Bluetooth connection dropouts, Mouse-MacMini

I have been experiencing random connection dropouts between my Apple wireless mouse and my mid 2010 MacMini.  Connection dropouts typically last only a few seconds.  Battery swapouts and replacements seem to have no effect.  Anyone have an idea on how to isolate the problem to either the mouse, or the Mini?  I guess i could try the mouse on my MBP and/or G5 PowerMac.  I'm wondering  if this might be a fairly common problem?

Well, after posting this question, i stumbled into the right discussion/community area, and found that the problem is nothing new.  One suggestion was to turn off Airport.  I turned Airport off, and now the mouse seems to be perfectly stable, smooth, and wonderful, as it was before i got the MacMini.

  • I have macair bought 2009. Bluetooth connect with mouse and keypad not working. It used to work. Batteries are good. Green light flashes on each device, but no connection. Any suggestions to help me here? Thanks.

    Dear Community,
I have a macbook air bought new in 2009. Since 2011 I only use it occasionally as I  now mainly use my iMac. The mouse and keyboard that came with the macbook air used to work fine with bluetooth connection to the macbookair, but now they don't. The batteries are good. The green light flashes showing it is seeking other bluetooth device to connect to. But they wont connect to my macbookair. What could the problem be? Your help would be much appreciated.

Thanks for that. Yes I checked that already and BT enabled. Yes, external keyboard. But I just moved the computer to different part of room and bingo the devices paired and connected. So problem now solved. Thanks for offering your help.

  • How do I fix bluetooth connection between mouse and keyboard with iMac. iPhone won't connect to bluetooth either

Bluetooth on Mac os x won't work with keyboard, mouse or iphone.  Keyboard and mouse both have new batteries and go discoverable when switched on, i have gone into system setup and tried connecting.  It connects briefly with mouse then drops in and out of connection, keyboard does same, asking for passcode then no connection.  I'm lost... my phone can pick up keyboard, so i think it is bluetooth in mac.

    Go to ~/LIbrary/Preferences
Move the com.apple.Bluetooth.plist file to the Trash.
    Restart your Mac.
    Try re "pairing" the keyboard.
~ (Tilde) character represents the Home folder.
For Lion:   To find the Home folder in OS X Lion, open the Finder, hold the Option key, and choose Go > Library

  • Wireless Mighty Mouse loses Bluetooth Connection

Our new iMac arrived today and works fine except for the wireless mouse which loses the Bluetooth connection frequently, especially when the mouse is "Turned off" and then turned back on (every time?). Has Apple acknowledged this problem? It appears that there are many (all?) systems failing this way. Numerous boards are reporting similar unreliability of the Bluetooth system. I tried re-seating the batteries and checked all the software settings that might make sense. I read the manual 3 times. Only turning Bluetooth off and then back on seems to relieve the problem, but only temporarily until intentionally turning the mouse off. The connection was first lost in the midst of normal mousing activities. We discovered the relationship to the on-off switch while investigating the first lost Bluetooth connection. I now have a wired mouse connected to recover the lost Bluetooth connection each time it is lost. Help!!!

HI and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
    Try deleting this file. com.apple.bluetooth.plist
/Users/YourName/Library/Preferences. Drag that file from the Preferences folder to the Trash, empty the Trash and restart your iMac.
*"especially when the mouse is "Turned off"*
That definitely break the Bluetooth connection.
Sometimes you need to remove the mouse from the System Preferences/Bluetooth Device window and "re-pair" the mouse using the Bluetooth Setup Assistant.
To set up a Bluetooth device to work with your computer:
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences and then click Bluetooth.
    Open Bluetooth preferences
    Click Add +
Choose the type of device you want to set up and follow the onscreen instructions.

  • Can bluetooth connect to 2 devices simultaneously? speakers & mouse

I am planning to buy a bluetooth laptop mouse and also good room speakers that offer bluetooth connectivity (so that i can use my macbook as well as my iphone with them). Now, will my mouse and speakers connect to my macbook at the same time?
    Neerav Kothari

Bluetooth networks are composed of up to 8 devices (counting the computer). Yet, the bandwidth is limited. Anyway I would not advise you to use bluetooth/usb speakers at all. Use a wired speaker to the speaker port. Good speakers and bluetooth just do not go hand in hand. If you require quality use the digital optical connection

    Hi everyone!
After upgrading to OS X 10.10.3 my magic mouse and keyboard starts to lost the bluetooth connection.
Apparently, it looks like the connection is turn off when I'm not using the mouse or the keyboard. When moving the mouse or pressing any key the bluetooth reconnect automatically. But, the time to connect is high.
I already did a reset of the PRAM but the bluetooth keep disconnecting.
Is someone else with this same problem?
    How can I fix this?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Problems with bluetooth connection to wireless mouse and keyboard

I am using a mac book (aluminium) with 10.6.4 with a Cinema Display and a wireless keyboard and mouse. My time capsule is located only 1 meter away from the mac book and every time the automatic sync starts my mouse and keyboard do not repsond anymore. It seems that the bluetooth connection is somehow heavily loaded due to the network traffic. I have updated all devices and restarted the computer several times. It always keeps on doing that. Any help?

what you are seeing is called _*wireless interference*_.

  • Magic Mouse tracking poorly and losing Bluetooth connectivity since Mountain Lion upgrade

Since upgrading to Mountain Lion I have experienced frequent and inconsistant tracking from my Magic Mouse. It will work fine and then out of no where, and without any connection to a particular app or process (that I can identify) it will begin stop moving or move in a very jittery fashion. I'm also experiencing Bluetooth connection loss with the mouse from time to time out of nowhere. I cleaned the mouse and even went to so far as to replace it with another, brand new Magic Mouse and have seen the same problem.
I have also tried resetting PRAM and SMC.
Anyone else experiencing this or a similar issue? Have any suggestions of things to try?
    Mac Pro (Early 2008)
    Processor  2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
    Memory  26 GB 800 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM
Graphics  ATI Radeon HD 5870 1024 MB
    Software  OS X 10.8 (12A269)

Well , regarding of this issue i did some tests and i've reached to some conclusions to fix it.
    Steps
    1. turn off the magic mouse
    2. remove batteries
    3. put everything back and power on.
    4. pair your mouse again if you remove it from the tab
    5. leave the option discoverable marked down
    6. add to favorite from bluetooth menu (you will see a red heart with yes )
    7. should work for now
Test 1 : Mac mini 2010 with OSX Lion 10.7.4
Test 2 : MBA 2012 with OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.1
Conclusion : still have a bug not showing the right battery level (only 100%)but if you use "iStat" widget you will see the real level.
Magic mouse doesn't have, unfortunatelly the multipoint technology so if you use on multiple cpu in the same area can create instability (leave only one of a time and remove it from the bluetooth tab on other cpu)
I belive its working only using step 6, but to be sure

  • I have a 2011 iMac 27" i7 and the bluetooth connected trackpad, keyboard, and mouse all go haywire after awhile. This just began today and cannot make the issue go away. Nothing was downloaded, no software updates, etc. please help!

Oops, sorry, using my iPad for this. My iMac's Bluetooth-connected devices are going haywire after awhile of use. All three things--the trackpad, keyboard, and mouse--act up, especially the trackpad, by being overly sensitive and often just clicking and moving on its own. I've restarted the computer, I've swabbed batteries out of the devices, and nothing has worked so far in solving this issue. I downloaded Lion when it came out and had the update last week (I think), but today is the first day to experience this issue and nothing was downloaded today. I've been sending out a flurry of emails, but nothing else to hint at why this problem happened. Any ideas??

Humm, thank you. I have my iPhone and iPad on the wireless network, and yeah--using the rechargable batteries. I'll try normal batteries and re-join the phone and get back to you. May take a day or so because the semester starts today. Thank you again.

  • Bluetooth Connection Problem Logitech V270 Cordless Optical Notebook Mouse

I just start using the Logitech® V270 Cordless Optical Notebook Mouse for Bluetooth with my Ibook g4. The Ibook has internal bluetooth module installed. The mouse is easy to install. It pairs with the computer and both buttons and scrollwheel works.
However the Bluetooth connection gets lost occasionally. Most of the times it reastablish the connection quickly after. I think this is strange as the mouse is always near my iBook.
Does anyone has an idea how this problem can be solved? Or what might be the cause of this bluetooth disconnection? The mouse doesn't need drivers for operation on a mac. Some people have the same connection problems?

I have use the same mouse and I have never had a dropped connection. Have you tried replacing the batteries in the V270 to see if that might avoid the drop out?

  • Magic Mouse: Bluetooth Connection Lost

Periodically (and extremely frustrating) my iMac screen will announce "Bluetooth connection lost".
There seems to be no logical explanation. But...
This leaves me with a totally functionless Magic Mouse.
Is there a way of re-establishing Magic Mouse/Bluetooth without going through the hassle of connecting a USB mouse to reach System Preferences?

I'm starting to have problems with the Bluetooth not recognizing the Magic Mouse even though 1) it's discoverable and 2) I favorited it. Does this have anything to do with the new Magic Prefs app?
One other thing that could make a major difference is that I downloaded USB Overdrive in order to use a Logitech joystick. It really should have no bearing on something that is not a USB device, though that preference panel does recognize the Magic Mouse...in spirit if not in function. I cannot scroll with it or use the touch-specific functions of that device. If Bluetooth cannot read it, what good is it anyway?

  • Frozen screen with no connection with mouse or keyboard

    Hello,
My iMac has frozen on the start up page. I googled what might be wrong and came up with a bluetooth connection problem. So, I bought a wired mouse and it still won't 'wake up'. The wired mouse doesn't work either. Anyone got any suggestions? Thanks in advance for any techy help!

Reboot and immediately hold down the Alt/Option key during the sound that Linc mentioned, until a grey screen with a choice of boot disks appears. Choose your Mac OS X boot disk.
