Bluetooth connection to incar stereo

I was excited to hear about the stereo bluetooth update in 3.0 as I thought all my christmas' had come at once... I have just recently purchased a new car that has integrated bluetooth.
My iPhone pairs with the car no problem and using the phone to make and accept calls works seemlessly...however...I cannot play my ipod through my car stereo...
Can someone please advise:
a) is this is even possible?
b) how can i select the audio output when using the ipod
c) what the problem might be?
thanks in advance...

i guess you are refering to an ipod touch...or do you mean running itunes on your iphone?
did you pay to upgrade your touch to phone os3?? only 2nd gen touch can supporet the bluetooth. how old is your touch? (Because the touch update doesn't happen automatically like with an iphone.) If you are running an ipod in your car with os3, you need to open settings for bluetooth and pair the ipod with your car radio. Bluetooth also needs to be enabled in settings.
I myself wont leave bluetooth ON all the time as I assume it effects the duration of the battery charge/ playing life of the ipod.
there are also different bluetooth standards for appliances. I have little knowlege of your specific car radio and this radio may not be able to arbitrate between multiple bluetooth devices when the iphone is present. however, i doubt this is your problem with the radio because you mention that the car is new.
let us know how this goes for you
you should also be able to interface the touch physically with a new radio through a usb port and car music will be interupted when the bluetooth phone rings. but of course this is specific to certain car radios.
i am interested in purchasing the dual branded car radio which does bluetooth and ipod by usb because it is the most affordable one which also has HD radio tuning. So I have researched some of the issues you seem to care about.

  • IOS6 bluetooth connection with car stereo

With my iPhone 4S running iOS5, my after-market car stereo bluetooth was able to read my song name, artist name, ect. Now that I upgraded to iOS6 my Kenwood receiver cannot read this data while connected via bluetooth. Since the data can't be read, the steering wheel control to search/skip a song forward or back also no longer works. I tested the car stereo last night with an iOS5 phone and it worked correctly, so I know the problem is related to the bluetooth iOS6.

  • IPhone 5 bluetooth connection to car stereo

Just upgraded from iPhone 4 to iPhone 5. My phone connects with Bluetooth fine with my Pioneer stereo in my car, but the song names and artists don't display on my car stereo and the remote for my car stereo now won't advance songs. Volume and source work fine on the remote. All this worked with my iPhone 4. Is there some sort of a bluetooth accessiblity issue that I can fix on my phone?

Same problem here - I got it to connect once but it barely worked so I disconnected and reattempted connection and fail after fail.

  • Ios 5.0.1 + Iphone 4 bluetooth connection issue with car stereo

My Iphone 4 will not connect with my new JVC car stereo I have spoken to JVC customer support and they say its an Apple issue that they need to fix (changed something with the bluetooth connection scripts in the latest update update, as they have done before).
The phone finds the stereo and then tries to pair with it, however half way through the pairing process the phone losses connection with the stereo and the pairing is then deleted.
I have deleted all the existing pairing in the phone memory and ensured that the stereo has been rebooted to ensure no conflict of previous installs would effect the process
Does anyone know if Apple are going to fix this glitch in a new softwre update (and if so when is it being released) as at the minute i have an expensive stereo which is cant use to its full ability?

Similar problems occured when Apple released iOS 4 last year. It was NOT fixed with an update from Apple. It was fixed by the system vendors and automakers releasing updates for their equipment. There are ongoing complaints from people with some Toyota built cars (Toyota and Lexus) with some systems as well as some BMW drivers.
I'm willing to bet money that the head unit you have is not fully standards compliant. Unfortunately, getting JVC to admit that is going to be nearly impossible. I suspect they will just quietly issue an update sometime in the next few months. Assuming the head unit can be updated by the end user at all.  You may have to resort to an inexpensive visor mount speaker phone in the mean-time.

You can connect multiple bluetooth devices, like a keyboard and headphones. However, not two that use audio. That's because the audio channel over A2DP can only play to one device at a time.  Its a limitation of the audio feed via bluetooth - there is no split or simultaneous feed to multiple devices.  A2DP is a uni-directional 2 channel (ie. stereo) audio feed only.

  • IOS 8.1.2 car bluetooth connection

I have lost the Bluetooth connectivity in my 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe since I updated my phone to iOS 8.1.2.  I have tried to reset car Bluetooth features as well as on my phone.  Nothing seems to work.  Is anyone else having issues and are there any solutions?
    tx

Similar to VroomVroom:  I have iphone 5s, was on iOS7, went to iOS 8.1.2, and I didn't notice that I had lost a specific bluetooth connection: Garmin Smartlink - Live Traffic App.  The Garmin Smartlink uses bluetooth to connect to the aftermarket Kenwood DNX891HD I have in my car, this comes with a Navigation GPS included.  The Garmin Smartlink app (Live Traffic) provides immediate traffic updates if your city is covered, and my city Cincinati OH is covered.  This was all working fine before I upgraded the iOS on the iphone 5S.  I read another article related to "carkit" connections between iphones and car stereos (for both NAV and also hands-free) - here is the key point and my theory: Only ONE bluetooth connection can be supported at a time.  In my case - the hands-free telephone (thru car microphone and car stereo speakers) works fine, and I believe this is also "shared" by Pandora App (from iphone to Kenwood).  So, my theory is the iphone will not connect to the Kenwood for the Nav, since it is already connected to the Kenwood for the audio (Pandora and hands-free, I think these two "share" the same bluetooth connection, and I think the Smartlink connection is separate).  I messed around this morning in the parking lot at work, and my attempts to "forget" and "pair" the iphone and Kenwood would continously start playing Pandora, but the Smartlink still will not connect (when it dis work, I would see a green circle with two cars on my Nav map screen, indicating the smartlink connection and also status of the traffic).  My next test this afternoon will be to delete Pandora app on the phone, try forget / pair again and see if I can get Smartlink to work.  If this works, I'll reinstall Pandora App and try to get it back as well.  My past 24 hours of skimming articles (don't ya love the internet !) seems to indicate that I am not the only person with bluetooth problems due to the iOS 8.1.2 update....hey Apple...where's 8.1.3 to fix this ?

  • Can I have 2 Bluetooth connection active at the same time? Works with other phones...

Is it possible to have one Bluetooth connection for "phone audio" and a 2nd connection for "A2DP" music streaming at the same time on my iPhone 5? My car-stereo has Bluetooth for phone calls but NOT for audio streaming. However, there's a 3.5mm aux in on the head unit. On my S5 I can create one Bluetooth connection to the car-stereo and select "phone audio" and a 2nd for my Bluetooth aux-in adapter. It works perfect since months but last week I changed back to an iPhone (5s) and it appears that I can only have ONE BT connection active at a time!?  Any ideas anyone?

    Hi SwedelostinAmerica,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
The iPhone can maintain multiple pairing records, but it can only connect to one headset or hands-free device at a time. However, in your situation there may be a solution. You can connect the iPhone via Bluetooth for calls and use the 3.5mm jack on your iPhone and car radio to connect for music.

  • Cannot connect to car stereo after 4.3.5 update

After I updated my Iphone4  (4.3.5) I cannot connect to my vehicle stereo.
Is there a fix for this?

I'm guessing your stereo supports A2DP bluetooth audio streaming. If so, what's happening is the phone is routing the audio to the last connected interface. You are plugging it in via the headphone jacke BEFORE the bluetooth connection is complete. When the bluetooth locks in, it starts routing audio out via A2DP instead. WAIT until the bluetooth connection is complete and then plug in the aux cable if that's the way you want to do it.

  • 5800 + bh-103 problem with bluetooth connection

    Hello,
I have nokia 5800 xpressmusic with Version 30.0.011.C03.01 that was issued for the phone in 29/06/09.
I also bought bh-103 bluetooth stereo handsfree and to my pity i realized that from time to time the bluetooth connection between my 5800 and my bh-103 is faulty. The phone shows that it is connected with this bluetooth but you cannot dial nethier from phone nor from the bluetooth bh-103. Even if i power off the bh-103 the phones stil shows  the bluetooth connection to be active(the icon of the headphone dissapears). If i power on the bh-103 even if the icon of the headphone in the display of the 5800 dissapears it can't be paired. What i mean is that the phone shows both the bluetooth connection to be opened plus the icon of the headset in the display but as i mentioned before you can't voice dial by pressing the big center button of the bh-103, neither you can dial from the phone itself.
    Has anyone faced similar problems?
P.S. this kind of problems i am facing since i bought the phone with the already installed version of the firmware

First, restore factory settings in your 5800 phone. Next reset the BH-103 by pressing and holding down the multifunction key for more than 8 seconds.
Now, turn it on (press and hold down the multifunction key for approx. 4sec)
Turn on the bluetooth in your 5800 (you must do it within a second or two after you turn on the headset)
Wait for the headset to detect and pair with the phone. The pass code is 0000. In your phone, set the headset as authorized, so that it can connect to your phone automatically.
If the problem persists, I would advise you to check for the same behaviour with another bluetooth headset. Do you have problems while transferring files, connecting to the PC thru PC Suite, etc using Bluetooth?
    Cheers,

  • Bluetooth connection to Audi A4 still drops after 2 months of trying everyt

I have a 2007 Audi A4 and paired my iPhone to it. The Phonebook transfered over and it works for the most part. However 9 times out of 10 the Bluetooth connection drops about 5 minutes into driving. It then picks up the connection a minute or so later. I do have it connected to a charger (which reduced the problem a bit).
I really don't want to buy a Bluetooth headset since I already have what is a perfectly working (and expensive) car system that paired fine with 2 other phones (Sony Ericsson T616, Motorola SLVR).
I'm becoming increasing frustrated, especially after a near accident when I had to pick up the handset and lower the stereo during a recent dropped Bluetooth connection.
The iPhone is brilliant, but this dangerous glitch is a deal breaker for me. I'm now seriously considering a Blackberry instead.
I tried everything over the past 2+ months including:
    - Bought and used 2 different iPhone car adapters
    - Installed all iPhone updates
    - Turned off auto locking
    - Kept the iPhone on the Phone screens (Contacts, Recents, etc.)
    - Turned off WiFi
    - Disabled Bluetooth until just before pairing
    - Restarted my iPhone prior to pairing
    - Restored my iPhone prior to pairing
    - Factory reset prior to pairing
Interestingly the pairing worked for the first day after each of the past 2 iPhone updates, but the problem came back on day 2. That's why I performed restores and resets (which didn't work).
    Any thoughts?

I have a 2006 A8 and had similar problems until I loaded the last iPhone update; Bluetooth is now rock-solid. Check with your dealer and make sure your car has the latest Audi updates. On my car, Bluetooth settings have a delay setting. Make sure that is turned on.
