Blue screen on snow leopard

I have Blue Screen on my OS X Snow Leopard  ...Please help  !!

Sounds like it's stopping before showing the desktop. Things to try.
1) Restart and immediately hold down the Command+Option+P+R keys. Keep holding them through two or three startup chimes. Let go of the keys and let the Mac start normally.
2) Restart and immediately hold down the Shift key to boot into Safe Mode. If it works, a progress bar will appear towards the bottom center of the screen. You can let go of the key. Once at the desktop, restart again normally.

how to record the screen in snow leopard ?

Must I find it myself !
Well you could try Google :-)
I am unsure if you want a static image, or a movie recording of what you are doing on your screen.
Images can be done using Command-Shift-3, Command-Shift-4, and Command-Shift-4-Space.
3rd party utilities such as Skitch will allow you to annotate the image after you capture it.
Making a movie of your screen activities can be done usng Applications -> Quicktime
There are 3rd party screen records such as Snapz Pro, ScreenSteps, etc...
And of course you can do a Google search.

  • Does anyone else see a blue screen just before leopard loads up?

Hi just wondering Does anyone else see a blue screen just before leopard loads up? It when i start my cpu after the apple logo and spinning wheel, then it goes to a blank blue screen for a second, then the desktop. Just wondering if that was normal. Thanks

Yes, it is normal for a Mac to have a blue screen during start-up.
You may also see it change colors from blue to gray.

  • Blue screen only after leopard install. HELP!!!!

Here is what I did. I installed Leopard on my MacBook Pro and it booted perfectly. I did the upgrade option so I wouldn't lose my editing and graphics software. I decided to upgrade my Dual 867 MDD, which has a Sonnettech 1.67 processor for mirrored drive door macs. This is where the **** has come in. For the first attempt, I installed the upgrade on the system drive with was only an 80gig drive with 14 gigs left. After I came back in from letting the install go overnight, my computer monitor only showed a blue screen and the mouse arrow. i can move the mouse arrow around which is a good sign. I got frustrated and then took out the 80 gig system drive and replaced it with a carbon copy backup drive of 10.4.11. This replacement drive is a 120gig 7200 rpm PATA drive. I then installed Leopard on that drive, got the success checkmark at the end and rebooted. Again, the blue screen came back with a functional arrow. My only guess is that the low end ATI card (the original that came with the Dual 867's) is somehow flipped or reversed, preventing me from accessing the dock and system functions. I don't know of a keystroke that will flip them. Why would the mouse be functional and nothing else? The card has a HDMI port, albeit one of the older ones that is rounded and not square. At this point, I"m stuck on blue screen with roving mouse.I also could not get the install CD to eject, even when holding the eject key during the restart. I finally got it out. After a third reboot, I got the dreaded error message of death stating to restart. Any suggestions?

where can i get migration assistant? will carbon copy not do? my situation is worse now. i don't know why i forgot to go with archive and install and chose upgrade. life is **** for my g4 now. the new situation is that if i choose archive and install or the clean install option, there is an error message at the end saying the install failed and that there is an error with the disc. I have also seen an error message saying the install failed due to not finding the oxford dictionary something. on top of that, i can't reboot into OS9 because leopord alters or deletes an important extension that the sonnettech processor needs. they sent me the new file and once i overcome these failed install issues i can add that new file. oh well. wonder how vista installs are going?

  • Gray screen troubleshooting snow leopard disk eject

My Mac Pro starts up to a gray screen.  I've gone through the steps to troubleshoot it and am currently at the level of trying to start the computer from the Snow Leopard installation disk.  The computer ejects the disk during the boot process and nothing seems to change.  I can only start the computer in Safe Mode.  What can I do next?

I also have a Late 2006 Intel Core 2 Duo MacBook.  Technically a MacBook 2,1 with Boot ROM MB21.00A5.B07. My keyboard has "alt" printed at the top of the "option" key.
I had no problems installing Snow Leopard by booting from the DVD (clean install). This is what Disc Burning states in System Profiler with no disc inserted. You omitted the first line with the model number so might have a different drive model.

  • Screen Sharing - Snow Leopard to Lion

Does anyone know if you can use a Snow Leopard Machine to view the screen (Screen Sharing) of a Lion Machine?  By utilizing Screen Sharing could I manipulate the a Lion Machine from a Snow Leopard Machine?
    Thanks.

Doesn't work here. The "Contacting <hostname>..." dialog just sits there spinning its barber pole until I cancel (I let it try for a few minutes).
It definitely works the other way; my computer can control my husband's MacBook that's still running Snow Leopard.
I tried to update his MacBook this morinng and got a message that he doesn't have enough memory.  Whoops!  Had to order some tonight!

  • Parallels 4 black screen with Snow Leopard 10.6.1

I upgraded to Snow Leopard and to 10.6.1 I already had Parallels 4 build 3846 and now when I start the VM the screen stays black and nothing stats. Any suggestions what to do? I appreciate your help!

    Howdy,
That's not a bug or anything wrong with your system. Primatte's algorithm (not just in Motion, but in most Primatte implementations) has interdependent parameters, so the jitteriness is those sliders struggling against one another. i.e. the spill suppression limits the matte density, and so on.

  • White Screen After Snow Leopard Install

I just installed Snow Leopard on a late 2007 MacBook. Verified the disk before and got all updates after. Now, whenever the machine goes to sleep, it wakes up frozen. Restarting produces a plain white screen. If left, it will eventually show a folder with a question mark, like it can't find the startup disk. It needs to be restarted several times before booting up again. The startup disk has been selected in System Prefs more than once.
I've found several references to this being an old problem, but I have not found a solution. Has this problem been solved?

I suggest that you run the Apple Hardware Test in extended mode to see if it finds anything wrong with the hardware.
Thanks, I'll try that. But I doubt this is a hardware issue. I'm pretty sure this is a Snow Leopard issue, since many others have had this same problem after upgrading.

  • View full screen in snow leopard with Keynote?

How can I view my Keynote slides in full screen view with Snow Leopard??? Thank you!

While we all have MacBooks in this forum not all of us use Keynote. There's a Keynote Support Community where everybody uses Keynote. You should also post this question there to increase your chances of getting an answer.

  • Screen Share Snow Leopard No longer works

    Please help!!
I used to have no problem sharing screens from my Mac Pro running 10.6.6 with my Mac Pro Book running 10.6.8.  When I upgraded my tower to 10.6.8 screen sharing ceased to work as did internet sharing over the eathernet port.  I am able to log in and grab files but not share screen or internet.  WHAT DO I DO?  This is a big problem for my work flow.

I don't know the answer to this sepcific problem, but often these are caused by changes in preference file formats.
Tearing down the authorization for Internet Sharing and/or Screen Sharing and setting it up again may change something that makes it work again.

  • Split screen in Snow Leopard?

Is there a way to split the screen and run a different program or website on each side and then cursor between the two while viewing both simultaneously? Thanks.

But why do you need to split the screen? Just resize the windows - generally by dragging the bottom right corner.
In answer to your question, I don't think theres a function built in. But for what you want to do, it shouldn't be necessary.

  • Mac stuck at startup screen after snow leopard install went bad

I have an iMac running on 10.4. I have all the requirements to install 10.6.
i bought the $30 cd to install it, put in the cd and chose install. It went to screen with the black/purple space background and a window that had me choose where to install it to. I think I booted from the install CD.
Chose english, it prepared installation, clicked continue on the install mac os x window. Then i had to choose where to install it. There was only one option (the hard disk) but when i clicked on it, it said i couldn't install it. So I clicked back but I couldn't quit the installation.
When I restarted the computer, it just kept going to the installation and I kept ending up in a dead end. So, I browsed for my available options to restart my computer running on my old OS. I clicked utilities > startup disk > then clicked the hard disk. I thought this would just restart the iMac normally.
The computer restarted, but now its stuck on the start up screen. I turn it on, stays on the apple logo, then it shuts itself off within 2-5 minutes.
Am I screwed? Did I lose all my files that were on the computer? I know I'm an idiot for not backing up all my files on an external hard drive.
How do I get out of this and just use my computer?

Which specific model of iMac do you have? If the installer refused to install, then there must be a reason, such as lack of hard disk space, RAM, etc.
Did you eject the DVD, or is it still in the optical drive? If it's still in the drive, you should try booting from it by turning on the iMac and holding down the 'C' key until you see the spinning radian and see if it will boot from the DVD.
Post back with more info and results.

  • I purchased an unclaimed luggage at the airport that had a mid 2010 13" MB-Pro -- It comes up to a boot screen with snow leopard or Windows -- I tried to boot from Optical with Lion install -- it woon't won't boot from the optical drive, help

It won't go to taget disk mode -- I took the drive out and used disk utility to re-partition and format - now I get the folder with a question mark and it still won't boot from optical or usb or go to target disk mode -- I haven't tried installing lion on the disk while it is out and then putting it back in the machine --
according to the serial number, it is still under apple care but since I don't know the person that used to own it I can't get it transferred to me -- or will apple do that since I bought it in an auction?

Ok so I've done what you said and this is what it's come back ....
I don't know that these are the errors , but they're the things which don't look right ...
    Throughout the shut down there is a recurring line ;
    It says ;
    Com.apple.launchd 1 0x100600e70.anonymous.unmount 301 PID still valid
    Then there are 2 more which I think are related ;
Com.apple.securityd 29 PID job has I overstayed its welcome , forcing removal.
Then the same with fseventd 48 and diskarbitrationd 13
Oh and on Launchd1 : System : stray anonymous job at shut down : PID 301 PPID13 PGID 13 unmount...
Then the last process says "about to call: reboot (RB_AUTOBOOT).
    Continuing...
    And stops ...
Hope this means something to you ... Thanks again for your help so far :-)

  • PLease Help!! Leopard and Blue Screen

I know there is a lot of discussion out there about a blue screen after installing Leopard. Well I had leopard installed and working for a while and then one day i started having issued where iTunes would lock up my MacBook and I would have to restart the MacBook because i could not stop it from "determining gap less playback" It would do it every time i plugged in my iPhone or my iPod. So everything was working great other than the iTunes issue. Then one night while my wife was using the MacBook it turned off on her so she proceeded to turn it back on only to have it boot up to a blue screen. Keep in mind we had been running Leopard for a few months this was not a brand new install. I purchased my MacBook used from a fried who did not provide me with the CD/DVD's to restore the MacBook since he lost them in his move. So I have searched far and wide trying to resolve this issue. I have booted into Single user mode and did the command prompt options...
    1. Reboot into single-user mode (hold Cmd-S while booting machine)
    2. Follow the directions OSX gives you when you get to the prompt (I think these were them - just type the two commands it tells you to):
    fsck -fy /
    /sbin/mount -uw /
    3. Remove the following files:
    rm -rf /Library/Preference Panes/Application Enhancer.prefpane
    rm -rf /Library/Frameworks/Application Enhancer.framework
    rm -rf /System/Library/SystemConfiguration/Application Enhancer.bundle
    rm -rf /Library/Preferences/com.unsanity.ape.plist
    4. Exit, to continue booting normally
    exit
    restart
I have tried to boot the MacBook in safe mode with no luck. I think i have done everything i can. I called Apple support and was told that the MacBook is out of warranty by 408 days. Can i buy the restore CD/DVD? Is there something that I am missing? What am I not doing? Please help me???

Does the Blue Screen happen after the Gray screen with the Apple logo and the spinning gear below it or when you turn on the computer you see the blue screen right away? You can try resetting the PRAM. Turn on the computer while holding the CommandOption+PR. These buttons will reboot your computer manually so let go after you saw the computer restart by itself. You also mentioned that you installed Leopard on your computer. So do you still have the Leopard install disk with you? If you do, boot from that disk. With the Leopard disk inside your optical drive, press the C key while turning it on. Once booted, try do repair the disk permissions and disk in Disk Utility.
    Hope this helps.
