Blue screen (Yes Apples posted fixes don't work for me)

I am tired tired... I can't get rid of the blue screen delay at startup in 10.5.2 or 10.5.3. I've tried the fixes. No go... I even tried wiping a drive and doing a Clean Leopard install. After adding the .5.3 update the long delay returns.
My delay is about 4 very long blue minutes. ( After a long gray screen with spinning gear. )
Could there be a hardware issue related to firewire brought out by the .5.2 & .5.3 updates?
I traced the 4 min. delay in my console log. see below.

Panther boots like lightning... Leopard 10.5 is slower but livable. The issue shows up after I do the .5.3 update... even on a clean install.

I was almost certain (from the logs) that there had to be a device incompatibility!
One suggestion: if this was compatible in 10.5.2 - make sure that you post feedback directly to Apple at http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html/
Include the clipping from the log files - and the fact that you have resolved the problem by removing the device. Presumably the problem recurs if you plug the device back in?

Need escalated help on this one. Have numerous tabs (in the 100's), and this morning I tried all of the posted fixes to restore previous session (to yesterday would be just fine), but NONE of them work. Was able to get into Profile to the SQLite db, and all data is still intact.
Where do I go from here? This is a must-do mission re: restore tabs from yesterday's session.

  • For the blue screen at Leopard install, this tech report works for me

    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306857
I used the second "solution" and my system booted properly after typing in the command lines mentioned in the article.
    Good luck

Restart your computer with the original install disk in the drive. Hold down on the "d" key. This will startup the computer into the Apple Hardware Test. If you can't enter the Apple Hardware Test, you have some kind of hardware failure (with the logic board or maybe with the optical drive). You should call AppleCare Support to set-up a repair. If you can get the AHT to run, go through the extended tests and see if you get an error message. If you do, again, you should call AppleCare Support and get a repair scheduled. Let them know the exact error code you saw with the AHT. If you can run the AHT and no error appears, this does not completely rule-out a hardware failure, only a failure that the utility is looking for. Let us know what you find out.

Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
    1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.  Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files.  After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.

  • Can you do Green Screen/Blue Screen/Chroma Key on Adobe Premiere Elements 12 for mac?

Can you do Green Screen/Blue Screen/Chroma Key on Adobe Premiere Elements 12 for mac?  If not, what are the alternatives?

    JimbobT
ChromaKey, GreenScreen Key, and BlueScreen Key are not included in Premiere Elements Mac.
Some suggest Videomerge as the alternative. I do not. But Videomerge is not THE alternative.
Instead, I prefer the Difference Matte as a substitute for the 3 absent keying effects. Please check out my blog post on that which includes
    the how to.

The suggestion has met with good results according to the feedback that I have gotten to this.
I am strictly a Premiere Elements Windows user who does not prefer Videomerge even in Windows.
Please review, consider, and let us know the outcome.
    Thanks.

I can't update my apps even when I do App Store>purchased> select all...... It don't work for me

When you tap on All at the top. That shows all of you purchased apps. You still have to manually go through each letter (on the left side) and look through every page of apps in order to find the apps that need an update. It is a pain and its time consuming, but that's how you have to do it.
Is that what you are doing and it's not working for you?

  • Blue screen following effort to fix Darwin/BSD screen

Our iMac began having issues yesterday and when rebooted it went to a screen that said Darwin/BSD. I followed previous post information (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=320663&start=0&tstart=0) to try and work through the problem. I got to the point where it said that my disk appeared OK and followed the other instructions until it said to type reboot. Now when it reboots it looks like it is going to get to the log in screen however it gets to a blue screen and is stuck. From time to time it will lighten quickly with the little timer circle and then quickly back to the blue screen. ANY HELP??? I am frustrated at this point.

Hi Willeford, and a warm welcome to the forums!
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Tiger Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it finishes.
(If perchance you cant Find your Install Disk, at least do the Safe Boot part above).
The usual reason why updates fail or mess things up, or things don't load/run, is if Permissions are not fixed before & after every update, with a reboot... you may get a partial update when the installer finds it doesn't have Permissions to change one obscure little part of the OS, leaving you with a mix of OS versions.
Some people get away without Repairing Permissions for years, some for only days.
If Permissions are wrong before applying an update, you could get mixed OS versions, if Directory is the slightest messed up, who knows!
If many Permission are repaired, or any Directory errors are found, you may need to re-apply some the latest/biggest updates again, or even do an A&I if you have enough free disk space.

The combo update for Intel-based Macs...
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx10411comboupdateintel.html
Repair Permissions before & after re-install, then reboot again each time.
If all the above fails, then it appears to be time for a relatively painless Archive & Install, which gives you a new/old OS, but can preserve all your files, pics, music, settings, etc., as long as you have plenty of free disk space and no Disk corruption, and is relatively quick & painless...
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120
Just be sure to select Preserve Users & Settings.
I only use Software Update to see what is needed, then get them for real via...
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/
That way I can wait a week or so, check the forums for potential problems, and get Permissions & such in order before installing.

  • Audigy 2 ZS - IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL blue screen (yes another of these threa

    yes the horrid IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error.
I have seen numerous posts about this same problem which appears to occur in more that one specific type of Creative sound card.
I encountered this problem only when I installed my Audigy 2 ZS sound card, nothing else in my machine changed.
Everything was a fresh install as I had just purchased a whole pile of new parts.
The first two times this error occured, I was in game, in these cases, I was in Nascar 2003. All of a sudden the sound would go from normal to a squeel or screech or high pitch sound, it sounded as thought the game sound had speed up lots. and shortly after this I was greeted with the Blue Screen Of Death , I have also noticed this has happened to me more times when changing menus in game ie: going from in the game back to the menus.
I read around and found many people with the same problem, nothing I have found has had a conclusi've answer.
I hope the lads at Creative are working hard on this one
Anyway, Here are my machine specs in the hope the Creative can perhaps sort out the problem, it's all new stuff and it's PCI express:
    Hardware:
    Athlon 64 3200+
    Gigabyte GA-K8NF-9
Two sticks of Giel 52MB DDR400 Ram
    Gigabyte Geforce 6600 GT 'turboforce'
    Audigy2 ZS
two Serial ATA 60 GIG IBM dri'ves
One Seagate 60 GIG baracuda 4
    DVD rom dri've
OCZ Modstream Power Supply 450 Watt.
    Software:
Windows XP with SP2 and all available updates
    AVG antivirus free personal edition
Latest Nforce 4 chipset drivers (6.53)
Latest Audigy 2 ZS drivers (5.2..442)
    Nvidia 66.93 Graphics drivers
I have not managed to get a dump of the blue screen data (I can't find it)
but it was a IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error.
It'd be good to know if Creative are working on correcting this problem or not, and anything you would like us consumers to do to help you solve the problem (as it's obviously quite the nasty one)

    Hi
There is couple of errors with this type of name.
Here is one exact same name as you wrote. This is from W2k errer book, but I think it's
    same with XP.
    Error:
    IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.
    Translation:
This usually means that a hardware device in your computer has failed. The most common
culprit is a faulty memory module on the motherboard, but it can also be the CPU,
motherboard, or dri've controllers. If the message occurs during or after installing new
hardware, one or more device drivers (small programs that let Windows communicate with a
computer?s hardware) may be using an improper memory address.
    Solution:
If the problem is hardware failure, remove all unnecessary hardware devices from your
computer and try restarting your computer with a single memory module, disk controller,
and video card. If the computer boots successfully, install additional hardware, one
device at a time, rebooting after each installation. Continue this process until you
determine which hardware device is defecti've.
If the problem is a new hardware installation, remove the hardware and its device
driver. Contact the manufacturer to ensure that the device is compatible with Win2000.
    Update the driver, if necessary.

  • Re: Blink black screen with - after post "fix"

    - flashing at startup fix (streamline) no restore needed.
Only f2 and f12 work no 0 and no f8
After buying a windows boot cd and trying to fix the mbr though bootrec and windows repair and chkdsk I had no luck what so ever(waste of money). I even tried removing the keyboard thing I key was stuck and removing and testing ram with no luck what so ever. then decided to flash bios well that didnt work. I had no back up desk and refused to lose everything so here is where we begin I decided to download ultimate boot cd for ultimatebootcd.com (its free lots of programs)
    1. Using another computer download and burn the ultimate boot cd.iso file (make sure to use an iso burner and burn and 10x or below as an image and verified data is checked.
    2. Start computer hit f2 to enter bios and change boot order so the cdrom boots first. Press enter to boot from cd and allow program to boot.
    3. In the boot cd menu chose press down till HDD then press enter.
    4. Press down till boot management then chose special fdsk (this command wont work in windows repair at the moment thats why were using the disk.
5.choose partition tools (you might get an error just press enter)
    6. New screen labeled hdd1 or hdd2 depending on hard drive.
    7. Choose partition with the highest gb list (may have a heart beside it or be marked hidden press enter.
8.Red screen options chose to set partition to active and press enter .(follow on screen commands for saveing and restarting.
    9. restart computer remove disk and press f8 and chose windows repair (u have that option now)
try to let the computer repair automatically it may restart a few times.
    10. Now enter command prompt in windows repair and type.
enter the letter of your partition ex <C:> then type
    bootrec /mbr press enter
    bootrec /fixboot press enter
    bootrec /rebuildbcd press enter
Chkdsk -r press enter (ignore code 50)
chkdsk -f press enter (ignore code 50)
    11. Restart computer should boot fine.
(If u get a blue screen at windows loading bar ref lash the bios to clear an issues)
My computer is currently running now on windows vista and I didnt lose a single file.
a court boot sector marks the partition hidden or inactive and thats how to fix it without restoring your windows and losing everything you have if you dont have back up disk.
