Bluetooth adapter (dongle)

Can I use a bluetooth adapter (dongle) on my HP 3015 to make it wireless?

Hi,
Basesd on its specs, it can only have:
Standard:
1 Hi-Speed USB 2.0; 1 HP Jetdirect 10/100/1000 Base-TX Ethernet embedded print server; 1 EIO; 1 Host USB 2.0 (front-panel); 2 internal Accessory (for connecting HP or partner solutions)
Optional:
HP Jetdirect EIO internal print servers; HP Jetdirect external print servers; HP 802.11b/g wireless print servers; HP EIO Parallel Port Adaptor
Looks like BT dongle is out of the picture. We need to know the following points to be able to work out an option.
Does it have wireless option ?
Do you have a wireless router at home ?
Does your Dell have wireless card ?
Regards.

  • Need suggestion for USB Bluetooth Adapter for HP Z230 Workstation

I've just purchased an HP Z230 Workstation, with an I7 processor.  I need to equip it with Bluetooth capability so that I can connect the computer to an old Palm Tungsten T2.
There are gobs of USB 4.0 Bluetooth adapters / dongles on the market, but reading buyer's comments, they all seem to have some type of problem with compatibility or installation issues on something.
Does anyone have a suggestion for a USB Bluetooth adapter that has worked well with the Z230?
Thanks in advance for any help.

  • Bluetooth adapter missing

After years of reliable service, my bluetooth adapter quit last night on my Mac Pro 5,1 (mid 2010) 12 core tower. I have been using Apple's wireless keyboard, magic mouse, magic trackpad, bluetooth keypad, and logitech wireless headset until I went to launch a Steam game and the mouse just quit moving. Of course I changed batteries, etc and finally found and tried my old wired keyboard and mouse.
When I go into System Information and look at the Bluetooth section under Hardware I have ?No information found" for the bluetooth adapter. Everything else looks like it should with no errors. The bluetooth status in the status bar is grayed out with a Not Available message.
So I am looking for an apple replacement part for the bluetooth adapter as I understand that EFI firmware updates require an integrated bluetooth adapter or you lose keybpard support for that process I would also like to know if anyone has tried other third-party bluetooth dongles or add-in cards with success.
Thanks for any advice you might have.

I'm back and working, I reset the NVRAM.
To do so, follow these simple steps:
    Power off the Mac Pro
On a wired keyboard press Command+P+R and hold them
    Power on the Mac Pro
While continuing to hold the COMMAND+P+R keys wait for the system to boot into the System Utilities screen. At that point all the wireless (bluetooth) devices were working so I restarted the Mac.
If anyone has any third-party bluetooth adapter suggestions I'd love to hear about them all the same.

  • What is the currently supported Apple-compatable bluetooth adapter?

I just purchased an Apple Wireless Keyboard and an Apple Wireless Trackpad for my Mac Pro (early 2008). I have an Asus Bluetooth USB Dongle which I use to connect the two devices through and everything seems to be working fine, except that neither device will wake my Mac Pro from sleep. As you can imagine this would cause me much grief.
I searched though the forums and found that there is a checkbox in the Bluetooth Preference Pane (By the way, currently running OS X 10.6.8 but I'm going to upgrade to Lion in a few months). In the Advanced... menu, I noticed that there is an "Allow Bluetoothe devices to wake this computer" checkbox but it is not selected and worse grayed out and unselectable. According to this article, when this box is grayed out it means that the setting is already in effect (See Section 10, Bullet 3). Well this is now really baffling.
After more research, I discovered that if you didn't purchase your Mac with Bluetooth already installed, then you need to use an Apple-supported Bluetooth USB Adapter in order to use some Apple-specific functions such as iSync and Wake From Sleep. I bet you can deduce that my Asus USB Dongle is not the supported device. According to this Apple Support Page, only the D-Link DBT-120 USB Bluetooth adapter (rev. B2 or later) is designated as such. So I continued my search.
The DBT-120 itself is not an expensive part, as I could find it anywhere from $12 to $60, but my is it ugly and big. But according to this D-Link page, the adapter is at it's End-of-Life as of May 1, 2011. Sigh.
Being that it is now several months later than that, does anyone know what the replacement Bluetooth USB Adapter is that will support Apple-Specific functions such as Wake From Sleep?

The problem is not your BT adaptor.  Almost any USB BT adaptor is "compatible (I use a IOGear GBU421).  The problem is it's, well, a usb adaptor.  It's a chicken and egg problem.  You have an adaptor plugged into usb.  But if you sleep your machine there's not power on the usb so the adaptor is turned off.  No power, no usb, no adaptor, no way for a BT device using it to wake the machine up.
I can see your "grief".  I use a wired keyboard so pushing any key on the keyboard will wake my machine.  I also know that unplugging and plugging the dongle back in will wake the machine.  But that is some "grief" waiting for the devices to repair with the BT.
One solution would just be to get a cheap wired usb mouse.  It's probably a good idea anyhow as a backup for the "moody" BT anyhow.  Then just click that mouse to turn you machine back on.
Another scheme, and this is just a untested theory, is based on the reasoning that any active operation (clicking a key, plugging unplugging something) on the usb wakes the machine up.  So perhaps a usb switch would have the same effect.  Specifically I am thinking of this usb A/B switch.  Perhaps just plugging it into a usb port, even not switching anything, is sufficient to wake the machine up.  But like I said it is only a theory.  Hey, a cheap $9 mouse is easier!

  • MBP and Bluetooth GPS dongle

I bought a Bluetooth GPS dongle for a PDA some years ago. This model:
    http://www.freedominput.com/freedom-accessories/keychain-gps-2000
Now I wonder whether it is possible to connect and use it with my MacBook Pro. Does it require 3rd party software? If so, any recommendations? Is it possible to make it work with Google maps somehow?
I have searched for information on this but almost all the postings deal with the use of GPS dongles with the iPhone.
    Thanks a million!

DeLorme sells Street Atlas USA 2010 separately for $40. They also sell it with the BT-20 Bluetooth GPS adapter for $100. SA USA 2010 does support many GPS devices including 'generic NMEA', but I'm not sure how the Bluetooth communication is handled. Contact their tech support and ask: www.delorme.com
Note that Street Atlas USA 2010 is a Windows program, so you have to run it under Bootcamp, Parallels, Fusion or the like.

  • Hotsyncing a palm centro using a bluetooth adapter and windows vista 64 bit

Please help. I have read and followed all of the other suggestions on this forum and nothing has worked.
I have a palm treo.  When I try to hotsync using the bluetooth adapter, it gives me a message stating:
"unable to connect, port is being used by another application".
I have rebooted, soft reset, etc.    and still get the same message.
I do not know how to set up another port on the windows vista program.  That was one suggestion.
I have selected both bluetooth and serial port under the hot sync manager.
    Nothing works.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    thanks

Hello akashmedehrotra and welcome to the community.....
Windows Vista 64 bit is only sync with a wireless connection.  Either Bluetooth or Infra Red.  The M515 does not have bluetooth, so you would have to purchase an IR Dongle and sync using Infra Red.  You won't be able to sync with the USB cable on your desktop.

  • How to install Trust bluetooth adapter 4.0 on my HP Pavillion p6-2304eb

Trust has not supplied a driver for Windows 8.1 so the issue is not with your PC or the operating system. Tyr plugging it into a usb 2.0 port. USB 3.0 ports are picky about devices.
The problem  is that the bluetooth dongle has no support for Windows 8.1.  Contact Trust .
Sorry to bear bad news. I would return the dongle and find one that suports Windows 8.1.

  • Bluetooth USB dongle stack download for Windows 7

I have a Toshiba USB bluetooth dongle. The software will not install using Windows 7 and the dongle does not work at all on my PC. The only download I could find for the software was for Toshiba notebooks! Where can I download the software/drivers? I must say that the support for updates to Windows 7 is very poor or very well hidden. Why is the stack only free for notebook users? Must I avoid Toshiba's products in future because the support seems to be non-existent. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi
Please take a look here on this Toshiba BT portal:
    http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/bluetooth/
Here you can download the newest Toshiba BT stack!
Here is also an explanation why the BT stack is valid for 30 days:

This message will appear ONLY if you are using non-Toshiba Bluetooth adapter.
The usage of Toshiba BT stack on all Toshiba products is NOT limited.

  • Bluetooth adapter issue after being unplugged then plugged back in

I am running 10.7.4, MacBook Pro 2 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB Ram, Thunderbolt Display with Apple wired Keyboard and Apple Magic Mouse.
    Initial issue:
After using the Magic Mouse for a few months I noticed a significant performance issue with the mouse when the internal hard drive would spin up for large data transfers, Time Machine backups, etc.  I spoke with Apple Care and tried a number of things, tried switching the wireless network, all with no sign of a fix in the future.  I paired the mouse with other computers and could never re-create the issue.  I also paired other Bluetooth mice with the laptop and could not re-create the issue.  After doing further research I found a number of people on-line that started to use an external Bluetooth adapter which would bypass the internal one.  After purchasing one from Amazon, the results were immediately superior.  I had plugged the adapter into the underside of my Apple wired keyboard and performance was as expected.
However, this has led to issue number 2:
My MacBook Pro will travel with me often therefore requiring me to unplug it from my "desktop" setup which is it plugged into a Thunderbolt Display, and the display has all of the peripheral plugged in including the wired keyboard with the external Bluetooth dongle plugged into it.  When I have had my computer away form the set up for a few hours/days and then come back to plug it in, all external devices work immediately with the exception of the magic mouse.  It will sometimes work fairly quickly, within a minute of plugging into the Thunderbolt display, and sometimes I am unable to make it work at all unless I restart the machine.  This issue has happened with and without the Thuderbolt display.  Any assistance is greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

Never got a green light.. does that mean no light at all.. or is it flashing amber??
The series 1 particularly but it happens in series 2 and 3 the TC power supply breaks. Then if you power down and turn it on again it is dead. No light at all. The power supply was on the edge and after powering off does not have the ability to supply start current to the TC so shuts down.. If you plug in after a while the light my flash briefly and go out.. it will not happen again until you wait a few hours for the caps to discharge.
If you have Apple Care on a computer and the TC is less than 3years old Apple will replace it.. otherwise you are joining a large and ever growing multitude of dead TC owners.

  • Bluetooth Adapter can't be found

I have a kensington BT adaptor which seems to be recognized just fine by WinXP, however I was looking at the Simple BT Server.vi and noticed that it wouldn't work. It gave me this error, "LabVIEW: The network function is not supported by the system." I tried to get it even simpler by copying and pasting the portion of code that should read the devices address and name, but that won't even work. Does anyone have any clue why it isnt connecting? When I tried an ipconfig in DOS, the BT adapter registers as Media Disconnected. I am sure that I enabled all the services, so I don't think that is a problem.

Okay, I found a way to get it to work. Kinda cumbersome, but in the end, it should work.
This is completely based on the fact that Labview will only work with the Windows Native
    Bluetooth drivers.
You'll need Windows Service Pack 2
First be sure to not install the drivers off the CD for the Bluetooth card. If you have, go back and uninstall it.
Plug in your Kensington USB Bluetooth Dongle. You may either cancel the installation or choose to go with the installation, but do not install the drivers off the CD.
Go into Device Manager and look under 'Other Devices.'
Select it and go to 'Details', you will see something like this there:
    USB\VID_0db0&PID_697A\5&E831D1A&0&2
If there is an option called "Hardware Ids", select this option. In the area below will appear that devices Hardware ID or PnPID. You need to copy one of those strings EXACTLY from that area, into the bth.inf file.
This part here - 'USB\VID_0db0&PID_697A' - is your Plug and Play Identification (PnPID).
You will need to locate your Bluetooth inf file: %windir%\inf\bth.inf
Opened it in notepad, read through on about line 60, under one of the device sections, and add your USB adapters PnPID like so:
Kensington USB Bluetooth Adapter= BthUsb, USB\Vid_0db0&Pid_697A
You'll see others listed there, follow their format.
Save the file, and then delete the "USB Device" from device manager, and un-plug, and re-plug the Bluetooth adapter into your computer system. When prompted, let Windows search for a device driver, and it should pick up the adapter, and install the correct drivers for it. Also, there should now be an icon in the control panel for Bluetooth configuration.

  • MSI Bluetooth Adapter drivers

    Hello there,
I've got the MSI Bluetooth USB dongle adapter. I had some trouble to get it working, I have a question regarding the latest 1.3.2.7 drivers.
After rebooting the WinXP and after logging in, usually the BTTray.exe locks up, about in 3 cases of 10. The WXP has all the latest patches installed. I tried the dongle at other computers, my friends have the same dongle, and they have trouble with WXP as well  :(
When will be available new drivers working without any trouble?
    igorage

I have the Bluetooth module and I can communicate with my laptop using it, but when I try to connect to the Microsoft mouse or keyboard it says that I should plug in the transreciever, so I think that there is some problem with the drivers, because the MSI bluetooth is under USB devices in the Device Manager and the Microsoft Bluetooth transreciever under BlueTooth Radios

  • Nokia HDW - 3 with Silicon Wave Bluetooth Adapter ...

    Hi,
    I have the following configuration:
    Nokia HDW - 3
    Silicon Wave Bluetooth Adapter
    Windows XP Pro SP3.
Many years ago I was able to get this headset working with another Bluetooth Dongle we had bought at the time.
Since then I have bought the Silicon Wave Bluetooth Adapter and not been able to get my bluetooth headset to work with the adapter and my PC. All three are working seperately, I know this because I've run numerous tests but they are not playing well together.
Is there something I am missing? Maybe there's some additional software out there I am not aware of that I can use to get Skype working with the hardware I have mentioned?
    Thanks,
    James

    I figured it out...
On your Wave III remote, press "Aux" until "Bluetooth" appears, then hold down the presets "5" button until "Discoverable" appears. Open your mac's bluetooth in system preferences and it should show up and pair. It worked perfectly for me.
