Bluetooth GPS receivers for MBP??

Has anyone tried using any BT GPS receivers for navigation program?
Here's a find that i was curious about if it would work on a MBP notebook.

I assumed that since it's "BLUETOOTH", it should be able to work....but i understand that NOT all bluetooth work with bluetooth devices..... isn't that stupid? haha.....And you would think that all bluetooth devices would be made the same.....
any thoughts/comments on Bluetooth GPS devices working with MBP notebooks???

IPad 3rd gen wifi & external bluetooth gps receivers

Has anyone had success connecting the iPAD 3rd gen wifi to external bluetooth gps receivers, other than the XGPS150 or Bad Elf?

I had the same issue. I came up with a work around until they get it fixed.
I also attempted to sync selected folders from my computer to my Ipad 3. Only 3 of the 8 picture folders would sync to my new Ipad 3. . I had same issue as noted above. The sync would start and then stop. The selected folder which was syncing would disappear from the Ipad 3. .
My work around: I created a new folder in my Pictures file, copied and pasted the photos in new folder.
I entered the Pictures folder on my computer, I made a new folder and named new folder IPAD3 ABCD
( ABCD was specific name of contents in folder), I then copied photos from original file that would not sync and pasted them in the new folder named IPADABCD. I did this one at a time. I went back and re-synced one new folder at a time. I only had to redo the above list one time for one folder that did not sync after doing this. But all my photo folders are now on Ipad3.

GPS module for MBP

Hi, is there any USB or Bluetooth GPS module I can like attach to my MBP to use the notebook as a GPS unit?

For a receiver, I use the Holux GPSlim 240:

It connects over Bluetooth, charges via standard USB cable, and works great (I can use it with my cell phone as well).
For software I would second the recommendation fro MacGPS Pro.

Bluetooth GPS

Does anyone know if Apple has any plans to enable bluetooth GPS receivers for use with either Google maps or another GPS program they may release in the future? I'd REALLY like to be able to replace my Windows Mobile phone, but this is one feature I can't do without.

Any Bluetooth GPS puck should work, I personally use the Holux M1200 puck, found on e-bay for $35. It is accurate within about 10 ft. As far as the turn by turn directions this will require 3rd party software.

MBP and Bluetooth GPS dongle

I bought a Bluetooth GPS dongle for a PDA some years ago. This model:

Now I wonder whether it is possible to connect and use it with my MacBook Pro. Does it require 3rd party software? If so, any recommendations? Is it possible to make it work with Google maps somehow?
I have searched for information on this but almost all the postings deal with the use of GPS dongles with the iPhone.

DeLorme sells Street Atlas USA 2010 separately for $40. They also sell it with the BT-20 Bluetooth GPS adapter for $100. SA USA 2010 does support many GPS devices including 'generic NMEA', but I'm not sure how the Bluetooth communication is handled. Contact their tech support and ask: www.delorme.com
Note that Street Atlas USA 2010 is a Windows program, so you have to run it under Bootcamp, Parallels, Fusion or the like.

IPhone as GPS receiver for Wi-Fi iPad

As you sadly know there is no such feature, the iphone hotspot provides ONLY internet.
what other options are available?
1. buy BT GPS receiver in addition? which one is best?
2. Apps?

They've been making external GPS receivers for iOS devices for several years, and have some good online reviews. They make BT devices as well as devices to connect via the older 30-pin or lightening connectors.

Bluetooth GPS Receiver + MacBook. Any software?

I just purchased a BT2 Bluetooth GPS Receiver. Is there a software for Mac OS X that I could use to receive live tracking on my MacBook, instead of a PDA?

I am also interested in setting up the Macbook with a bluetooth GPS receiver for use in the car or when sailing.
So far I have searched around but haven't found any software with offline maps included.
The best solution (and cheapest) so far I have found is to use Google Earth and increase its cache size. Then I guess you can run the route beforehand so the roads and images are stored offline ready for use.
Is there a standalone package with roadmaps (for the UK/Europe) built in for offline use?
This must also be able to connect to a the bluetooth GPS receiver. Has anyone got any recommendations for these too?

Recommendations for Bluetooth GPS for N95

Has anyone got any recommendations for a Bluetooth GPS receiver (to improve the dire performance of the inbuilt one) available in UK?

I bought the Nokia N95 8GB for its 'all in one device 'convenience.
I bought an external Bluetooth GPS, not because the inernal was no good, or not accurate enough but because I did not want to destroy it with vibration and rain, strapped to the handlebars of my Yamaha XT225
I want to create tracks (kml?)that map out the roads, lanes and footpaths of Cebu, Philippines using my Motorbike, in places the car could not go.
I decided on the Wintec G-Rays2 (WBT-201). This is more than just a Bluetooth GPS, as it has a 'logger' function also (collecting up to 131,072 waypoints). It is also much quicker at acquisition than the internal GPS (34 seconds or if data is still in memory 4-33 sec).
Even in a car, the WBT-201 G-Rays2 unit, can be positioned on the dash, whilst from anywhere in the car, the N95 receives the NMEA0183 format data stream giving position, speed, altitude and time, together with estimated error and satellite status.
'Sports Tracker' works very well with this for receiving the data stream 'live'. Once 'captured' it has many 'export' formats of the captured information. Test 'Tracks' of the same 'Route' using the internal GPS and another time the WBT-201, show the external unit to be more accurate. Having said that, the internal GPS is actually pretty good at capturing the same track.
The only real 'negative' of the WBT-201, is the 'TMXTool' software (for configuring the settings, on the go, rather than connected to a PC), is for PPC, and not S60. However the 'TimeMachineX' software is OK for 'Windows' use.

I have a GPS BT-338 but it´s doesn´t work with my IPAD2, appearently because only selected Bluetooth GPS are available to work with Apple technology.
I will use my IPAD 2 with Jeppesen Charts for help IFR flights in my Cessna 205.

How to use nokia as a gps antenna for sailing navi...

hi to everyone.
it's time for me to buy a new phone and i was interested in the 6110.
I was wondering . does anyone know if it's possible to use the phone as a gps antenna and connect it to a laptop so i can use the laptop's programs and maps which are specific for sailing navigation?
maybe through some program for its s60 platform?
I mean i want the nokia to transfer the positioning infos on my laptop. there are already some external antennas-receivers for this job that are connected through usb or bluetooth but i 'd like to know if i can do that with my nokia.

Unfortunately this is not possible as internal GPS is an embedded chip which can only be accessed by applications installed upon 6110 Navigator.

N900 GPS NAVIGATOR FOR VENEZUELA EXIST?

hi again... im from venezuela.. and i try to download the navigator app for N900 but i cant, using the webpage in the phone said to me that the maps are not aviable... and in the nokia ovi suite i cant sync the phone cuz the ovi suite dont have registered the N900... what can i do??? i can see all the maps for all cities in venezuela using my pc but not in the phone.. any idea ? and excuse my english i have very very time without practice xD

I have not yet purchased Route66, but it does appear to be the only solution for the Mac at the moment with the features that we are looking for. I believe that the company has not produced an update since 2004 and the product is no longer listed on thier web site. So I would not look for any sort of updates or fixes anytime soon. I have also been looking at MMacGPSPro by James Associates which seems to only support TOPOS, or topographical maps. Not road maps and not detailed street maps of cities. It also does not appear to produce any sort of directions or routing information. In fact, it does not come with any sort of maps at all. It merely communicates with the GPS device and allows the user to load almost any map that the user can find.

It may be the best source of assistance is the manufacturer of the device. I suspect you will need a specific app for the iPhone to get it to work, but the site is rather ambiguous about that.

Security less bluetooth GPS

I have an HP IPAQ bluetooth GPS receiver that does not require a security code, but I cannot connect to it with my E61, it successfully discovers the GPS and then prompts for a code and I cannot find a way round having to enter a code ??
any suggestions ??

You can use Nokia Maps (download the version for the N73 http://europe.nokia.com/A4509291 and Nokia Map Loader from the same page) Just remember to start Nokia Maps on the phone after install before you use Map Loader. It needs to create some folder.
This will give you access to maps but to get GPS you will need to purchase a GPS receiver such as Nokia LD3W (connects via Bluetooth).
If you want voice navigation you have to pay for that but you can also try it for free for 3 days. You can access this from the options menu in Nokia Maps.

can anyone tell me if it is possible to use apps - such as Navigon's GPS app for iPhone.. - with the iPad ? it would make for a GREAT touchscreen size for the car the only thing i'm kind of let down by my iPhone 3GS...
could i perhaps connect them together via Bluetooth for that effect ?

& thanks ! i was kind of hoping it would & now i know it's down to Navigon to ''sort it out'', i'm sure it's only a matter of time before it's done so...another expense lurks in the horizon : a 3G iPad to use as a GPS !! plus whatever else it does, eh, eh, eh....
wait a minute, if it's 3G does it mean i can also use it as a phone of sorts ? or only through Skype & such ? give it the capability to stream music - á la iPhone.. - & that would make it a wonderful car gadget...
