Bluetooth connection slowing down Wifi connection

I have seen few discussions here about this topic but I haven't found the right solution to my problem.
So each time I turn on the Bluetooth connection the wifi connection becomes really slow. I am using the Bluetooth connection mostly for my external keyboard.
I am using Maverick 10.9.2 OS.
I read somewhere that the problem occurs because of the frequency range that my wifi and bluetooth are using, currently both are using 2.4 Ghz.
However, I am not able to change the frequency from my pocket wifi router (from 2.4 to 5 Ghz) which could solve the problem.
Any ideas, is there any other solution to this problem?
I guess I could just buy a USB keyboard instead Bluetooth but it's not ideal.

Unfortunately, it's a problem that's been going on for years (at least 4) and I've yet to find a satisfactory answer.
It shouldn't be a problem with the 2.4GHz range - but you could always test this, of course, by purchasing a dual band router. I have one of the 5th generation Apple Extreme's and it works quite well (though, if I were buying now, I would upgrade to the newest AE).
My only other suggestion would be to take your MacBook Pro into your local Apple Store and see if they know how to fix the problem.
Best of luck,
Clinton

  • Bluetooth mouse slows down wifi

I recently bought logitech bluetooth mouse V470 to use with my Thinkpad s440. The problem is whenever the mouse is connected, my wifi slows down dramatically, turning off the mouse recovers the internet speed. Can anyone suggest a fix for this issue

You could try changing the channel that your wi-fi uses for creating the LAN. You would need to do this in your router configuration.

  • DO PUSH NOTIFICATION SLOW DOWN WIFI OR 4G CONNECTIONS?

DO PUSH NOTIFICATION SLOW DOWN WIFI OR 4G CONNECTIONS?

I have a 3Gs and I've tried everything. I even restored as new phone and the issue continues. It has to do with the Wifi antenna and the bluetooth antenna, I believe they are both the same. I get intermittent wifi at home, work and other hotspots. I also get static on my bluetooth earpiece. I have to hold the phone within 6 inches of my ear for the static to go away. If I take the phone off of headset during that call, the phone is crystal clear. I have done the forget this device. I've done the turn off iPhone and turn off router at home, star the router up and wait, then turn iphone back on. Same issues continue. It has to do with the software. I'm not sure how they power the antenna, but maybe the software update 4.3.3 has effected it.

  • IMac slows down wifi/LAN cable connection

    Hello,
I came across a quiet unique and annoying problem, that I have not seen being discussed so far.
I spend the last 3 weeks trying to solve my internet/wifi connection following all kinds of posts here.
Problem: Wifi/Lan internet connection is slow (less than 0.8mbit/s)
Problem only appears when I login with an iMac via wifi OR lag cable
    iMac, 2011 27`` Mac OS 10.7.5
    Background:
I have a 20mbit/s internet connection with my provider. works fine on iPad, iPhone, appleTV HTC one mini, etc… BUT as soon, as I login with my iMac, the internet connection slows down to less than 1 mbit/s
    I have tried following solutions:
    - live box (router) was exchanged and is brand new
    - security settings on router changes (wpa2 etc)
    - all channels on router tested from 1-13
    - keychain saved passwords for Wifi and router deleted, PRAM reset
    - renewed lease of connected devices (no IP conflict)
    - shut down wifi on iMac - connection with all devices great, as soon as i switch wifi on, all devices lose their high speed connection and go down to less than 1mbit/s
    - connected iMac via LAN cable: same problem, all speed is lost
    - iMac is not in the network - speed is great
    - connected iMac via time capsule wifi, same problem. connected iMac via netgear extender, same problem
also, if I open network preferences and start the "assist me" app and run diagnostics, all dots are green except the ISP and server, bit most of the time they switch to green immediately, but connection is still slow.
Reception bar is on "3", so signal strength is no problem, and I´d like to emphasize that this is also happening on LAN cable. and again, if the iMac is disconnected from wifi AND / OR LAN, all other devices work fine.
Would love to hear your thoughts!
    Thanks!

Although I have been on Mac OS for a while now, I have never had to troubleshoot faulty network in the mac itself.
OSX does apparently have a safe mode boot..
OS X: What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode?
Try that.. as that gives you the same thing as windows with all the extras left out, so you get a basic operating system only and you can see if the problem still exists.. if it does.. I would simply bite the bullet.. wipe the Mac.. reinstall the OS and then carefully reinstall your applications from original disks/downloads and move your operating files back .. but start a different user on the computer and copy back the min you need to get working again.
If the problem still happens even in safe mode boot then do a hardware test.. because it is possible something has actually failed at the hardware level.

  • Intel Wireless N-1030: Bluetooth slows down WiFi

I own a Dell L702x which has the Intel Wireless N-1030 which is a combined Wi-Fi & Bluetooth device. Today, I connected a Bluetooth speaker to the laptop, which worked wonderfully, although the Wi-Fi was slowing down when the laptop was transmitting to the speaker (i.e. when the speaker was playing music). I haven't used the Bluetooth adapter for ages, so I don't know if this problem is recent or not. Has any of you had already a similar problem with this particular adapter or any other?

  • Random slow down wifi connection on yosemite.

    Hi,
I recently bought a MacBook Pro Retina Mid 2014, since it came with Maveriks pre-installed, I updated it to Yosemite  right away.
When I run a Speed test (Yosemite 10.10.1), it allways happends this to me:
This down marked by the red arrow, is what bothers me... that does not happend if I boot with boot camp with windows and I run the same test, the speed graph for windows 8, in same computer, and same environment is all flat.
I've tryed all methods like deleting all wifi configurations from the control pannel, deleting the wifi configig files and restarting, reseting the SMC, with no luck.
Is apple working allready in this issue?, anyone else having the same trouble?

  • U430 touch - Bluetooth Connection regularly breaks down

    All,
I have a U430 touch with Windows 8.1 64bit and work with a Microsoft Sculpt Comfort Mouse with Bluetooth connection.
The Bluetooth connection regularly breaks down and the Mouse stops working. The internal Pad is working properly.
In this situation I go to "PC Configuration" / "PC and Periherie" and click to "Bluetooth" (with the internal pad, because the mouse is not working ;-) )
The Bluetooth connection "heals" immediately and the Mouse starts working.
Unfortunately I have this behaviour every 5-10 Minutes and I do not see a clear pattern when it happened.
Does anyone have an idea, a solution for this? It is really annoying.
Please find enclosed the driver and Programs I have installed.
    Thanks to all

  • Can others on a shared wi-fi slow down my connection or block my connection with software or special hardware?

Hi, Can others on a shared wi-fi slow down my connection or block my connection with software or special hardware?  My connection has been very spotty and many times cuts off.  The router is in our upstairs living room only 70 feet from my room, but it just seems like recent connections have been horrible.  Also, I noticed the following image when trying to access the apple webpage.  Anyone know what that might be?  It's not the usual apple icon next to the address.
    thanks
    Dave

    Welcome,
Indeed, by definition other users would "share" the bandwith and hence slow you down - but not cut you off.
More likely is that there are other devices (e.g. cordless phones) are causing interference. You don't specify which AP you have but if it an 802.11n one you should get better reception as the 5GHz range does get so much interference.
Try utilities like NetSpot or iStumbler to see what's in range.
The icon on the web page is probably something else not related to WiFi

  • Can the wireless card in my mac wear out and slow down internet connection??

can the wireless card in my mac wear out and slow down internet connection??

Yes the WiFi card can wear out but not what you would really call wearing out like a pair of pants do. It can start to fail causing the connection between your computer and your Wifi router to slow down, IE transmit and receive less data in a given time period. And then it will fail completely.
But as to your internet connection being affected by a failing WiFi card no that can't happen.
If you turn the WiFi off and connect the computer to your router with an Ethernet cable does your internet browsing and downloading speed increase? If it does then there may be something wrong with the WiFi card in your computer or the WiFi section of your router. Hard to say which.
If after connecting the computer to your router with an Ethernet cable and your speeds do not increase then it is a problem with the router or on your ISPs end.

  • Bluetooth connection slow OutputStream

    Hello,
I am working on a simple game using the mobile phone emulator in netbeans. The game works fine and the screen is updated when it needs to be. Whenever a ball moves, it sends the position of the ball to the other handset (in this case emulator).
But when ever anything goes outwards on the OutputStream on the bluetooth connection, it seems to slow up the full application.
The game canvas its self is a thread, and inside that it creates a bluetooth class thread. In the bluetooth class it listens for any incoming data.
Inside the same bluetooth class is a method for sending out on the bluetooth connection.
I thought i threaded this properly, but it lags a lot when anything is sent out. Anyone have any ideas as to what might be wrong and why output is slowing the application down?
    thanks

Though the compatibility I am not sure with.. you may download and install the latest version of Nokia Suite on your PC and then connect the phone to PC thru' BT. Open Nokia Suite --> Messaging.. Then at the bottom next to the Phone Icon select Inbox. it will open all messages in the phone's Inbox in the Middle column. Do not select SYNC but manually select about 20-25 messages and Drag-and-Drop them to the 'Conversations' folder at the top. Then select next 20-25 messages and repeat the process till you are finished with all messages.. Though time consuming, this seems to be the ONLY solution in this scenario ..

I'm about to buy a 27" i-Mac. I would like to connect my 30" Cinema Display to it as a second monitor. What will I need to do that? Will this slow down the overall performance?

The new iMacs do not come with a MiniDisplayPort, they have Thunderbolt, so unless you are talking about purchasing one of the previous generation iMacs such as this refurbished model in the online Apple store, it won't work. And yes, if you are going to get the full range of video resolutions you will need the Dual-Link version.
For details see the store's web page on the Dual-Link display adapter.

  • My browser takes minutes to open then when the tab is fully loaded it will start saying "Connecting" and slow down or freeze.

When I open my browser, it takes 3-5 minutes to fully open. When I get to a website, randomly the tab will say 'Connecting' and slow down and take 10-15 minutes to function or freeze completely. This almost always happens on sites that require Flash Player use. I have uninstalled and reinstalled my Flash several times. I've added memory, as someone suggested it was a memory issue. It's so frustrating, please help!
