Bluetooth and Leopard

Hi all!
I just upgraded my laptop to leopard and I have been trying to get my iphone connected to it via Bluetooth, but there seems to be a problem: I cannot connect between the two! It pairs and it says "paired" but it is not connected! Is this a leopard problem?
Thank you.
Emanuele

Hey
I just got the solution for the Bluetooth
So Now you can send any files to your computer through bluetooth..
here is the Solution:
1- On each Mac OS X 10.5-based Mac, from the Apple menu, choose System Preferences.
2- From the View menu, choose Sharing.
3- Check (click) the "On" box next to Bluetooth Sharing.
4- Close the Sharing preferences window.

  • Bluetooth and Leopard Screen Sharing

Is it possible to use the Screen Sharing feature in Leopard between a MBP and a Mac Mini using Bluetooth? The area where we will be using the two computers will be in a remote environment with no internet or cellphone service to connect with. The other option would be to simply use the airport express cards, but according to Apple Customer Support on the phone, they said that it could not be done; but I'm sure there is a way.....?

Bluetooth would be far too slow, even if it were possible, and only has a range of 10m or so.
Your best bet would be to run an ethernet cable between the two machines, perhaps via a router, and set up a local network.
However, if both computers are in the same location why do you need to use Screen Sharing?

  • JawBone and Leopard 10.5.3; how do you shut it off?

    Hi;
i have an original JawBone bluetooth headset for my iPhone. I am so happy that it now works with my MacBookPro as well! Last summer when i checked this out, Aliph stated it didn't work with Tiger.
Anyways, i've never used a bluetooth headset with my MacBook Pro. Got it working; the sound isn't as good as with the iPhone but it's ok.
Here's the problem: when i press the tiny button (not the noise cancel button), the headset no longer shuts off.
It seems i have to disconnect it via either the bluetooth setup or (hopefully) the bluetooth menu (just checked; the menu lets you toggle).
Am i doing something wrong or does the "off" button on the headset no longer work when paired with a MacBook Pro and Leopard 10.5.3?
    thanks
    Jim

You would have to purchase the new Software and install it.
You have Leopard. If you want Snow Leopard and your computer is compatible, then you would have to purchase and install Snow Leopard.

  • Am i the only one who has a RAZR2 V8 and Leopard?

Will I ever be able to use these two together? No compatible modem script, usb driver, and doesn't work with phone tools!

I have a RAZR2 V8 (T-Mobile) and Leopard and no luck connecting them with USB. We have a Win XP PC sitting around for when we have to do Windows things (most of the time it's turned off)--Windows Media Player 11 does a good job of getting music files onto the RAZR2.
So you can send files to Windows (I've used real hardware, probably emulation would work too) or go with an iPhone if you don't have the RAZR2 yet or can switch contract/phones without too much hassle/cost. I know neither of these is an appealing answer for most people, the cost either way is significant.
So far I don't know of any Mac programs to transfer files to cell phones--post suggestions if you have encountered any moderately priced shareware or freeware. I also haven't delved into the BlueTooth route, but I've heard that's really slow if it works.

  • Addressbook Bluetooth and iSync - Get numbers off phone to AB

    Greetings,
There were many topics on this after a search but I couldn't find an answer I could understand. Forgive me if I am a little slow.
I plan to buy the iPhone here in the next few days. My old Motorola RAZR V3 has bluetooth and works flawless by syncing AB with the phone by using iSync. However, none of the phone numbers from my phone (Which weren't in AB before) end up in my AB. Am I doing something wrong here?
I never used any type of sync before since I didn't need a media device but now I guess I do? Apparently iPhone has a new built in SIM card and I can't transfer my numbers if I don't do this?
Thanks.. Oh... What is really the difference between iSync and the Sync in addressbook? Everytime I click the bluetooth icon in AB it asks to pair then nothing happens?
    //Cheers

That happens if you've got your contacts stored on your SIM card in the RAZR. Transfer them to your phone, then they'll magically appear in address book. I've found as well that for some reason the bluetooth pairing in address book doesn't do much, iSync does though.

  • TS3048 Bluetooth and USB ports aren't working can't connect mouse or keyboard.

Bluetooth and USB ports aren't working, so am unable to use Imac past turning it on. There's no way to connect mouse or keyboard, it started right after a software update for Maverick (OS X bash Update 1.0 – OS X Mavericks), bluetooth symbol not showing in the task bar at all.

    Hi SBrwn,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
The symptom you're describing can be frustrating to troubleshoot as our options are limited. I do suggest resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) if you have not already. This step can help you regain use of USB and Bluetooth.
Follow these steps to reset the SMC on your iMac:
Resetting the SMC for Mac Pro, Intel-based iMac, Intel-based Mac mini, or Intel-based Xserve
Shut down the computer. [by holding down the power button]
    Unplug the computer's power cord.
    Wait fifteen seconds.
    Attach the computer's power cord.
Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.
You can find these steps and more information at this link:
Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    All the best,

  • IMac (Late 2006) Stalls with EFI 1.2 and Leopard

A few days ago, I installed both the iMac 1.2 EFI Firmware update and Leopard on my late 2006 20" iMac. Since then, I've seen random momentary stalls throughout the system.
It sometimes happens while scrolling a web page, displaying a sheet, opening a stack, browsing CoverFlow, and so on. I don't know how to intentionally recreate it, it just seems to happen. It often (always?) seems to coincide with some disk activity.
I don't remember this behavior on the same hardware in the past, so either it's something with the firmware update or Leopard. Has anyone seen anything else like this?
    Thanks in advance.

Some people reported various bugs after installing the firmware update. Shutting it off and turning it back was all that was needed to fix the bugs.

  • TS3280 How can i enable both paired bluetooth and ios keyboard input at the same time?

How can i enable both paired bluetooth and ios keyboard input at the same time?
This is needed for the app im working on. Need some user input via keypad as well as scanner input via a paired bluetooth scanner.

You probably should not be using a keyboard bluetooth profile for a scanner, I am not a developer for apple so do not know the location for you to find out the correct profile you should be using for an input device that is not a keyboard. Sorry,
I am sure if you navigate the apple developer site you will probaly finmd what you're looking for.

  • Short-sighted approach to Bluetooth and Wi-fi.

I've just bought an Ipad - which I think is a truly amazing bit of kit. However within 36 hours I've discovered some very basic shortcomings in the software design in respect to both Bluetooth and Wi-fi. I was so shocked at their absence that I ran these past the Apple Support team who confirmed my worst fears.
The Ipad Bluetooth will not work with my Blackberry 9000. The Blackberry pairs with the Ipad but the Ipad syncs with nothing. Given that Blackberries are probably the most used smartphone in the business community - this seems like a really serious oversight?
Wi-fi printing I'm told only works with Airprint 101 - but then is limited to a narrow range of HP printers. Why? I have an HP Photosmart 3310 which is wireless and can accept wireless connectivity from any Windows based PC. I did evetually find a messy solution to the problem which I'll detail because I'm sure there are clever enough people working at Apple who might just be able to fix it better!!
You need to create a directory in the Programs Directory called 'Airprint'. You then need to download the three files that Airprint 101 uses and locate these in the directory. As soon as you rum 'Airprint.exe' your Ipad will show you any printers that are attached through wi-fi. However you must keep the directory with the Airprint files open because as soon as you close it - the printers disappear.
I improved the situation slightly by creating a task in the Task Sceduler to run when the PC opens and which automatically runs the 'Airprint.exe' file. Now all I have to do is to ensure that my Windows PC is on befire I use my Ipad!!
There has to be a better way than this and I feel it detracts from the Ipad as a potentially super piece of kit.
Perhaps someone from Apple would like to look into this and give some feedbasck? Thanks.

No. It doesn't work with any cell phones.
The iPad Bluetooth works with only with headphones and keyboards.
Wi-fi printing I'm told only works with Airprint 101
Dunno what *AirPrint 101* is. AirPrint was incoporated into iOS 4.2.1
but then is limited to a narrow range of HP printers. Why?
Besause printer manufacturers have not updated their printer firmware to speak "AirPrint". It is up to them to make their printers compatible, not he other way around.

This has nothing to do with Apple. It's somebody hack to get iPads to print through a computer.
AirPrint does not talk through a computer.
It talks directly to the printer on the network.

  • Endnote X1 and Leopard

Has anyone tried using Endnote X1 and Leopard? I can't open any files ("the document blabla couldn't be opened"), nor can I create a new library ("Failed to create library").
Anyone any ideas if this is fixable?

Fixed the problem. Originally I had no problems keeping the Endnote files wherever I liked, however it now only works with the Endnote files in Users/Library. A bit weird, but I can live with it.

  • I have a dv4-2180us and I want to change out the wifi card for one w/ bluetooth and 5G

Product name dv4-2180US. My wifi card is intel wifi link 1000 BGB, and I'd like to switch it out to an intel 6230 that has both. Is it possible to modify the BIOS? I have upgraded my BIOS to the most recent 55454 hoping that would correct the problems with the keyboard...which it has not...but I'm far more interested in making full use of my network., Thanks.

I can tell you that you need to make sure the form factor is the same on the new as the existing one.
The bios really has no bearing on it. Its hardware thats compatible with hardware.
Parts like that are not readily available to swap from machine to machine. There are standards for which the card interfaces to the machine and thats why I mentioned the form factor of the card.
Physical dimensions are also to be noted, as some cards are larger than others with the same form factor.
You really have to do your homework and research to see what will work.
Your machine may already have a slot availble for a bluetooth board, or fingerprint reader as those are both viable options.
You are not likely going to get bluetooth and wireless n on the same card anyways. I would suggest looking for a dual band wireless n card and seeing if you have another slot to put a blutooth module into.
Another option is to get a type 2 cardslot module and just insert it when you need it. If your machine has this type of external cardslot it may be your cheapest option.

  • Can I run Tiger and Leopard on the same computer

    Hi folks.
I've been meaning to install Leopard for ages but have never got round to it (I bought the retail box when it first came out). I have upgraded my RAM to 2GB and my hard drive to 320GB with no problems.
My upgraded hard drive has been partitioned into 2 equal parts of 160GB. These appear on desktop as Mackintosh HD1 and HD2. HD1 is the disk with all my files, music, OS etc and HD2 is empty
I have 2 bootable clones of my present system - one is on a 160GB external and the other is the original 80GB HD that I replaced.
My question is this - can I install Leopard on to my 160GB external HD, then clone it on to the empty HD2. If I do this would I be able to run both Tiger and Leopard on the same Macbook?
Is there any problems with this plan? Would I be able to transfer between the 2 OS and how do I install Leopard on the external drive. Is it just a case of inserting the Leopard DVD and choose the external drive as the target?
    As usual thanks in advance

    # New Leopard in the internal, Legacy cloned Tiger in the external.
    # Split internal, one partition with Tiger, another with Leopard.
Leopard is backwardly compatible with older Macs, just make sure yours fulfills the minimum system requirements, both use the same filesystem format, so each can see the other. You can't run both at the same time, unless you purchase the server version of Leopard and run it virtualized. 99.9% of Firewire external HD's are bootable, some USB's are bootable but have to test first. You can choose which system to boot from by pressing the Option key at boot time, before the chime. Just make sure the external HDD is plugged in and turned on if that's where you want to boot from.
When I migrated my PBG4 from Panther to Tiger, got an external FW HDD, cloned Panther onto it, upgraded using Archive and Install, cleaned up, customized and tested it. When I was satisfied all was ok, cloned the original Panther onto another partition of the external HDD, wiped and tested for failure the internal HDD, then cloned the known good and tested Tiger into it. Only thing that died along the way was my old and ancient Photoshop v2.x, that refused to run on Tiger.
