Blue Screen when connecting iPod Touch -

Hello,
unfortunately I have no points to reward an answer.
Still, I get my chance to get one from a friendly and understanding person.
The iPod Touch is a "September edition" with firmware 1.1.4 (4A102) lately updated.
Whenever I connect he iPod, my PC immediately crashes with a bluescreen.
I didn't have such problem with previous firmware. I guess I could come back to 1.1.3 and wait for 1.1.5. However, I would rather do it only if there is no other solution.

Well, try to follow the instructions above written:
Go to the computer's properties (Right-click on "My Computer");
Click the “Hardware” tab and then hit “Device Manager”. A new pop-up window will appear;
Click the plus sign next to “Universal Bus Controllers” to enlarge their list;
Right click on any items that identified as “Usb Host Controller” or “Usb Universal Host Controller”;
Then lick “Update Ddriver”, and configure it to do “this time only” and then hit next button;
Select “Install the Software Automatically”
It will automatically search and install updated drivers. This should work, the problem comes from your PC and not from your iPod.

    I tried to connect my new iPod classic for the first time and continually get the blue screen of death. I had been using a Nano (2nd gen, not the video one) on this PC without problems, but now when I try to connect the Nano I also get the blue screen. The blue screen references ousbehci.sys for either iPod and says DRIVERIRQL_NOT_LESS_OREQUAL with the Nano only.

    I have been working on my little step brothers ipod all day and night trying to fix this problem.     "Okay, here was my problem….sounds similar to yours but whenever I plugged in my new iPod Classic I got the “blue screen” of death and it shut my computer down. After spending over an hour on the phone with Apple support we were able to resolve the issue.
    Right click on “my computer” and select “properties”
    Click the “hardware” tab and then select “device manager”
    Click the + sign next to “universal bus controllers”
    Right click on any items that identified as “usb host controller” or “usb universal host controller”
    Click “update driver”, select “yes, this time only” and the next button
    Select “install the software automatically” and the next button
    It will automatically search and install updated drivers
    If you have more than one item on your “device manager” that says “universal bus controllers”; follow the same steps above on all items. I had two “universal bus controllers” on my “device manager” because I had installed an after market USB2 card. After I did the updates it merged them into one.
    My iPod Classic “synced” perfectly after I installed the updates. Hope it works for you!"

    Hello, just recently had Windows XP re-installed on my laptop and just the other day tried to conect my ipod to it and got this ERROR message:
    A problem has been detected and windows has been shut downto prevent damage to your computer.
    if this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. if this screen appears again, follow these steps.
    Check with your hardware vendor for any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. if you need computer to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select advance start up options, and then select safe mode.

    i have tried the following:
    -testing other devices in same USB port = they are fine.
    -erase and reinstall itunes new version

    thank you soo much i had some pics on my ipod that were snap shots from online pics under saved pictures and as soon as i erased them i was able to connect my ipod to my laptop thanks a million for the link!

  • IPod touch 4G causes windows 7 to blue screen when connecting to iTunes

    Wife bought me a new iPod Touch 4G for Christmas. A few days ago it started to cause my Windows 7 (64bit) to blue screen randomly while connected or sometimes when I first connected it.  Did a Windows re-install and crashes Windows each time I connect it. It is not the USB port as other devices work fine through all my USB ports. I do load various apps on the iPod several times a day. And it is also bluetooth'd to my wireless wifi switch (same network as my PC). ITunes program on PC is latest version. Anyone have a clue on this one?

    I am getting the BSOD as soon as i connect an iPod Touch to a Dell PC which has been happily running iTunes with an iPod Classic 80Gb for ages; have installed latest software on Touch and also latest iTunes version, have tried uninstalling USB printers and webcam. iPod Touch connects to a Dell laptop with no problems. Any suggestions to solve this - can't get at my music to update the iPod Touch?

  • Blue screen when connecting my iPod Classic to Windows7

    Hi!
    I know there are lots of these problems round here, but none of them actually seemed to apply to my situation nor did the advices seem to have helped me.
    Here's the thing:
    A few days ago while synching my iPod Classic with iTunes, it just crashed. I mean it stopped syncing but wouldn't eject. I got angry and just unplugged my iPod (I'm an idiot, I know) . After that, I tried to synch it again but i would just plug it in, click 'sync' and nothing would happen . For less than a second it would sync but nothing would actually happen. I decided to reboot my iPod. That's where real trouble started. After clicking "Reboot..." my laptop just crashed and blue screen popped up. Every time i plug my iPod while iTunes is on, the same thing happens - blue screen. I already checked my drivers, they're all updated.
    Here's what it says when the blue screen pops up:

    I'm going to the seaside in a couple of days and I desperately need my iPod.

    This seems to be more of an issue with Windows than with iTunes or the iPod. I would suggest scrubbing it for malicious software or seek out a professional.

  • ITunes freezes when connecting iPod Touch - even after restored

    Hi,
    I have an iPod Touch 32GB 4th generation, I have never had any problems with it until now.
    Today I tried to connect it to my iTunes (on my MacBook Pro - late 2011 model) in order to sync it so that I could transfer some of my new music and iTunes would freeze. The mouse would pinwheel and I would have to force quit (it would not respond for over 30mins if left unattended). I created a new admin user and the itunes on the other user recognised the iPod just fine. I used the other user to restore my iPod in the hopes that when connected to my library again, it would be a 'new' ipod and so it would no longer freeze. Unfortunately this was not the case, despite my library recognising an ipod in recovery mode and being able to restore it (so that I can now at least use it in its most basic form). It has subsequently frozen each time I connect my iPod. How can I fix this? Should I just wait for the next iTunes upgrade?

    Expand All Sections | Collapse All Sections
    Follow the steps below to troubleshoot the issue:
    Install any available software updates for your computer.
    For Mac OS X: Click the Apple () menu, choose Software Update, and follow the on-screen instructions.
    For Windows: Refer to the documentation for your computer for instructions on using Windows Update to update your computer.
    Update iTunes to the latest version.
    For Mac OS X: Click the Apple () menu, choose Software Update, and follow the on-screen instructions. You can also download iTunes from the Apple website.
    For Windows: Use Apple Software Update, or download iTunes from the Apple website.
    Test with automatic syncing disabled.Reconnect your device and test to see if the issue still occurs.     I have this problem: blue screen appear in Win XP randomly when i try to connect to internet using a Genius modem. The error notification is this:

    First i suspected a memory issue, so i tested it with Memtest 86 but didn't find any errors. I run 3DMark 2001 several times with no errors, 3D games runs also without problems. I put the modem in 3rd PCI slot, the 4th is occupied by the network adapter and the 5th slot by the SB Audigy (with the newest drivers installed from Creative web site). There is an IRQ sharing between the network adapter and an USB host controller used for a Logitech Steering Wheel. CPU temp never exceed 50C, Dinamic Overclock is disabled and Performance is set to slow.BIOS is 1.3. Since i have this motherboard, (six days) i have this very annoyng problem 1 of 4 times i connect to the internet.
    Please, if you do have any suggestions i need some help.

    I researched this a bit, with my very similar error.
    I can tell you this much with certainty--that blue screen is a driver problem. Maybe in your case Norton FW is bringing it out, but it is probably a conexant chipset in your modem, and you are getting the same end result as me.
    They haven't released, at least that I can find, a driver for this modem chip set that correctly handles irq sharing. Conexant is what's inside of a suprising number of modems, and the software (base driver from them to the modem OEM) is old.
    Pretty sure Danny's on the right track with hyperthreading being the problem. The other possibility is the whole complicated HAL/APIC deal. Toss in some other HAL acronyms.
    But hyperthreading is a more recent development, so I will give it a shot, soon. Don't feel like crashing at the moment. But if that is the answer, I'm not going to turn off HT. Nope, the modem will be stuck with the generic 56k MS driver, which works ok, sorta, just doesn't report speeds right, or do compression and error handling right. Or 56K for that matter. OK, it's a bonejob, but I need HT more than a dial-up.
    Unless somebody has some ideas.
    One day I will take out my collection of really crappy modems and shoot them. Do a web page. I now have 5.
    Don't buy Bestdata. 2 year old driver and they want money to talk to tech support. Brand new. Says XP PRO on the box.

    No it does not. I have read about that, but sadly this is not the case for me. The only thing "extra" I had connect was a printer, but I never installed the drivers for it and unplugged it after I read about unplugging other USB devices.

    If your computer is  a 2011, you can stop the blue screen by turning off graphic card switching.  Under apple, system preferences, energy, uncheck box.  Temporary fix.  Your logic board may need to be replaced if you are under warranty or have apple care otherwise $1000.00.  May be software or firmware problem but apple has provided no info.  Replacing logic board has corrected problem for some users and not others.  Everything I've mentioned only applies to 2011 MBPs.

    I have an iPod touch 2nd generation, and I decided to reset it as it was having problems, and now it displays the connect to iTunes message like when I first purchased it. I connected it to iTunes like it wanted, but when I connect the iPod to iTunes, iTunes displays the following error message "iTunes could not connect to the iPod "iPod touch" because an unknown error occurred (0xE000001)". I am not an uninformed person on these matters and have tried everything I can think of i.e. updating iTunes, using a different dock connector etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

    This is most likely a USB connection issue.
    Make sure the iPhone is directly connected to a high-speed USB2 port on the computer, using the cable that came with it.

    Just recently i've started getting an alert from the Sophos anti-virus software i'm running. It only happens when I connect my iPod touch to the mac, and as far as i can see it's coming from the mobilesync backup. Any ideas if i should worry about this and if there's a fix?

    I would try:
    Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
    or
    Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7

    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
    How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
