Bluetooth fix for Lion

I found this over on the Macbook Air forum, it worked for me. Apparently if you use Migration Assistant you can end up with Bluetooth acting weird, as indeed I have been for the last few weeks.
1) Go to: Macintosh HD->Library->Preferences
2) Drag (the old migrated files) com.apple.Bluetooth.plist and com.apple.Bluetooth.plist.lockfile to the desktop. Note that Lion will force a COPY when you do this, you must actually delete them and Lion will request the admin password.
3) Stop Bluetooth and logout.
4) Login and restart Bluetooth.
5) Repair (as in Bluetooth "pair") everything.
Thanks to RMalay for the correct answer.
Lawrence

I had to delete ALL files containing .bluetooth in their name. After 3-4 attempts it worked!! First time in 5 years I was so mad at Apple!!! First time in five years! I felt like using a ****** windows machine!
Oh, please Steve come back, everything was all good when you were here:)

Unfortunately this is not the path to security since it appears other services like CUPS use bash.
I agree. When I tried using symlinks to send calls to bash & sh to tcsh instead, I found a lot of broken shell scripts. I don't think tcsh has been maintained very well since it's use with OS X 10.0 through 10.2.  I had better luck with xsh, though.
This is what I used for a day or so with Mavericks:
    sudo mv /bin/bash /bin/bash.bak

  • Will There Be a Fix (for Lion users)?

Ever since upgrading to Mac OS X Lion, I've noticed issues with Adobe Audition, it kept freezing and crashing when I add an audio file as I'm post edit my radio show.
Will there be a fix for it soon? It's been occuring since upgrading.

    Hello,
As of now, there are no known issues with Audition CS5.5 on Lion (Mac OS 10.7). We are running the OS on many machines here and have found the application to be fully complaint with the new operating system.
As for the crashing you are experiencing, let's try a few things to troubleshoot the issue on your particular system.
First: The new Mac OS hides the Preferences folder location by default. Here's how you can "unhide" that folder:
    1. Open the “Terminal” application (Applications > Utilities > Terminal).
    2. Enter the following command and hit enter: chflags nohidden /Users/Your_User_Name_Here/Library
Next: I suggest you try using a new set of preferences in case something has become corrupt.
Go to the following locations and either delete (if you don't need  the old preference) or instead re-name these files or move them to  another location:
/Users/User_Name/Library/Preferences/Adobe/Audition/4.0/ - Move or delete the "4.0" folder.
/Users/User_Name/Library/Preferences/com.Adobe.Audition.4.0.plist - Move or delete the "com.Adobe.Audition.4.0.plist" file.
    Re-launch Auditon and try again.
If this does not resolve the issue, please tell me if you are seeing this with a particular audio file or format.
-- Does it happen with all files or just specific files?
-- You mention that this happens when you add an audio file. Does this mean when you open a file in the single-asset editor or in multitrack?
As much information as possible will be helpful for us in trying to narrow down the problem.
    Thanks,

  • Fix for Lion mailboxes and emails that disappeared!

I had to call support and the following fix they provided returned my mailboxes and emails!  This is what I did:
    Click on Finder
    Click on the "Go" tab
Press and hold the Option button, "Library" will appear in the drop down list
While holding the "option" button, click on Library
Scroll down to the Mail folder, click on the drop down arrow
Click on the V2 droop down arrow
Click on the MailData drop down arrow
Delete the files that start with envelope (I had 3)
Go back to your mail, on the left side you should see On My Mac, click on that to open it

Sorry buddy but this isn't the right answer... My Lion continues loosing wi-fi connections even if with channel 11 is choose on the WNDR3700 ...
Searching on the net, I've found this will be fixed on the new update 10.7.2 which is currently released for developers only...
Unfortunately, we have to wait until Apple release the fix for us... Looks like Apple started to release unfinished products like Microsoft always does with their windows versions...:(
    I am wrong again!
Someone from Macrumors forum said the problem continues with 10.7.2 which he had installed...
So, lets see how long Apple will take to fix this issue!!

  • Fixes for Lion 10.74 Update Freeze

I recently attempted to install an update for Lion, I believe it was 10.74.  After restarting my computer, the installation stopped as it was "moving items into place".  After waiting several hours, I forced a restart of the computer.  Now when restarting the computer it freezes on the gray loading screen with the apple logo.  Has anyone run into a similar problem and found a solution?  And if not, is there a way to somehow get the computer working again without restoring the entire computer?

Im having the same problem and its not the first time... it happens alot...
I download and once i restart and start to install it gets as far as to the writeing part and thats when it says it cant be installd.
I do it manually and all i get is

  • Fix for Lion breaking Dell printer driver?

I just purchased a Dell 1130n Laser Printer, which is advertised to have Mac OS X support.
    Having installed the driver that came with the printer (2010 is the most recent driver version) I have the following problems;
    - Printer runs but no paper is fed through.
    - Blank pages are printed
    - Nothing is printed
    - Numerous pages of thick black lines are printed
One of these occurs every time I try to print under OS X Lion.
The printer works perfectly on the same mac booted in a Windows 7 partition.
    Any suggestions to fix?

I've had a similar problem and found something that fixed it for me. I removed the printer because I was having some issues and then it refused to work but after a day I've managed to get it back again so here's what I did.
1 - Download the driver from the Dell website
    http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/uk/en/ukdhs1/DriversHome/?c=uk&l=en&s=dhs&cs =ukdhs1
2 - Run the installer and uninstall the drivers.
3 - Run the install and re-install the drivers
4 - Restart your Mac (I hate restarting but I blame Dell...usually it works fine for everything for weeks!)
5 - I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers again at this point (no real reason so try without!)
6 - Turn on the printer and then add it in System Tools > Print and Scan
7 - Mine added fine and found the drivers.
Hope that helps. I couldn't find anything very useful online...especially one incredibly helpful person on another forum who posted for help then put 'it's ok I've sorted it' without explanation!

  • Fix for FOND error on Lion

I just upgraded my system from Leopard to Lion and I noticed that now my Univers fonts will not activate.  When I went to Fontbook I noticed that all of my Univers fonts come up with the same error message 'FOND' font association unability and now it will not activate or install.  I went through several other forums and found that this error was common on Leopard but I haven't found any mention of it on Lion.  There also does not seem to be any available fixes for Lion according to my searches.
I attempted to reinstall the font with a new version of the Univers CE family but that refused to install because the older font that was having issues with Lion was still installed (albeit not working).  I attempted to remove the non-functional font and then reinstall the new one and that still did not work.  If there is a way to just force Lion to install the font despite the FOND error that would be preferable.
This is highy inconvenient since the Univers font family is what I use the most in Quark and now I will have to manually switch over to another font for my files to display correctly.  It is not the entire Univers font family that is affected by this glitch, only the Univers fonts that have CE in them.  According to all of the reports I've seen with Leopard, this issue is caused by it not recognizing bitmaps or something like that.  If anyone can offer any insight on how I can fix this I would be very appreciative.

kirchoff - if you still have an issue with the font, have you completely cleared the font cache by restarting your mac in safe mode? I'm wrestling with FOND errors in Lion myself and that has alleviated 'some' of my problems. my other problems are related to screen fonts that have multiple weights contained within the file and internal names that don't resolve well...but i digress. good luck!

  • Bluetooth drivers driver for lion 10.7 OSX

I deleted my blue tooth drivers on accident and my key board and bluetooth device want work How do I reinstall the driver for lion 10.7 OSX?

    Reinstalling Lion Without the Installer
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry.

    http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/18931/os-x-lion-fix-for-wireless-not-reconnecting -when-exiting-sleep-mode/

I have the same symptoms with a 2011 iMac and my Senheiser Bluetooth headphones.
10.7.3 did not correct this bug.
I'm also using MS Messenger and notification sounds are also buffered until the headphones are switched on.
I found other threads dealing with this bug :

I'm currently trying the tip given in the last discussion :
"Success - in the Audio Midi Setup (Applications/Utilities) I changed the output to 2ch - 32bit Float and all the audio works well."
My headphones already had this setting, but internal speakers had 2ch - 24bit... is it a possible explanation ? Time will tell ...

  • Is there a fix for Mountain Lion audio output settings after the laptop goes to sleep and wakes back up?

Mac Book Pro running Mountain Lion OS X 10.8.5 after the notebook sleeps audio and video does work (for example on YouTube).  I have been able to temporarily work around this by toggling the settings on Built-in Output in Audio Midi Setup, Audio window between 2ch-20bit Integer and 2ch-24bit Integer.  But this is a temporary fix until the laptop sleeps again.
When it's not working, all system sounds (emails "dings", delete file "swish", etc.) are silenced, and video playbacks on YouTube and elsewhere freeze and have no audio until the Audio Output settings are toggled then they all immediately start working.
Has anyone encountered the same?  Have a long term fix for this annoyance?
I cannot upgrade the OS to 10.9 Mavericks yet because of a corporate policy - there is some conflict with 10.9 and our corporate VPN connection.

  • Upgraded to Lion & can no longer finger swipe for/backwards between pages. Is there a fix for this?

Title says it all. I just upgraded to Mac OS X Lion, and can no longer use a finger swipe, whether one or 2 fingered, to move backwards an forwards between pages. I can still do so in Safari, but not in Firefox 5.01, my preferred browser, any longer. Doesn't matter if I try using one, two or more fingers
Is there a fix for this? Thank you.

If you download this program http://blog.boastr.net/?page_id=1722 (better touch tool), you can make your own swipe gestures.
However, I have been able to three-finger swipe forward and back on webpages by going to ''system preferences'' > ''trackpad settings'' > ''more gestures''
and checking the box at ''"swipe between pages"'' and selecting ''swipe left/right with 3 fingers''

I have just updated to Lion and now my folders no longer show number of items on the bottom. Is there a fix for this? I allways found that handy. Now I have to click on an icon on the top, This is a backward step if that is now the only way to see the number of items. Am I missing something obvious?

    Parrotcat wrote:

In the good old days of Snow Leopard, an open Finder folder had a border along the bottom of the window which could show the number of items in that window and the total available space on the hard disk or partition that folder resides on. That bottom border is gone in Lion and those two bits of information are gone with it. Is that what you're talking about? If so, I'd like to learn how to get it back too and "Show Item Info" is not the way.
