Bluetooth device\drive goes missing

Hi,
I've just bought HP ENVY x2 13 detachable laptop. It was going fine for the first few days, I have a connected bluetooth keyboard that comes as part of the laptop/tablet.
suddenly, the keyboard stopped working and after looking here and there I noticed that the bluetooth is completely gone from the device manager, services, task bar, charm bar and every thing. It's almost like it's not there any more.
I restarted the computer and worked fine, then again stopped. I tried everything from re-installing the bluetooth driver to factory reset, put nothing worked.
I should mention that in the same time that the bluetooth device goes missing, I find "unknown USB device (device descriptor request failed)" i'm not sure but it's like there is a clash between bluetooth and other device/software.
Could you please HELP it so annoying. I'm thinking to return this PC back

Thanks Hany!
After hours of torubleshooting and reinstalling drivers etc. it's somewhat stable, but only after uninstalling "Intel Bluetooth 4.0" and leaving it uninstalled... Which seems to be related to what you discovered.
I'll keep the "Refresh" in mind in case I need it as a last resort.
I'm still very disappointed that I can't disable the touhpad and use an external Bluetooth/RF Mouse... But I guess I'll address that in another post.
Thanks Again!

I've found two bugs in iOS 7:
    1) declined calls does not appear as missed calls on the lock screen/notification centre - iOS 7.0.2.
    2) when bluetooth is enabled from control center, it does not connect to an already paired bluetooth device automatically - iOS 7.0.

Its a 5S,I couldnt automatically connect to an already paired bluetooth device the next time.Have to forget that device then re establish each time.Am i missing any setting that does it ?Also if i turn on the bluetooth via settings and turn off it via control center, the settings page still reflects its on ,is that a bug in IOS ?

    What kind of Bluetooth device?
When you turn it off in Control Center, are you looking at the Settings page? If so, you need to close control center for it to reflect the change. When you turn Bluetooth off in Control Center and look on the Status Bar, what do you see? Do you see the gray Bluetooth icon? If you have Settings closed and turn Bluetooth off on the Control Center and then open the Settings app, do you still see Bluetooth enabled?

  • How to connect miss configured bluetooth device.

    Hi Support Community,
I've recently purchased a Play Station 3 bluetooth controller (DUALSHOCK3 "CECHZC2H") from a Japanese web store for a very cheap price.
I don't have a PS3, but I read few articles to make me believe it would work on my Mac Mini out of the box.
However, the cheap DUALSHOCK3 would not connect the way tutorial tells me it would.
Instead, it prompts me to type few keyboard keys to authorize the device. ( Which of couse can't be done on DUALSHOCK3 controller )
I came to the conclution that the controller may be a knock off.
But, hey! It still is a bluetooth controller! All it needs is a way to reconfigue it self to be recognised as a "HID game controller" instead of a keyboard and knock off controllers were made to work in PS3s.
All it should need is a bit of reconfiguration...
And so, I was wondering if there is a way to make a Mac to think the bluetooth device is a HID game controller.
    Any suggestions would be helpful!
    Thanks!
    My Macs:
-Macbook (Late 2009 Aluminum) OSX Lion
-Mac Mini (Mid 2011) OSX Lion
    What I tried so far:
    -Turn on and off Bluetooth
-Delete and reconnect the device from "System Preferences -> Bluetooth"
-Connect a USB bluetooth receiver a had from 2008
-Edit "com.apple.Bluetooth.plist" (settings get overwitten when the device gets connected)

    hi,
i am not sure if i can help, but i think that if you use a programe such as gamepad companion to map the keys of your controller to adjust to your needs for your games. Because i never tried it, and that i can't, i suggest you should find a way to try if gamepad companion can solve your problem before actualy buying it...
i think that gamepad companion only works with hid devices... we should consider that, if your controller isn't compatible with gamepad companion, i suggest you use an other program to map the keys to the device
    hope it helps

  • Iphone 3G Problems with picking up Bluetooth devices

I've been trying to pair up my Iphone 3G with a bluetooth device and it won't recognise it (or anything else for that matter) even though I've switched this capability on.  Am I doing something wrong and I've not used Bluetooth before?

So tonight I successfully updated my iphone 3gs to ios4. Trying to be nice, I was going to update my dad's 3g after he went to sleep so he could wake up to the new update. no good deed goes unpunished.
So I plugged in his phone and it told me there was an update available, so I sat and waited while it downloaded. Once done, it was automatically starting the update. It first said it was backing up the iphone (which took forever). Then, to my surprise, it said it was restoring the iphone software and firmware. I was scared but then it said it was restoring the music and apps, so i figured it was restoring everything it had just taken so long to back up.
I waited and once it was done, the phone was updated with the new features but was back to it's factory settings. It had no contacts, no calendar events, no email was set up, no notes.
However, it did have the latest photos if I am remembering correctly.
So I frantically restored the phone to the latest back up, which I assumed would be from a couple of hours ago, but it turned out to be from January 17, 2010. I didn't sync the phone before starting the update because I didn't while updating my 3gs earlier, and all went well then.
So now the phone has lost anything that was added to it after January 17, 2010. Including the recent pictures that were still on the phone when it was restored to its factory settings earlier.
WHAT HAPPENED? CAN I FIX IT?
if the phone spent so long backing up before the update then why isn't there a back up file for it?
I am very desperate. my dad is a businessman who had a lot of important contacts and events stored in his phone. He wakes in 15 minutes at 5:00 am and I am just awaiting his anger when he finds a chunk of his data missing.
    please help me.

  • 'Allow Bluetooth devices to wake this computer' always dimmed

I'm trying to use an external display with my 1.33ghz 12" G4 PB and use a BT mouse/keyboard.
I've been through this technote http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300562 on "How to use your PowerBook G4 or MacBook Pro with the display closed and a Bluetooth keyboard or mouse" and this http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86524 "What to do if "Allow Bluetooth devices to wake this computer" option is not available"
I've updated my BT software, updated firmware but still 'Allow Bluetooth devices to wake this computer' remains greyed out! Meaning everytime I close the lid on my PB when an external display is connected my computer goes to sleep.
    Please, anyone able to help?

You have not applied the Apple Bluetooth Firmware Updater. To use this option several steps are required in the following order:
Download the Apple Bluetooth Firmware Updater
    Install it
Launch it from Applications > Utilities > Bluetooth Updater
Apply it to your adapter (takes very long).
In most cases step 3 is missed. You have to start the already installed updater yourself (do not ask me why).
Additionally you might have broken your Apple Bluetooth Software. Apply the Mac OS X v10.4.5 combined updater which contains the latest version.

  • Lost ability to set up bluetooth devices

I'm running OS X 10.9.4 on my iMac. I have a Bluetooth keyboard which pairs at startup without problem. I also have a Bluetooth device for my hearing aids (UDirect2 from Unitron) which should allow me to stream the sound from my Mac wirelessly via this device to my hearing aids. When I first got the device I successfully paired it and got it to work. For a while it appeared in the list of Bluetooth items in the dropdown Bluetooth menubar menu, but it's disappeared from the list. I haven't been able to stream computer audio to my hearing aids since it disappeared.
Everything I've seen tells me I need to choose the "Set up Bluetooth Device"  menu option. But that option has disappeared from my Bluetooth menu. It's also not present on the Bluetooth menu I can get to through System Preferences. I know it used to be there, because I've used it before, but not since I updated the OS. Online help refers to the Bluetooth Setup Assistant, but there is no item on my computer by that name, and the Apple site after referring to it simply shows the Preferences pane, which does not include the "Set up Bluetooth Device" command on it--at least on my computer.
Is there something I'm missing? How can I get the setup command back?
The UDirect 2 pairs successfully with my iPhone and streams sound from it, so I know it's working. It rests in its charging cradle when I'm not actually using it and its power light shows it's fully charged.
    It is turned on.

Same here. I've just had a replacement iPhone and I have been into the bluetooth settings to pair it with my MacBook. But I couldn't find the setup bluetooth device option anywhere. Going to the folder Eric mentioned above works, but I'm curious to know where the correct link has gone?

  • Can I use more than one bluetooth device at a time with my iphone4

Can I use more than one bluetooth device at a time with my iphone4

    Anthony
I have a Plantronics 975 earpiece that works very well with my Razr.  I
just got a Panasonic KX-TG7873S phone system for my home, it has a
"Link-to-Cell" cellular convergence solution, from what I understand it is
just Bluetooth enabled.  I have paired both device with my Razr.  In
settings, Bluetooth setting, both device show.  But only one device can
connect at a time.  If my Plantronics is connected and I choose the
Panasonic device, the Plantronics device disconnects and the Panasonic
device then says it is connected.  Both devices work when they
are connected.  Is it because they are both "headsets"?
So, to have to remember to connect to one or the other device, depending on
weather I am coming or going is not practical.

  • I'm not able to pair my iPad with my Logitech mini-Boombox. I was able to do this on my original iPad. I was having a problem on an unrelated matter, and the Apple store replaced it with a new device. Previously, all Bluetooth devices worked fine;

I'm not able to pair my iPad via Bluetooth with my Logitech mini-Boombox. I recently brought my iPad to the Apple Store for an unrelated problem, and they replaced it with a new device. The old device had no problem pairing with any of my Bluetooth devices. I'm only haveing the problem with my new device. I was able to pair it with my Apple wireless keyboard, but not the mini-Boombox. I think I've done everything that I've read in other forum posts: I've toggled the Bluetooth setting on and off; I've reset the iPad a couple times; I've turned off and on the mini-Boombox; I've recharged the mini-Boombox. What am I missing here, and how can I fix this?

  • Bluetooth devices not finding or connecting to iPhone 5 after update to iOS 6.1.3?

Is anyone else having this problem? This is also happening on my ipad 4th gen. Anyone have a solution for this? It is very frustrating!

I figured it out. On the device(s) that I was trying to connect there is a function on the device that makes it discoverable by your iPhone/iPad. Some devices have an actual button that is labeled "connect" on the bottom or in an inconspicuous place on the device. Others can activate this function by long holding the action button (like that on a Bluetooth headset) for 5+ seconds until the device goes into "discover" mode. Then your iPhone/iPad should be able to find the device and you can connect. If this does not work sometimes hard resetting the actual Bluetooth device will fix the problem. You will have to research your specific device as each one has a different sequence to accomplish this. I hope this helps!

  • Macbook Pro Retina 15, Stop bluetooth device during file I/O on Bootcamp Windows7

    Hi.
My Macbook pro Retina 15, Stop magic mouse & apple bluetooth keyboard during some file copy local folder or usb storege or nas on bootcamp windows7 pro 64bit.
I called apple korea. but they don't have answers. also It base on bootcamp windows, they can't support me
It only occure on my macbook pro retina on bootcamp. only bluetooth devices not own keyboard or touchpad.
    My iMac(2009late) does not problem.
Yesterday I clean setup bootcamp again, It still problem.
I just guess some bootcamp driver problem at ssd or bluethooth. Mac OS also OK.
First time I got new ratina, no problem. nothing to chaged. just update collectly.
Anybody help or same problem here?
    Thanks

I should point out, this happens with/without peripherals attached.. ILOK dongle was disconnected at the time of crash. I will however check for updates..
I have found somthing interesting tho - as it's out of warranty I downloaded a fan controller and forced the fans to full speed... The MacBook played video for hours, no problems. I believe this is a overheating issue because they fans just do to turn spin fast enough without being forced... Or it could be dust?
I'm going to have Genius Bar clean it out if the will?.,.

  • Must reboot for Bluetooth devices upon waking...

I have this chronic problem where I wake up the computer and there is no Bluetooth. Meaning no keyboard or mouse either. No amount of trying to restart Bluetooth or telling to to "connect" will help. The only solution is to reboot the computer. Upon rebooting, devices are connected as normally.
Is this a known problem? It seemed to start with the 10.6.3 update a month or so ago. It sure is annoying when it happens.
This is an Intel MacBook Pro with Magic Mouse and Apple BT keyboard.
    HELP!

It seems like this is only a problem with the external display attached, or when the computer goes to sleep after pulling out the power plug. The Bluetooth devices don't seem to be disconnected when the computer is woke up while the display is not connected. Over the next several days I will look closer at the cause.

  • Why doesn't my bluetooth menu give me the option to "Set Up Bluetooth Device"?

Computer: 13.3 in Macbook Pro (2012)
I just bought a new bluetooth mouse (Gear Head Optical Mouse for Mac Computer).  The instruction manual tells me to click on the Bluetooth icon at the top right of my screen and click on "Set Up Bluetooth Device".  But when I tried that, my bluetooth pull down menu only gives me limited options, none which includes "Set Up Bluetooth Device". (see attached image)
I've already tried restarting my computer, going through the Bluetooth Preferences, and trying to connect via Mouse in System Preferences.  Does anyone have any ideas on where I might be doing something wrong or if I need to install anything additional?  Any help is appreciated!!

Following are instructions from help in the Bluetooth Preferences:
Make sure the device you’re setting up has charged batteries and is turned on.
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Keyboard, Mouse, or Trackpad. If you’re setting up a mouse or trackpad, follow the onscreen instructions. When your mouse or trackpad is discovered, it automatically pairs with your Mac.
