Bluetooth disappeared from Hardware on Mavericks

Hi,
well I never used the Bluetooth since now I get a bluetooth speaker, so I relased the Bluetooth preferences disappeared from the Panel "System preferences" and also from the "System information" ***???
I don't know exactly when the bluetooth was gone, since I never used it and I always have it OFF form the System Preferences.
Some changes happened to my macbook since time ago, so if anyone can help me please with some ideas, I appeciate it, here are the tips for this puzzle:
- Macbook pro 15' mid 2010, 2.53 GHz Intel i5, came with Snow Leopard.
- I replaced the RAM, so I have 2 x 4 GB, total 8 GB.
- Had a problem with the video card (after updating to Mountain Lion) many kernel panics, the issue was this: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3114550
- Apple relace my motherboard appling the replacement plan: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4088?
- HD resulted damaged (after all the kernel panics).
- I added a SD (120 GB) insted of the HD, and install a clean OSX Mavericks.
- Replace the Superdrive DVD with a HD (500 GB).
I just tried to reset the PRAM and SMC, erase the SystemPreferences folder form Preferences, Library and also reinstalled Mavericks from the Restore partition, non of this worked for me.
thank's a lot!
bye

I'm auto replying myself, because after some tests I did, I was eble to found the problem, and may be I can help somebody with a strang problem like mine
Well, all was my fault, when I replaced the Superdrive DVD with the SD I took off the cable that connects the wifi and bluetooth so I took it off again and I could see one of the little pins was strange, like folded itself, so I put that pin straight and now is working fine. I was not that careful I thougth when I replaced the DVD myself, so even if you are sure you can do it well, you have to be super super careful once you open your mac or send it to a service if you don't want any "surprise"
cheers!

Just installed OSX Mavericks. Bluetooth disappeared from menu bar and system preferences panel. I use a Magic Mouse but my iMac no longer recognizes it as such, and I can no longer use it to scroll screen. What happened?

Since Mavricks installed: My Spotlight icon disappears from the menu bar, but the space stays there. If I click on the blank space where the
spotlight icon is supposed to be - the spotlight menu opens. So, for me, the icon is there, it works except that it is invisible at times. IF I do a re-start it is there. If I let the computer set, sleep or other wise stay on for days, the icon will hide and re-appear at random.

Download and install this update combo. This update combo for Snow Leopard can bring any version of Snow Leo up to 10.6.8 with the lastest version of App Store for Snow Leo.

  • Windows 7 disappear from bootcamp after  maverick installation

Windows 7 disappear from bootcamp after  maverick installation. What should I do to recover?
I did try co reinstall windows but it make the installation new (nothing remain from the previous). Old windows partition seems lost.

Hi Jack.........ok ive managed to create a link to that video on how to install bootcamp.....this is the tutorial i used and i managed to gain 100% completion on bootcamp 1st time no messing......like i said in my previous reply did you save the windows support files from apple....(Critical).....ok no point in messing about i suggest you start again from scratch........these are the things i used and YOU will need to complete bootcamp
mem stick or cd-r / dvd-r......original copy disc of win 7 ...i never used an iso i used original disc....allow a minimum of 30gb of space for your win 7 partition.....if you want bootcamp so you can use big programs like windows based games i.e.....Crysis/Call of duty etc etc ..then you will need to consider that  you will need to allow a bigger partition to allow your HD to store the files.....this is the reason i installed bootcamp and so i made my partition    i have a 750GB HD so i made a partition of 300gb for windows 7 and left the other 450gb for Mac....so you need to partition enough for what you want bootcamp for remember once you get bootcamp working you will need to install ALL Important Windows updates Including Win 7 SP1......once everything is installed you will have bootcamp up and running lovely.....u can then boot up with either win7 or mac......click this link and watch carefully and do exactly as shown ok and you should be fine...if you have any probs contact me again ok.....let me know how you get on ok..:)...http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=fvwp&v=QFIWtXTl4d0&NR=1

  • Exchange Archive folder disappears from Mac Mail (Mavericks)

My Exchange 2013 Archive mailbox folder keeps disappearing from Mac Mail (Mavericks). When it does, the mailbox/folder shows 0 messages and 0 size in the Account info box. To temporarily solve the problem, I disable the account, quit mail, and reenable the account. Then the Archive folder/mailbox reappears. This happens several times per day. By the way, the folder is still visible on Outlook Web Access and through the Outlook client. It is simply invisible to Mac Mail. Does anyone know how to solve that?

Well, somehow, it disappeared after 10.8.2. and the following fixes which had no numbers.
Mail startet and told me, that Mailbox is somehow adapted and now everything works fine.
    Strange....

  • Bluetooth disappeared from system preferences and menu bar...

My bluetooth preferences disappearead from system preferences as well as the menu bar. I discovered this because my bluetooth mighty mouse stopped working. I tried replacing the batteries but nothing happened. I used my trackpad to click on the bluetooth icon on my menu bar and told it to connect to my mouse, which was there in the list. I got the swirling ball and so restarted my computer, when it came back, bluetooth was gone from the menu bar and system preferences, so now I don't know how to reconnect my mouse.
I tried resetting the PRAM and NVRAM as recommended by another post, I tried it twice as the instructions outline, but I haven't had any success.
I have tried doing spotlight for bluetooth in system preferences, this takes me to keyboard and mouse, then I get this message:
"The Bluetooth tab of Keyboard & Mouse preferences is hidden because you don't have a Bluetooth module installed or attached to your computer."
When I do a spotlight on the entire system, I get a result for bluetooth in system preferences, when I click on that, I get this message:
"You cannot open “Bluetooth” preferences pane because it is not available to you at this time. You might need to connect a device to your computer to see this preferences pane."
But, the irony is, that I can't connect a bluetooth device without this option in preferences. Also, in utilities, I remember that there used to be a bluetooth setup assistant, and that is not longer there.
I realize other threads have come up on this, but I haven't found anything besides deleting the plist, restarting, and resetting the PRAM and NVRAM (whatever that is). I've tried this but haven't been successful so I'm looking for more ideas.

    HI Daniel,
    Try deleting this file.
    com.apple.preferencepanes.cache
    ~/Library/Caches.
Move that file to the Trash and restart your Mac.
If that doesn't help, download and install the 10.5.8 combo update available here.
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/MacOS_X_10_5_8_ComboUpdate
It's ok to do this even though you are already running 10.5.8.
Make sure and repair disk permissions after the installation.
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

  • Bluetooth disappeared from System Preferences

When I fired up my PowerBook G4 this morning my Bluetooth is no longer available. When I go to System Preferences the Bluetooth preference is not there. I've rebooted to no avail.
I've also noticed funny things with the Bluetooth icon in the menu bar ever since upgrading to Tiger. The location of the icon keeps moving to the spot next to Spotlight. It won't stay where I put it.
Has anyone else run into this problem?

Updating to 10.4.6 caused me to lose Bluetooth on my 17" Powerbook G4. I zapped the PRAM (3 times, as was suggested in an earlier post), dumped the Bluetooth preferences, and even re-installed the System Update. Still no Bluetooth.
The Bluetooth was working perfectly prior to the update. Now the System Profiler indicates there is no Bluetooth on this machine, which, of course, is not true.
    Any ideas?

  • Bluetooth disappears after mountain lion install

After install of Mountain Lion, Bluetooth disappears from system preferences.
    Worked fined before install.
System now indicates bluetooth hardward not available.

Any luck on finding a resolution? When booting up in safe mode the BT comes back. Apple support was unsuccessful in finding a solution. I guesss an OSX update in is the works????

  • Bluetooth disappeared after a restart...Says theres no hardware. MacBook UB

    Hi guys,
I am new to Mac, and this MacBook is my first one to own. I recently had to hold down the power button, because my computer would not respond, or wake from the screen saver. When I turned it back on, the Bluetooth icon in my menu bar, was gone, and so was the System Preferences pane. Do you guys have any idea what happened? I also searched in Spotlight Bluetooth, and opened Bluetooth Explorer. It said there was no Bluetoth hardware... I recently have installed the iPhone 2.0 free SDK, if that helps. I do have regular Time Machine backups to a USB external drive. Thanks for anything, Ryan.

Thanks for the solution My bluetooth works after trashing my plist and resetting the PRAM.
However, it is only a temporary one. Every time I close my MacBook lid to put it to sleep it does not wake up at all. I have to force shutdown by holding on to the power button for a few seconds and restart.
Upon restart, my bluetooth disappears again. This happens every time I put my MacBook to sleep by closing the lid. I am lost as to why this is happening.
Now I have to shutdown completely all the time. Hopefully the bluetooth issue will not crop up again. But Apple should do something about this problem soon.
    Thanks again.

  • Mavericks mail reply message disappears from screen

Using Mavericks 10.9.1 and mail, when I hit reply to a message, the reply window pops up and disappears from the screen not to be brought forward again even though it is listed in the window dropdown. This action only occurs when I have my MacBook Pro attached to an external monitor. When I detach the monitor replying to a message works fine. I don't want to constantly attach and deattach though just to answer an email. Suggestions? Bug?

What type of mail account is this (POP, IMAP, .Mac)?
Verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described here:
The Repair functions of Disk Utility: what's it all about?
Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Network, choose Network Port Configurations from the Show popup menu, and make sure that the configuration used to connect to Internet appears at the top of the list.
Try disabling Search .Mac For Certificates in Keychain Access > Preferences if it’s enabled. Take a look at the following articles for an explanation of why this could be the problem:
    http://www.hawkwings.net/2006/07/18/apple-mail-phones-home-too/
    http://www.macgeekery.com/tips/mailapp_doesnt_phone_homeeither/
BTW, are you really using Mac OS X 10.4.2, as your profile indicates? Is there a reason you haven’t updated your system since then?

  • OS X Mavericks 10.9.4 download disappears from application folder after completion, why?

    Hello!
When i download os x mavericks 10.9.4 from app store it disappears directly after completion which means that I can't make a usb install of the dmg file?
    Best Regards!

...when i download the full installer it runs directly after the download is complete which means that i don't have enough time to start copying the installation file to another location before it disappears from the application folder...
Normally, when the installer is downloaded, it opens automatically but then waits for some input from you. That's when you can quit the application and copy it. Since what you describe sounds like the actual installation completes very quickly, something else is happening because the installation can take quite a while, followed by a reboot.
However, it's been my experience that if there is a version of the installer saved somewhere else on your boot drive, that version will be replaced by what you've downloaded, and since it's not likely you saved it exposed in the Applications folder, the app looks like it disappeared when it's actually gone to another directory. What I do is search on the app name, "Install OS X Mavericks" (I use EasyFind, which is very fast), and when more than one shows up in the list, I look for today's date.

  • After Mavericks update, Contacts visually disappeared from UI.

Contacts have visually disappeared from the Contacts UI application on the Mac -  "All Contacts"
Also under "My Mac"  none of the groups names have contacts either, however all is not lost.
    The data is there.
Both "look for dupulicate" as well as searching using the dashboard widget, reveals the data is there;  the former by number, the later by card.
How to get the contact data to reappear in the standard Contact UI again?
    Thank you.

Thanks Eric. I was syncing with iCloud, just not my contacts (for reasons re: Mavericks and Apples forced position). However, I did follow your directions but no joy and did go ahead and toggle on Contacts to sync after I logged out and then back in.    The only difference I noticed was the Contacts preferences default account selection put the iCloud selection at the left, thus did reorder the left side of the Contacts UI based on my selection.  In the end, no contact data appeared in the contacts app UI so still no joy.
