Bluetooth Compatibility on BMW 750Li

I am having problems with my new BlackBerry 9630 and the bluetooth connection in my BMW 750Li 2010. It connects just fine however it often disconnects at random. I discovered on BMW's website that the Pearl is currently the only support BB for bluetooth connections, but is there anything at all that I can do to fix the disconnecting problems?

Blackberry has misrepresented the existence of the problem to many consumers. They initially claimed there was no problem with BMW. They have instructed technicians to deny the existence of the problem> One "technician" suggested it was BMW's fault and suggested that the Bluetooth not be used. Even went so far as to suggest that the speakerphone was a good alternative. After over two hours of wrangling, they finally admitted it was a software glitch on their end and that they had no solution. But, they were working on it.
The problem is their software had glitches and they don;t ant to admit it. Blackberry;s use of the phrase "Customer Service" is an oxymoron.
The solution for the problem is obvious, if not so simple - Motorola and Apple both have Customer Service lines that actually tell the truth about their problems and know the equipment. Buy an I-Phone or Droid.  Or you could follow one of the technician's ideas, trade in your BMW.

It is not.  You'll need to purchase an add-on such as the one below to add bluetooth functionality.

  • IOS8 Bluetooth broken for BMW and VW factory handsfree

Since upgrading to IOS8, both iPhone 5C and iPhone 4s have issues in both BMW and VW handsfree, that worked perfectly under IOS 7.x - other iPhone 5c works fine under IOS7.
Phones connect and sync phone books, then drops connection.  Attempt to make or receive call - no audio, must revert to handset or speaker mode.
Doesn't seem to be car manufacturer specific based on posts, Apple may need to review if indeed IOS8 has broken something in the BT specs.
I think I will revert to IOS7 if possible, safety is my concern for the family.

The way I fixed my issue -
Backup your iphone to your PC/Desktop/Laptop.
Reset your iphone to Factory Defaults   (General - Reset - Erase All Content & Settings).
This will bring you back to the "Welcome" screen.
Tap through all the welcome screens - but when it asks you if you want to restore your phone or setup as a new user.    Choose the option to setup as a new user (DO NOT restore from your icloud backup).
This will leave you with a brand new setup of your iphone with no data or apps (except the default apps).
Then go out to your car and pair it with your car and test.    It should work fine.
then go back in the house and hookup the iphone to your PC/Desktop/Laptop using the USB cable and you should be able to see the apps that were loaded and click on them to reinstall them back to the phone and then add your contacts, calendar, etc.
The bluetooth connectivity was very important to me to get working, even if I had to manually type my contacts back into my phone.   I use Exchange for my email so my contacts, appointments, etc loaded the minute I added my mail account back to the phone.
    Good luck.
This is what I found worked for me.    Hope it helps.
Worst case - if it doesnt work - wipe the phone to factory defaults again and then restore from your last icloud backup.

  • IOS 8 not working with bluetooth controls in BMW

Just upgraded to IOS 8 and now most of the interface functions with BMW iDrive stopped working.  I am able to manually make and receive calls via the car and manually play bluetooth audio, but no other controls work.  I cannot dial the phone, select playlists, access contacts.  I have already reset all system settings on the phone, re-paired the phone with the car in every conceivable combination, etc. and still no luck.  Do I have to revert back to IOS 7 which worked fine and wait for Apple to fix this problem?  I called BMW and they said it is was an Apple problem.  This is the response I expected from them but I believe they are correct because IOS 8 seems to be causing similar problems in other vehicles as well (I have seen Audi and Ford and a few others).  Anyone found a solution to this.  Apple, are you listening??

I confirm the issue, in my case I cannot make and receive calls thru the idrive since I've upgraded to IOS, I had hopes in the newest upgrade IOS 8.0.2 but the problem remains. Really disappointing. Please Apple take action soonest.

  • Bluetooth connection to BMW 5 series since update to 10.3.1.1565

Since i updated my Z10 to 10.3.1.1565 the bluetooth-connection to my BMW 530d GT (Modell 2013/2014) failed.
The Z10 recognises the car bluetooth system, but the connection fails. The infoscreen in the BMW asks for OK to a ID number on the screen. But the Z10 does not have a popup with this number.
Before the update i had a good connection and the activation process worked.
It whoud be nice if somebody can help, because i need a phone connection in the car.
    Thanks in advance

    Hello,
BB has released 3 updates in the last couple of weeks, so I recommend you update to the very most recent, and do so via AutoLoader. Otherwise, fall back (also via AutoLoader) to the version that was functional for you (and be sure to turn OFF automatic updates).
    Good luck!

  • HT4623 Cannot Pair iPhone 5 bluetooth to 06 BMW iDrive

    Hi,
I am having a problem connecting my iPhone 5 to my 06 BMW iDrive. I have successfully connected my friends iPhone 4S to my iDrive, but when i try to connect my iPhone5 it fails after i have entered the passcode into the iDrive. I am using the exact same approach that i used when connecting the 4S so it's not my 'technique' that's the issue and neither the iDrive as it supports the 4S's bluetooth 4.0. Has anyone else had this issue and fixed it? Both devices were running iOS 6.1.
    Thanks
    Dean

I had a similar problem, but with an iPad.  Nearly posted a question, but then after I asked Bluetooth to remove the device I was trying to pair it to, I tried again!  And it worked.  So try the following:
Close, unplug the devices for 10 seconds
In Bluetooth, ask to remove the device you were trying to pair to
Then try to pair again and cross your fingers!

  • Iphone 5 bluetooth compatibility

The iphone 5 isn't compatible with the bluetooth in my 2011 car that uses Uconnect, won't recognize the device, worked fine with the iphone 4.  Called VW and Apple, they told me to call Uconnect, Uconnect says they're waiting for apple to fix this problem.   I can get music thru the mp3 jack but the bluetooth part won't work at all.  Anyone have any insight?

    Hi Sdani93,
Please check with Apple support whether the Sony MEX-BT3900U Audio system comes under the list of compatible devices supported by iOS 6 operating system. Sony has already made their devices available to Apple for checking their compatibility.

  • Cannot pair Bluetooth with 2008 BMW - 'Uncaught exception: java.lang.Classcast Exception' message

I have been trying to pair my 8100 with my new 2008 model BMW 135i built in car kit using Bluetooth set up. The phone finds the car kit and the two appear to pair (confirmation numbers entered etc) but then the Smartphone screen freezes and the following error message appears 'Uncaught exception: java.lang.Classcast Exception'. The phone cannot then receive or make calls (won't even turn off until battery removed). Have been through the whole process several times. The car will pair with other phones and my 8100 will pair OK with other devices. Can anyone help?
    Thanks, Paul.

I have got aorund the problem by disabling address book transfer. I can now receive calls and make outgoing calls by either dialling on the blackberry itself or using the BMW idrive controller. It is better than nothing and my main use anyway is for incoming calls while driving. The whole idea of the integrated system was to be able to scroll through the address book on the steering wheel buttons and view the address book entries on the satnav screen.
I have had similar problems in the past with an integrated system in a Porsche. The Blackberry never establised bluetooth contact with that system at all.

  • Bluetooth connection to BMW 5 series

I cannot get my new Q10 to hold the pairing with my BMW 5 series for more than about 5 seconds.  Is there a fix for this, please?

Yes change your car to an Audi.
What OS are you using as I believe there were some earlier OS problems with Bluetooth?

  • Occasional loss of bluetooth connection with BMW or will not sync sometimes

there have been numerous times that my iphone either would lose it's bluetooth connection or will not sync with my bmw's bluetooth system. it has been necessary to turn off my iphone and turn it back on, then the bluetooth link syncs. does anyone know if this is a glitch in the iphone awaiting an update

I'm having the same problem except, I am using the iPhone and the new Bluetake bluetooth headset. Both the phone by itself and the headset by itself are fabulous however, I continue to lose the sinc between the two. Is anyone else having this problem and can help?

    @chasr635
Do you mean that you can "pair" but not connect"?
Is Remote SIM mode (RSAP) = ON?

  • Bluetooth Compatibility check before buying Nokia

If you are thinking of buying a Nokia and want it so you can use the Bluetooth in your car first check your radio BT.
If its a parrot (the bluetooth option in it) then check this page for compatibility first.
     http://www.parrot.com/uk/support/onlinehelpguides/parrot-rki8400/compatibility/?idproduct=59&idbrand...
I can't guarantee it will still work (parrot/nokia pairing is not reliable) but it's a start.

  • Bluetooth compatibility with Windows on iMac?

My wireless Apple keyboard and Mighty Mouse work great under Tiger OS. When I first went into Windows, I plugged in the wired keyboard and mouse and registered both Bluetooth devices under Windows, and they worked fine. The wired items went back to storage.
When I close Windows, go to Tiger, everything still works fine but when I go back to Windows the wireless devices have lost their registration. I've re-set them up several times but it happens every time. Anyone have a suggested way to register the bluetooth devices with Windows so they will stay registered?
    Thanks!

Currently, the Apple Bluetooth Radio does not work well in Windows. There is just some sort of incompatibility which keeps Windows from keeping Apple (or Microsoft, for that matter) Bluetooth devices registered in Windows. The same is true if you use Microsoft Bluetooth devices in OS X.
I have the same problems using my Microsoft Bluetooth Desktop set with my Intel iMac in Windows or OS X.
The Apple hardware and software just is not very compatible with Windows, nor is the Windows hardware very compatible with its own software or with OS X.
I guess we will just have to wait until both Microsoft and Apple improve cross-platform compatibility.
Sorry, but I have no answer for you other than that. They just don't work as they should right now.
