Bluetooth adapter

Hey guys, please tell me if  my Lenovo ThinkPad T520 product id 4243-X03 has a Bluetooth adapter.  Thanks a lot.

Hi,
Lenovo support site doesn't mention BT adapter for the laptop model you've provided:
4243-X03 (based on 4243-FH2): i7-2630QM(2GHz),4GB RAM,320GB 7200rpm HD,15.6in 1366x768 LCD,NVIDIA NVS 4200M 1GB,CDRW/DVDRW,Intel 802.11agn wireless,WWAN option,1Gb Ethernet,UltraNav,Secure Chip,6c Li-Ion,Win7 Pro 32
Is it refurbished laptop?
But there is a chance of some specification inaccuracy. So, to ensure whether BT adapter has been preinstalled at the factory check out laptop specification (parts list) by its serial number:

  • Need suggestion for USB Bluetooth Adapter for HP Z230 Workstation

I've just purchased an HP Z230 Workstation, with an I7 processor.  I need to equip it with Bluetooth capability so that I can connect the computer to an old Palm Tungsten T2.
There are gobs of USB 4.0 Bluetooth adapters / dongles on the market, but reading buyer's comments, they all seem to have some type of problem with compatibility or installation issues on something.
Does anyone have a suggestion for a USB Bluetooth adapter that has worked well with the Z230?
Thanks in advance for any help.

  • Satellite A500-011 PSAR0C-01100D - internal Bluetooth adapter

I have Satellite A500-011 PSAR0C-01100D, I'm looking for an internal Bluetooth PCI adapter that slides in, on the side of the laptop into the pci card slot. without opening the computer)
Can someone help me find the part number ?
I remember seeing it in the toshiba site,a while back, but not there anymore, can't find it. I would like to order one.
i have an external USB Bluetooth adapter but it's a bit flaky and it sticks out and gets caught in the bag etc.
There is a internal module available but I don't want to open up the case and damage it.
    thanks

*Replacing Wireless Card with WiFi & BT Combination Card.*
Hopefully it will be compatible with the computer. Make sure that it is half PCI-e size.
Example of what it should look like: http://www.compactpci-systems.com/products/id/?45200
First, the laptop should be placed bottom side up to expose the doors.
The centre most door that uses one screw to open should be the one to open.
When open, you should see the RAM exposed.
In addition to this, there is the wireless modem card.
Unscrew two 2.5x3 screws that secure the card.
    Remove from the slot.
Take the Wireless WiFi & BT combination card, and slip it into the slot.
    Secure with the two screws.
Close the lid, and secure with screw.
Install any necessary software and drivers. . .
    *For dedicated BT:*
For A500 models, you need a version 2.1 + EDR (antenna on mobile type) model for bluetooth.
This would involve removing the keyboard and acccessing the top of the motherboard; a more intriciate process.

  • Bluetooth adapter missing

After years of reliable service, my bluetooth adapter quit last night on my Mac Pro 5,1 (mid 2010) 12 core tower. I have been using Apple's wireless keyboard, magic mouse, magic trackpad, bluetooth keypad, and logitech wireless headset until I went to launch a Steam game and the mouse just quit moving. Of course I changed batteries, etc and finally found and tried my old wired keyboard and mouse.
When I go into System Information and look at the Bluetooth section under Hardware I have ?No information found" for the bluetooth adapter. Everything else looks like it should with no errors. The bluetooth status in the status bar is grayed out with a Not Available message.
So I am looking for an apple replacement part for the bluetooth adapter as I understand that EFI firmware updates require an integrated bluetooth adapter or you lose keybpard support for that process I would also like to know if anyone has tried other third-party bluetooth dongles or add-in cards with success.
Thanks for any advice you might have.

I'm back and working, I reset the NVRAM.
To do so, follow these simple steps:
    Power off the Mac Pro
On a wired keyboard press Command+P+R and hold them
    Power on the Mac Pro
While continuing to hold the COMMAND+P+R keys wait for the system to boot into the System Utilities screen. At that point all the wireless (bluetooth) devices were working so I restarted the Mac.
If anyone has any third-party bluetooth adapter suggestions I'd love to hear about them all the same.

    Hi adam,
I'm running 64bit Arch on a Studio 1557 with an integrated usb bluetooth adapter (BCM2046).
In 2011 I had the very same problem you describe and got it fixed. Let me explain:
The bluetooth adapter has 2 modes of operation: HID mode and HCI mode.
In HID mode, it presents itself as a keyboard/mouse input device (in your case 413c:815[8/7]).
This allows you to use e.g. a bluetooth mouse that has been paired earlier - even if your OS doesn't support bluetooth.
In HCI mode, the device presents itself as a regular bluetooth adapter which can be used by your bluetooth stack (e.g. bluez) - that's what we want.
The problem back in 2011 was, that my adapter would default to HID mode and to switch it to HCI mode I had to use the 'hid2hci' tool (now part of bluez-utils).
For some time now bluez ships a udev rule which takes care of switching modes so everything worked flawlessly.
A couple of weeks ago, however, the problem resurfaced and I haven't found a fix yet.
I noticed that the udev rule isn't triggered anymore and running hid2hci (/lib/udev/hid2hci) manually doesn't work either (gives an error saying 'unable to handle [devpath]').
The only way to use the bluetooth adapter in arch for me is to boot Windows inside a Virtual machine, attach the USB touchpad device (the HID proxy) and let Windows switch it to HCI mode.
This, however, only lasts until I reboot/resume from standby.
I believe this regression was caused by a package upgrade, since an older arch installation I had lying around still recogniced the adapter while an up-to-date installation wouldn't.
Unfortunately, said lecacy installation is now gone and downgrading arch to a point before the regression doesn't seem feasible.
Any suggestions are more than welcome!
    So long,
    rev

  • USB Bluetooth adapter stops working after 10.8.5 upgrade

For several months I've been using an IOGear USB Bluetooth adapter and a USB KVM to share my Magic Trackpad between a Mac Mini and a MBP, both machines happily running 10.8.4.
Tonight I upgraded my MBP to 10.8.5 and now Bluetooth is apparently disabled when I have the USB adapter plugged in:
Now I'm left with the unappealing decision of using my Trackpad with only my Mac Mini, my MBP, or constantly repairing it with either to share.
I've been shockingly happy with this little trick, but I guess it was too good to last. Anyone have any ideas why using a USB Bluetooth adapter would stop working? Maybe I need a different adapter now?

Thanks! That solved my problem. I just had to swap in my device id which was different than yours.
I converted my USB adapter's idProduct value from hexidecimal (0x2101) into decimal (8449) and added this configuration:

  • Epson RX595 and Jabra a320s Bluetooth adapter?

    Hi all,
Just a quick question. I have an RX595 currently connected to my Time Capsule, and seeing as it is giving me difficulty with a Vista laptop (printing multiple copies of same job) I was looking into other connectivity options that don't include having to connect it to a computer and networking it that way. I have a Jabra a320s BT USB adapter, and when I place it in the USB port of the printer, it allows me to set up all the options in the menu (recognizes it as a BT adapter), yet when I try to add it to my MBP, I'm able to see it as a printer but it won't pair properly (times out after asking for pairing code). Do I have to buy the Epson Bluetooth print adapter or is there any way to make my setup work?

I used my RX595 with a Belkin bluetooth adapter. It's a few years old. I can't find it right now or I'd give you the model number. Anyway, I can only print by transferring files to the RX595. This gives me practically no format control. It only uses however I set up memory card printing, paper size and whatnot, having nothing to do with computer settings. I could also only get a .jpg file to work. The printer might do .pdf files, but I don't think it'll do anything else through bluetooth.
I'm a little bitter about their "bluetooth compatible" not including a bluetooth adapter, being so limited, and their printer sharing simply not working. Support refused to help with any of this. To quote them: "Epson tests and supports a direct connection from the printer to the Host PC/MAC." Advertising unsupported features, this is my last Epson printer for at least 4-5 years.

Rocketfish makes one with digital but there are issues with it's range, Belkin and Harmon Kardon make them, but they're analog only. All of them are in the same $50.00 price range.
But the connectivity doesn't matter, you will not be able to tell the difference in audio fidelity between analog or digital using bluetooth.
Bluetooth simply doesn't have the bandwidth to carry any type of audio that needs a higher bandwidth digital connection. Digital Stereo maxes out at 1.41 Mbps, Bluetooth A2DP which is the best option for audio right now, maxes out at 768kbps.
There's a nice and consice article here that briefly goes over the technical details:
