Blue screen of death - Windows7 on 24" iMac (white) with 7600GT gfx upgrade
I'm thinking this might be a warning to people in similar situations...haven't got a workaround yet...so I installed Windows7 beta (genuine 7000 public build from Microsoft) through BC. Went fine no probs at all, until it wanted to fire up windows with the proper GUI for the first time...got a bluescreen saying that nvlddmkm.sys (nvidia driver) was the culprit. That is as far as I can go. Tried reinstalling, tried to allow unsigned drivers, tried to force 640x480, safe mode, tried them all, and BSOD every time.
Also tried using "last known good settings" and it just restarts without warning. Nothing I have done can get it past the screen that says "Windows is getting ready to run for the first time".
I've installed without issue via Fusion and that is working so I know it isn't the install disc I made, but I guess this is just a heads up for those with the 7600GT...don't install (unless there is an answer forthcoming of course)
Cheers
OK, I have a workaround, and it seems to be stable enough atm (I'm using it with chrome to submit this so I guess it is ok)
It is messy but as of now I've been able to rate the computer (with the experience thingy) which has always BSOD'd on me before even if I have been able to get to the desktop so here goes:
Method 1
you need MacFuse - http://code.google.com/p/macfuse/
you need 3G-NTFS (Fuse plugin) - http://www.ntfs-3g.org/
ok...so you are bluescreening and can't even fire up for the first time? even when you go to safe mode it says "you need to finish setting up windows first".
go back to MacOS, install Fuse and 3G-NTFS and reboot. Go into the 3G control panel and after authenticating you should be presented with a "mounted volumes" dropped down with your volume selected. If so close the panel and open your drive. Navigate to Windows:system32:drivers: rename nvlddmkm.sys to nvlddmkm.sys.old or just delete it. Close everything down and reboot into windows7. You should now get past "starting windows for the first time" and into some awesome windows7 640x480 action!
Method 2:
Reboot PC and rapid-fire tap F8 key to bring up the safe mode menu. Go to safe mode with command prompt and use your DOS skills to rename or move the offending file. (Writing this I can't remember if I was able to boot into this mode without "running windows for the first time")
Once loading the desktop I tried a few things...this is what ended up working for me:
Grab your MacOS install DVD and insert. When it pops up asking to run setup ignore that and jump into regedit. The solution offered elsewhere in the forum worked well for me which was:
Change
Computer\HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion
from 6.1 to 6.0
exit, click on the run setup option and allow BootCamp to install. Reboot and either download the 2.1 update to bootcamp beforehand or allow it to update. Let it do it's thing.
Last thing is to run windows update, under optional install there should be an nVidia update, install it....and voila! more stable than I've seen it yet.

Windows Vista Crashing When Ipod is Plugged In. Blue Screen of Death?
A week ago, my computer suddenly started to reboot whenever I plugged my 5th generation 80 gig Ipod in to sync. A blue screen will pop up, and automatically restart.
I do not believe this is the blue screen of death that appeared 2 months ago. I have upgraded to Itunes 8.0.1 when it was first released, and I had no problems until a week ago. I haven't heard of anyone receiving the blue screen of death since the update to Itunes 8 was released.
I have also lost all of my music from my Ipod, so I am anxious to figure this out.
Here is what the blue screen (certain passages paraphrased, the specifics were copied directly):
A problem has been detected and windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
BADPOOLHEADER
If this is the firs time you've seen this stop error screen, restart yoru computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
Make sure all hardware and software is properly installed
If it continues, disable/remove any newly installed hardware and software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shawoding. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 for Advanced Sartup options, then select safe mode.

Any help you have would be greatly appreciated!Have you tried the troubleshooting advice in this article?

Blue screen of death twice 2 days after receiving T510
Hi all,
I encounter the dreaded Blue Screen of Death 2 times in two days, with a brand new T510.
The first one came as such a surprise in a meeting that I couldn't catch what it was. The 2nd time happend just now and I decided to post and ask for advice. The error for this time is "bad_pool_header" - not sure what that is.
The 2nd time is not necessarily the same as the 1st time. It seems that the display driver is not very stable. There were various times that, when I open the lid while connecting to an external monitor, the whole image on the external screen flickered vigorously. Windows 7 complain the display driver had crashed and windows has recovered from the error. I suspect the first time Blue Screen may be related to this too.
Anyway, although I like this system a lot, two blue screens in two days after receiving the new machine on Wednesday is pretty frustrating to me. Would Lenovo please iron out some stable and high quality drivers with the Windows 7 "Enhanced" Experience? May be with the parts manufacturer please?
Thanks all!
CampionI would start with installing the latest bios and video driver updates off of lenovo's site. (do not use the TVSU since that tends to be slower at propigating new updates). It is new hardware and there is the possiblity of drivers and/or bios being updated since the drive images Lenovo installs from where created.
Of course random BSOD's could also be bad ram. I would try running MemTest86 on the system and making sure it can successfully pass the tests, and make sure you call customer service and report this so that they know of the issue moving forward.
Best of luck!

8.1.2 blue screen of death
Hi
This year i bought an iPhone 5s. When i did the last update the 8.1.2 my iphone started to block and the battery is extremely hot. When i double tap the home button he also blocks, after that i have a blue screen of death and hes restarting. He did this for 3 times in a row.
When i play games he blocks and do the same.
Can anyone help me?
Thx. GillesT11This is SERIOUSLY ridiculous. Not just ridiculous. In the past 3-4 weeks I have seen the blue screen of death, as well as; grey, white, shimmering (tough to explain...), blue-green, etc, etc. There are times where I can not use my phone for an hour because it is constantly resetting itself. Finally broke down tonight and deleted everything and started from scratch. Guess what... couldn't even get through set up without seeing my newest best friend. I have never seen this many blue screens on a MSFT device... and I even had the first Windows Mobile phone (and Windows ME...). Yeah. That is scary people... PLEASE help Apple. You really need to look at testing the newest iOS on the device right behind your new, shiny, flagship. This phone isn't a year old...
5s - iOS 8.1.2 - can't use it half the time now. -
N97 SW Update - Blue Screen of Death or Timing Out
Hi
I’m trying to upgrade N97 firmware 12.0.024 to 20.0.19 I’ve had a few problems in the upgrade process.
1. When I first tried it with software updater I got a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD), I tried this again with Ovi v2 and got a similar issue today.
2. From the handset SW updates are not available yet.
3. After getting rid of the BSOD problem I then tried updating and the phone with SW Updater and the phone effectively switches off causing the update to time out so it just won’t do it’s thing. The phone starts again which is fine but the update just never continues.
4. Have already tried doing factory reset, soft and hard to no avail
Does anyone have any ideas?
Cheers

Blue screen of death with HDD Hardware Test error on iMac HELP!!
My iMac is not starting up. It just get the blue screen of death during startup. It is a 2.66 mghz duo with 2gb 800 ram. I was able to get the Hardware test to run and got an error of 4M0T/2/40000004: HDD-1560. I am assuming it is an error with the internal hard drive since I have nothing else hooked up to the mac other than the keyboard and mouse right now. Does this code mean my hard drive is completely shot? Any help would be appreciated.
4M0T/2/40000004: HDD-1560.
Either failing or failed
You can have Apple replace the drive at a nearby Apple store or an Apple certified repair shop.

Blue Screen of Death in Windows
Hello,
I am getting the Blue Screen of Death about once a every few days. My iMac does not do this. Please help. My HD is defragmented. I have Windows XP Home.
Thanks!Having same problems on Windows XP SP3 on my MacBook. Both Mac OS X and XP are up to date. I'll admit I haven't defragmented in a while, but I haven't been using it that long and I don't do much heavy stuff on it so I didn't think that'd be an issue(??). It'll do it without warning, normally a blue screen almost immediately followed be a reboot; sometimes it's a screen-freeze instead. It only started a month ago and when it happens, it's only on XP and every few days, but I've lost work because of it and it's driving me nuts!
I'm sorry I'm not awfully technical, but has anyone got any ideas? Would reinstalling Windows be a good idea and if so how would you do it?
Thanks for any help!

WiFi Wireless Setup Wizard produces Blue Screen of Death on Officejet Pro 8600 Plus
The wireless setup wizard on my Officejet Pro 8600 Plus is failing immediately after "scanning for networks". I get a blue screen of death with error message B8494B00, followed by "turn printer on and off" with flashing screen.
I bought the printer about one month ago and it has worked perfectly so far. My Apple Time Capsule failed yesterday, so I bought a new one (latest model) and had to set up the wireless network again. When I tried to do so on the printer, I got the error for the first time. Nothing else had changed. Other devices are working with no problems on the new network. The computer is an Apple iMac running OS Mountain Lion.
I have tried turning the printer on and off, disconnecting the power and reconnecting, then turning it on again, but no result. I have restored the wireless to factory settings, but no difference.
Please help.Right off I have to tell you I do not "speak Mac".
I assume the "Apple Time Capsule" is a name for a network router? A syncing device?
Unless I am mistaken:
You do not need the Wizard to set up the network -- it is pretty software for an HP PC; when it works, it can make things easier. The setup Wizard is not necessary for the process. I should think this is true for the Mac.
=====================================================================================
If you cannot get someone from the Printing group to answer your specific concern,
you may have succes with the following:
The User Guide has pretty good detail on how to set up the networking necessary to get the printer connected to either a PC or Mac environment. Assuming you can get the printer to "Reset network settings" (User Guide, page 222), then you can re-enter the information you require manually. It is a bit tedious, but is may work better than fighting the Wizard.
OfficeJet Pro 8600 User Guide
You may be able to circumvent sone or all of this by reinstalling the Full Feature Software for your printer -- that assumes you are first able to "reset network settings", at least, and get a printout test page to verify that the reset actually worked.

Windows blue screen of death crash during Boot Camp driver install
I have been trying to get Windows running under Boot Camp on my 2.66 GHz Alu iMac, but without success.
Boot Camp partitions the drive and Windows XP SP2 installs properly. I boot into Windows, and then insert my Leopard install DVD to install the Apple drivers.
The driver installation gets about halfway, then the machine crashes with a blue screen of death and restarts automatically. It puts me back in Windows, with no drivers installed.
I am installing the Boot Camp drivers from the Leopard retail DVD. This machine is missing the Leopard install/restore discs that came with it, and Apple want to charge £99 for a replacement set.
Is there any way I can get the Boot Camp drivers installed, or do I need to find a friend with the exact same machine and original system discs and use those?Aloha Adam.
Don't know whether this is helpful, but below is a list of drivers that are installed (as of Aug 08).
Also, if you have not already, you may find FAQ helpful, as well, at URL: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1656
Lastly, though they're a year old, the Update 2.1 is in .exe format, so if you can get it the .exe download package onto your installed Windows OS somehow (e.g., copied onto a CD, IF Windows can read it), you might stand a chance of alternate means of installing the drivers.
If this helps, please so indicate.
Thanks,
HJ

Hardware Acceleration Causes Blue Screen of Death - Resolution?
My computer running Windows 7 64 bit started crashing with Blue Screen of Death when Viewing YouTube videos or other videos like The Daily Show. The "solution" was to turn off hardware acceleration.
The crashing appears to have stopped, but now the video quality is degraded and jerky, to the point that the video can just freeze while the audio continues. So either I crash or I have poor video playback.
Has anyone found a solution to the BSOD that would enable me to re-activate hardware acceleration?
Symptoms with hardware acceleration enabled: Computer will crash after playing a handful of YouTube or other online Flash videos. Exact number of successful playbacks varies, but it will usually crash somewhere around the sixth playback (I cruise YouTube the way other cruise Wikipedia.) The screen will first flash black on one video, and when the next video starts, the computer crashes.

Blue Screen of Death - only safe mode fully boots
Here's a question for speculation. My iMac G5 (ALS) will not boot up past the blue screen of death, except in safe mode. I've reset the PRAM, I've attempted Verbose Mode (but don't know what I'm reading there). I've attempted booting from the Leopard Installation Disk and from a firewire external drive with Leopard and Tiger installed on it. All I ever get is the blue screen and spinning beach ball. If can't boot from the optical drive, then I can't do an archive and reinstall. I used Tech Tool Pro Deluxe to do everything except a surface scan of the Hard Drive and everything passed (I couldn't find my apple hardware test disk).
The good news is that my data is backed up and I'm still covered by Applecare. I turned it in to the Genius Bar this morning and they had no idea what to do either (Hopefully they have a Genius Bar of their own). At this point the debate is simply academic. What do you think went wrong? The drive may have been intact , but the main memory would have been replaced by the new board, so the old info would be gone. Look at [this|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motherboard].
Hope all continues well, -
Blue screen of death when i go to sync
I got an ipod classsic 6th generation. When I connect it to itunes it begins to sync but then it freezes and goes to the blue screen of death. Numbers appear which I will post later. Please help!
There IS another way to try this.
Boot to Windows and right-click My Computer or My Documents and open as "explore". Insert the Leopard disk. If it offers to install STOP it. Click on the LEFT side the plus sign next to the machine's DVD drive icon (the reason we opened the "explore" style directory). The Boot Camp files are now passive but exposed. Next right click My Computer and click properties. Next hardware and then device manager. Now you can one-by-one install the drivers using Windows hardware wizard. You might even want to drag the contents of the Leopard disk (drivers) right on to your (Windows) "desktop". In device manager open Human Interface Devices - you will find Apple Keyboard or whatever an iMac has there. Rightclick and hit Update Driver - the Wizard opens. Click 'no - not this time' and continue. Click 'install from a specific location' and continue. Next the Wizard gives you a 'browse location' option. Just click around until you locate the Boot Camp drivers in your disk or desktop and proceed - it will update, I promise you. -
Blue screen of death when La Cie external firewire drive connected
I tested a LaCie external firewire drive on my iMac and it worked fine. I packed it up well and posted it to a friend who gets the blue screen of death when the LaCie is connected to her iMac. She's not even trying to boot from it.
My iMac is 9.1 and hers is 8.1. We are both running Snow Leopard. Was there some problem once upon a time with chipsets or am I mis-remembering?
TIACreate an ISO (Encore) or folder on your hard drive (Encore or Premiere Elements) and then use the FREE http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download to write files or folders or ISO to disc for DVD or BluRay (send the author a PayPal donation if you like his program)
Imgburn will read the ACTUAL disc brand from the disc, which is not always the same as the box label (Memorex is notorious for buying "anything" and putting it inside a Memorex box)
When you write to disc with Imgburn, use the SLOWEST possible speed setting, so your burner has the best chance to create "good, well formed" laser burn holes... since no player is required to read a burned disc, having a "good" one from a high quality blank will help -
Windows 7 - Memory Dump problem ! Blue screen of death !! HELP
Hey guys,
I have an iMac 27 inch 2011 running Windows 7 home premium 64bit using bootcamp. My computer specs are
I Mac OSX 10.7
CPU - Intel i7 3.4 ghz quad core
RAM - (16 gb )
VIDEO - ATI Radeon HD 2 GB
I installed windows 7 on my imac using bootcamp today. It was working fine until i started installing things and i ran into the blue screen of death saying Memory dump. This message only shows for about 2 seconds and then restarts my computer. It randomly happens, such as internet explorer or just on my homescreen.
Thanks in advance for you help.
Thank youTo locate any of the forums click the Apple Support Communities link in the upper left of this page, then type in the first word of what you're looking for.
As for returning the machine no, I suspect you just have an installation problem. Macs run MS Windows in Boot Camp better than most dedicated Windows boxes. -
Bootcamp Blue Screen of Death.. Apple USB Driver ?
This started to occur to me after I upgraded to the Leopard
drivers for Bootcamp.
I have seen this occur two times while booted in Windows XP.
Both after I left the machine idle for a long period of time..
about 3-4 hrs.
1) Conditions - machine is idle.. the screen energy saver is on
and the monitor is in low power/sleep mode.
2) Conditions - both times occured when i had no internet access
connected. It occured when I took my imac to a location where
i dont have the wifi access as usual at my home.
3) Conditions - i did have the trial of Parallels 3.0 installed
but i dont use it nor did i purchase the full version.. i need
to uninstall those components from XP still.
4) I think in both instances Autodesk Inventor 11 was running.
The 2nd time it was, i dont remember the first time this crash happened.
I have installed all the latest service packs of this software on
the system.
5) Windows XP SP2, FAT32 partition, 32 GB on my iMac harddisk.
6) Error - Windows Blue Screen of Death... i caught it only momentarily
as the machine goes into automatic reboot. I did catch USB DRIVER
in the most recent crash.
7) Error - Upon reboot, the machine asks to send the error report
to Micosoft. I cant because I dont have an internet access. It did
say that Windows rebooted due to a serious error and asked to send
the info back to MS.
8) Error - i was able to screen shot a bit of the error report
but i cant attach a jpeg of the window to this post unfortunately.
Any insight would be appreciated on this.
Edgarokay.. i have recreated this hard crash for a third time:
it is definitely the USB Drivers used... blue screen of death states:
BUGCODE_USB DRIVER
other notes:
i had no other applications running when the system crashed this third time.
