Bluetooth Connection Gone

Yesterday I noticed that my bluetooth symbol in the top right hand corner had a line going through it, and it says when clicking on it that the connection is unavailable. I tried connecting my bluetooth mouse to it, and it wouldn't connect. I try and pull up the bluetooth status menu, and it says it can't because I don't have a bluetooth module installed. I don't always use my bluetooth mouse, and I haven't done anything with the bluetooth settings. Under system preferences I think there is suppose to be a bluetooth button but it's not there. I don't know what happened.

I've had some experience with this problem. I think it is software, not hardware - at least in my case. I've seen plenty of posts about it - with differing solutions.
My problem was on both occasions an intermittent bluetooth connection. When it failed the system profiler would report that there was no bluetooth module. Of course the Macbook Pro has it built in.
I had upgraded to 10.5.6 the first time it occurred. I eventually managed to rectify the problem for a while by running the combo upgrade installer. After a few weeks the problem returned. This time after a while bluetooth mostly did not appear at all.
Next time I was very close to putting the mac in for hardware repair. I had tried the combo installer, a Leopard re-install from the beginning, PRAM zapping et al. No luck. Hardware test showed no issues.
Then I installed and ran Applejack: http://sourceforge.net/projects/applejack/
All fixed!
I don't know what Applejack did - but it changed permissions on some files and I suspect the problem was there.
Any way - before you head in for repair - try Applejack.
Good luck!

    Try getting a diagnostic check
    System Preferences/Internet & Network/Network
    Unlock the padlock

    Highlight Airport and/or Ethernet
    Click the Assist Me button
In the popup window click the Diagnostic button.

After Install IOS 8 and 8.0.2, the Ipad audio was distorted, and the bluetooth connection to audio speaker have wheezing.

I ALSO just updated my brand new iphone 6 to 8.0.2, and I ALSO had my cellular service BRICKED.
All I get on the signal meter is Verizon 1x.  Every so often 3G would popup and you could send a text (no calls though) but it's gone in seconds. So  I can't send texts or make phone calls.
This phone worked immediately before the update and stopped working immediately after the update.
My neighbor has a iphone 5S. He updated to 8.0.2 lat week and had no problems UNTIL just this morning, when his phone stopped working - no cellular voice or data. He downgraded back to ios 8.0 but his cellular service never came back.
Called verizon - was told there were no service outages and then I got transferred to tech team.
Tech team had do all the Apple troubleshooting steps but nothing more. So they said "take it back."
So this BRAND NEW iPhone 6 phone is BRICKED because of iOS 8.0.2.
    Thanks Apple!

  • FileVault 2 / Bluetooth connection / WLAN - OS X Lion 10.7.4

    Hi Community.
I have some strange issues concerning the Bluetooth connection of my keyboard and my mouse ever since I enabled FileVault 2 on my iMac (mid-2011 model).
Before enabling FileVault 2, whenever I started my iMac, the keyboard and mouse would simply connect upon booting. Thus when I was asked to enter my password on start-up, I could simply use my keyboard and mouse.
Ever since enabling FileVault 2, when the password prompt shows up, my keyboard and mouse are not connected. I have to press a mouse button and a button on the keyboard, only then they are recognized and the Bluetooth connection is established.
Furthermore, after the system has booted up, during the first minute of use, I regularly suffer Bluetooth connection drop-outs of either the mouse or the keyboard, never both at the same time. Usually it takes a few seconds for the mouse / keyboard to reconnect. Then the connection is stable and I can work as long as I want to without any further drop-outs.
I know this is only a minor problem, but it drives me crazy. Especially, since the connection issues disappear, whenever I disable FileVault 2.
Is there any way to solve this?
I think it must have something to do with the fact that the prompt after enabling FileVault 2 appears at a different point in the boot-up process than without FileVault 2.
Something else happens, whenever FileVault 2 is enabled: after boot-up my iMac connects to my WLAN (Time Capsule 2 GB, 2011 model) and the connection is dead stable. I have Time Machine create backups via WLAN and it works as a charm.
Once the computer goes into sleep mode, upon re-awaking it connects to the WLAN and again the connection is dead stable - until Time Machine kicks in for the hourly update. Then the WLAN is still shown as connected, but the connection is lost, I cannot access the Internet and Time Machine doesn't work anymore.
Until I restart, then things are back to normal.
The problem disappears upon disabling FileVault 2.
And a third issue occurs after enabling FileVault 2: every once in a while, after I entered my password, instead of simply booting up, a status bar appears on the screen. The status is progressing, it appears as if it is loading something or finishing some process. Then the computer boots up, but is incredibly slow.
I have to restart it, to fix the problem.
Again, after disabling FileVault 2, the problem is gone.
I have already run the iMac hardware test, it doesn't show anything out of the ordinary. Most of the time, the system is completely fine and stable.
The problems only occur, when FileVault 2 is active.
Sorry for the lengthy post, but these things really bother me.
I hope they are gone, once Mountain Lion is released.
    Are there any solutions?
    Regards
    Sebastian

I have the same problem now that I've enabled FileVault 2 on Mountain Lion.

  • 10.4.6 Update: Bluetooth is gone

    Hi guys.
Yesterday I updated my PB to 10.4.6 but now my bluetooth is gone (Not available). Restarts didn't work to fix it.
    Suggestions?
    Many thanks in advance.

Same problem. On G5 iMac (dc iMac OK), fter 10.4.6 bluetooth gone. "No info available" in system profiler. Network control panel shows BT greyed out. Menu bar BT item shows BT not available. Do not use any BT devices, but used to work with a BT mouse. Did not notice it was gone until I went to try connecting my iMacs via BT internet sharing instead of the FW connection I am now using. Reason is that I have WinXP native on the dc and it does not do FW TCP as well as the mac.
Anyway, tried the power off and disconnect all USB & FW and PRAM reset process described in other posts without luck. Anyone figured this out yet? My G5 iMac is the no light sensor unit.

  • Bluetooth connectivity loss in SL on MBP

I'm losing Bluetooth connectivity with keyboard and mouse when MB Pro goes to sleep. I have to restart to regain the connections. I also have noticed that the option to turn BT on and off from the menu bar status icon has gone away and I am left with a greyed out line of Bluetooth On. Is anyone else seeing this repetitiive and really annoying behavior? Is there a user implementable solution other than reboots?

    Hi..,
I also suspect that it´s a class2 - but wanted to check - since I would like to use a Class 1 unit.
    I checked with system_profiler from a terminal :
    BRCM2046 Hub:
    Product ID: 0x4500
    Vendor ID: 0x0a5c (Broadcom Corp.)
    Version: 1.00

    That implies a bcm2046 chip - and I checked it a broadcom:
    http://www.broadcom.com/products/Bluetooth/Bluetooth-RF-Silicon-and-Software-Sol utions/BCM2046
    I also checked with ioreg:

    That implies a bcm2045 chip..
I looked that up at broadcom:
    <a class="jive-link-external-small" href="http://">http://www.broadcom.com/products/Bluetooth/Bluetooth-RF-Silicon- and-Software-Solutions/BCM2045
Other sites mentions that this chip can be class1,2 and 3 depending on design.
I don´t know what Apple did, and that´s the answer i+m looking for

  • Can't download new program without bluetooth connection but I'm on dsl

Everytime I try to open up a new program in my applications folder my mac tries to connect to bluetooth but I'm on dsl and I can't figure out how to connect to the internet with the options it's giving me. I've gone into my preferences and made sure that my connections are ok so what am I missing??? Somebody please help.
    Thank you.

It sounds like your programs are looking for info on the internet.. could be just looking for/checking for updates.. nothing wrong with that.
You say your on DSL, but when this happens are you connected to the network? If you are, I can't think of a reason why you would be prompted for a Bluetooth connection.
And the other posted is correct.. if you move your Ethernet/Dsl connection to the top of the list it should prompt you to do something with your DSL connection.

  • HT201394 Bluetooth connections dead in iOS 8.0.2

Running iOS 8.0.2 on my iPhone 6 and ever since upgrading my Bluetooth connections have gone to crap.  Connects in car, but when phone rings, Bluetooth disconnects.  Same with playing music to my Bose Soundlink Mini.
How can I roll back to 8.0 until this is resolved.  I can not be without connectivity in my vehicle.

I am trying to connect my Lenovo A1-07 Ideapad Tablet to a Nokia 5230 phone using the bluetooth connection. Whilst I get the devices to pair they will not connect. Does anybody have any suggestions?

Hello, my lenovo ideapad a1 woudn't charge unless you plug the charger in really hard and hold it there. That is when the light comes on. I left it off but still it doesn't charge. Any help?

  • Nokia C5-03/Win7 Bluetooth connectivity problem

When I am trying to connect Nokia Ovi Suite to my phone using Bluetooth, the pairing process seems to succeed, except the last phase: Then I receive a message that the connection did not succeed. The wizard gives then a possibility to try again with a different ID but it fails every time.
It is the same problem if I try to pair the phone from computer's Bluetooth icon in the notification area. However, with using my laptop with XP this succeeds. Therefore I believe that my phone is OK but there is something wrong with my Bluetooth software in Win 7 computer. Nokia Ovi Suite lists it:
    - Microsoft (Version: 6.1.7600, subversion: 16385)
When I start the computer, the Event Viewer shows the following error:
"The Bluetooth driver expected an HCI event with a certain size but did not receive it."
    Source: BTHUSB
    EventID: 5
The Microsoft's "Event Log Online Help" onthat window does not suggest anything.
However, this may be the actual reason for the problems but I do not know how to fix it.
I have tried Microsoft's "Fix it" tool but it did not fix this problem.
    Any ideas what to do?

    Still the same problem.
Now I installed the Nokia PC Suite and I tried to make a bluetooth connection to it.
Everything goes again well except after the last phase when I give the asked pin number in my phone, the computer ponders a while and shows then a window with the text that the phone cannot be verified.

  • How do I connect my Centro to the Internet via bluetooth over PC's Internet? Where is Centro's PPP Connection Type? How do I setup Login Script for bluetooth connection?

I am trying to set up bluetooth on the Centro to connect to the internet via my PC's internet.
    HotSync over bluetooth works successfully.
Computer specs: Toshiba P205-S6277; Bluetooth Stack v5.10.04 (currently using); Bluetooth Monitor v3.01 (to use Vista's built-in bluetooth)
I think I have narrowed my problem down to 3 things.
    (1) Finding Network Access properties (to allow connected devices to access the internet)
    (2) Finding Centro's Network Connection Type: PPP
    (3) Finding the correct Login Script to use
for (1) I think I've looked everywhere; found nothing on Network Access.
Checked control panel: only Bluetooth Local COM
Right-clicked bluetooth icon > Settings: File transfer, PAN Networking, PAN DHCP server, AV controls. Other bluetooth settings are for file transfer or object push. I don't see anything like this.
I'm stumped on (2). It seems as if palm removed this option under Centro's Advanced network settings .
Nearly all the forums that I read says to choose Connection Type: PPP.
    (3) Found 2 scripts that seemed would work. I don't know how it exactly works but it sounds workable.
    First script:
    Send: CLIENT
    Send: CLIENT
    Wait for: CLIENTSERVER
    End:
    Script 1 Connect Log:
    =======================================
    Connect Log
    S: client
    S: client
    R:
    Err: 0x121F   <<<netErrUserCancel b/c I canceled it.
    Not connected
    ========================================
I canceled it because the process would stay on "Signing In" then it automatically "Canceled" itself.
    Second script:
    Send CR:
    Delay: 1
    Send: CLIENT
    Wait For: CLIENTSERVER
    End
**UPDATE** I found on this forum (Reply # 3689) that the script is needed only if you are using Palm OS 4 or under. Centro uses Palm OS 5.49121. Can anyone support this?
Even without the script it has problems "Signing In".
I'm currently reading this site and trying out its decribed methods. I will update this thread when I get the results.
I'm using the Centro. And If anyone's been able to successfully connect to the internet on the Centro via a bluetooth connection to the PC WITHOUT 3rd party applications, please share.  If not, please share any ideas.
    Thanks!

I've been going at this for days, and have probably exhausted all the proposed solutions on the first 3 pages of various google searches. I'm getting the feeling that Vista users are pretty much SOL for the time being.
For the record, I just tried out a few of the solutions (mRouter & SoftickPPP) on XP and they work perfectly.

    Hi
I have an IPad mini WiFi (not cellular) and an IPhone 5. I use the bluetooth connection between both devices when on the road. I downloaded a navigation system on my IPad using GPS positioning. Is the Bluetooth connection working to use GPS positioning on the IPad using IPhone 5 as the hotspot?
    Thanks for your input

  • Bluetooth connection fails iOS 8.1

My iPhone5s cannot make a Bluetooth connectivity with any of my Macs(MBA mid-2013, iMac late-2012, MacPro) all running Yosemite 10.10. Prior to upgrading to Yosemite the same iPhone running on iOS 7 did make successful bluetooth connectivity. My iPhone5s is on 8.1. Surprising even though it cannot have connectivity, it sees and stay connected for a second or two and then will say "Not Connected". But the same phone connects with Blueant S4 handsfree Speakerphone - except that I have to make a connection each time. In the past, it used to connect automatically when I was in the range of my device.
Yes, I have tried reset PRAM, SMC resets on my Macs, powered OFF and ON my iPhone5s and even reset my NW connection. In addition, I have other iPhones in my family and none can make connection to Macs which run on Yosemite(tried 4s, 5 and even 6). But the same iPhones make successful BT on Macs running Mavericks and Mountain Lion(yes one MBP still exists). So I am guessing it is changes in Yosemite that is causing the problem. Because I am going through this problem - my family members who have Macs do not want to upgrade to Yosemite as they depend on BT connectivity for their external devices. I don't blame them, but sounds very silly to me that Apple messed up big time with BT connectivity. I see many reporting similar issues, but for many resetting PRAM and/or SMC they have been successful.
Any help would be appreciated. Again I am not referring to Handoff (which it is working for me) but I am interested in BT connectivity with Yosemite. This is important because external BT devices need to be connected(Headphones, Earbuds etc).

I went to the Apple store yesterday because I was having the same issue in my Honda Accord after I updated to iOS 8.1.1.  The very helpful rep there suggested that I go to Settings -> General -> Reset on my phone to reset my iPhone 5 General Settings.  She said that it's like an oil change for the phone that cleans out a lot of the junk.  After doing this, I was able to stream both my music and Pandora in my car again.
Note:  When you reset the General Settings, you will lose your phone password and background image (not a big deal).  You will NOT lose your pictures, video or emails.
    Hope that helps!

What user troubleshooting have you done on the phone? The steps are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new. Understand that a restore will put the latest iOS on your device. It is also possible there is a hardware fault on the device and the Bluetooth is failing. Anything is possible given the scenario you describe.
And as far as iOS 7.x is concerned, we have 5 different iPhones here at home, all with the latest iOS, a 4, 4s, 5c, and 2-5s and all are working just fine. So, a blanket statement such as the one provided by the other poster is not completely true. Others are not having any issues at all either.
