Bluetooth acting up

Hello,
I have a T500 with Windows 7 installed, and the laptom has developed a Bluetooth problem that I can't get rid of. When I turn the computer on or return from the sleep state, the Bluetooth radio is turned off. If the computer is undocked this is not a  problem as I can press Fn+F5 and obtain the wireless menu. However, if the laptop is docked, and I am using an external keyboard, I have no way of turning the bluetooth on. Namely, under Windows 7 the Keyboard Customizer utility for simulating the Fn+F5 key combination is not available. Does anyone have a solution to this problem?
Regards,
bostjanv

My previous post was incomplete in the sense that it failed to state that the problem is still unsolved since I don't know how to make the laptop wake up or turn on with bluetooth  on; but at least I can turn bluetooth on manually from an external keyboard. Since I rely on a bluetooth mouse I have to call TpFnF5.exe on startup, then tab to the "turn on bluetooth" button, and press RETURN. Somewhat complicated, but the best I can do at the present.

  • Bluetooth acting very strange. Only one device works at a time.

    HI,
I have a bluetooth device in my macmini. And also now have airport.
But it seems only one device can connect at a time.
But if a keep turning the 2 dvices ona nd off and mucking around with them then eventuly both work at the same time. One being an apple wireless KB the other a macmice wireless mouse. i have tried other mouses but same result.
Was wondering if anyone would know why this is doing this and mayb a fix.
    any help would be great.

Instead of guessing, start playing mplayer and some flash source (youtube or whatever) and post the output of  'fuser -v /dev/snd/*'.
Is your mplayer using alsa? 'cat ~/.mplayer/config' might have the answer (if you use the config) or just check mplayer output:

    AUDIO: 44100 Hz, 2 ch, s16le, 128.0 kbit/9.07% (ratio: 16000->176400)

  • Why is the Bluetooth  acting strange after the 10.7.3 update

I have to manually sync my mouse and keyboard  every time I reboot my system. Everything was working fine before the update?? Any help would be appreciated !

I gave that a try, but it didnt seem to help. I had tried that before but without the reboot, so i figured it was worth a shoot. thanks for the help though!! any other suggestions would be very helpfull. Im hoping they come out with a patch soon to fix the problem. I looked in the advanced tap under bluetooth preferances and i noticed there was a serial port in the list, but it wasnt checked. there was 2 check boxes so i checked them both. that didnt seem to make any differance, so i put them back the way i found them.

  • Getting Bluetooth Stereo to Work (A2DP profile)

    IT WORKS!
I was terribly disappointed to learn that Apple didn't include the A2DP Bluetooth stereo profile in the iPhone. Since A2DP Bluetooth stereo is an established and stable standard, I can't think of any reason why Apple would not have included it in the iPhone. Hopefully they will add this as a firmware update, in the near future. In the mean time, I found a work-around.
For more than a year, I have been using the Wi-Gear, iMuffs MA110, Bluetooth dock adaptor on my conventional iPod, with great success. My Motorola HT820 headset worked simultaneously with both my cell phone and the MA110 on my iPod. The iPod would automatically pause, when a phone call came in. It was really great and best of all, NO WIRES!
Well, when I got my iPhone home and activated, one of the first things that I did, was to embark on finding a way to get rid that archaic wired headset that comes with the iPhone. The answer turned out to be rather simple, though somewhat irritating. I plugged my MA110 Bluetooth adaptor into the dock of the iPhone. The iPhone asked if I wanted to go into "Airplane Safe" mode. I responded "No." About 10 seconds later, I heard the beep in my Motorola HT820 headset, indicating that syncing had been successful.
I went to iTunes on the iPhone and picked a tune and it played over my HT820 headset. All of the headset controls worked (Play, Pause, FF, REW, Skip, Next) Then, I used my landline to call my iPhone. The music faded and I was able to use the phone function over the HT820.
The only glitch is that when I pause the music for too long, the iPhone removes power from the dock connector, which turns off the MA110 adaptor. This requires activating the iPhone screen and waiting for the MA110 to re-sync with the HT820 headset, before you can use it again. This only applies to pauses that were NOT instigated by a phone call or when you hang up a call and don't start the music again, right away. When you are on a phone call, the dock power stays active.
The irritating part is that Apple's limitations requires me to have a Bluetooth adaptor, at all. At least, the MA110 is quite small and unobtrusive. It's about the size of a quarter and about as thick as three quarters stacked. It's small enough to fit through the dock opening in most carrying cases. See the image here:
    http://ActionAmerica.org/images/iPhone-iMuffs.jpg
Note: Your Bluetooth headset must be turned on, BEFORE you plug in the iMuffs MA110, if syncing is to be successful. The same applies to re-activating the dock power after long pauses. Also, the first time you sync your headset to the MA110, you will probably have to put the headset into "Discover Me" mode.
I hope that this helps some of you.
It's not a great fix, but it should hold us, until Apple gets their Bluetooth act together.

what i want to know is if a2dp is entirely a software thing and thus we know its simply a matter of firmware update, or is it hardware related at all meaning that it might not even be possible for iPhone1.0 to ever support stereo via bluetooth? is it possible that the muffs bluetooth adapter has special hardware not in the iPhone is the reason it works?
if its just a matter of firmware, i can only assume its just a matter of time until this is fixed...but does seem a pretty glaring omission. I wish Apple would make some comments on things like this... i really like the look of the motorola rockr bluetooth headsets, and dont want to buy some momo single earpiece one now if stereo is coming soon...

  • Bluetooth fix for Lion

I found this over on the Macbook Air forum, it worked for me. Apparently if you use Migration Assistant you can end up with Bluetooth acting weird, as indeed I have been for the last few weeks.
    1) Go to: Macintosh HD->Library->Preferences
    2) Drag (the old migrated files) com.apple.Bluetooth.plist and com.apple.Bluetooth.plist.lockfile to the desktop. Note that Lion will force a COPY when you do this, you must actually delete them and Lion will request the admin password.
    3) Stop Bluetooth and logout.
    4) Login and restart Bluetooth.
    5) Repair (as in Bluetooth "pair") everything.
Thanks to RMalay for the correct answer.
    Lawrence

I had to delete ALL files containing .bluetooth in their name. After 3-4 attempts it worked!! First time in 5 years I was so mad at Apple!!! First time in five years! I felt like using a ****** windows machine!
Oh, please Steve come back, everything was all good when you were here:)

  • Should I Get?

I want to get a PowerBook G4 15" or MacBook Pro but don't which is better for music production (I use Logic Express) Photo editing (Aperture) and Movie editing. But, I also need good battery life.

5 hours 39 minutes illumination lowest, low CPU performance, WLAN deactivated, Bluetooth deact.
4 hours 23 minutes illumination medium, low CPU performance, WLAN activated, Bluetooth act.
3 hours 36 minutes illumination high, high CPU performance, WLAN activated, Bluetooth act.
These are figures from multiple users of the battery life on the MBP 2.0GHZ

  • In a locked down childs account , constant errors from programs trying to run

    Hi .
    iMac 21.5" 2.7GHz intel Core i5 , 8GB 1600mHz DDR3 running OSX 10.9.4
2 accounts , my own admin account , my kids controlled account ( normal user with parental restrictions )
My son is an avid Minecraft fan and I set up a safe parental controlled account on my iMac for him .
Mostly the kids use it to play minecraft , a few flash games on disney sites and to watch endless youtube videos .
Lately he has complained that there are error messages .
error dialogs are constantly popping up " you don't have permission to run RCD.app " is the most common , but plenty to do with citrix receiver software
( which I have installed ) pop up as well . They are pretty much making the account unusable
None of these dialogs ever popped up before .
Obviously he downloaded and tried to install something which is trying to launch these and frankly I'm worried that it's malicious. He says he tried to install a mod for minecraft . I originally set up the controlled account because he infected the main account with an adware toolbar while adding mods .
When the Childs account is logged in and I am in my account , bluetooth acts up and the mouse connection keeps dropping .
Obviously my account being an admin account I'm not getting any error messages ..but that doesn't mean it's not affecting it , I just don't know .
I'm looking for advice on what way to tackle this and get the account back to clean working order . Obviously , I want to find out whats causing the problem , isolate it and get rid of it , but all within a controlled account that does not have admin priveliges , or alternatively from the admin account , but cleaning out the user account
Any advice gratefully listened to !!

Weird, I created a couple of autoit scripts last year for some tiny sage updates and they both auto closed after running. Have you checked the script to see if it's going through all the commands properly?
    does a
    Exit
on the end of the script close it?
    https://www.autoitscript.com/autoit3/docs/keywords/Exit.htm
winwaitactive also has a timeout option.

  • My bluetooth is acting funny

I have a MacBook Pro (15" Early 2008) and the bluetooth has been acting really funny recently.
Everytime I connect a device, whether it's a keyboard, mouse, or headphones, the connection seems to be very sporadic and the devices are unresponsive. They will say connected but not work and then disconnect after a few minutes.
Is there anything I can do to correct this problem?
    Your help is much appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Thanks for your reply.
I did that but unfortunately it didn't solve the problem.
Besides, I've just downloaded the iStat Pro widget as well as Coconutbattery, and they both agree that
    1) my battery's health is only 33% (yet, I've only had my Mac for six months!), and that
    2) when it's not charging, it's draining even though the power cord is still plugged in.
Does this mean my battery is hopeless and I have to buy a new one?
    Thanks again.

  • Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard acting as if keys are pressed

I've had an Apple Aluminum Bluetooth keyboard for over two years, and last week (after a fresh install of OS X Lion on my late 2009 Mac Mini) all of a sudden the Mac is acting as if multiple keys are pressed when nothing is touching the keyboard. I have updated all software, replaced the batteries, deleted and re-paired the keyboard (which was a massive struggle as it acted as if keys were depressed even during the pairing process). Nothing has ever been spilled on the keyboard. The only way to make the sound of the "phantom depressed key" go away and regain full control of the computer, is to remove the batteries from the keyboard.
Strangely, the problem seemed to have been resolved somehow after I placed the "Show character viewer" icon in the main menu (ie. where there is usually a US/other nationality flag). After doing so, all of a sudden the problem disappeared.
Now, exactly a week later, the problem has reappeared.
Can anyone explain why a keyboard would act this way? Has anyone had a similar problem? Is there a fix?
I'm a longtime reader of theese support discussion boards, but this is the first time I've posted. Let me know if there's information that I can provide that would help us solve this issue.
    Cheers.

I have similar issue: both left and right shift keys time to time being pressed, it disappears after a while...but once I couldn't log in as the shift option puts caps lock on....really annoying.
The only reason in my case is the keyboard cleaning that I have done recently...
There is no quick fix for this I am afraid.
    Options:
1.Apple replaces the keyboard you pay around £200 I think....
    2. Buy new keyboard on Ebay and replace it yourself £40....

  • Finder acting weird lately for certain features (Bluetooth, Adobe illustrator etc.)

    Hi Everyone,
I have recently come across a new problem with my macbook pro.
While working with certain applications the finder is acting weird.
Adobe Illustrator - On trying to place a certain document from the desktop onto the art board on my AI file I tried to go the traditional way of placinf it by opening file > clicking on place > (finder pops open). Now, as soon as it came up it took just about 2 seconds for it to disappear. And it has been happening continuosly since then.
Bluetooh - to transfer some files from bluetooth on mac to my cellphone I chose the option: Send files to device...
Same thing happened again. Finder popped open and vanished in no time. Only this time I was completely unable to open it again at all.
The finder works perfectly everywhere else till now (atleast nothing wrong yet) but this is worrying me a bit as I have been reading about certain news of OS Mavericks being attacked by some flashback virus.
I would be grateful If anyone could help me with this.
    Thankyou,
    John Tushar

Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Preferences/com.apple.BluetoothFileExchange.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer ones.
Thanks to leonie for some information contained in this.
You might need to redo the View settings after an update.
Since I don't use Adobe Illustrator, I don't know which .plist might be causing the problem. You could try doing the above with all Adobe Illustrator .plists.

  • Getting quite frustrated with my iPhone 4S.  Can't access WIFI and/or Bluetooth nor will my computer allow it to be a "hotspot" unless physically tethered to computer.  It started acting up after download....it also has messed up some app

I've only had this phone since Sept. and have already had to have the speaker replaced.  NOW I can't access wifi and/or bluetooth (both are grey).  I can't use the Personal Hotspot either (and the passcode no longer shows up).  I can only access internet via the phone through the USB.  This started over the past few days (and after I updated to IOS).
Some of my apps no longer work either...over 100+ hours of audiobooks on Audible can't be accessed as the Audible app just shuts off.
Any recommendations on how to recify?   I'm pretty rural so downloaded anything takes going to the next town over to get a signal from the library...  and all of my searching is eating into my 5gb limit through ATT....so it is a bit irritating

called Apple Care this a.m....new upgrade on 12/31/12 is supposed to fix the "bug"

  • How do you act upon a slave connection in Bluetooth??

I have a serial port bluetooth adapter which i tried to find using my bluetooth device/service discovery Midlet. I could find the device but no services, but it's suppose to broadcast a SPP service!! I know my midlet is OK because it can find SPP on other PC's and phones.
So what i've now done is USE the serial port adapter to CONNECT TO MY phone as a master and my phone is slave. The question is what kind of code would i need to acknowledge this connection and receive data from the serial port adapter?? I can easily do it phone -> other device but i've never been pre-connected and not sure what to do..............

  • Can my Mac act as a Bluetooth headset?

I would like to pair my iPhone to my Mac, so I can answer phone calls from my Mac without picking up the phone. Is that possible?
I have tried the pairing, but iPhone refuses to recognize MacBook Pro has a valid Bluetooth device.

The App Store reviews are all for older versions, and the iPhone 4 failure reports were from just two people.  A third person reported no problems with using it with an iPhone 4.  There were some audio problems in earlier versions that could make it look like it just didn't work.  I exchanged some e-mails with the developer several weeks ago about intermittent audio, and he was very responsive.  1.2.20 doesn't appear to have any problems.
It works perfectly with my 3G, but I don't have an iPhone 4, so I can't tell you for certain that it works.  But, if you go directly to the developer's web site that I linked earlier, you can download the application and try it free for 21 days.  Then you can see for yourself if it works for your needs, rather than relying on just the App Store reviews.

  • Bluetooth MightMouse Acting weird

I have a new dual core 2 MBP 15". I just bought a MightyMouse and when i hook it up on bluetooth, it is very sluggish, and it is spazzy and moves everywhere. Also, when I dont touch either the trackpad or the mouse, the pointer on the screen still moves, spazzes and goes crazy unless i shut off the mouse. I have a wireless router and telephones that are 2.4 GHz, so i was wondering if it's interference and if not, what do i do? even if it interference, what can i do?
(also, i am not on a reflective surface with the mouse)

Here is an Apple advice letter that explains what it is and below that are the instructions.

However when I tried to mixed to two codes:
I cant get the appli to work:
when I click on YES to allow to connect nothing happens. i dont even have any error messages!!??

If you're saying that System Preferences crashes when you try to assign a keystroke to the above script, saved as an application, then it's not because of the script. Crash dumps aren't especially useful except to the developer of the application that crashed, and not always even then. Are there any log messages associated with the crash? Can you assign a keystroke to any other item? Can you do so as a different user?
