Bluetooth dongle not discovering headset

My Kensington 33348 Bluetooth adapter is not discovering my new Plantronics Bluetooth headset on my Mac Pro. Headset is brand new and works fine with my phone. All you have to do to make it discoverable is literally turn it on. The 33348 dongle seems to be working with the Mac just fine too but when I try to use the discover function on the Mac It doesn't pick up the headset. I'm getting no headset icon and I don't get beyond that to enter any passkey. Any help here would be great thanks!

I contacted Kensington and the headset is not for use with computers. I thought bluetooth was a universal thing but it's the audio that is not.

  • Apple Bluetooth Keyboard not 'discovered.'

I just bought a new Apple Bluetooth Keyboard and a D-Link DBT-120 USB Bluetooth Adaptor.
Though System Preferences (10.3.9) shows Bluetooth and the Bluetooth icon appears in the menu bar... the keyboard refuses to be 'discovered.' I have tried numerous USB ports (both directly on my box and a USB 1.1/2.0 card installed) and have flipped the keyboard on/off switch back-and-forth for each USB port I've tried. Still the keyboard is not 'discovered.'
This is on a G3 B/W with numerous upgrades. Otherwise this box has been superb since I bought it right after it was originally released.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hey there GreggRocky,
It sounds like your bluetooth keyboard profile is setup in your Bluetooth preferences but is not pairing up like it is supposed to. I want to recommend removing the device from your bluetooth preferences and setting it back up.
    1. Choose Apple menu -> System Preferences.
    2. Click Bluetooth.
    3. Click Devices.
    4. Select the device you want to delete from the Bluetooth Devices listing.
    5. Click the Delete Pairing button.
    6. Click Delete or "Disconnect and Delete".

  • Bluetooth dongle not working on bootup

I have an usb bluetooth dongle, inserted it, started bluetooth daemon and everything worked just fine (using kde and bluedevil). However when i rebooted i discovered that during boot the dongle doesn't get initialized so i have to unplug and plug the dongle to make it work. • 8Bananas Bluetooth Dongle and Stereo Headset Review/Opinion

Anyone using the 8Bananas dongle or stereo bluetooth headset? I have searched for a review but I haven't found anything informative yet. RIght now they are selling the pair for $99, which seems like a fair deal.

How about you go read my original post before offering your opinion. I am not asking for anybody to do anything for me. I want to know about any first hand experience from somebody that owns the product. I am requesting this because there are no reviews that I know of.

  • Help with IOGear GBU521 USB Bluetooth Dongle not being recognized on 10.8.5

    Hey Everyone,
I've just plugged an IOGear GBU521 Dongle into my iMac since it seemed to be a popular Bluetooth 4.0 Dongle  for iOS development. However, it does not seem to be recognized as a bluetooth device only as USB. Before I return it, I thought I'd ask here for some help on things I can try to get it working.
I've read this: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5304985?start=15&tstart=0 . However, none of the tips there seem to be working.
    I've attached a screenshot of the info.plist file under System/Library/Extensions/IOBluetoothFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/BroadcomBluet oothHostControllerUSBTransport.kext/Contents
As you can see, the idProduct and idVendor that match the device are there under the BroadcomUSBBluetoothHCIController - MediaLink BT4.0 Adapter (even those what is plugged in is an IOGear GBU521). So I thought it would work "out of the box", but it's not. I installed this update: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1686? and it didn't have any effect.
My last thought is that my iMac(Haswell) doesn't have any USB 2.0 ports...I wouldn't think that would be the issue since USB 3.0 are supposed to be backwards compabitible, but some have suggested that might be the issue. Can anyone shed some light on the situation?
    Thanks,
    Mike

The format says Mac OS Extended.  All of the settings were set during the disk image restore process.  Even if I format the flash drive as extended journaled or some other format, all of these settings are reverted when I do the restore from the disk image.  I will just copy all of the information that disk utility has so that you can see it.

  • Ipad Bluetooth does not discover anything.

My iPad discovers three devices, including a Logitech keyboard. My wife's very new iPad's Bluetooth discovers nothing when in the same room and same proximity to those devices.
Is there some setting on her device we have overlooked that is preventing Bluetooth from working? Yes, bluetooth has been turned on and off.  Other devices (smart phones) also can detect the devices.  Only her iPad discovers nothing.  Anything else we should do or check?

Tried that. Turned Bluetooth off on my ipad. Followed manufacturer's directions for keyboard device to make it available to another iPad.  Nothing on her iPad was discovered.  But my HTC DNA phone did detect the keyboard device while the iPad still detected nothing.  The keyboard device also works on two other iPads.
So we have clearly ruled out the device not being in discoverable mode. There is some issue with her iPad.

  • TS1398 Bluetooth issue - not discovering my iPad

My iPhone 4S Bluetooth stopped discovering my iPad or any other Bluetooth device for that matter.
It is basically permanently stuck on searching

    Oh... Thanks
Funny I thought you need to have the Bluetooth paired before you can use the iPhone wifi but apparently that is incorrect.
Thanks for your help, this worked.

  • IPhone 4S bluetooth not discovering bluetooth devices

My iPhone 4S bluetooth is not discovering bluetooth devices, specifically my new Platronics Voyager Pro HD headset which worked just fine with the iPhone 4 even after the recent software upgrade.  I noticed that others are having bluetooth discovery issues as well.  Will Apple be addressing this problem with a software fix or is this a hardware problem?

  • Bluetooth not discovering jawbone headset

My new iphone will not discover my jawbone headset. It just searches with no response. The jawbone is on and does work cuz it worked with my treo, I even reset it.
    Any ideas?

Are you putting the Jawbone in pairing mode? Make sure it is turned on, (the white light flashing) then after you turn the bluetooth on your iPhone on, hold down the noise cancel button on the Jawbone, (the button behind the power button.) Your phone should ask for a pairing code, at that time enter 0000 then you'll be paired. Hope this helps.

  • Cannot pair Sony MW1 smart bluetooth headset with Avantree Saturn (bluetooth dongle)

How can I pair my Sony MW1 smart bluetooth headset with Avantree Saturn (bluetooth dongle)? It kept showing "codes not matching", which means the wrong passkey codes auto-entered. But I can't enter any right codes the Avantree Saturn needed ("0000","1111",.....). Or where can I find the information to solve the problem? Thanks!

  • Bluetooth dongle over usb extension/hub - can't use headset as audio input

I've been attempting to extend my bluetooth range by using a usb extension lead (with built in repeater) so that my bluetooth dongle is in the center of the house and thus maximize coverage, at first i had no problems at all -> i can send and recieve files using my phone and use my bluetooth headset (avro) as an audio output device and this all works fine and dandy BUT i cannot use my headset as an input device. There was another user who was having the same problem but they were using a usb hub.
There is a small fix to this -> don't use extension/hub but plug the dongle straight into a usb port on your mac, but this doesn't really help at all as it means i have to be in my room and can't use bluetooth over the rest of my house.
Is anyone else having similar problems and know of a way to fix it? I thought maybe the signal wasn't strong enough from the microphone, but even if i'm right next it doesn't work.. Maybe if i used a powered usb hub that would boast the usb?
Just to add, this is not a firmware problem or not pairing problem-> when dongle is connected directly to the mac it works fine, but when it is via the extension lead the sound bar doesn't change when i select my headset from in sounds output menu

I've plugged the extension cord into the usb 1 port on my keyboard (apple = genious) instead of the usb 2 port on the side of my emac and it works PERFECTLY....
Whilst this is odd, it works so i'm leaving this up incase anyone else has this problem
