Blue tint of screen on my iPhone 3GS

When the phone is cooler than room temperature - then the screen has a clear blue tint.
It goes after the heating in your hand or pocket.

My iPhone is doing the same. It has not been water damaged and it is just 2 years old.
It started going blue then back to normal when switched off and on but it is now permanently blue. Still works fine but looks rubbish!
I have looked at several sites and this seems a common problem. The age seems to be 18 months old onwards.
I agree that this quality of product should not fail especially as it is only the LCD. Pity Apple don't seem to think it is a hardware problem!
Looks like I will have to have a go at repairing it myself. Not sure what the cost is in the UK, but I guess it will be over £100.

This is called "no backlight problem". Try a Reset, hold both home and power buttons until the iPhone begins to restart, usually takes 10 seconds of holding both buttons.
This problem is usually due to Liquid Damage to iPhone, either Logic Board component or LCD Display.
If you have Warranty or AppleCare Coverage, hope it is not Liquid Damage and make Genius Reservation and take iPhone to Apple for resolution.

My iPhone 3GS displayed the White screen of death and was told to restore my phone but iTunes said there was a problem and now my iPhone won't turn on at all.

That happened to me once and the only was is to fix it is to use recovery mode.
1. Connect your USB cable to your computer but NOT your iPhone.
2. Turn your phone off.
3. When your phone is off, press the home button and connect your iPhone to your computer.
4. Your iPhone will turn on and keep pressing to the home button. iTunes logo will appear on your screen.
5. You can start your restoration progress.
Hope this helps. Thats is how I saved my phone. It also seems to me that the phone you are using right now may had been jailbroken and stopped working.

Camera icon on lock screen in iOS 5.1 only makes lock screen jump on iPhone 3GS

I upgraded my iPhone 3GS to iOS 5.1 just now - and found the first bug within the first few seconds.
The camera quick access icon on the lock screen only makes the lock screen jump up and down a little, so about half of the photo app's lower bar, where the shutter, still/video icon etc. is, becomes visible for less than a second. And that's it.
I can't believe that nobody tested this on a 3GS.
It seems Apple got completely lost in stuffing in more and more frills and gadgets, everything after iOS 3.1.3 is way beyond a simple, clear and easy to use interface, and every little frill introduces more and more bugs and flaws. Having something simply and clear has been something that Apple was really good at - but that seems to be history.
Man, I'm SO annoyed - and SO disappointed.

Sorry, I meant swiping, not tapping.
It took me three reboots and one restore from the previous backup, only after that it started working as expected.
I also noticed that a lot of ram kept being marked as used although not a single app was running in the background.
Anyway - why did it need to be a swipe instead of a tap? One can only access it after a home button press - safe enough to not accidentally activate it.
I miss the possibility like in iOS 3 to assign the home button double-click to the camera start. THAT was really handy.

How do I get rid of a white screen on an iPhone 3GS?

My iPhone 3GS was running low on battery so I plugged it into my car charger. I checked on it a few minutes later and when I pressed the Home button, only got a white screen (like a flashlight app but don't have one). I tried to power it off, but couldn't. When I got home, I plugged it into my laptop and it synced as if nothing was wrong but I still have a white screen.

Blue Tint to Screen

I just had the LCD screen replaced by a certified Apple Dealer...now that I'm home and using it, it seems to have a blue tint to the screen which it did not have before. I have tried to make a few adjustments but nothing seems to work. Might I have a defective screen, are there other adjustments I can make to it or is this normal?

Has anything else been changed, like maybe software? And how deep of a tint is it? Maybe there is something on the screen. Try wiping it with a wet cloth. I'm sure if it is the computer doing this, you can go into the settings to change it. I'm not a professional Mac user, as I've only had one for about 2 weeks, but I'm getting the hang of switching from PC to Mac. On PC's, I'm not a professional, but I am much more advanced than the average user. If you need anything else just ask.

Open iTunes on computer. Connect iPhone to computer with USB cable. Hold both Home and Power button, after exactly 10 seconds release the Power Button, keep holding the Home button until iTunes recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode, usually about 20 seconds time. If the iPhone screen is black, blank this is DFU Mode. Click the Restore button of iTunes. DFU Mode can be difficult to enter sometimes, just keep trying. DFU Mode is a black, blank screen with iTunes saying Recovery Mode.

IPhone 3GS screen no green colour

The screen on my iPhone 3GS has broken and now does not show any green or red
(this fault is intermittent but is almost constant) and I was wondering if this can be fixed by replacing the LCD screen with a new one? I would have to do this myself as I do not have a lot of money and the Phone is no longer under warranty
