Bluetooth Files Sharing

The bluetooth Files Sharing app disappeared from my utilities folder. I don't know how to get it back... Please help!

Well the thing is I don't have any CDs that came with my computer.
Why? What happens if you ever need to do a re-install? All Macs come with installation DVDs.
I dont use Time Machine because I don't have any external hard drive
External hard drives are very cheap these days and can save you far more than their monetary cost in time if you lose some valuable work, or other files etc.
If I only use the combo updater is there a chance that it'll work
It depends whether the combo updater includes a full copy of the Bluetooth File Exchange application. That depends on how much it has been updated since the OS was first released. You'll only find out by trying it.
The other alternative is to find another Mac running the same version of Mac OS X and copy the application from that computer to yours.
But you really need to get some backup system sorted out. If your hard drive dies, you've lost everything with no way to re-install.

can we get apple to make a fix to download that would enable the bluetooth file sharing with any deivce? i would like to to stay with Apple iphone but if they dont improve the lack of features.. i will move on and I know im not the only person to think like this.
    regards

There is not "fix" to be provided, Apple made a decision to not include the file sharing profile.
You are welcome to provide feedback, but after six years, I would not hold your breath.
Feedback can be left here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

  • What's the best Bluetooth file sharing app for iPhone

I'm trying to find a good BT file sharing app for an iPhone 5. I've noticed that the iPhone 5 won't even detect devices such as other phones or computers with BT but seems to have no issue with BT accessories such as satnav. My iPod touch has no problem detecting any BT device which seems odd.
So, is there a good BT file sharing app availble for an iPhone 5?

You won't find any Bluetooth File Sharing app that will work with non-iOS devices. That is something iOS simply does not support.

  • Bluetooth file sharing to non apple devices

Agreed, that Apple doesn't want piracy, but what about file types like documents and jpeg images that one would want to share over bluetooth with people having devices other than iOS? Its quite a handicap to flaunt around a $900 phone and then ask people to send via emails when they want to share something from their phones.

Please read the subject and the original post.
And please don't be sorry on behalf of apple. The fact that we love apple is what makes us want it to be perfect. And nothing/no one is perfect. But I'd rather do with a non standard ear phone jack or a camera without flash than Bluetooth file sharing, which is the most basic way of sharing files between portable wireless devices in general, and smart phone in particular.
I'm also not ruling out possibilites of apple not getting license for incorporating this in the iPhone, from whichever company holds the patent for Bluetooth file sharing. Personally, I fell apple wouldn't leave out on something so basic.
It's just that it should cite a reason officially.

  • With Bluetooth file sharing being allowed in iOS6 now, is it possible to connect a Polaroid POGO printer to the iPhone and iPad now?

I know that there is a new bluetooth sharing feature enabled on iOS6 now that wasn't there before on iOS5, and I was wondering if this means my Polaroid POGO instant printer would be able to connect to the iPhone to print photos now?

But wait!  I just found this.... http://http://www.pcworld.com/article/260723/apples_ios_6_what_we_know.html
Including a copy/paste from the above link right here:
    Bluetooth File-Sharing
Also new in the latest iOS 6 beta is a function for Bluetooth sharing support for apps, according to a screenshot posted by 9to5 Mac.
    Source: 9to5Mac
Currently, iOS 5 allows you to share contacts with a car kit, send audio to a stereo, use audio/video remote controls, participate in multiplayer gaming, and establish connections to Bluetooth keyboards.
In iOS 6, however, apps may be able to request Bluetooth sharing functionality to swap photos, calendar dates, reminders, and contacts. The reported new sharing capability would be controlled in a new section of the Settings app labeled “Privacy.”  [ end quote]
Now I'd love to know if someone who actually owns the Pogo Printer and iOS 6 can get it to work.  I would immediately buy the printer which I have wanted all along except that I knew it wouldn't work with my iDevices.

  • Bluetooth / File Sharing / Public Folder

When I try to browse the public folder / drop box on my iMac from my MBP, I get a message that I don't have permission.
On my iMac I right click on the public folder in the sharing pane, I get this message:
I'm not sure what this means? Will applying it solve my issue?

I had this problem yesterday, and then it went away. You could try:
    a) rebooting your Mac
    b) unpairing and then re-pairing your devices
    c) try fetching the file from the other device instead of sending it
    d) Instead of using the Bluetooth File Exchange program, just right-click on the Bluetooth icon in your menu bar and select Send File or Browse Device
    I Hope this helps.

  • Bluetooth File Sharing

My new iPhone3G doesnt see other phones, nor do they see it? Why? Its bad enough you cant send picture messages but you cant even share files via Bluetooth!! Surely a massive oversight on both accounts by Apple

Bluetooth file sharing is not supported by the iPhone. This is very well-known, and had you done some research before purchasing the phone, you'd have known that.

  • Anyone experiencing Bluetooth file sharing issues?

I have two Mac Mini's that normally Bluetooth share files all the time. After installing Lion I made sure to check that Bluetooth sharing is enabled on both computers. When one device try's to send a file to the other I get
To use the services on this computer, turn on Bluetooth sharing in it's sharing preferences.
Anyone seeing the same thing or have a fix? Thanks in advance.

Mark, my issue was a result of too much fatigue and too few brains. I had merely forgotten to turn on pairing on my bluetooth device. Once I realized my idiotic mistake, it worked immediately. Don’t know what the problem on your side could be. I believe the newest bluetooth technology (iPhone 6) is backward compatible with the oldest bluetooth technology (headphones) so it should work. Might want to check out this link iOS: Troubleshooting Bluetooth connections Good luck!

  • Bluetooth file sharing problem

I have an iMac G4. I connected a Linksys Bluetooth dongle to the USB port so I can use a wireless keyboard and mouse. It works fine. However, the Bluetooth icon in the menu bar is not on, there's a line through it but the drop down menu says Bluetooth is on, but that too is not not highlighted.
I am able to send files from the iMac to my Powerbook but I can't send files from the Powerbook to the iMac. The Powerbook shows it 'sees' the iMac but when I go to send a file a messages says the iMac "doesn't have the services' or something to that effect.
I am using the latest Linksys module (DBT-120) after replacing the old one. I used to be able to send files back and forth but now I can't. I have opened preferences and everything is on, allowed, etc.

...but the drop down menu says Bluetooth is on, but that too is not not highlighted.
That is what happens normally even with built-in Bluetooth. It is not highlighted because you can't select it.

  • Bluetooth file sharing between computers will not connect with my iPad 2.  Any help will be nice

I have been trying to send files through bluetooth and cannot get the ipad to receive.  Does anyone know how to fix this?  Can it be fixed?

    That depends.
If you have Pages on your iPad and Pages on your computer they should both support iCloud. Setting up iCloud and turning it on for Pages will allow Pages documents to be sync to both devices simultaneously.
I do this all the time. Changes I make on my iPad are automatically synced to my iPhone and computer.

  • File sharing between Macbook and iPhone 5s? AirDrop or bluetooth

Just purchased my first Macbook ever! I'm catching on quickly however I've run into a snag with file sharing between my other Apple devices.
How can I pair and send files between my MBA and iPhone 5s?
I've made the change in system preferences to allow file sharing, yet still pops up on my iPhone that my MBA doesn't support this.
Also I've enabled Airdrop on both devices yet I can't seem to get that to work as well. Any help or advice would be appreciated. I would love to be able to easily send pictures or documents from my MBA to my iPhone 5s via Airdrop and vice versa.
    Thanks in advance

Regarding AirDrop, note the quotation below from: iOS: Use AirDrop to wirelessly share content
You can't use AirDrop on iOS to share with OS X users, and OS X users can't use AirDrop to share with iOS devices.
The iPhone has limited bluetooth profiles and the only supportde connection between an iPhone and a computer is for tethering (sharing the iPhones cellular data connection). iOS: Supported Bluetooth profiles
