Blueish screen

The screen of my 3rd gen 32gb ipod touch shows thin semi-transparent horizontal blue / green lines. I can still open every application normally. It looks as if somehow I messed up with its hue / contrast configuration.
The first time they appeared, about 2 weeks ago, I just clicked on the sleep button twice and the screen returned to normal. Now, even if I reset or restore it, the blueish tint just won't go away.
The software is up to date and the auto-brightness option is disabled.
Thanks for the help.

You better have warrenty still valid on that ipod touch to get a replacement or repair because that isn't a software fault its the actual screen thats skrewed up
Best of luck

  • Imac blueish screen/pinkscreen and lines RANT!

I work in a University and one of our labs has 52 imacs, I must say that they have been the most unreliable machines we have ever bought, expensive to purchase compared to the pc's in the other labs and difficult/expensive to repair. Apple support has been terrible, they are 2 years old 6 have blue/green screens, 3 pink and five others with lines that apprear at random times, the lenght of time it takes apple to fix a fault is rather shocking, we had 4 machins away for nearly six months. we had crt imacs before and they were fairly reliable, these flat panels are terrible, all screen issues no other hardware problems. some of the solutins apple have offered are an absolute disgrace, 2 months waiting to be told to switch them off overnight! great in a 24hour lab, don;t move the screens around so much! and the best one, perhaps the room is too hot with all those machines in it! yes thats right Apple, we keep the students crushed together in a small wooden barn.... Apple have really gone downhill, we have sent back 4 powerbooks, 3 ibooks and had replacement batteries and logicboards under the exchange program in the last year, poor poor poor, still My ipod still works, yay Apple

Yesterday my iMac G4 took a powder with the "pink screen of death" when I woke it up from sleeping. At first I thought it was odd that it would have a pink hue on Valentines Day, but my iMac G5 was fine. I have 10.4.4 and Sophos AV installed on both. I never move the computer (ever) and I have it in an area with good air flow.
So I look it up on the support to no avail. I found some links in the outside world to forum posts that are now missing (deleted). So I just decided to view the posts one-by-one on here and there has to be several dozen different threads started.
My machine is less than three years old, but I didn't RTFD on activating the warranty so therefore I am SOL on getting it fixed through Apple. I talked to an old workmate who is the IT Dir for a school running 500+ iMac G4 (and G5). He told me that he has had close to a dozen failures in the past two months. His Apple support has been poor, in his opinion, but he was able to get them fixed under warranty. He did however, tell me how to fix it, and pointed me to some web articles.
So I tried the fixes on the monitor cable and it appears to have worked for now. The video cable didn't look loose to begin with but pushing it down harder seemed to do the trick. Buying the Heat Sink Compound, an important step, was easy as most Radio Shacks carry it for under $3USD. I doubt that most people would be able to pull this repair off themselves though.
My point is that this does seem to be a widespread issue and I can only hope that Apple does the right thing. I know they have extended repairs past warranty expirations in the past and think they should consider doing that here to save people the hassle of doing it themselves or having some repair shop botch it for $$$.

  • My screen is, like a blueish turquoise color after downloading ios6 on my ipod touch it won't leave this colored screen and even when I restart it the save screen pops up, will it ever go back?

My ipod doesn't change from this frozen blueish screen.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Blank Pale Screen, computer works fine when connected to external vid

My powerbook has been working fine, though I've been living in a very hot place so it has been subjected to extreme heat at times. One day, put it to sleep before a meeting, when I opened it to wake it up, it showed only a blank greyish/white/pale blueish screen. I rebooted, same thing. The computer makes the startup chime, the caps lock, volume and even brightness keys all work, there is just no image. When it should be showing the apple startup logo, the screen is slightly paler with really faint white lines running along center right. When it should be showing the desktop, it is blank with a small circle of slightly brighter light in the upper right hand. Connected it to an external monitor and was able to get my data off and work on it just fine. A week later, still no change to display. What's wrong? What can I do? (This computer is obviously outside of warranty and apple care as it was purchased in 2005)

Your video cable or your LCD panel has failed. If there is no change in what appears on the screen when you change its tilt angle, the LCD is probably at fault. If changing the screen's angle causes any change in the displayed image, the fault is probably in the cable. Apple's response to either fault would be to replace the entire display assembly, which includes the cable. That would cost a great deal — probably more than the machine is worth in good working condition. You could buy a good used display and install it yourself for less, if you're up for a DIY challenge:

If you're not, you may want to start looking for another machine.

I have a WS2012 standard server with W8 Pro clients. I'm trying to force the lock screen to a .jpg however it's not working, it leaves the users with just a standard blueish screen.
I have the "force a specific default lock screen image" enabled with the path \\MRS-DC\WP\mrc_lock_screen.jpg
The GPO is being applied according to the results wizard, however no image. What gives?

  • Problems Syncing with TV

I am attempting to use my TV as an external display to watch movies and such. I am using a DVI to HDMI cable for the connection.
When I plug the cable into the laptop (MacBook Pro) it will start to sync up but then will continually switch between the desktop and a blueish screen every few seconds.
On occasion this does lead to the Display application crashing and my having to reopen it. I got it to sync up last night after fiddling with the input selection on the TV. I did manage to get it to work. Now unfortunately I can't remember the sequence I went through to get it to work.
Anyone know why it is failing to sync up correctly? Is this an OS issue or a hardware issue?

    Guess no one knows...

  • Macbook display black... then not.... then yes....

    Hello to all,
My black Macbook works perfectly with the external display attached. When I use the internal display, at launch, the screen ignites but then shuts of immediately.
I've tried several thing and was about to bring it to the local Apple repair shop, when I did the last test of booting it with the snow leopard install disc. And to my surprise, the screen then works perfectly. When I then eject the SL disc and boot again, it still works. But then after a few hours, when I start the MB again, the screen is black. Could this be a problem with the display preferences? Am I right to believe this is a software problem and not hardware linked (I still have 16 month Applecare left so it's not really an economic issue, but I work with this machine and would be in trouble if I were to be left without it even for a few days...)
    Thanks for the advice.

    Hi Ladies and Gents,
Allow me to rejuvenate Mark's post, coz since about 10 minutes ago I do seem to have the exact same problem...
My black MacBook's 13'' display worked perfectly fine from the day of purchase in late 2006 until just a few moments ago.
Now, when I start the computer, the display ignites normally for half a second or so (ie. I see a blueish screen). Then, however, the display suddenly turns black (although the computer continues to boot up perfectly fine).
It may be important to note that the screen is not pitch-black, since I can still make out a few details on my desktop and somewhat see where I move the cursor. So the most appropriate way to describe the color of my display would probably be dark-dark-dark-greyish, along the verge of pitch-black.
Can anybody tell me what this problem is? Is there any way for me to solve the underlying issue myself or do I need to have this analyzed and taken care of professionally?
I'd very much appreciate your help! Thank you very much!

  • Vertical Lines only

I have an Mac 12" Aluminum power book where the screen is not functioning properly. When I boot it up, the display turns on, usually a blueish screen with vertical line in the display that seem to represent the horrizontal postion of text that should be on the screen. As I move the mouse, these vertical lines move laterally in sync with the mouse movements.
Is there any way of determining if the problem is with the cable or inverter board or the LCD???
    Thanks
    Bob

Hi Bob's. Connect an external monitor to the Powerbook. Does that show the same thing as the built-in display? If so, the video circuitry on your logic board has failed, and the logic board will need to be replaced. If the external display looks fine, you have a problem with the video cable leading to the built-in LCD or with the LCD itself. If changing the display's tilt angle has any effect on what appears on the screen, the cable is probably pinched or chafed where it passes through the dsiplay hinge. If not, the problem is more likely in the LCD.
If your built-in display is backlit, your inverter is fine.

  • Several MacPro issues

    Hi,
Very happy with my macbookpro 17". But I am experiencing more and more weird crashes and it is kinda getting irritating now. Some examples:
-Programs dont start at all or crash right away
-Safari crashes all the time, cant browse at all, but other programs seem to just dissapear
-In the beginning there were some crash reports, now NONE at all (doublechecked the logs manually)
-Working half or just not really, spotlight for example wont search at all from time to time
-Mail, not as bad as safari but getting close.
-Text and icon rendering errors at all programs, especially when running adobe software
-Kernel panics when getting out of sleep (noticed that when Mail is nog running this seems not be happening)
-Not responding programs, mainly iworks stuff (iphoto)
Then there is the lid thing, when you close the lid and the laptop sleeps it goes on when you put in your bag; just a lit of bit pressure (righthand side) on the lid is necessary to get it going out of sleep. So now we (yes both of our 17" have these problems) have to shutdown the laptop before going somewhere.....
The latest kernel update isnt helping and it seems every intelbased software update (changing existing software to u-binary) I do makes it worse.
In short, does anyone have a genius plan to get my macbookpro working like my 15" powerbook?
    Ciao!

Thanks for the advice. A new user account did have less problems, but soon it looked worse. Did have a hunch I might be bad RAM, and it was!
    Nevertheless, some problems still exists:
    -blueish screen when (fast)switching users
-wakeup when the lid is closed (a little pressure applied)
-safari still crashes from time to time
-adobe/macromedia programs getting more errors like "application not responding"
Next weekend I will trie an fresh install (brings back windows memories) because the firewire documents/applications transfer between my pwb G4 and mbp is probably also a source of errors.
    ciao!

  • My iPod will not turn on after interrupted iOS 6 update. Please Help!

I need help with my iPod Touch 4th Generation! It was in the morning and I was getting ready for school, and I saw my iPod needed the iOS 6 update. So I updated it, and when it was installing (showing that bar) I accidently was late, and took my iPod with me. I left the Wifi Area and now when it turns on the apple logo darkens and then it goes to a greyish blueish screen. Sometimes when it turns on the apple logo darkens and then goes to the same screen with a bunch of lines across it. What happened, and how do I fix it? If I turn it off it turns on by itself and then does the same as above. Please help me!

  • BT Vision - HDD Access failed: error code VDR370 ?...

For weeks this box as been playing up, rebooting it self for now reason, this i can take.  Almost 2 weeks ago, woke up for work, turn the TV on and was presented with this: Grey blueish screen: Top left corner "Starting" - Bottom right corner - "BT Vision" - and the bottom middle this "HDD Access Failed: error code VDR370" Now to me this looks like an Hard Drive failure.  Called the Tech Help, the guy said I must be mistaken, that cannot be the code, I said yes.  After spelling out to this idiot that I have gone through the steps on this web site (4 to be precise), it is not working.  i asked can you find out what this means, he said he doesn't know.  I asked to speak to someone who can tell me what this means, nop, all he can do is send out an engineer which will take at least a week for them to arrive, then to make matters worse, if the problem is user error I will be billed £125.95 WT*.
I explained I am an IT engineer, and since no one there can tell me what this error is, I am confident that this error is Hard drive problem, as it is clicking also.  So my question is: What does this error mean " HDD ACCESS FAILED: ERROR CODE VDR370" SIMPLE.

    Hi bazk123,
Thanks for posting. It does sound like this is a drive failure. Is the box making any clicking or whirring sounds? If so it does require an engineer visit to check the box and replace if necessary. I can look into this for you if you wish. Just drop me an email with the details. You'll get the "contact us" form in the about me section of my profile.

  • Monitor will not shut off

I have a HyVision mv220 LCD monitor. After I shut down the Mac Pro the monitor will remain on with an odd blueish screen. In order to get the monitor to shut down I have to turn it off with the power button. I also tried this using Bootcamp and on the PC side the monitor will shut off (or power down or sleep... what ever it is called) when I shutdown. Anyone know how to fix this?

I understand that the amber light which shuts down your computer monitor will not power down, and I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
I am providing you with some steps you can try below:
Step 1. Unplug the power cord from the back of the monitor and the wall
Step 2. Hold the power button down for at least one minute
Step 3. Plug the power cord back into the monitor and then into the wall outlet (not a power bar or surge protector)
Step 4. Press the Menu button on the monitor
Step 5. Navigate to the Factory Reset option and select it
Step 6. Try a different cable connecting your monitor to your computer
If the above steps did not resolve your issue you can try the monitor on a computer or other device to see if the issue persists. Please call our technical support at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region.
