Bluesoleil on Macbook Pro (2011) under Bootcamp

I am probably behind the curve, as I am new to owning a Mac, but I contacted the Bluesoleil company to find out how to add the Macbook Pro's bluetooth module to the Bluesoleil stack.  I find the native Windows stack to be missing alot of features and controls, that the paid Bluesoleil stack fills in quite nicely.  However, the driver .inf files don't have the proper VID/PIDs to recognize the built in module.
So, after manually editing the bttl.inf and the btusb.inf, you can get the built in broadcomm module to work properly and quite proficiently.
The changes to the two files are documented in the instructions that IVT sent me, and cleaned up with more concise english:
https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=1Rb8dw9FHuQAzzZ_b-1lPyoBlRZPAcLL0jBADMgYhnRWx22v y6YAi_hGZ7e5-&hl=en_US
If the instructions are hard to follow (the kind of were for me), I have the two files that i have already edited for download:
bttl.ini goes in C:\Program Files\IVT Corporation\BlueSoleil\ or C:\Program Files (x86)\IVT Corporation\BlueSoleil\
btusb goes in C:\Program Files\IVT Corporation\BlueSoleil\driver\usb or C:\Program Files (X86)\IVT Corporation\BlueSoleil\driver\usb
https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B6ajMv_Xh2dTZGJlN2FlMTktYjZjYy00ZGE0LWIyZjItYzJ kNWYzY2IxNDNi&hl=en_US
https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B6ajMv_Xh2dTMzFlMjFmMmEtNThlYS00YjJmLWJlNDAtYTF mYTQwODdjODE2&hl=en_US
After all is done, point the Apple Bluetooth's driver to the ones located in the Bluesoleil folder and it should work with the Bluesoleil stack.  A2DP should now work, as well as headset profile, object push, and some other features that are missing from the native Windows stack.

So that you know, this is a stop-gap work around. I have had some random trouble with connections from time to time but nothing permanent.  I still hold out hope that Bluesoleil will offer official support for this generation of mac within the coming months.  i'm assuming you are using windows 7 for this, but it will be the same for vista.  Go to the start button and in the search box type in "device manager."  Under the list of devices that pop up, select the bluetooth radios catagory.  Select the broadcomm device by right clicking on it and selecting properties. From the new window that pops up, select the "driver" tab from the top and select "update driver."  another new dialogue box will pop up. from this window select "browse computer" instead of "automatically find."  You will then click on "have disk" and navigate to the location where you put the bttc.ini file and select that.  after the driver installs, your computer will need to restart.  you should now be able to use the Bluesoleil software to control the bluetooth functions.  I have gotten both headsets similar to your plantronics and stereo headsets to work, as well as mice and keyboards.
as i said before, it's mostly a work around, but if you need to get bluetooth headset or audio working under boot camp, this is the only way i could find so far.  good luck!

  • Trackpad Problem on MacBook Pro 2011 with bootcamp windows 7

I am running Windows 7 in bootcamp on my 13 inch MBP 2011.
I am really pleased how smooth the installation went and everything so far works as it was on my old windows mashine.
Just the trackpad is not running very smooth.
I reduced the scrolling down speed so the scrolling with two fingers is quiet alright now. But I have a problem with this touch to click function. Very often when I write I touch the trackpad with the palm of one hand and this results in actions like my text is continued in another line or suddenly whole paragraphs are highlighted or any other odd behaviour.
I thought to take the touch to click function off but I can't even find the setting in the windows control panel.
There are only the pure standard driver settings available in the control.
Can anybody tell me if there is a solution? Actuallly I like this touch to click, it's working very well when I use the trackpad. I know in other machines you can set a function that it's regonized if you put your finger on a trackpad or it's your palm whilst your writing, or the trackpad disables itself when the keyboard is used.
Is there maybe a better driver for the new MacBook trackpad under windows seven...or do I even have maybe a wrong driver onboard?
    Thanks for the help!

    Hi psheraton,
I have found now some setting so that I can first at all live with it. Nevertheless i would be very thankful when Apple would work the touchpaddriver over so that it works smoother. Its such an nice device and the big touchpad is great but its realy working very poor under bootcamp.
    Maybe you try my settings:
First at all start bootcamp from windows system, and go to the trackpadsettings. Take out the touch for klick. You can forget working with this as when you write it just hops wherever it wants.. as I wrote before, youre suddenly write on in a completly different paragraph...that impossible to use with this settings.
Its a shame as acutally using this touch to click in other applications than writing is very smooth and good.
Other notebooks having an automaticle regonizion function which notices when your accidently put your wrist or palm on the touchpad whilst using the keyboard. Thats certanly what is needed here es well, especially because of the huge touchpad.
Next you have to go to the windows mouse driver which is not in bootcamp but in the standard Windows system settings and adjust the scroll speed down to 1 on each of the two functions there.
This then takes the overdose of speed away when you use two fingers on the touchpad to scroll.
Having it set to more than 1 is not usable either.
These are the setting how I have build myself a workaround for the moment.
But as I said...please please Apple work at this touchpaddriver together with Microsoft to get more out of this wonderful trackpad.
Hope this helps you liking your device a bit more....only Apple could help us further now...

  • Will my Razer Gaming products work on my Macbook pro 2011 with bootcamp?

I have purchased 16gb of RAM for my Macbook pro late 2011 so bootcamp will run very fast when I purchase it. I was wondering if my Razer gaming accesories will work on my Macbook with bootcamp, and for future purchases of gaming accessories. Thanks

    Boot Camp is
a misname for an Apple oriented GPart etc to partiton a drive for use by Windows natively, drivers, a control panel for Windows, and download utility for those drivers.
You are running Windows natively which is 93% the same as running on most any PC hardware.
    So it should.

  • MacBook Pro Overheating under bootcamp

Hey all. I have been having a massive overheating problem with my MBP when trying to play games under bootcamp and windows XP.
    - I have called Apple Support - they were not much help save to tell me not to place the computer on my lap.
    - I do not have the laptop on my lap instead always placing it on a desk.
    - I have tried to elevate it slightly off the desk to allow more air flow
    - Last time I actually had it elevated and placed on a cookie sheet to dissipate the heat.
    - SMCFan is certainly a help, but it doesn't stop the problem either.
Anyone else have this problem to the same extent? Solutions? With the exception of creating a large fan assembly to force air through the machine it seems that it just won't run for very long without shutting itself down.
For such an expensive machine, this is a rather large irritation.

    Really?
You're running Windows via a virtual machine program in OS X. It's going to use the same OS X undervolting as usual, so of course you won't experience shutdowns. Boot Camp is an entirely different problem.
Even after replacing the original logic board in my Pro I've been suffering from shutdowns. I have a desk fan and a window fan positioned right next to the mbpro on the desk and have SMC Fan Control running the fans at 6k after a soft reboot into Windows. Even Team Fortress 2 at low graphics settings and native rez causes a shutdown. I don't understand why Apple hasn't worked on creating the same power management through Boot Camp as is used in OS X. For example, The Sims 3 run on high graphics will not cause a shutdown, yet TF2 does in Windows.
Boot Camp needs to be fixed.

I've installed windows 7 with the help of bootcamp on my macbook pro 2011.
Please help me how to install mac drivers for windows7 64 bit???

You either download drivers from within Boot Camp Assistant and save to USB FAT disk, or you insert and use 10.6.x OS X DVD when in Windows and install and run the SETUP from there.

Step 4: Install the Boot Camp Drivers for Windows
After installing Windows, install Mac-specific drivers and other software for Windows using your Mac OS X installation disc.  The Mac OS X disc installs drivers to support Mac components, including AirPort,built-in iSight camera, the Apple Remote, the trackpad on a portable Mac, and thefunction keys on an Apple keyboard.
The Mac OS X disc also installs the Boot Camp control panel for Windows and theApple Boot Camp system tray item.
To install the Boot Camp drivers:
1 Eject the Windows installation disc.
2 Insert the Mac OS X disc.  If the installer doesn’t start automatically, browse the disc using Windows Explorerand double-click the setup.exe file in the Boot Camp directory.
    3 Follow the onscreen instructions.
If a message appears that says the software you’re installing has not passed Windows  Logo testing, click Continue Anyway.
Windows that appear only briefly during the installation don’t require your input.
If nothing appears to be happening, there may be a hidden window that you mustrespond to. Check the taskbar and look behind open windows.
Important: Do not click the Cancel button in any of the installer dialogs.
4 After your computer restarts, follow the instructions in the Found New Hardware  Wizard to update your software drivers (Windows XP only).
5 Follow the instructions for any other wizards that appear.
6 Check for updated Boot Camp drivers by using Apple Software Update or going to www.apple.com/support/bootcamp.
If You Have Problems Installing the Device Drivers
If it appears that the Boot Camp drivers weren’t successfully installed, try repairing them.
    To repair Boot Camp drivers:
1 Start up your computer in Windows.
2 Insert your Mac OS X installation disc.
3 If the installer doesn’t start automatically, browse the disc using Windows Explorerand double-click the setup.exe file in the Boot Camp directory.
4 Click Repair and follow the onscreen instructions.
If a message appears that says the software you’re installing has not passed Windows  Logo testing, click Continue Anyway.
If you need to reinstall specific drivers, you can install one driver at a time. For example,if your built-in iSight camera isn’t working, you can reinstall just the iSight driver.
Individual drivers are in the Drivers folder on the Mac OS X installation disc.

  • How to reformat a Macbook pro 2011 hard drive?

    Hello,
How do you reformat a MacBook Pro (OS X 10.7.3) 2011s Hard drive? I already backed up all the files I wanted to save. But since I have the new Macbook pro 2011 (only a few months since I got it) it didn't come with an installation disc, but instead already came with all the applications. I'm wondering how to reformat the hard drive so it wipes out everything and I can start fresh and what would happen to all the applications?

Well Lion has a Lion Recovery Partition on the drive you can access by holding command r and booting, there you can erase the Lion OS X partition completely (all files and programs) and reinstall Lion or simply reinstall Lion if there is a issue with it (no programs or files are touched in this second procedure)
Lion is downloaded from apple's servers, you need AppleID and a fast reliable internet connection with no bandwidth caps limiting you.
    https://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718
If you want to replace the drive, there is software called Carbon Copy Cloner than can clone both the Lion OS X Partition and the Lion Recovery Partition to a external drive intact (excpet what's in the Trash, no Filevualt, no bootcamp, use free Winclone for that)
Hold the option key and you can boot from the external drive and format and clone everything to the new internal drive. TimeMachine of 10.7.2 and later can be booted from it's Lion Recovery Parttion as well just to restore only, cloning is better process because it gives full access to everything like before on the internal drive.
    http://www.bombich.com/index.html
Some newer Mac's have Lion Internet recovery built in where the firmware will install the Lion Recovery/OS back onto a completely blank/new hard drive.

  • Can I install windows 7 on a second internal drive on a macbook pro 2011?

Can I install windows 7 on a second internal drive on a macbook pro 2011? I have 2 500 gb. SSD drives in my 2011 MacBook Pro. My plan was to install windows 7 on the 2nd drive. I'm new at owning Macs so I have had Windows on main drive using bootcamp but I wanted to speed up my 17" Mac so I maxed out the memory and added the SSD drives.  Thinking I could put the 2 operating systems on seperate drives I bought to 2 SSD's. Is there any way to do this.  So far I have drawn a blank. Any ideas?

Yes. Just install Windows onto it without using the Boot Camp Assistant to partition it.

  • MacBook Pro 2011-11 is hot !

If I put an external monitor (actually, it’s a full HD external monitor), the AMD Radeon HD 6750 takes the job and even if there is no application that runs (excepted the Finder, of course, or AppleScript Editor only [used to quit the Finder]), after two or three minutes, I start to get my MacBook Pro 2011-11 hot (top-left).
I even put wood between the table (desk) and the MacBook pro feet, then added stoppers of plastic bottle: the hot start to be hotter.
Then, the Finder start to responding slow, slowly, very slow…
This can also happens on winter (the temperature of the room act on the hot, but only if it is 25 / 30 ° celcius.
The temperature tops around 80° celcius, but the overall slow of the computer make its use… nearly impossible. MICE under VirtualBox takes … nearly minutes to reassemble a two pages screen shot (2 images of 1440 pixels wide).
I recall that when I had my previous - smaller - monitor, I do not had that trouble. Its resolution was 1440 x 900 (same as the built-in monitor). In Fact, the Intel HD Graphics Card was the default one at these times. Once I replaced that monitor with a 22" (1920 x 1080) monitor, the AMD Radeon video card is running and the heath comes.
BTW: I run Lion, Mt Lion and Mavericks and the trouble exist with all these OSes.
    Ideas ?

The last version from July 14th (of course): 4.3.14
As it was during the last years (far before the trouble comes).
    Nota:
    a. the trouble does not appears when I had my old external monitor who was 1440 x 900 (same as the internal monitor resolution),
    b. the trouble exists (appears) when I connect the external monitor (both 1600 x 900 and 1920 x 1080). It does not seems top be related to anything else.
On Mavericks, when you click in the icon located in the right of the menu bar (notifications ?), and the gfxCardStatus application is running, you get a notification that said (something like):
    'AMD Radeom 8750' is active
    or
'Intel HD Graphics 3000' is active
It is not possible to set the GPU to Intel HD Graphics 3000 when the external monitor is plugged.
I installed that application weeks ago / far after the hot start.
That is why I say the fault comes from the AMD Radeom 8750 GPU !
    But, I may be wrong…

  • MacBook Pro 2011 - 15" Core i7 - SSD - Heating, Screen Flickering Issues

    Hello,
I recently brought MacBook Pro 2011 15" Anti-glare High Resolution with Core i7 2.2 G Hz, SSD, 8GB of RAM. I installed Microsoft Office and Angry Birds at this time. I'm facing multiple issues with my first Mac. Is anyone facing these kinds of issues in new MacBook Pro 15" models?
Issue 1: Heating: Fan running on high speed even though room temp is below 60F. No major applications are running at that time expect Office 2011 and web surfing (NOT watching any video) and listening iTunes.
Issue 2: When I log-off from computer, the screen flickers and goes to lower resolution. Also the windows colors changed to different colors. After log-in, I went to System Preferences > Displays. The highest resolution is already selected (1680 x 1050) When I try to change to lower, it changes but still displays different window colors and changing suddenly.
    Troubleshooting Steps:
1.) Shutdown and Disconnected Power Cable (at that time battery is at 65%)
2.) Reconnected Power Cable and Power On the system
    3.) Display shows correctly.
    Unable to Resolve:
1.) Still fan is running on higher speed at low temp (below 60F with no major application running)
2.) Sometimes Display is not showing properly. It shows different color shades.
I scheduled support call with Apple Support and let's see what Apple can do...

I brought my first MacBook Pro 2011 on Day 1, so I can't return it since it won't come under 14 day return policy. I'm taking my Mac to Apple Store to fix all these issues. AppleInsider is also confirmed Disaplay Flicker issue on some of the models that they tested.

Macbook Pro (2011) froze while working, forced shut down, now won't turn on. Grey screen with apple logo and spinning wheel for hours. Help?
Unfortunately do not know the operating system since I never updated anything and I can't get in to it.
    Thanks for your assistance.

If you want to preserve the data on the boot drive, and it's not already backed up, you must try to back up now, before you do anything else. It may or may not be possible. If you don't care about the data, you can skip this step.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that is not fully functional. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
    1. Boot from the Recovery partition or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) Launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in this support article, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.”
    2. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, boot the non-working Mac in target disk mode. Use the working Mac to copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
    3. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.

  • MacBook PRO 2011 - Windows 7 - Can select HD graphics?

    Dear all,
I'm considering purchasing a MacBook PRO 2011 17" model (for the hardware, not for OSX, sorry). I want to run Windows 7 on it (not virtualized).
I did see from the Boot Camp description that Boot Camp provides drivers for both the Intel HD and the AMD graphics card. I'm not concerned with automatic graphics switching, since I won't be using it for gaming.
Since I'm going to be travelling by train quite a bit and want to be able to do my work en route, I would like to know if I will be able to select the integrated Intel graphics under Windows 7 (x64), or if I'm forced to use the AMD graphics.
    Thanks in advance.

AMD only. Graphics switching does not function under Windows 7 and the discrete AMD GPU is the one that is active. As the switching is not done via nVidia's Optimus technology, there is not a standard driver package that you can install that will achieve this (AMD/ATI's Catalyst package does not have GPU switching capabilities). Either Apple or a third party would need to develop and support this.

  • MacBook Pro 2011 Repair Extension Program for Video Issues -Feedback?

Anybody have any feedback from the MacBook Pro 2011 Repair Extension Program for Video Issues?
I had my early 2011 15 inch 8,2 repaired (free) under the extension program. The machine now appears to run well - but much hotter than before. The case is significantly hotter - especially at the GPU corner and the fans are constantly on moderate to high (not full). Anybody else experiencing similar changes?

  • Macbook Pro 2011 clamshell mode broken by latest software update?

After installing the latest MacBook Pro software update and EFI update through Software Update in the evening May 4, I am unable to enter clamshell mode any more. It used to work before. After waking up in the clamshell mode, the machine promptly goes back to sleep. On subsequent attempts to wake up the system, the laptop itself appears to wake up (at least the sleep light stops blinking) but the display does not even wake up. I can still work with external dsisplay with the lid open but this is highly annoying. I have reset the PRAM with no effect. The machine is a 2011 MBP, 15" inch, 2.2 GHz quad i7. Keyboard and mouse are wireless Microsoft desktop but the problem is also present with wired peripherals.
Does anyone else see this problem after installing the latest patch?

Okay, I'll add my frustration here as well.
I've had this problem too, and more noticable since the 1.4 update.
I posted a thread similar to this here.
But I'll just copy over what my main problem was...
Whenever I plug my computer into my Cinema Display (with the computer closed) it won't wake up fully. The status light will come on, any external hard drives will spin up, but the display won't turn on and the computer will go back to sleep.
I have to restart the computer manually to get it to work normally, and if I disconnect it while it's between the sleep and wake mode and try to open it, the backlight will come on but the screen will remain black, causing me to have to force restart it.
This is in addition to my first problem with the backlit keyboard not coming on automatically after sleep, which was temporarily fixed by resetting the SMC, but it goes back to the problem after a week or so.
What could be causing either of these problems? Could it have something to do with BootCamp since I have it installed, or is there a defect?
I would bring it back to Apple, but there's a small dent in the front right corner, and I'm afraid they would deny any problem I have.
I took my MacBook Pro (2011, i7 2.2, 17") into the Apple Store on Monday, and after about an hour of attempting to replicate the problem with a different monitor, there was only one time where there was any sort of problem.
The employee told me to see if there will be a fix, or otherwise they will replace the logic board for me.
One thing I'd like to add as a note...
It seems that the problem is more prominent when I have my computer with everything on it as usual. As in, before I took it to the Apple Store I performed a clean install of OS X, and that may be related to how bad the problem is, any opinions?
I had attempted at reinstalling OS X from a Time Machine Backup, but the problems continued shortly after completetion. In addition to this, I clean installed OS X, and manually reloaded my applications and media, hoping that the problem had stemmed from some kind of broken file system that could be repaired by a new install.
But no matter how I do it, the problem comes back despite the method. It is really something I want fixed, as I pretty much only use it in clamshell mode when home...
