Blue square instead of photo in email!
Why can't I view pictures sent in email on my iPhone? It worked fine on my 3g, I now have a 3gs and I get a small blue square with a question mark inside instead of photos. Why is this? As far as I know the settings are the same. So frustrating - hope somebody can help!

Question mark instead of photo in email
When I send a photo in an email from my mac to iphone, the photo only shows up as a question mark in the email on the iphone. Can anyone tell me why?

Black squares instead of photos
When I upload photos to iPhoto, some are there but most are just black squares. This happened when I uploaded from my phone and camera today, and I have no idea why as it's never happened before. How can I get my pictures to show up? I already tried updating iPhoto but I don't know what else to do.
Thanks so much for responding! I tried doing all of the options that popped up when I held down alt and command, including rebuild library twice, but none of them seemed to make any difference. Any chance you know of any other solutions? My photos do show up in edit mode, so I know they still exist, but they're still black squares in the library. I have a brand new MacBook Pro and just updated my software, if that gives you any more information.

Why do some of my emails have blue squares with a question mark instead of a picture or bar code?
No app installed that will view the pics and bar codes.
Which email client are you using? Which version?
File suffix of the pics & bar codes? Example: .pic, .bmp, .jpg, etc. -
Help! In iphoto my photos do not appear just a blank dated square. Somehow I messed up when trying to send a photo via email.I cannot not see any but 4 photos.I tried all of the solutions that Apple suggested. Somehow I think that i am trying to send ALL my photos in an email. How do i unhide all of my photos?
Did you launch iPhoto with the Option(Alt) and Commnad keys held down like Terence suggested? If you did it properly you will get this window:
The second option is the one you want to run.

Instead of an image i get a box with a blue square and white question mark help?
Lately instead of images coming up I have been getting a blank box which in the center has a smaller blue square with a white question mark inside, does anyone have any suggestions. Using safari version 8.0.3 on mac OX X Yosemite 10.10.2
From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit. -
Blue icon with question mark instead of image in email
Sometimes I get a blue icon with question mark instead of image in email, when viewing in Apple Mail Program.
Does anyone know why?????I'm asking your thread get redirected to the proper forum. Please read this tip on how to post on Discussions for future threads:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1574700
Is this issue with Tiger or Leopard? Your profile indicates you have a machine with Tiger, yet your signature of your post says you have Leopard.
Also, there is no such thing as a Powerbook Pro. Read the text under the screen to tell us exactly which model you have. MacBook Pro is the name given to Macs that are for the pro lineup of notebooks once Apple shifted to the Intel CPU.

Since July on MacBook Pro facebook images, profile photos, cover photos are not loading. Only small blue square with question mark. Same thing in Safari, FireFox, Chrome. Everything is up to date including last version of Adobe Flash. And watching YouTube also a problem. Video is skipping, freezing for few seconds and jumps forward. At the same time on Toshiba with Windows Vista under the same account, same wi-fi connection everything works fine.
Please help with sugesstions to fix the issue.Seems like problem is solved but it might be temporarily. Anyway. Click on the image, it will open facebook photo browser. Image is not loading so right click on the blue box with question mark, save image as. It will start downloading but without any success since browser do not see the image. After this attempt refresh the page and close all tabs with facebook. Try to open facebook once again. For some reason after this weird actions all images displayed properly. Do not know for how long but now it works.

Blue Square with question mark instead of pictures
I'm trying to open a website, but certain pictures won't load. They are replaced by a blue box with a question mark inside. I've tried downloading flashplayer 10 but that doesn't seem to help. Any ideas?
ChrisOK, I get the point about the password, but therein lies a clue. If this is not happening to other sites, then there is a possibility that there may be an error (or several) on the coding or image locations at that page/site.
It would be a good idea to see if anyone else is having such problems, although this might not give a definitive answer. Flashplayer 10 may not help this problem if the problem images are JPG. The JPG with a problem is indicated by a blue square with a question mark. A Flash problem shows a white/grey cube icon.
Methinks, that if other sites are not giving problems, it is the way this site is coded. -
IPhoto just printing blue squares
Hi,
Trying to print from iPhoto 6.04 to my HP Business Inkjet 2600, it just prints out blue squares (the same size as the intended pictures) instead of the photographs. Photoshop/Illustrator images print ok, and everything is up to date. Has anyone had any experience of this, or might know a possible solution?
CheersJim:
Another user having problems with printing reported that removing the print drivers and reinstalling them solved the problem. You might give that a try.
Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance. -
In Mail 3.6 remote images in HTML messages display as blue squares with ? even though checked in viewing references.
Nurit,
The point is that that button should not be there, if the preference setting is as you say. This indicates the preference setting is stuck, and that is what I was trying to help you resolve.
The full purge is done as follows:
Quit Mail, and in the Finder open Home/Library and locate the Mail folder. Control-click over the Mail folder, and choose Duplicate -- then drag the resulting copy to the Desktop for temporary backup. Next, open Home/Library/Preferences and find the com.apple.mail.plist file and drag it to the desktop.
Relaunch Mail, which will open as though new, and when prompted to import anything DECLINE. Instead, re-enter your account info, and Mail will re-discover the account folders for your accounts, and all should be well, after setting preferences as you desire.
Ask any needed questions, and keep us posted.

Sudden Problem Sending Photos by Email
Hi,
After being able to successfully send photos from my iPhone by email ever since I got it, I suddenly have a problem. The recipient does not receive the photo - only a small blue box with a question mark in it. The copy of the email in my Sent folder looks the same.
I've tried a reset and, for info, I use BT Yahoo for email.
Have hunted high and low for reference to this and only found one post but there was no real explanation or resolution.
Any help or advice gratefully received. Cheers!
adam.shYou are referring to this discussion, right?
Problem sending photos via email since I recently updated to iLife 11.
Which MacOS X version are you using and which iPhoto version?
If you are using Yosemite and have enabled up two-step verification for iCloud? Then you may need to create an application specific password for iPhoto. See this discussion: Re: Unable to send photo through email using iphoto theme (designs)Re: Unable to send photo through email using iphoto theme (designs)Re: Unable to send photo through email using iphoto theme (designs) Unable to send photo through email using iphoto theme (designs) -
I had already entered my Email info under preferences.
The screen comes up with the photos I want to send.
I type my message and hit Send. The blue bar appears "Sending".
However, don't know where the photos go, they don't reach destination.
I tried sending to myself at another Email address - they didn't arrive, and they are not shown under Sent Emails either.
How to resolve?
Tried to respond to T. Devlin - but that didn't happen either. Just a Like symbol was there (as in Facebook). You are referring to this discussion, right?

How to send photos as email attachments???
This is a ridiculously easy and simple question but I'm a mac newbie and can't figure out how to send photos as email attachments, not embed them in the body of the email. Every time I go to send a picture or group of pictures from i-photo an email message opens....the pictures are embedded in the body of the email and that's how they appear to receipients. In a test, I've sent them to a PC...the message comes through just fine but the photos don't have separate attachments that I can click on and "save as." they come through as bitmap files. Any ideas? THANK YOU.
It will not ALWAYS fix the problem that this topic is about; I had my Mail preferences set to send as Plain Text and it did not fix the problem. Additionally, since there is NOT an option in Iphoto as you previously noted, it might be confusing to some people.
However, for those of you who have the same problem, there seems to be a solution that worked for me. I also had the problem that Mail was overriding my sizing preference when I selected them in Iphoto (share > email) and always sending them as small instead of medium as I preferred.
Since it seems that sometimes Mail does not deploy the plain text default so you need to kick start it to remember. This is how I did it....
- Select the photos you want and hit SHARE > EMAIL in Iphoto
- Now, in Mail click on the photo browser button
- Find another photo in Iphoto via the browser and drag and drop it into the email that you're composing
- You'll see a size option appear in the bottom right hand corner
- Playing around with the sizing option a few times kicked it into gear and it seems to be working better since then
I hope that helps anyone who has had the same problem.
