Bluetooth COMPLETELY dissapeared

After updating to Lion (10.7), I tried going into bootcamp, but found out bluetooth was gone completely.  I mangaed with a wired keyboard alone to look in device manager, control panel, Ncpa.cpl (all internet devices e.g. wifi, ethernet, bluetooth), and the task bar, and bluetooth is nowhere to be found.  I also tried startup repair and system restore, in addition to directory services repair mode.  Does anybody have an idea of what's going on?

@jose and everyone else that wants the controller to work properly over Bluetooth, make sure you have a Bluetooth dongle ( preferably http://www.gameaccy.com/bluetooth-dongle-for-motioninjoy because its the most compatible model, and MiJ is built based on it) in the computer (and that the drivers for the dongle itself are installed) and go into the driver manager (in DS3 tool/motioninjoy) and select all the devices on the list (it only lists external devices so USB and Bluetooth are the only ones that should be on there) and click load driver. Go to BluetoothPair and click pair now and Have paired to: should get assigned a MAC address for the controller you're using.  Now unplug the controller and reconnect it. Windows should install the MiJ drivers for your controller.  When the updates are completed, restart your computer.  While it's booting up, hold F8 at the Black screen wi the blinking underscore and arrow your way up or down to Disable Driver Signature enforcement (allows MiJ to install completely).  After you login, open DS3 tool and go to Bluetooth pair again and click pair now (the drivers were modified so the MAC address was as well). Go to profiles, make sure it says Dualshock 3 Bluetooth and click enable, then click vibration test to confirm enable was clicked and processed.  Unplug your controller.  Now your regular Bluetooth (mouse and whatnot) and your controller (from the dongle) should be working. I kinda forgot the whole process so I did the whole thing again while making this post and everything works as said above (I'm playing Saints Row 3, and can navigate the menus with both my mouse/keyboard and the controller simultaneously. They also both work in game. Hope this helps everyone! Remember, if you don't want to risk having to follow my original solution (overriding your default BT), you shouldn't really worry in the first place. Like I said, if you do mess up just follow my original fix for the a BT and try again (or not if you prefer.  Hope this works!

  • Bluetooth completely lost on both keyboard and mouse

I have an Apple wireless keyboard and MacMice The Mouse BT, used with an AL15 PowerBook, OS 10.4.6. Recently both devices became inaccessible. I have tried re-setting up the devices, changing batteries in them, turning BT off and on, restarting PB etc.
Whenever I try to set them up, it says: No keyboard has been found, make sure your keyboard is discoverable.
When I press the connect button on the mouse, it goes to the next screen, but then says pairing was unsuccessful, make sure mouse is turned on on discoverable.
I do have discoverable checked in BT prefs.

    Hi,
Have you guys had Virtual PC installed?
I had similar experience when I tried to install the Virtual PC a couple months (perhaps, half a year) ago (so my system might be 4.6 or 4.5 then). After the installation on my PowerBook G4 (1.5 GHz), I found that my bluetooth had comletely gone! I could no longer connect to my wireless macmouse (well, I don't have a wireless keyboard). So, I decided to remove the Virtual PC, and reclaimed my bluetooth and mouse connection back.
A few days ago, I decided to give the Virtual PC another try since I need to run some window-specific programs. This time, I had my wireless mouse connected through my installation (last time, I did not). But, after the restart, I still lost my mouse connection. Though I can see the bluetooth is still on my system, I have no way to get my mouse paired again! I had since tried searching online to see if anyone had similar problems and hopefully any fixes, but got none so far.
Nevertheless, I got lucky today. I tried connecting my wireless mouse with my wife's MacBook, and it works great, so it's not a fault mouse or battery. Then, I tried it on my PB G4, and it just came back!
Well, the above is my experience. May not be of any help to you guys. But, if you happened to have Virtual PC on your mac, you may try my steps, i.e.:
    1. Completely remove it to see if you can get your bluetooth back.
    2. Make sure your wireless connections are on when you install the Virtual PC, and later to see if the BT is still there after restart.
    3. If yes, try to find an Intel-based mac to get your wireless devices connected. If the pairing is successful, you may have chance to get them back on your "old" mac.
    Good Luck,
    JC

  • Bluetooth completely not working on Yosemite

    Hi,
I did a clean install of Yosemite on my MacBook Pro (Mid 2012). Before that I had an upgraded (from Mavericks) version of Yosemite and everything worked well.
Now bluetooth is completely not working - it doesn't see any devices. I tried reseting PRAM and SMC but it didn't help. Have you got any clues?
    Cheers

Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • How do I completely disable Bluetooth Sharing without disabling bluetooth completely on Mac OS 10.7.2?

I'm trying to secure my Mac Pro that is running 10.7.2 and the only thing left that I cannot get figured out is how to completely disable Bluetooth Sharing without turning off Bluetooth altogether.  Initially I thought that it was blocked in System Preferences -> Sharing unless you had an admin password, but it's the only option that is available no matter if the user is standard or admin.  Is there any way to completely disable this box from toggling on or off?

Hi Adam, I see there are no replies to ur question. I have the same problem. I can turn bluetooth sharing on or off without my admin password. Please reply if you have found a solution. thank you!

  • B320 Bluetooth Adapter dissapeared!

    Hi there!
I had a B320 for a month, and was wondering how to turn the bluetooth adapter off. I tried changing settings on the control panel and after some attempts, I succesfully disabled it.
Couple of days later, I tried to enable it back and it seems to have vanished!
I´ve been reinstalling controllers, turning to Windows restoring points, etc. but the problem is it seems I somehow turned
the adapter off and I can´t seem to find any trace of it to try and turn it back on.
I even entered the computer´s setup to see if it was disabled but to no avail.
    Any ideas?

  • Lenovo G50-45 Wireless has dissapeared completely

I have a Lenovo G50-45 that when i bought it worked perfectly. Here recently it seems the wireless adapter has magically vanished and i say that because ive done everything i know to do and ive searched google everywhere but no one seems to have the same issue i do except one person and he was running linux and was able to resolve his issue. I on the other hand havent been able to.This laptop has a bluetooth/wireless card combo. The card handles both connections. The laptop itself has a AMD 8 processor, 4GB ram 1TB HDD running windows 8.1Oneday the laptop just wouldnt connect to wifi. I work on computers alot, and short of replacing the card itself i havent found the solution on my own.The wireless adapter does not show up in network sharing when you click change adapter settings. Only the LAN and bluetooth connections are there. I checked in device manager and there is no missing or improperly installed hardware. Opened the network connections in Device manager and there is no wireless adapter, no WLAN, no wireless anything avaliable there.I have done the following:I uninstalled and reinstalled the bluetooh driver. updated the bluetooh driver.  physically removed the card, started the laptop (the bluetooth connection dissapeared like i expected, turned off the laptop and reinstalled the card and restarted, the bluetooth connection reappeared but not the wireless.I checked in the BIOS. Wireless is enabled. I updated the BIOS. Restored defaults. Still no wireless card.I thought maybe there was an issue within windows 8.1I partitioned the HDD and set off 100GB and installed Windows 7. I didnt think id be able to install the card but i wanted to see if windows 7 detected the hardware. It actually installed the bluetooth card by itself and properly, with an out of date driver im sure but it recognized it.But it did not find the wireless adapter. No wireless card in Device manager in windows 8.1 or a fresh install of windows 7.I ignored that the card wasnt there, and i went to the lenovo site and downloaded the proper up to date drivers. installed them on windows 7 and 8.1. I get the following error message "No appropriate driver to be installed"Now i have a feeling the card itself is to blame. Maybe i have that one card that just wasnt gonna make it. Ive never had a wireless card burn out on me ever but i suppose it is possible. But before i go buying parts, even though its cheap i dont have much money. And the principle of it all, if the card works why should i buy another one? right? its a disgrace to say i work on these devices and be beaten by one of them.  So has anyone had a similar issue? Something i havent yet tried?I would just throw in a wireless adapter i have here but the port on the motherboard is different than what i see in most laptops, i assume because its both wireless and bluetooth. I only have wireless cards laying around, non of them fit properly so i will need to buy a replacement to test. But if anyone can help me out, id appreciate it.

    Hi Kris_hm,
    Welcome to Lenovo Communtiy Forums!
Normal Troubleshooting path on this cases includes
    Power Cycle of the system
Checking of WLAN in BIOS if Enabled (Includes resetting BIOS to defaults)
WLAN card reseating (Removing WLAN card and reconnecting the WLAN again) Includes cleaning of the ports and connectors.
If these are all met - You might need to replace the WLAN card,
The WLAN Card socket supports M.2 / Ngff Connection type
Make sure you get a replacement card that is on this Maintenance Manual WLAN list and has an FRU tag.
This is to avoid getting whitelist problem

  • Bluetooth dissapeared

Bluetooth has dissapeared from my mac. It's icon is no longer in the menu bar and no longer in system preferences. It seems like it never existed on this computer. I already tried deleting the file com.apple.bluetooth.plist from preferences and after restarting nothing changed and new file was not created on the preferences folder as it was supposed to.
Also tried resseting the PRAM but it didn't change anything.
Can anyone please heeeeelllp. Any other suggestions as to where I can find my lost bluetooth???

  • Bluetooth driver won't work on my Satellite Pro 6100

    Hello
My Bluetooth stopped working after some updates (I forget what they were!). I have attempted many times to reinstall the BT driver from Toshiba but it just "stops" part of the way through the install - I have left it for well over 30 minutes at this point.
I have looked in the system/hardware/other devices and there is something called SiW, I'm assuming this is the BT device as I can't find anything labelled Bluetooth. I should point out that Bluetooth did work before and nothing has been removed from the computer!
Anybody any ideas/solutions to this problem?
    Thanks
    Andrew

    Hi
Its not easy to say what why you cannot install Bluetooth driver.
I would recommend to reinstall the Toshiba Bluetooth completely form the OS.
Be sure that MS Bluetooth was also removed
Then reboot the unit and try to install the Toshiba Bluetooth stack again.

  • Play count has dissapeared from some songs?

Basically, I've found that recently the play count from some songs on my itunes has completely dissapeared, even though itunes still shows the date that the song was last played. So in summary my itunes shows when I last played some songs but not how many times I've listened to it, surely they should be on at least 1.
Has anyone had this problem before? Does anybody know how to fix it?
    Cheers.
P.S - I've inserted a print screen below to show what I mean. (As you can see on the right, these songs have the data of when they were last played, but not the play count)

I don't know what the deal is. I am still running iTunes 7.1 due to not being able to burn CDs in later versions.
Sometimes I see a "last played" date that is in the future. I kid you not.

  • Bluetooth toggle in Windows 8.1

    Hi everyone,
I recently installed Windows 8.1 to my Probook 4530s. Installed all the necessary drivers and everything but the Bluetooth works as it should. The problem is, if I turn Bluetooth off via the Windows 8 control panel, it disappears completely. The Windows 8 toggle virtually disables the Bluetooth completely and the only way thus far I've seen to turn it back on is via the device manager. When disabled, the Bluetooth section of the control panel disappears completely and the icon vanishes from the notification area. Is this intended behaviour? If not how do I fix this.
I've installed the driver via HP's site. Oddly enough, when installing the driver it unpacks and gives no further feedback. The Bluetooth icon simply appears in the taskbar.

    Hi:
If your model uses a Ralink wireless card, see if installing this bluetooth driver works.

  • Did a full sync today, before a restore to fix Bluetooth...

I did a full sync today. I read that after the 2.02 update, bluetooth completely quits working. It did. So, I did a full sync, and then did a restore, to original, and then tried to do a restore from my latest backup, which I made today, but somehow all of my 4 backups, all different months, still point to August of 08. I have once again lost all of my phone numbers, SMS, music. I've tried restoring a few times, but no matter which one I use, it all goes back to 08/08/08. It's the 2nd time I've lost everything, and I really need to know where, if possible, some temp folder holds my backup from 2:30pm today. Because the 4 that are in my /local settings/ folder obviously are corrupt, and I'd like to know what I can do here...

Maybe I'm not asking correctly. How about this. When updating from 2.1 to 2.2, I know that iTunes makes a backup of the iPhone. Where can I find this backup file to restore to? I'm not looking to find an old 'sync', but rather looking for a full backup file. I really can't seem to find it, and my sync's are all screwed. The recent sync's when restored, all restore data from 08/08. I have absolutely nothing on my phone after august 8. All I do have currently, are voicemails...and that's it. No email, contacts, recent calls, music, photos (I do have all of my photos backed up though). Where can I find a "backup" instead of a "restore/sync"?

  • Photoshop dissapears while in use

For the past couple of days I've had this continuing problem with photoshop CS4. It opens correctly, works just fine for about 4 to 5 minutes, then without warning, and I reiterate without any warning from my computer, it completely dissapears and closes.  I then have to reopen it again, and at that point it works for the same amount of time, then dissapears.  Usually a shut down of my computer for about 30 minutes will have it working again for a day or so.  Then, it's back to normal.  The file I'm working with is small and at one point I didn't do any work and it still shutdown.  Anybody have any remedies for this problem?  I already uninstalled and reinstalled and that was to no avail.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Steve

I Googled your issue but most replies were for other software and not much about Adobe. The replies for adobe found resource conflict, spyware eating resources, faulty ram moduals and torrent sites. I am pretty much out of ideas.
You can schedule a RAM check before the OS starts to see if any modual shows defective. Also run a virus check in safe mode if you can or run another type of free online virus check. There are several out there.
Heat build up? Card cooling fan free to spin? Dust build up?
    Maybe someone will chime in.

  • After an update of Numbers all my files dissapeared.

I recently purchased Numbers for my Ipad 2 and created numerous spreadsheets which have now completely dissapeared.  I believe there was an update on Numbers that may have caused this to happen.  Has anyone had this happen before, can I retrieve the files somehow and should I never use this spreadsheet program again.

  • Library has dissapeared

When I tried to open my iTunes I got a corrupted file message. So I closed all my applications and restarted my computer. Unfortunately when I reopened iTunes, my library has completely dissapeared. I've already tried http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301895 and it hasn't helped since I can't seem to find a file called "iTunes Library YYYY-MM-DD".
I'd appreciate any help. It took me a long time to compile this library and I did a lot of editing within it, and I'd like to regain it so it stays synced with my iPod (is there a way to "reverse sync" my iTunes from my iPod?).
    Much thanks,
    Nick

is there a way to "reverse sync" my iTunes from my iPod?
Are the songs still on your iPod right now? If so, you can download www.YamiPod.com and select the songs from individual playlists, make a folder on your computer called that particular playlist, and send the songs from the playlist on the iPod TO the named folder on your computer ("Reverse Sync"). Then you can re-import your music back into the iTunes library from the folders you have created, granted the songs are going back into the SAME iTunes account that was the original account when the songs were purchased AND if the music isn't protected by digital rights (if you listened the songs on the iPod before, they were either purchased or not protected by digital rights).
I am actually doing this as we speak, backing up the music from my own iPod, "just in case" something goes haywire somehow, someway!
