Bluetooth Dongle for MacPro ('09 with Bluetooth)

Folks.
I am really keen on buying a Magic Trackpad to use with my Mac Pro (2.93Ghz 8 Core 2009 model with Bluetooth internal).
I purchased a Magic Mouse - only to find it was useless due to the poor Bluetooth reception. My Tower sits to my left under my desk in a compartment just for the tower - my right (mouse) hand is some 4.5 feet away from the Tower - The bluetooth signal has to pass through 2 thick layers of MDF. If I was left handed I'd be fine, however
Im worried the Magic Trakpad will have similar issues (ie: I won't  be able to use it).
So, what USB dongle is supported by MacOS X 10.6? Which one should I buy. I could stick it into the back of one of my 2 x 24" LED displays.
Any help is greatly appreciated - as I really want to be kitted up for multi-touch for when Lion arrives.
Scott

Ah ok, yeah removed the network settings.
Still not working. I've got fresh batteries in it. Pairing light is flashing on trackpad.
but im getting these screens:
Thanks

  • Replacement Graphics Card for Macpro 2008 with HDMI ports

    I have a Mac Pro 3,1 (2008) 2 x 2.8 Quad core with ATI Radeon 2600 XT Dual DVI.
I would like to replace this Card with something that has at least 1 HDMI out port that supports audio. I want to be able to use download/ iview features to watch TV shows on my HD LCD TV but sourced by the Macs browser.
The Current card only has DVI ports and does not support any audio so when connected to the TV I get picture, but no sound. Not Ideal !
I see that the cards on the Apple store don't have HDMI out.

I see that the cards on the Apple store don't have HDMI out.
The apple 5x70's have 2 mini-displayports and a dual link dvi port.  The 5770 requires one aux power cable and the 5870 requires two.
You can get just as good as the name brands but much cheaper priced adapters and cables through monoprice.com.  For example, the mini-displayport to HDMI adapter:
Mini DisplayPort | Thunderbolt® to HDMI® Adapter w/ Audio Support
There are many people who have put a 5770 into a 2008 mac pro.  Here's a google search of "5770 in a 2008 mac pro" which shows many discussions of this and even a video.
There's also some discussions on this in these forums as indicated by the More Like This section on the right side of this page.

  • Modem options for MacPro use with Brother printer/fax/modem

I have a MacPro without a modem but could get and install one, I suppose. I have a Brother printer that, I think, will fax to and from the computer [MFC-8670-DN] but can't set it up without a modem of course. I do have a modem in a Cube that still works.
Wht's the best way to go? Get modem and install in MacPro, use Cube and PageSender or somehow work out Cube send/receipt but ultimately connecting to MacPro?
Thanks for any help in figuring this out. I want to fax from MacPro desktop and receive to MacPro desktop. I do have Page Sender but no modem in the MacPro, thus the issue.

You can purchase the USB Modem from Apple for around $49.

  • Suitable bluetooth dongle for Java development

I'm a student studying computer science, and I'm looking to utilise bluetooth in my final year project. I've already got a few good books, but they all assume that you have compatable bluetooth hardware. My question is can anyone recommend me a good reliable compatable usb bluetooth dongle for use with java on linux and/ or Windows?

    Hi gimbal2,
I'm not just google all these packages, I downloaded them, tried them, and faced problems, so I asked here to make sure that I'm in the right track.
I want to ask also about Impronto Simulator? Where I can find it since it is not availabe in http://rococosoft.com/about.html ??

  • Very compatible Bluetooth Dongle for Nokia 6110 Na...

I was having a lot of problems connecting to my PC using my existing Belkin Bluetooth Dongle. After a lot of searching and reviews I bought the D-Link DBT-122 and wish to point out that this works like a dream with the above phone and apparently all others using the same software. Also I noticed during installation some software was installed on the phone itself and now the volume in my car using the Nokia Bluetooth Handsfree has increased tremendously. I had almost give up trying to use Bluetooth on this phone but what a pleasant change the Dlink has been. Highly recommeded for the Nokia 6110 or others running the same software.

I bought a Belkin Bluetooth dongle for my 6120c.
But when the program starts It gives the Windows 'Blue Screen' and the computer restarts.
Since then i have had no idea on what dongle to buy.
    Are you running Vista?

All USB network devices are to be avoided, if possible. They depend on complex third-party software that's often of poor quality and is prone to cause system instability. The software is rarely, if ever, updated, and may stop working entirely when OS X is updated. Use a mobile Wi-Fi or Bluetooth hotspot, either a mobile phone or a dedicated device—no software needed.

  • Snes emulator for mountain lion with support for usb controller dongle

    Hi,
I recently downloaded an snes emulator online and found that it does run the super nintendo game fine though it doesn't have support for the usb dongle for the controller. By any chance does anyone know a emular plug in or emulator for mountain lion that has this support for a usb joystick.

Thanks for the reply. Still curious if Apple did right by their customers as the support rep implied that they would. I can't confirm either because I discovered tonight that I can't upgrade to Mountain Lion yet until Mariner Software decides to make one of their products compatible with 10.8.  Starting to think I need to find an alternative to their product.

  • Best phone for Sync-ing with iCal?

I'm due to upgrade my mobile and wondered which is the best available handset for Sync-ing with a mac. At present I have the Sony Ericson K750i which was working fine up until I upgraded to Tiger.
    Any ideas?

Has anybody had any experience syncing the Motorola
    KRZR with iCal?
I own a Motorola KRZR K1m (Sprint), which is supposedly supported by iSync 2.4. This seems to be a troublesome phone in regard to compatibility with iSync. If you read the iSync discussions, you will see many problems. Those that do get iSync to accept the KRZR as "supported" seem to still have problems with iCal in particular. Evidently, there are some system hacks available to force the sync to work with iCal. If you are not comfortable with getting inside files and re-writing code, then you may not be a happy camper.
Naturally, if you have access to a Windows machine, you will have no problem. (... Getting ready to duck, since that last statement will draw out all the Apple apologists and Apple-employee-wannabes ...)
Personally, I have had no success getting iSync to recognize my KRZR at all. While I can transfer files via bluetooth, the iSync issues make me wish I had some other phone. In fact, the iSync/KRZR issues are probably going to lead me to change to another (known to be supported) phone. Since I'm stuck with Sprint, that won't be easy.
    Good luck!

  • Hello Mac Friend, do you have any idea the compatible of 1333Mhz 16GB ecc module for MacPro late 2012 ?

Hello Mac Friend, do you have any idea the compatible of 1333Mhz 16GB ecc module for MacPro late 2012 ?

You can spend months developing the expertise to choose exactly the right modules for a one-off purchase of RAM for your Mac.
Or you can deal with a Mac-centric Vendor who already knows this information and will provide the correct modules for your exact model Mac, and stand behind them, for about the same price. Deal with Vendors who say:
    "It works in your Mac,
    or your money BACK."
In the US, OWC (at MacSales.com) provides good support
Many readers recommend crucial, I personally do not.
I do most of my business with DataMemorySystems.com, as they tell you exactly what they are sending and have slightly better prices than OWC.
If you are in another part of the world, please respond with what markets are available to you and readers can make additional recommendations.
EDIT: 16GB DIMMs for this Mac are Registered DIMMs, and are subject to special rules:
They do not mix with other sizes AT ALL.
At most 3 modules of this size can be installed on each SIDE (6 total on the 8-core and 12 core)

  • ATI Radeon X1900 XT only for MacPro?

I Just noticed this this morning at Apple's Online Store ( US )
"ATI Radeon X1900 XT Graphics Upgrade Kit US$ 399.00"
I wonder if this will work in the G5 with Dual Cores ( and Quad ) PCIe ?

Ok thanks Jewell, What a Bugger eh?
X800XT for PCI-X G5's and ATI Radeon X1900 XT for MacPro's and nothing for the PCI-E last generation G5's! (unless you BTO).
I have seen your posts here about the lack of video card upgrades for the Quad, and I feel for you ... it's got to be exasperating !!
It will not unfortunately. Its to do with the way
video cards are recognised by the host system and the
    x1900 is for MacPro only.
    However.
Joe Schorr has confirmed in these forums that ATI
will be releasing a dual-core G5 edition of the x1900
(?) card which would finally make this Apple's first
video upgrade card since the dual-core G5 (quads)
were launched in October 05. Way to go Apple...
I read your repost of it.

  • ATI Radeon X1900 XT driver for MacPro

I put an ATI Radeon X1900 XT for MacPro in my 2 x 3 GHz MacPro. It displays only 1280 x 800 on my 30" Cinema. Do I need to install a driver, and if so, where to get the driver since card did not come with CD and AMD site has not posted a driver?
    2 x 3 GHz MacPro   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    zspike --
You don't need drivers -- they're built in to the OS. However, it would be nice to use the ATi displays panel, so you can turn on various app-specific speed settings and features like full-screen antialiasing.
Now, version 4.5.9 of ATi Displays is a Universal Binary, but ATi in their infinite wisdom have made it so that it WILL NOT install on a Mac Pro, only a G5.
But there's a way around this:
    http://forum.macbidouille.com/index.php?showtopic=199963
Have a look at post No. 8. Simply put the displays.app in your /Applications/Utilities folder, and run it from there. Runs no problem. I couldn't get the Prefs Pane to work, but all that does is launch the Displays.app
    Have fun!

  • HT1695 can i get broadband dongle for ipad

hello just had loads of problems while in goa with my ipad thought idea of the ipad was for compact use and travel i took  with me so i could check emails etc but struggled to find wifi can you get a pay as you go  dongle for it has i am going to greece soon many thanks

If you didn't buy the 3G version of the iPad you can get a Mi-fi device, which creates a local WiFi network from a 3G connection.
For travelling purposes, you'll need an unlocked Mi-fi device and a local 3G SIM in whichever countries you visit.

  • Can a iPad be setup for tethered shooting with a Nikon dslr

Can a iPad be setup for tethered shooting with a Nikon Camera

Not as a standalone solution if you want stuff like live view and all the camera controls on the iPad. If it's just for transferring photos to the iPad for immediate viewing after shooting the Shuttersnitch app comes to mind. Shuttersnitch however requires a WiFi connection that most Nikons don't happen to have. Nikon's wireless dongles for the consumer range of cameras are also somewhat awkward to use whereas the wireless/Ethernet units for the pro range happen to be very expensive. WiFi SD-cards are also a possibility for retrofitting WiFi but they tend to be unreliable, slow and their setup is quite often finicky.
Another solution would be tethering the camera to a laptop (Win or Mac) through USB and connecting the iPad as a secondary wireless tethering device to the computer. There are programs for Mac and Windows incorporating this feature. I once set this up for a friend who does a lot of studio work but it ended up that he just uses the USB-connected laptop almost exclusively. And unless one would be out for a timelapse shooting already carrying tons of gear not a solution for shooting in the field.
Last not least but also not exactly inexpensive is the Camranger remote control for Nikon and Canon DSLRs. It connects to the camera through USB and has its own server and WiFi built in which allows to connect to iOS, Android, Mac and Windows (apps for all available by Camranger themselves). Probably the most flexible and comfortable solution especially when considering that it can be used for multiple cameras and will mot likely also work with future cameras. More information can be found at http://www.camranger.com (I'm in no way affiliated with them and personally don't own a Camranger remote so I would advise some more web research on user experiences).
