, untill i finally just decided to turn off my computer again. So I turn it back on and it went to the blue screen, and like last time it stayed ont the blue screen. So i thought it was the blue screen of death. Please help me out here! I dont know what to do!

Holding down the power button does not do a firmware update. It just resets your computer. Firmware is the code that resides in your system's ROM that makes hardware run more efficiently, or have specific features enabled (such as airport cards having various speeds enabled).
You can try booting off the install DVDs to see if the system will boot at all (this will test whether or not it's the hardware). From the installer you can run Disk Utility to try to fix the drive and fix file permissions to see if that helps. If nothing helps, you can reinstall the OS by using an "Archive and Install" method, which will preserve your user files and only replace the system files.
Alternatively, if you have a Time Machine backup you can restore from that using your Leopard DVD.

  • HP Pavillion HPE H8-1270 - Blue Screen on Start Up Problem.. Help Please!

I don't often turn my pc off, as I know they don't like it BUT today I did & to my horror, when I turned back on I got the dreaded Blue Screen!  Driver light is non responsive, won't read a disc, can't F11 to Safe Mode.. NIGHTMARE!  I use Acronis as a Back Up (as well as external drive) but can't even get to that!  Had no previous warning that there were any errors etc so really don't know what has happened or what the problem could be.  Maybe Hard Drive failure?  Even if the **bleep** thing decides to come on, I will be worried that this will happen again!  Any suggestions?  Thanks in advance...

  • Blue screen errors in W8.1 . Please help !

I've recently started to get these blue screen errors .. Sometimes its system service exception and sometimes its related to irql.. It usually happens when I quit a game or rarely happens while playing games .. Please help me and provide fix for this ..
I have uploaded the dump files to mediafire and given the link below..

These crashes were related to memory corruption (probably caused by a driver).

If you are overclocking (pushing the components beyond their design) you should revert to default at least until the crashing is solved. If you don't

  • So many blue screens XP and W2k...please help me.

Thanks for all the advice, Now for a conundrum that is linked (I bealive) to the IRQL....Blue Screen Stop Error.
as a reminder the system hardwear setup at current is this:
    1) 1x VData 333mhz PC2700 256mb 2.5v Ram (installed in slot one)
    2) 1800+ AMD
    3) Sony DVD-ROM (Secondary Master)
    4) IBM DTLA-307045 7200Rpm (Primary Master)
    5) CoDegen 300w PSU
    6)Radeon 9100 Atlantis 128mb DDR AGP x4 G/Card
    7) MSI 745 Ultra Main board
     EIDE 40pin/40wire cable from SonyDVD -> IDE1
    9) 40pin/80 wire IDE UDMA cable from IBM HD -> IDE0
I have turned of all caching apart from the internal cache with the Auto PNP OS in the bios disabled and the rest of the settings on default, I have also updated the Bios from AMi 1.4 to AMI 1.5. On trying to install W2k I recive (half way through the installation) randomly the following Blue screen stop errors:
    a) 0x00000050
    b) 0x0000001a
    c) 0x00000023
    d) KMODE_....can't remember the rest (at work)
    e) PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
on XP installation I get the following:
    a) 0x00000050
    b) 000000008e
    c) PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
    d) 0x0000007b
I have tried installing XP with the internal cache disabled and it works very slowly but does eventually install XP, on enabaling internal caching XP blue screens and restarts the computer automaticlly after around 5 - 30 mins of use. the same with windows 2000 but it freezes on starting up the first time.
I have also run memtest86 v2.9 for 3 hours and it has come up with the following results (total errors are 82):
    badram patterns:
    0x0fe15008,0x0fe15008,0x0dd11008,0x0dd11008,0x0f714808,0x0f714808,0x0de14c0 8,0xffffffc,0x0c70d000,0x0c70d000,0x0de14a78,0xffffffc,0x0de14ac8,0x0de14b1 8,0xffffffc,0x0d701008,0x0d701008,0x0b529008,0x0b529008
on this I would go out and buy new ram, but as the problem only comes up (for XP) when I enable internal cache, could it be the Stick of ram or the CPU Cache? I have been told by a local dealer that Xp does not like Cache, how can this be? it slows the system down so much when disabled. I am almost in dispare on the problem. please could someone help. I'm confused weather its the CPU or memory stick or (dread to think) the motherboad or even all 3.
    Many thanks,
    Quinton. ;(

I had very similar probs with xp. Blue screens and all that half way through copying installation files. It would go to various percentages of copying the files when the blue screens would come up, variuos errors would come up. I was using 256mb DDR PC2100 and i swapped it with some 256mb DDR PC2700 and i installed xp ok after that. I will be able to tell shortly if the mem module was knackered when i try to install it into another machine. i found the error codes on MS website by putting the error codes into google and searching and the codes pointed to ram being at fault.

  • Blue Screen of Death Please Help!!!

Hi Everyone. I'm having some major issues with my iPhone 5s (16GB updated to iOS 8.1.1). Literally every time I so much as look at the phone it restarts and gives me the Blue Screen of Death. This happens randomly. At one time it was just a minor annoyance (as it only happen occasionally), but now it is unbearable. My phone is on a constant cycle of Black Screen, Apple Screen, and then Blue Screen.
Before you ask, yes I have reset all of the settings, yes I have tried holding down the home button and the lock button, and yes I have tried wiping my entire phone (in the past) to get rid of this problem.
Please help! Nothing I have done or tried to do is fixing this problem.
Thank you so much in advanced.

If you have restored the device as new and tested it without using your backup and it is still malfunctioning, then you need to make an appointment with the Genius Bar of the nearest Apple Store or Authorized Apple Service provider, depending on your location, and have the hardware checked.

  • Same problem everyone else is having with Blue screen of death

Only I have a dell dimension e521 brand new computer have had for about 3 months now and my ipod worked fine until today. I plug it in the usb port and in about 5 minutes my computer will go to the blue screen of death. If I unplug the ipod I can work on my computer with no problems but the 5 minutes after plugging in the ipod the computer goes to BSOD. I am also working off of Windows Vista. Any fixes you can think of will be greatly appreciated. I saw other people where having similar problems but I didn't see anyone working off a dell.
    Thanks!

Well I've tried PRETTY MUCH all of the suggested solutions. I really don't feel like going out and buying another SCI card for my laptop only to find out it doesn't fix the problem. Yes, I'm on a Dell Inspiron 4150 laptop, running XP and connecting the iPod through the USB port on the SCI card (it's a dual card, which also has a firewire port).
I also don't feel like going through the hassle of buying a firewire cable only to find out that it doesn't fix anything either.
I spent a good hour on the phone with Apple tech support and got nowhere. She had me uninstalling, re-installing, re-booting, running msconfig, turning off Norton, setting the iPod in "disk mode", uninstalling and reinstalling some more, etc. and in the end nothing made a difference!
I can get the Updater to recognize the iPod, but when I click the "restore" button I keep getting that "can't mount iPod" error. (And I know for a fact that Windows is installed on the C Drive, so that can't be the problem.)
This is so frustrating. The tech support lady said if the last thing didn't work (which it didn't) then to call them back and they would continue to try and figure out how to solve the problem.
It really shouldn't be this complicated, should it? Why don't they make an iPod that is pre-formatted for use with a PC??

  • Blue Screen of Death with v.8 upgrade.  Please help!!!

I tried upgrading to itunes v.8, but got blue screen of death. I've tried several times, with the same result. I tried suggestion on here...I went to itunes.exe and changed compatability to XP, but when I click it, it says there is a problem that needs to be repaired in Programs & Features...when I go to Programs & Features, itunes isn't even listed. Please help, we have 3 ipod devices that we can't update now.

UPDATE: I have found and installed v.7.7...seemed to install OK. Wouldn't run though. Went into Programs & Features and did repair...said it was successful, but still won't run. I am SO stuck!

  • Blue Screen of Death when syncing with iTunes. Please HELP!

I have noticed a few others experiencing this problem as well.
    http://www.everythingiphone.com/forum/windows-pc-and-iphone/blue-screen-error-wh en-i-plug-the-phone-into-my-xp-laptop-3038.html
Aside from the (don't use windows XP comments), does anyone have any information on this? I have emailed Apple a couple times but have gotten no answer back yet.
What is happening is that when I plug in my iphone to itunes a "Digital Still Camera" pops up in the system tray and then blue screen of death appears. Some people have said that all you have to do is delete all your photos and it will sync, but does anyone have any other suggestions without having to delete all my photos anytime I want to sync?
Thanks for the help in advance.

The first response was correct, the computer (xps 1210) used a logitech camera driver that I did not recognize so I deleted it. The software was still active and crashed the computer. Fix was reinstall logitech software and driver. Updating the driver would have probably worked. Thank you!

  • How to fix the Blue Screen of Death for iPhone 5S?

I have an iPhone 5S and I never got water on it, dropped it, or inflicted any kind of damage upon it. But one day when I turned it on it kept getting this blue screen and then restarting CONSTANTLY. This is referred to as the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD). Does anyone know how to actually fix this problem besides just restoring the phone (I already tried that.)

    Hi ..
If you restored the iPhone to factory settings and it still won't startup correctly, make a reservation at a Genius Bar.

  • Persistent blue screen of death problems on Toshiba laptop pc; need help

    hey, guys,
I was hoping you could help me out here.  I have been experiencing persistent blue screen of death problems on my Toshiba laptop since December 21 of 2014.  The first two times I started having theses persistent issues, I downloaded a bunch of redundant programs and games onto my computer, some of which were virus infected.  I had these programs on my computer for a while before my laptop was taken in for repairs.  I eventually uninstalled some unnecesssary programs from my pc, hoping it would have fixed these issues, even tried windows update.  I didn't have a clue that my problems were due to virus infections/malware until the two most recent times my computer was taken in for repairs; I had always been thinking it was a defective driver.  My laptop has already been in for repairs at least twice due to these perpetual BSOD problems; I had Norton Internet Security installed on my pc before the Geek Squad team (who repaired my computer and found 312 traces of malware in my system during the virus test; I was told by them that I had mistakenly downloaded infected web browsers onto my pc) switched me to Webroot SecureAnywhere (they said it was better at detecting viruses/malware than my NIS), but even after my pc has been through repairs twice in a row, I am still experiencing blue screens (this only seems to have happened once each week, and on one occasion, I went through almost two weeks without it occurring).  I am pretty sure, that I haven't downloaded anything onto my computer infected with viruses/malware (each of the scans done by my Webroot antivirus have found nothing), I have only a few games/apps installed on my pc, and what I downloaded all came from Microsoft's official website.  I can't afford to be wasting any more money on repairs, and I am desperately searching for any possible way to fix this myself.  Any help would be appreciated.  I have a copy of two of the memory dumps from my most recent crashes (I also have the dump reports from my most recent crashes dating back to March 6; I got these from an app from NirSort called Blue Screen View, if you need those)  I also have my system specs:
    http://1drv.ms/1I6AsaE
    http://1drv.ms/1Qdsb7T
Note that many of these earler dump reports (the ones from March) came from viruses.  The ones from most recently as last month, I am not sure about.

Thrashing about this way gets us nowhere.
Best to restore the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents.
Settings > Change PC settings > Update and recovery tab > Recovery tab > Remove everything and reinstall Windows
Use the freshly restored machine for a day or so before any installations of hardware, software, or updates of any kind. If you get no crashes, the problem is not likely due to hardware.
Then add updates and other things slowly, keeping track of them. If you get crashes after that, give us the corresponding dmp files.
