Bluetooth disaster

Hey Apple Community,
I need help, I am so frustrated.
So my question is: How do I block my Macbook bluetooth from connecting to a specific device (like a headset) so that it will never ask to connect to it. Of course the solution cannot be to disable bluetooth, because I use it with my mouse and keyboard!
To explain: I bought a Motorola Headset H12 and paired it with my macbook to use it in Skype. It worked, but EVERYtime I hooked it to charge it would disconnect and when someone called I could never pick up the headset and answer. There were other issues, but that is not the problem I am facing now. I paired it with another PC laptop and it works great EXCEPT, everytime the bluetooth headset becomes available my macbook asks if I want to pair the headset. I reject and it pops up 5 seconds later, so I have to turn my bluetooth off (I use bluetooth mouse and keyboards) in order to pair it correctly with the PC.
Help is greatly appreciated!!

Hello r:
Welcome to Apple discussions.
Open system preferences>bluetooth. Is the headset listed there? If it is, delete it. If it is not, there are other steps one may take.
Incidentally, there is a separate Bluetooth forum here:

My home wireless is no longer recognized, even going through the set-up process.  It does not connect to the car through Bluetooth seamlessly--I have to add my phone as a new device each time I get in the car.  In attempting to solve these problems I have gone to settings-phone-upgrade and it states that the upgrade is available-select to continue-(which I do)- it checks -please wait and it then states that update not available - try later.

Maybe not too late to help you.
For specifically fixing the Bluetooth, un-pair your phone with the car, and go through the process of repairing the two.
In general, the KK update requires many of us (different phones) to perform a Factory Data Reset after we back up our personal content (pictures, music, movies, or other downloaded files) to a PC or MAC. This will result in you having to do a bit of work to setup icons for the programs you use, and maybe putting in the specifics again for email accounts and other specialized apps. So if you are going to do this sort of thing... copy important information/settings down on paper.
    HTH.

  • Firefox plugin breaks after Bluetooth audio switching

Tracked down a bug to the FF flash plugin: On XP sp2 using FF
2.0.0.12 and Flash 9.0.47.0 (rolled back from the 9.0.115.0
disaster) after starting then stopping a Bluetooth audio session
(a2dp), Flash no longer plays audio/video. All the usual sites stop
working (youtube, cnn video, imeem, etc) I can get it to start
working again only by restarting Firefox.
Background info: when using Bluetooth headphones, XP's audio
output is routed to the Bluetooth receiver (in my case, by a
Broadcomm bluetooth stack) After ending the session, the audio is
routed back (eg to the desktop speakers). Flash handles being
routed to the receiver, but not being routed back.
I know it's not FF itself, b/c other FF multimedia plugins
handle the transitions fine (eg. quicktime). I know it's specific
to the FF version, b/c on IE, the flash plugin works fine after
    Bluetooth switches.
Anyone have any similar problems? Restarting FF doesn't sound
like a problem, but with many tabs open, it takes forever.
I'll try sending this in to Adobe, but after seeing their
(non)response to the buggy as fcuk 9.0.115.0 player, I doubt they
even test their FF version, let alone follow up on bug
    reports.

    *bump. Any ideas anyone?

  • Mystery: Thinkpad's bluetooth range suddenly reduced

Tl;dr: My Thinkpad's Bluetooth broadcast range suddenly dropped to a mere few feet. Afaik it's not about the headset, not about the drivers and not about the antennas.
Hello, I was hoping somebody could help me with a problem that has left me completely puzzled.
I have a Thinkpad S531 which has been upgraded with Intel centrino N 2230 wireless card - the rig has worked flawlessly for more than a year. I often use a wireless Bluetooth headset to listen to music, not wanting to annoy my neighbours.
Recently however the range of Bluetooth dropped dramatically. I can still connect and pair devices no problem -  and the headset functions if I sit in front of the notebook -  but should I step a few feet away from the audio starts breaking and dropping. (Previously the Bluetooth had range in my entire apartment.)
    So far I have tried..
    - resetting and recharging the headset, they work perfectly with my phone and SO's thinkpad
    -uninstalling and reinstalling drivers
    -reinstalling Win7 (was overdue anyway)
-popping open the maintenance cover to see if any antenna wire has come loose (unlikely as Wi-Fi performance remains unchanged)
All in all I have no more ideas. What could cause the range to be reduced so suddenly and decisively, without affecting other wireless performance?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Bluetooth range suddenly drops 80% on PowerPC G4 laptop

It's been flawless for 2+ years. Then yesterday, upon awakening from a 2-hour nap, the laptop's Bluetooth went bad. It will only see the (recommended) Kensington Si670m mouse when the mouse is physically located ON the laptop case. When mouse is in its usual place 10" away, the onscreen response is jumpy, erratic, useless.
The Apple bluetooth keyboard also has less range than it had, but it's good for 4 feet, far more than the mouse. It used to be effective from more than twice that distance.
No change when I put in fresh batteries, re-install mouse, reboot, or power down. A tech friend said it sounds like the Bluetooth circuit board needs replacing. Is this what someone handy with microtools can do with a 1.5 Ghz PowerPC G4? Can I buy a Bluetooth circuit board? Do they come with installation instructions? Are there choices and guidance about these boards?
    Thanks. Appreciate any help.

  • Wireless keyboard bluetooth Lumia 820

Ok I'm a disaster with the touch pad on ANY phone (not Lumia's fault), so I bought this nice mini bluetooth keyboard.
    So far so good.
I charged the keyboard and pushed the connect button and voila my Nokia recognizes the bluetooth device.
When I click connect it tells me I have to put an authorization code on the device I'm trying to connect (the keyboard), but I can't really do that ... sure I can push the buttons but that doesnt make much sense does it?
After that it asks to put in the code that belongs to the keyboard (which doesnt have a code) I tried both the code the Lumia gave me as well as 0000 (standard for most bluetooth) but nothing worked.
I get the whole put in code and ask for response code. It works fine when I connect my Lumia to my PC this way. However with this keyboard it doesn't... anyone have any experience in doing this?

Thanks for that answer. The box of the keyboard said it would work but what do they know.
I will no longer waste time trying to fix it then Perhaps hand it to my roommate (who has an android phone).
I do hope in the future it will work because I kind of need it to type propperly

  • Jabra Halo stereo bluetooth headset skipping with IPAD...

Hi, does anybody here have ever used a Jabra Halo Bluetooth Headset with an IPAD or Iphone? I just recently bought this device and paired with my IPAD and iphone 3gs, and I'm very disappointed, sound quality is great, but the audio keeps skipping every once in awhile, very annoying especially if watching a video or listing to podcasts, perhaps there's a setting that I have missed? any advise would be very helpful, My firmware by the way is ios 4.2 thanks...

To be clear this is NOT an issue with Stereo Bluetooth headsets, it is a problem with the chipset in Apple's iPhone and iPad.
Prior to the iPhone 3 I had a T-Mobile Dash with stereo bluetooth and it worked beautifully. When I got the iPhone 3 the bluetooth was a disaster with skipping and dropping the connection.
I eventually went over to a Sprint EVO and the stereo bluetooth paired with my $300 Nokia noise canceling headphones was awe inspiring. I purchased an iPhone 4 and it arrived yesterday. Today I listened to those same headphones and got skipping and it even unpaired for no reason at all.
The issue with the iPhone 4 seems to be that when the screen is active there is no problem. However, when you lock the screen it starts skipping.
So, I just wanted to point out that stereo bluetooth has been broken on the iPhone for at least two generations and apparently on the iPad too which is extremely disappointing. It's not the headset mfg, its Apple.

  • HELP! Rep had me load 10.3 on my Q10....DISASTER

A BB Customer Service Rep had me load 10.3.700 onto my Q10. The result is a disaster. My phone has become useless. Here are SOME of the problems: Phone calls will come in, but will not ring or vibrate (yes, all the settings are set to ring normally), phone will not alert me to new messages other than with a blinking light, phone has limited icons, including no icons for my pictures, documents, etc, which are on the phone, but are now inaccesable, phone will not work with the bluetooth in my car and on and on.
A BB subsequent rep admitted that the first rep made a mistake in putting 10.3 on my phone. The second rep also told me I cannot go back to a version of 10.2. She is out of ideas.
My carrier does not support blackberry phones.
Does anyone have any suggestions before i join the millions of others in going to a different phone.

Its a mono bluetooth paired with the phone.
I dont want to buy a new stereo headset but can i use this same one.

One way is to sync the contacts from the old iPhone to iCloud. Then when you turn on the new phone and set it up for iCloud and turn on the Contacts in Settings >iCloud, they will come to the new phone. http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/

  • How do I make Iphone proritise answering with bluetooth rather than ringing on phone?.

Previously, when I received a phone call in my car, the bluetooth radio would ring and then I would take the call by pushing button on steering wheel. Ever since installing latest IOS the bluetooth device connects but the phone just vibrates (doesn't even ring) The radio shuts off but the audio ring does not sound. Have to answer the phone manually. Defeats the purpose of having handsfree!! I note that when I phone voicemail while in car the screen shows options to use bluetooth, Iphone or speaker phone. When I am in the car I JUST want to use handsfree bluetooth (it is the LAW!!). Is this just a glitch in the new operating system update? and if so, when will it be repaired?

You can't. If iPhoto is open when you connect the phone then it will offer itself from importing.

  • Continuity Bluetooth Calling & SMS on Macbook Pro (via iPhone 5) Not Working

    Devices:
Macbook Pro Mid-2010 running OSX 10.10.2
    Iphone 5 running iOS 8.1.3
*NOTE: I understand that due to the version of the Bluetooth protocol in my machine, not all continuity features are available (Handoff, Air Drop, MBP Instant Hotspot)
However SMS to IMessage and the ability to make and receive calls from my Mac should be OK according to Apple's system requirements one-sheeter:
System requirements for Continuity on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Mac - Apple Support
    ================================================================================ =====================
    Here's my problem.
I finally took the plunge last night and updated my iPhone 5 from 7.1 to 8.1.3 to access the iCloud Drive and additional continuity features integrated into Yosemite.
When I tried to pair my iPhone 5 with my MBP over Bluetooth, all seemed to go well for the first 5 seconds.
    - Both devices were in discovery mode.
    - Mac saw the phone and displayed a security code
    - iPhone displayed the same security code and asked if I would like to pair with MBP
    - Pairing took place. Each devices Bluetooth profile / device showed up in my MBP Bluetooth's Preferences  and in my iPhone's Bluetooth.
    - 5 seconds later, there's no connection between devices.
    My iPhone displays:
"Connection Unsuccessful: Make sure [Macbook Pro] is turned on and in range." (The phone is 5 inches away)
Then sometimes I get this message:
"Connection Unsuccessful: [Macbook Pro] is not supported.
No rhyme or reason between the two either.
Here's the baffling part: When I activate my Phone's HotSpot function, the Bluetooth works and connects with my MBP allowing it to use my cell phone network's data for internet connectivity.
I don't understand what is going on or how to correct this? Can anyone succinctly explain how to correct this problems in layman terms?
If the devices can communicate long enough to exchange security codes and verify their identities, then use Hotspot,  there is clearly a data exchange happening. Where is the break down taking place when it comes time to stay connected to so I can continue to use the limited continuity features.
I've seen this question posted before by people having problems with different model years of MBP including the most recents models, so I know it's not mutually exclusive to my model year, but cannot seem to find clarity on an answer.

  • How Can I Use Bluetooth For Sharing With iPhones?

Hello, i have an iPod touch 3rd Gen. 32GB, And I'm Wondering How Could I Share Music or Photos With My Cousin's iPhone (Jailbroken iPhone), When I Turn The Bluetooth On, Nothing Shows Up On My iPod Or On Here iPhone,
So How Could I Share Things With Her I Have ''File Share'' And ''Bump'' Apps
    So what should I Do???

You can't share music over air or by Bluetooth because of several reasons of which is understandable by apple. Apple doesn’t provide any way for you to copy files from your iPod back to your Mac/ between iPods or iPhones. While there are legitimate reasons for blocking bi-directional copying— which again the word music piracy comes to the mind
The only thing that I heard that you could share with iPhone to iPhone/ iPod touch is photos&contacts an app called "bump" and "Bluetooth photo share". With those applications you and your friend can share photos/phone contacts and other kind of files.

Is there any way to get a log of the bluetooth devices my Iphone has been connected to?  I recenly had my Bluetooth Jabra stolen from my car and now a simliar one is on Craigslist.  I'd like to give my connection log to the police before I go and see if my Iphone recognizes the device in question.  Any way to get any type of bluetooth device connection log out of my iphone?

Your contacts should still be on whatever program you sync your iphone to (i.e. Outlook, address book).
The iphone is not a stand alone device. It is designed to be synced with a computer. If you have not been syncing with a compatible program, then you are out of luck. Your contacts are not included in the back-up because it is meant to be synced with your computer.
"Although iTunes backs up most of your iPhone and iPod touch settings, downloaded applications, and other information (Contacts, calendars, notes, images in the Camera Roll), your audio, video, and photo content are not included in the backup."
