Bluetooth explorer

I got a new Mac mini (late 2012). I need to reset bluetooth settings because my keyboard is always disconnecting after few seconds but works fine with my ipad. I installed Xcode to use bluetooth explorer but it is not in.

I know in Leopard I could Option "click" on the bluetooth symbol on the menu bar but this is no longer available.
When I do that with OS X 10.5.8, all I see vs. not using the "option" key is a couple of extra lines of status at the top of the drop-down menu.

Bluetooth Explorer crashes

I'm using a Macbook Pro (10.8.4). I'm trying to configure an USB bluetooth dongle. It's lightened but it's not working. Otherwise Bluetooth works well.
I tried to Modify Software & Device Configuration in Bluetooth Explorer, when I checkbox Delete link keys from the Bluetooth module, it crashes (cf below). It also crashes if I click Tools/Througput Test or RSSI Sweeper.
I reinstalled OS but Bluetooth Explorer still crashes.
Do you have any idea why it crashes? I think the problem that my dongle doesn't work is linked with the crashes in Bluetooth Explorer.

not sure if your consistent Bluetooth Explorer crashed similar like mine.
for me, the app is no longer crashing on my mac running 10.8.4 after i started to use older Hardware IO Tools distribution from Late July 2012 (Nov 26 2012)....while before that, it kept crashing whenever i attempted to launch when i used the latest Hardware IO Tools (Oct 22 2013).

Where can i find Bluetooth Explorer on Mountain Lion??

I have been searching for it for ages, all i want to do is to change the bitrate to 53 as my bluetooth speaker is plaing some crackling music.

It appears there are two programs called 'Bluetooth Explorer'. One made by Apple, which is part of the Xcode toolkit. And the above-mentioned one that is made by a private developer and is available in the Appstore.
I've got the feeling you are looking for the Apple made one, since that does give you information about the BluetoothAudioAgent. (something the Appstore one doesn't do) This program used to be installed as part of the Xcode toolset. But is now made available separately in a bundle called 'Hardware IO Tools for Xcode' (can be downloaded from the Apple developers webpage --you'll need a (free) developer account)
Now, that being said, you will indeed be able to change the audio bitrate with it. But Bluetooth Explorer does not give one too many options, for more improvemtents you will need to edit the plist: ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.BluetoothAudioAgent.plist
The Bluetooth Explorer is however very good for debugging the edits you made to this file.

Missing bluetooth explorer

Hi,
when pressing the alt key, the bluetooth menu entry contains additional entries to start the bluetooth explorer or to start the bluetooth diagnostic tool. I have a MacBook running OS X Version 10.9.5 where this tools seem to be not installed. I have the mentioned menu entries, but they have no effect.
Where can I get the bluetooth explorer?

I'm trying to implement a BLE server on a nrf51422 and thought I could use my MacBook as BLE client or at least use the OS X diagnostic tools to see if I could see the bluetooth devices in my office. So I came acrose the "Bluetooth Explorer" and "Bluetooth Diagnostic Utility"-Entries in the bluetooth menu but found them to do nothing when I select them.

Cannot install Bluetooth Explorer

I am having the same lion/bluetooth problems that many others are. I have downloaded and installed Xcode with the intention of using Bluetooth Explorer. Xcode is installed. Explorer does not show when I option-click on the bluetooth icon. What am I missing?

Found it after long search.
It is no longer part of xcode, but can be downloaded if you register as an Apple developer under developer.apple.com
-go to "Mac Dev Center"
-go to "additional downloads"
-search for hardware and download Hardware IO tools for Xcode.

Bluetooth exploring on N80

I want to be able to explore devices from my N80. The only way I cn seem to connect to someone else thru BT I have to go through the process of sending something, eg, a pic.
On a friends Samsung he can explore another device connected thru BT is this possible?
My N80 is on Orange purchased in June 2006 firmware v 3.0617.06 03-05-2006

Not nearly as big a deal as it could be.
Unless you have set the other user up as a confirmed bluetooth ID then the person who's phone you are trying to explore would have to "ok" your exploring...before you can go surfing through others ahem photos and other compromising data...
HTH and clarifies the extent that others could access your phone by.
It used to be available on the 6250, but may have revised with further f/w updates.

Bluetooth dropping after update to 10.6.8

The bluetooth connection between my Nokia BH-908 headsets and my mac mini periodically drops after I upgraded to 10.6.8.   Restarting blued daemon via Bluetooth Explorer does not fix the problem; I have to reboot the computer to restore the connection.   I've tried resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) and I attempted to delete the device and re-pairing it. Neither of those things worked, the headset sill drops periodically.    This is what the kernel logs say when the device drops:

Yes....It happens all the time. I also erased my HD and installed Snow Leopard but with no success. Tried lots of REBOOTING but nothing worked for me.As I have already installed the new OSX I think there is no need to go through the below procedure. What do you suggest?
Before you go through the ritual of reinstalling the entire system just try to do a "factory reset" of your bluetooth environment. To do this you need to run the Bluetooth Explorer which is a utility installed as part of XCode.
1. Launch Bluetooth Explorer.
2. Select the "Modify Software & Device Configuration" from the Utilities menu.
3. Keep the first 4 checkboxes checked (one will say "Full factory reset").
4. Click "Perform actions" button (lower right of window).
5. Reboot (possibly the Reboot NOW button will work, if not just do a normal reboot).
Hopefully that will clear your problem(s) so you can re-pair your bluetooth devices.

As batteries were getting low in my Magic Mouse I removed the old batteries and put in new charged ones, something I have done numerous times before without a problem. On this occasion I cannot get the mouse to pair with my computer for some reason. I have checked using Bluetooth Explorer and the dongle is shown as active. (The Blutooth provided in the Mac is useless hence the dongle) Any suggestions?

You can only pair it with one machine at a time. So you have to unpair it with one machine before yoou can pair it with the other.

Getting Contacts entered into Car's Bluetooth via PCMCIA Card & Macbook Pro

I have a iPhone 4 and have it paired to my Mercedes bluetooth. Contacts (which create the phone book in the car's bluetooth) have to be created using a PC MCIA memory card inserted in the vehicle.
Does anyone know how I can create the contacts with a Macbook Pro and get them to a PCMCIA card?

Have now tried to connect the MacBook Pro to the Lexus, but although the mac sees the Lexus as a headset (as it should) when I enter the Passcode, they fail to shake hands so the Mac is not added as a 'phone' on the Lexus. This is fairly understandable as the Mac will not be presenting its self as a Phone>Smartphone device, but rather a Computer>Laptop device.
I thought I could get it to spoof the Phone>Smartphone bit using the Bluetooth Explorer app, but that doesn't seem to work as I had hoped.
Something else I noticed using Bluetooth Device Inspector (http://www.radioactivetoy.com/), my OS 10.5.4 MacBookPro shows the following Bluetooth services:
Serial Port (SPP)
AV remote Control (AVRCP)
my iMac and iBook which are both on 10.4.9 show the following services:
OBEX Object Push (OPP)
OBEX File Transfer (FTP)
Serial Port (SPP)
It seems Mac OS 10.5.x has removed the OPP protocol from the Bluetooth device. I'm pretty sure OPP is what the Lexus would use to receive the Address Book data on a phone, so this would be needed.
As a result of this, I tried connecting the iBook to the Lexus, but still had the same connection issues as before, so I wasn't even able to test the contact transfer.
Unless someone knows how to get the mac to show as a mobile phone, I don't hold out much hope for this method of transferring contacts

Macbook Pro will not stay connected to 3Play Bluetooth Receiver

My brand new Macbook Pro Retina (2.3 Ghz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1600 Mhz DDR3, 500 GB memory, OSX 10.9.5) paired with the 3Play immediately and connected immediately, but would not stay connected over ten seconds. My IPad and my android Galaxy phone work perfectly. One website suggested that you have to download bluetooth explorer from Apple Developer and enable Apt-X. I could not find a download of that type on the Apple Developer site. Does anyone have a suggestion? I am brand new to OSX and am still kind of stumbling my way through; in other words, I am less than a novice! Thanks!

2 bluetooth dongels one MacBook Pro

do anyone know how to have 1 USB bluetooth dongle to windows 7 in parallels desktop 7 for use with a lego mindstorm and use the build in bluetooth for mac os x to a magic mouse
every time i plug in the usb dongle Mac os x gos ape **** and says theres no bluetooth and so the mouse stops working, and a restart is needed to get it working again. and parallels desktop is not taking control of the USB dongle fast enough to make mac os x not skewing up

Wow... finally I found someone with EXACTLY the same issue as me.
We got our son the Mindstorms NXT 2 last week. The Mindstorms program (latest iso image from the Lego support page) on the MBP-2011 under ML (OS X 10.8.1) works well with the USB cable, but crashes every time with the internal BT device of this MPB.
So I bought a cheap BT dongle (2.1 from HAMA) and at first I had trouble installing it on the MBP. The dongle was simply not recognized. Then I started Parallels 7 and all the sudden the dongle popped up on the Windows XP side. Then the MBP all the sudden saw it, too.
I started the Bluetooth Explorer, which I only found through Spotlight, and I could then pick in one of the utilities menus, which BT adapter the Mac should use. I picked the external dongle and then within the WinXP VM via the USB menu I could use this external BT dongle for transferring data to the NXT brick. No problem on the WinXP.
When I tried to do the same with the Mindstorms program on the Mac. It crashed every time independently of which BT adapter I chose.
In other words, the BT drivers and communication within Parallels-WinXP work, but the native drivers on the Mac host don't. Very strange and very inconvenient.
Did you find another solution, which works for you?

Macbook pro retina - Sennheiser mm450 bluetooth pairing problem

Sorry people but have, with surprise, comunicate a bluetotth pairing problem of my Sennheiser MM450 bluetotth headset with my new macbook pro retina 15".
No headset detected by may mac.
No problems with other bluetooth devices and this macbook.
No problems with this headset and iphone or other computer.
I'm very disapointed.

It may be necessary to turn on the aptX codec via Bluetooth Explorer -> Utilities -> Special Options
That did the trick for me.
The bluetooth explorer used to be available by pressing option then the bluetooth button, but now its bundled seperatly either with xcode or here :https://developer.apple.com/downloads/index.action?name=bluetooth%20explorer

Why Does Bluetooth Sound Like Pure Crap in OS X?

Using a brand new pair of Bluetooth Headphones running 4.0 with A2DP and a complete stack of other profiles.
Headphones sound amazing on my iPhone 5 and other devices (such as my iPad and Nexus) but they sound tragic on my MB Air 10.8
I've manually changed the Minimum Bitpool in Bluetooth Explorer from 40 to a max of 64 - nothing. Sounds terrible.
Is OS X sending out the signal via A2DP, what's going on here? Why isn't replicating the signal from my iPhone 5 for example?
Any ideas?

Just a suggestion, when you set up BT it makes two devices for output, one is a mono output, the other is a stereo output.
In the Sound applet, click the output tab and scroll down, make sure you have the stereo option selected. in mine I have MR010 and MR010 Stereo, but I have to scroll down the devices to see the stereo option.
