Blue Screen of Death with v.8 upgrade.  Please help!!!

I tried upgrading to itunes v.8, but got blue screen of death. I've tried several times, with the same result. I tried suggestion on here...I went to itunes.exe and changed compatability to XP, but when I click it, it says there is a problem that needs to be repaired in Programs & Features...when I go to Programs & Features, itunes isn't even listed. Please help, we have 3 ipod devices that we can't update now.

UPDATE: I have found and installed v.7.7...seemed to install OK. Wouldn't run though. Went into Programs & Features and did repair...said it was successful, but still won't run. I am SO stuck!

Spent two hours with Apple people and Dell people this morning and nothing. I have updated drivers, flashed my bios, uninstalled and then reinstalled the latest version of Itunes.

what numerical and text codes are you getting with it? (ie 0x[zeros/letters/numbers] CAPSANDUNDERSCORES)
if the blue screen mentions a specific file, let us know what that is called too. (exact spelling, please.)

if you're just seeing a flash of a blue screen, we can use this technique to make hidden blue screens appear for us:
    1) Open your system control panel (Start->Control Panels->System).
    2) Select the "Advanced" tab.
    3) Click the "Startup and Recover" section's "Settings" button
    4) Verify that under "System Failure" the "Automatically restart" checkbox is not checked.

Windows 7 really is version 6.1 (Vista was 6.0).
Same as Windows XP was version 5.1 (Windows 2000 was 5.0).

My iMac is not starting up.  It just get the blue screen of death during startup.  It is a 2.66 mghz duo with 2gb 800 ram.  I was able to get the Hardware test to run and got an error of 4M0T/2/40000004: HDD-1560.  I am assuming it is an error with the internal hard drive since I have nothing else hooked up to the mac other than the keyboard and mouse right now.  Does this code mean my hard drive is completely shot?  Any help would be appreciated.

  • Blue Screen of Death with XP and E1000

I am getting the blue screen of death on my Thinkpad running XP and wireless G with E1000 router.  I have narrowed it down to issues with my wireless connection, but am wondering if I setup the router incorrectly.  Any suggestions?

My XP ThinkPad didn't quite get to that blue-screen point, but it was no fun. The driver update mentioned previously is important (I updated both wired and wireless drivers at the same time) as is fully updating/patching XP.
Access Connections was causing me more trouble than it was worth, so I uninstalled that.
I think those were the three crucial steps (on the computer side anyway) that finally got things working.

  • Blue Screen of Death with Nano 2nd gen

We just got a 2nd gen Nano 8GB for xmas and everytime we connect it to our PC it gives the Blue Screen of Death and then reboots. The codes it gives with the BSOD are as follows:
    Stop: 0x00000050 (0xfffffff0, 0x00000000, 0x8044e86f, 0x00000000)

Operating system is Win2k and it does this regardless of iTunes being installed on the computer or not. I have another older PC running Win2k Server and the iPod is recognized on that PC but iTunes won't load on that PC for some reason (I'm thinking it's not compatible with Win2k server?) I'm not sure if the PC that gives the BSOD has USB2.0 on it if that matters. My other MP3 player (ZenMicro Photo) works fine on the same USB port I'm using to plug the iPod into.
    Any help is appreciated

If the iPod is working on your gf's laptop then it's not (likely) the iPod. That blue screen you are getting is a Windows issue. Do you have warranty support still active on your computer? My mom recently had the dreaded blue screen and Dell was able to send her a packet of disks (Windows XP and other discs) that were needed to get things back straight. It did not make her loose any data either so she didn't have to do a full restore on the system.

  • A Blue Screen of Death With My 3rd. GEN Pods

I hope someone has the patience to help
me out with a Pod-related question; your assistance would be immeasurable.
    In 2003 I purchased both a 30-GIG and a 20-GIG i-Pod,
both of course with the functions located just below the
screen, not on the scroll wheel (I think both models
    are 3rd Gen. Pods).
    In 2005 I bought a 60-GIG i-Pod with photo and have
since relegated the 20 and 30-GIG models to
    non-use.
At this current juncture, though, I am within 20 or so
songs of having filled up my 60-GIG with songs and,
rather than spend more $$ n the new 80-GIG model (I
have an external hard drive that has stored more than
90% of my tunes), I would like to restore either the
20-or 30-GIG models and place new songs on it/them.
The problem: After taking the 20-GIG out of mothballs
and fully charging it at a i-Pod dock connected to a portable speaker system last weekend (Altec Lansing), I then placed it on the dock connected to my computer. After almost a minute, my screen turned blue and a statement appeared: Your computer is being shut down to prevent serious damage to your system, or something to that effect.
Being the trooper, I restarted my computer and then proceeded to try my fortunes with the 30-GIG
(same process for charging as mentioned above), and
once more, upon its being placed on the computer dock,
I got the same "blue screen of death" and same
    warning.
In both cases, I had to restart my computer and to of
course, remove the Pods from the dock.
The blue screen contained this information:
"Page fault-in; nonpaged area; .0x00000050 ntfs.sys. If problem continues, disable/remove any newly installed hardware/ software."
Does anyone know why my computer is resistant to the
earlier model Pods but not to either an i-Pod MIni
that I got from a friend over this summer or to my
60-GIGer? It is the same computer I used to load the
songs that currently exist on these two early models
(Windows XP has replaced Windows 2000, if that means
anything). The computer is a Compaq Presario.
Again, my sincere thanks for taking the time to read
    and reply.
    Greg

Have you tried to connect your iPod with other computer? Does it has the same problem?
] Windows users having trouble with their iPods should locate a Mac user. In many cases when an iPod won't show up on a PC that it will show up on the Mac. Then it can be restored. When the PC user returns to his computer the iPod will be recognized by the PC, reformatted for the PC, and usable again. By the way, it works in reverse too. A Mac user often can get his iPod back by connecting it to a PC and restoring it.
    Tips
    a. It does not matter whether the format is completed or not, the key is to erase (or partly) the corrupted firmware files on the Hard Drive of the iPod. After that, when the iPod re-connected with a computer, it will be recognized as an fresh external hard drive, it will show up on the iTunes 7.
    b. It is not a difficult issue for a Mac user to find a window base computer, for a PC user, if they can’t find any Mac user, they can go to a nearest Apple Shop for a favor.
    c. You may need to switch around the PC and Mac, try to do several attempts between “Format” and “Restore”

  • BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH (the wondows one)seriusly need help.

okay, well the storry goes like this, i'm on my way home on a subway, when all of a sudden my ipod gets VERY laggy, then just freezes, i try everything i can for a while, but it refuses to do anything. I get home, plug it into my pc, it says the ipod had been ****** up, it needs to be restored, i say "deal" it gets restored......and nothing happens...
i unplug the ipod, plug it back in, it says it needs to be restored again ...follow the procedure, now a bit confused.
Then (as the website says " third time's the charm") i connect my ipod, i get the icon in bottom right of my pc showing that there is something connected, and supposedly it's an ipod, however nothing shows up at my computer, or itunes.
then give it a minute or two, my computer flashes with the windows infamous blue screen of death waits a second, and restarts.
is there a way to solve this ? , i can't even SEE my ipod ...
      Windows XP Pro

ough, i've tried resetting it, but that did nothing
...(the menu and center key) and the blue screen of
death only happens when ipod is connected, my pc runs
fine and stabel without the ipod...
is there a way to reformat the ipod without
connecting it to a pc ?
may be i could connect to macs at school and format
    it there ?
Well, if you really want to reformat your iPod Hard Drive, I don't know if there's a way to do it without hooking it up to a computer.
Nevertheless, you can always try these steps on your PC. If this still doesn't work, try your friends' PC but make sure no iTunes software is installed... In your PC's case do these:
    1. uninstall iTunes (it then asks to restart PC)
    2. after restarting plug in your iPod to a usb port
    3. after windows recognizes the iPod, open My Computer
    4. look for the drive letter that refers to your iPod
    5. right click on it and click reformat
    6. once formatting is done right click on that drive letter again and click eject.
    7. wait for the "do not disconnect" warning on your iPod to disappear then remove usb connection
You can then restore or update the iPod software by reinstalling and using iTunes.
I personally haven't reformatted my iPod yet but I did try doing steps 1 - 5 without actually clicking "format" in my other PC. Just give it a run and hope it will work. Good luck.

  • Blue screen of death......Help Please

The beginning of this month I built me a new gaming rig and installed Win 7 HP. Everything was running fine until the 18th. I was simply browsing the internet and all of a sudden my computer froze for a second then went to the BSOD. I saw at the bottom it
was doing a "memory dump." It did this 3 times the same day when I was just browsing the internet. Got upset, looked around online and saw where people said it could be caused because of software not updated. So I updated what needed to be and went
on with my day. Well it happened again early this morning. So I decided to look in my event viewer and find out if i could find out what the problem is. I found an error:
The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck.  The bugcheck was: 0x0000003b (0x00000000c0000005, 0xfffff880113022ec, 0xfffff88008266950, 0x0000000000000000). A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 072414-16614-01.
So I decided to call Microsoft and their solution to the problem was "Reinstall Windows! Reinstall Windows!" WHAT!? REINSTALL WINDOWS! It will take me 2 DAYS to get my computer back to the way I want it with all my programs, movies, music. I know
there is another solution to this problem. I want to know the cause of the BSOD! So I was reading around and saw where people were saying upload the memory dump file to Skydrive and someone will look in it to find a problem. Well I uploaded the .dmp file to
my Onedrive and I hope and pray someone can read it and help.( https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=E4B0911EE97A02C1!107&authkey=!AAR8h7CfZxBp7aw&ithint=file%2cdmp ) I first thought it was a RAM problem since it said it was doing a "memory"
    dump.
    Please help.
    Thank you!

    Hi,
The attached DMP file is of the SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION (3b)

This indicates that an exception happened while executing a routine that transitions from non-privileged code to privileged code.
This error has been linked to excessive paged pool usage and may occur due to user-mode graphics drivers crossing over and passing bad data to the kernel code.

Corsair Link, terribly buggy software with dated device drivers. Uninstall it ASAP! If you're using it to control fans, there are plenty of alternative (and arguably better) 3rd party tools such as SpeedFan.

  • Blue screen whenever I try to play games - please help

    Hi,
My computer runs perfectly when I do tasks such as using the net, typing letters etc, but as soon as I run a game it stops working....
I start the game up, it runs through the intro movies, and then it shows a blank blue screen with the sound "repeating"in the background - the only way of getting out of this is to turn off & restart my computer from the switch.  It does this with all of my games, so I know it's not a issue with a particular game.  It seems to do this when it would normally engage the 3D effects part of the processor.
Since this problem has started I have re-built the machine (formatted), installed a fresh copy of windows, downloaded the latest drivers and yet it still will not play games.  I have also rolled back to previous versions of the drivers in case it was an issue with the new version of the drivers, and still no change.
I do suspect that it is a driver problem though, because once the computer has restarted after the error and windows says it has recovered from a serious error, the error report says that a driver caused the problem (it doesn't say which driver, and it isn't much more helpful than that).  Sometimes the blue screen says something about "driver edirol not equal" or something like that, but usually it is blank.
If anybody can help me solve this I'll be extremely grateful, because I am completely out of ideas.
    My system details are below:
    Motherboard - MSI 845E MAX
Graphics card - Saphire Radeon 9800 Pro
    Processor - Intel Pentium 4 2.4
Sound - Soundblaster Audigy platinum, and Delta 44
    Running - Windows XP professional
I have tried to run the following games - C&C Generals, Black and White, Spellforce, Planetside and Soldior of Fortune 2.
    Thanks,

  • Gray screen of death.... Please help.

Wife's 27" iMac is giving us the gray screen of death. I tried everything I could:
    Command + Option +P + R
Holding Option at boot to try Recovery
    Command + Option + R (Internet Recovery)
Holding shift to get to Safe Mode
Inserting install disc while holding "C"
Installed Mountain Lion on my Flashdrive to try to boot from that….
ALL FAILED. Any ideas, guys? Please help. This Mac is just a little over a year old. just out of the one year warranty.

Thanks for telling us everything you did. However, you haven't given us any information on what the computer did. So there's not much to go on except a gray screen. Assuming the drive has not failed:
Install or Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Erase the hard drive:
      1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
      2. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the
left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
      3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on
the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass. Click on
the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
      4. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.
If you are not able to perform the above then the drive has most likely failed and will have to be replaced. Take the computer in for service..

  • Blue screen of death with LV7.0 Eval version

I had been programming for a couple weeks with no problems, trying to see whether or not Labview could handle the data acquisition requirements that we need for our software. Specifically, I was a little concerned that LV maybe be too "high level" to run fast enough for us. We're acquiring 2 analog voltage signals and an edge counter for X, Y and Z position values and streaming them into an intensity graph to get a picture of our scanned object. I had been using the DAQ Assistant VI to do the acquisition, which understably contains quite a bit of overhead, but the acquisition rate seemed to be okay (around 400Hz while streaming points into a 200x200 array on a DAQCard-6036E). I wasn't quite done the interpolation routine though and was afraid that would slow it down some more.
On Monday I got my first BSOD just a couple seconds after starting my program after using the software for hours. I brushed it off as a fluke and rebooted. Yesterday late in the afternoon I got another one after working on it and testing all day, but this time it never dumped the physical memory (it just hung). Much more concerning, I got a third one today upon just loading up Labview and trying to run my program for the first time. I took down the error message as:
    IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL
    STOP:0X000000A(0X6D665346,0X0000002,0X0000001,0X80519E8C)
I rebooted, and upon trying to load windows, I got a message that SYSTEM was corrupt. Our IT guy came by and rebooted again, which seemed to work alright. But then when he rebooted again we got -another- one with no "IRQL" statement. I did manage to get it going again by rebooting for a 3rd time.
What worries me is that this is getting progressively worse. For weeks I seemed to be able to tinker at will with the software and do all sorts of neat stuff and it didn't give me any errors. I haven't installed anything new this week at all, and suddenly it's crapping out faster and faster.
I'm using (or was, until I uninstalled everything for safety) LV Eval version installed on NI-DAQ 7.0 with a Toshiba TE2100 laptop (P4, 2GHz, 256meg). Are there any known issues with version 7.0? I had tried installing the Eval version (I guess it's really called "Express") on NI-DAQ 7.2, but the DAQ Assistant never showed up in the menu. After a few calls to NI tech support, I tried version 7.3 and it still wasn't there (and if you're new at LV, you NEED the DAQ Assistant), so I tried 7.0 and it worked fine.
I've attached my program. It's disorganized, yes, but it does the job. Any ideas?

    Hi Tyler,
I'm using WinXP Pro, and I haven't tried the program on another computer yet. The tricky thing is that it's one of those intermittent problems. So I could install it on someone else's computer and have it run fine for weeks, then crash on the last day. The BSOD did not identify any particular problem file, only the IRQ error and that it was dumping physical memory. I know they sometimes give you the exact file that the problem occurred in, but not in my case.
I did a fair amount of searching through this forum and in general regarding Labview and conflicts with other software. I found one message from a couple years ago on another forum regarding BSOD's, and one reply asked "You're not using Sophos virus checker, are you?". Coincidentally, this is the only thing that had been installed on my computer since installing Labview. However, it was installed about 2 weeks prior to the first BSOD. Something I forgot to mention was that my laptop was taking suspiciously long to boot up. I could type in my name and password and come back 5 minutes later and it would still be loading my desktop. It wasn't until I physically removed the DAQ card and then rebooted that I saw it return to normal. I then uninstalled all NI software and reinstalled everthing, this time going with the 7.3.1 drivers. On Friday I also disabled Sophos virus checker for one day. So far it's run error-free today (even with Sophos re-enabled), and my computer booted up normal speed even with the DAQ left in it over the weekend. However, for the first time, Labview crashed on me today (performed illegal operation... do you want to send error report to microsoft etc...).
I sure hope the problems I'm having aren't indicative of the normal operation of the software. It's been amazing to program with so far, and its unbelievably powerful, but if BSOD's and mysterious crashes are the norm, it's going to be worse than our current software (which in itself isn't very good).

  • Appletemp.sys + BSOD (blue screen of death) with Skype 4.1 using Bootcamp

    Hi There,
I am using Skype on my Macbook Aluminum running Vista Business. Every time I run Skype I get a BSOD which is incredibly frustrating, especially if during calls. It doesn't happen straight away but after a few minutes. The error message on the BSOD is appletemp.sys.
Anyone else experience this/ know a workaround? I am considering trying older versions of Skype to see if they are more compatible.
After getting the audio working well this is the hopefully last problem I will be experiencing running what is really an awesome combo.
    Cheers,

Me too, exactly same issue, tried updating skype, the sound card drivers, video card drivers and no help, now I dont use skype in windows anymore which I hate because the windows version is a lot better.
I also have a problem with msn messenger on video calls, I have everything working fine and suddenly the microphone volume goes to 0 by itself and I have to restart the application to get it working again.
I hoping apple can fix this when the new bootcamp is released, whenever this is.
