Bluetooth audio device won't go away

Hi, I've got a problem that's driving me a little nuts. Hopefully someone can help.
I just upgraded to a MacBook Pro from a first gen Powermac G5 (1.6ghz), which is now functioning mainly for video playback hooked to my TV. I used to use a Logitech HS01 bluetooth headset as the microphone for iChat. I still do, but now it's paired with my MacBook Pro.
Here's the problem: I can't get rid of the headset on the G5, and it keeps trying to connect to it randomly, most consistently and annoyingly when I try to watch a DVD with DVD Player. This basically causes DVD Player to begin to load a movie but then hang with a spinning pinwheel while it tries to connect to the headset.
This had actually been going on for a week or two before I switched over to the MacBook, and I was thinking I might have a flakey superdrive since I would just get the spinning pinwheel until I force quit the app. I only just figured out what was going on just now since the headset is now paired with my laptop, and so when I launched DVD Player, it suddenly asked for the passkey to re-pair with the headset.
I've gone into the Bluetooth preference panel and removed the device, but it still shows up in the audio preference panel. The selected output device in the audio preferences is the optical digital out, and I selected the same in DVD Player's preferences. The behavior is consistent in two different user accounts on the machine.
Is there any way to get the computer to remove the headset from the list of audio devices?? Since the main purpose of the G5 now is for video and audio playback on my TV and stereo, it's largely useless while this keeps happening. I realize I could do a clean install of the OS, but I really want to avoid doing that.
I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Open iTunes.
From the Library pop-up menu, choose Books.
Click Audiobooks in the navigation bar.

  • Why does my computer keep trying to connect to a bluetooth audio device that doesn't exist?

    For some reason, whenever I have my bluetooth on to use my Magic Mouse, every six minutes or so I get an error saying that my bluetooth is having issues connecting to a bluetooth audio device. I do have a Bluetooth Audio device, but it stays at home and is only on when I am watching movies. This happens all the time, even when I am at work, and even when I tell it to stop using the device.

    Make sure the device isn't selected in the Sound preference pane.

  • Audio device won't work correctly

    I have a plug in called Real Guitar 2. It has always worked in the past but now it has vanished from my list of audio devices. It appears in my dock and It's in my applications folder. I can get it to play but when I record with it, it records all the other tracks!! It's driving me mad! Why are all the tracks bleeding into the track I'm recording on? The other strange thing is that I can't make the internal mic stop recording. I even used headphones and still the internal mic is recording!! (I also turned the monitor off) When I try to shut off the mic, the plug-in doesn't make a sound and cannot be recorded at all. What is going on? Has the company that makes the plug in turned it off? Why doesn't the computer recognize the plug-in as it always has in the past? I'm assuming that is the reason for the problem. How do I fix this? In general, why is the internal mic always ON, even when it's not being used? When I switch to "LINE IN", the plug in won't work. I'm baffled.

    It was a dumb mistake! After trying many options I finally realized that I was inadvertently trying to use the plug in as a "real instrument" instead of a "software instrument". It had been several months since I used it and I guess I forgot about those little details.

  • My iPad used to automatically connect to Bluetooth audio device, but now it has inexplicably stopped doing so.

    I have an iPad 2 and a Logitech Wireless Boombox. It used to be that on powering on the Boombox, the iPad would connect and make it the default audio device. Now, I have to go in to settings and connect explicitly. It's been like this for the past few days or so and I can't see what could have caused the change.
    It's not a major problem, but I'd like the old behaviour back and I find it disconcerting when unexplained things happen.

    Well, in case some future googler finds this thread, for some mysterious reason it is behaving as it did originally again. Still none the wiser as to why.

    You probably should not be using a keyboard bluetooth profile for a scanner, I am not a developer for apple so do not know the location for you to find out the correct profile you should be using for an input device that is not a keyboard. Sorry,

  • IOS 5 Streams Track/Artist Information to Bluetooth Audio Devices

    I own an iphone 4 with the IOS5 running, but when i sync it with my car via bluetooth i'm unable to see any of my song' tags, such as artist's info or album cover. And all of my song have such tags.

    I've noticed this lately as well, with my iPhone 4. I couldn't confidently pin it directly on any particular iOS update, but my iPhone used to automatically connect up via Bluetooth with my Prius's handsfree feature, and now it doesn't. I work with a CE-based device at my job, with Bluetooth capability, and I used to test out that feature by having it discover my iPhone. This no longer works either.
    What I have found (not really a solution, but it does work and may be a clue for Apple) is that if I simply go to the Settings app then the General -> Bluetooth screen and let it sit there, it will pair right up with my car within a few seconds. Bluetooth is always on, and always says "Now Discoverable" at the bottom of the settings screen.

    Is vehicle end designed to stream stereo and if so have you checked for an update to vehicle system ( 2010 is along time back in communications timeline)

    For an IBM LENOVO 320 with Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium Version download these drivers to a directory in a second partition to prevent this nightmare from happenning in the future.

    2) Intel HD GRAPHIC and HD Audio version

    Select your OS and and whether 32 or 64 bit. I recommend the .exe version as it works very smoothly. Uninstall HD AUDIO DEVICE or whatever it is called maybe "unknown device" with ac97 device ID "HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0662&SUBSYS_17AA3604&REV_1001." Afterwards install AC 97 HD Audio Driver.
    After install reboot and wait till computer completely starts.
    Now uninstall Intel HD Graphics or your graphics device. When you get the uninstall box open, select delete the driver software for this device and then OK. When prompted to reboot select NO and Immediately start the install of the Intel GMA driver. Which installs both the Graphics Adapter and the Intel HD Audio. Reboot when finished and all HD Audio devices will be functional (hopefully). You will now have these versions installed. As shown in device manager/device properties/Driver tab
    Now uninstall Realtek AC97 driver you first installed to delete annoying Red Lexmark/realtek icon in Notification area (If your computer shows it after reboot) and windows driver update will install a microsoft driver (shown below)that works without the stupid lexmark red icon. See below. You will now have these versions installed. As shown in device manager/device properties/Driver tab

  • 'Connection to Audio Device failed' - constant Bluetooth message

    I have a Blackberry Torch and keep getting the above message, despite there only being 3 paired devices, each of which works fine when on. The message repeats every 3-5 seconds whenever I'm in the house, but no other device can be found on search.
    Any ideas?

    To better assist you with this issue, what types of Bluetooth®  audio devices are you connected to? This message appears when you are out of range of the Bluetooth® device, you may want to disable your Bluetooth® when you are in your house this would stop the prompts from Bluetooth®.

  • Sony Ericsson Bluetooth HBH-PV770 can't be used as audio device in Lenovo T61

    I got my HBH-PV770 paired up with T61 as Hands-free Audio. But i can't find any bluetooth audio device in device management. This causes that HBH-PV770 can't be used in VOIP application.

    I've plugged the extension cord into the usb 1 port on my keyboard (apple = genious) instead of the usb 2 port on the side of my emac and it works PERFECTLY....
    Whilst this is odd, it works so i'm leaving this up incase anyone else has this problem

  • T61 Bluetooth Audio needs to be manually selected

    I am using a Motorola S805 headset with my T61.  They pair successfully and I have all necessary services activated.  However, in order to stream audio through the headset, I need to manually select the "bluetooth audio device" in the sounds/devices control panel.  Is there anyway to get around this?  Shouldn't the stream of audio be automatic?

    Welcome to the forums!
    There sure is a way to automate the streaming.
    1) Turn on the bluetooth radio (Fn-F5), once the radio's on, right-click the bluetooth icon in the taskbar and select "Bluetooth Configuration". (Alternate way is to turn on the bluetooth radio, open "My Bluetooth Places" on the desktop and select "Bluetooth Configuration" from the "Bluetooth" menu item).
    2) Click the "Local Services" tab, select "Audio Gateway" (double-click to open the properties) and check the box "Startup Automatically".
    Next time you turn on the bluetooth radio and your headset, they should pair and the headset should automatically be connected.
    That should do the trick.
