Bluetooth handsfree on my powerbook?

Hi everyone
Orange Panther offers unlimited landlines. So i'm thinking of upgrading to this contract and using it to make my business calls during the day.
I currently use Skype through my laptop with the speakers and a microphone.
My mobile phone is bluetooth linked to my laptop. Can i make calls through my laptop using the microphone and speakers through my mobile phone?
Hope this makes sense, i basically want to use my laptop as a handsfree devise.
Any ideas/software?
Many thanks
ps - sorry if this isn't in the right group but this is the nearest applicable i could find.

You want to use your PowerBook to make VoIP calls, but use your phone handset for the speaker/microphone?
That's not likely to happen, but it's a limitation of your phone, not the Mac.
Each Bluetooth device identifies the 'profile', or specific features it supports. Examples are 'headset', 'microphone', 'keyboard', etc.
It's unlikely that your phone identifies itself as either a 'headset' or a 'microphone', which would be necessary in order to use it in the way you describe.
it's easy to check - just open Bluetooth preferences and select your phone. It will tell you right there which device profiles it supports.

  • Z10 connected to car via Bluetooth handsfree link not providing song information after 10.2.1 update.

I've been using a Z10 for about 6 months and I connect the phone to my car (a 2012 Honda Civic) via the Bluetooth handsfree link to receive phone calls and to play songs that are stored on my phone's SD card. When I play a song, the song title, album and artist information is displayed on my car's LCD screen. However, after updating to 10.2.1 this morning, the song information doesn't seem to be sent to the car. No matter what song I play, the car screen says "none" for the title, album and artist. I can still "scroll" though my songs from the car's stereo console using the forward and backward buttons, but alas, no song information is shown. I've rebooted my phone several times, deleted the Bluetooth connections on my phone and in the car and then reconnected, but no dice. I must admit that I'm really annoyed about this. This is pretty basic stuff. Does anyone else have a similar experience?

Hmmm...very strange. In the worst of the worst cases, the reload process I used was:
    Fully document configuration
    On Device WIPE
    AutoLoader Reload
    On Device WIPE
Reload all configurations (not a restore from backup)
    Reload all media from PC
Launch media app and wait for it to full scan for media
Pair with vehicle and see it it now works
Tedious I know, but sometimes required especially with emerging technologies.

  • Simultaneous E71 Bluetooth handsfree and Headphon...

I have Bluetooth handsfree (factory) built into my Car Audio that is non-A2DP. So to listen to Audio on the E71 I need to connect through Headphone to the Car Stereo system. When I do this , Bluetooth Handsfree malfunctions. The Audio (that Im listening to )  is silenced when there is an Incoming call that I answer, but the E71 seems to cut-off ALL audio through its bluetooth  as well (I hear silence plus the other end is unable to hear anything I say).
Ideally, I would like to have the listen to my music through the Wired Headphone link, but would like to take the incoming call through bluetooth handsfree. Any way to make both these work together?
Please help if any of you have a fix for this.
    dram12

I doubt if this is possible because  there is interlock mechanism (hardware/software) that once the phone senses a head phone is plug into its socket be it from other source, the speaker(mike too) as well as blue tooth profile for head phone are disable. A2DP in blue tooth means it could transmit/receive in stereo.Have you tried to go the web site of that car kit, it could only be an upgrade of its firmware will solve the conectivity issue your facing. Blue tooth connection only without using a separate cable to the stereo system.

  • BH 600 Bluetooth Handsfree

I bought a BH 600 Bluetooth Handsfree a week ago. It was working fine. Just today, it suddenly disconnected. Following all the steps again, i press and hold the (call) button on the handsfree till the light becomes steady on. Search for paired devices on the phone, it shows the model BH-600, connects, asks for Passcode, acknowledges it on entering, and i set it as authorised. But when i select the newly added BH600, and select "Connect" it says Bluetooth connection failed. The device is responding fine, even clicks on the device sound alright, but it fails to connect. Please Help. Also, i'd like to know how to see wether the device is Original or a fake?

I've found out how the pairing can be done. When the headset is paired with a phone, it will not pair with another phone or device again. The way to get it to work is as
    1. Switch on the headset by pressing the button and hold it until the green LED is stable.
    2. Connect the new device by pairing it.
    3. The headset is connected to the new device.

  • HT204387 can you listen to music with your ipod touch 4g and a bluetooth handsfree device

can you listen to music with your ipod touch 4g and a bluetooth handsfree device

Yes if the BT device supports the profiles supported by the iPod. See:
    iOS: Supported Bluetooth profiles
The A2DP provide is used with speaker and headphones
The Hands Free profiles (HFP) is typically used with headset (headphones and mic).

  • 6300 and Bluetooth handsfree problem

I experience this problem with my 6300 and the BH-700 bluetooth handsfree : When the person on the other end talks my mic gets muted and he can't hear me. Ofcourse this also happens if the other end is at a noisy place and then communication is impossible since my mic is always muted.
This seems like a problem of the phone since it happens with any bt-handsfree. On the other hand the BH-700 works fine with all other phones I tried...
I upgraded my phone firmware from 4.7 to 5.0 but the problem still remains. I don't want to think that the hardware implementation of the 6300's bluetooth and simultaneously send and receive data!
Anyone this problem? Any possible solutions?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
I have simillar problem with BT handsfree - the other side has difficulty hearing me, while I can hear fine.
Do you have any further experience or solution?

  • Non bluetooth handsfree keylock

I have just upgraded to the nokia 6300. I have a bury non bluetooth handsfree kit in my van. On my previous phone when I entered the phone into the cradle the automatic keylock unlocked itself. With the 6300 the automatic keypad lock stays lock. I have set the phone on headset. Is there any thing else I should be doing. It dangerous at the moment I have to manually unlock the keypad before making a call

Since this error only occurs on your Droid I would assume that it is a system error. I recommend performing a factory reset to clear out all settings. The steps to do this are listed below:
Performing a hard reset will remove ALL data including the Google account, system data, application data, application settings, and downloaded applications.
Follow the directions below to perform a hard reset:
From the home screen, touch the Applications tab (located on the bottom of the screen).
    Touch Settings.
    Touch Privacy.
    Touch Factory data reset.
    Touch Reset phone.
    Touch Erase Everything

  • Bluetooth HandsFree Yes - Stereo Bluetooth NO !

    Hey All,
Does anyone know how to disable the stereo bluetooth but keep the bluetooth handsfree swithched on.
I'm having a problem with my cars handsfree setup. If listening to the iPod through the headunit(Kenwood DNX6140) using the cable, and a call comes through, it continues to play the music over the voice call via bluetooth. I have also tried streaming the iPod via bluetooth...this works great but again the music does not stop when a call in in progress unless you actually press stop.
Can anyone confirm that when using stereo bluetooth headphones that the music stops when a call comes through.
Would love some help on this one.
    Cheers,
    David

Okay, does anyone know if you can disable A2DP Bluetooth with iPhone 3.1 update ?

  • 5130c-2 Bluetooth handsfree problem

    Hi,
I've got a weird problem with my brand new Nokia 5130c-2 - I'm trying to connect a Samsung WEP Bluetooth handsfree. It works perfectly on all other phones. My Nokia sees the device, and pairs it, however without asking for the device password. Then it's reported in Active devices, and also in paired devices, but it doesn't work. The telephone has the last updates - I checked it through the PC suite.
    So, anyone has suggestions?
    Thank you in advance.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Anytime random strange behaviors creep in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
    Best!

  • Bluetooth handsfree silenced by aux. audio out

I have Bluetooth handsfree in my car. It works fine with the Fascinate. ...until I plug my Fascinate auxillary audio output into the auxillary audio input for my car stereo. After that, the Bluetooth connection is maintained and dialing is possible, but call audio doesn't work as long as the auxillary audio jack is in use.  The moment I unplug the audio cable, handsfree audio works again.  This is unacceptible; I should be able to use Bluetooth handsfree for calls while I listen to music playing out through audio out.  My old phone did that fine.
Unfortunately, Samsung seems to disagree.  Their support told me:
    "Dear Mr Dale
Thank you for your inquiry. While your hanset does  support the bluethooth profile for hands free operation, this would be best addressed by vehicle manufacturer, as they can provide a list  handsets approved for compatibility. In most cases, this information is avaliable on the manufacturer's website. Please bear in mind that samsung does not support the use of any third party hardware with are handsets. We apologize for any incovenience this presents.
    Felipe."
Any chance Verizon could lean on them to fix this design flaw?

  • Bluetooth dongle for Ti Powerbook

What BT dongle have other users had success with for using a BT Mighty Mouse with a Ti Powerbook? I've tried three different ones, and it's been a no go. None recognize that a mouse has been detected even though the System Profiler reads the Dongle description. The most recent are a Macsense BT-200 and a Belkin F8T013 which both indicate Mac compatibility. The Belkin also specifies USB 1.1 compatibility which I would assume to be essential. Any ideas?
This evening, I disconnected the BT module in my MDD FW800 and tried the dongle on this machine. Same result. No mouse detected.

sorry, haven't heard of a BlueTooth and USB dongle together. As for which ones will work,  look 'em up, I guess. I've had good luck with iogear, but macbig is right, in the long run, I suppose it would make more sense to replace your BlueTooth module, but for right now, a  dongle will do. Windows support is pretty much a given but mac support is so-so. as for compatibility, it's usb 1.1 and 2 and bluetooth 3 and 4, I believe, so you should be okay as far as bluetooth goes for now.  your mileage may vary.....

  • 9500 bluetooth handsfree problem since update

Updated my 9500 last evening.  Today I have been unable to get my vehicle handsfree device to operate correctly.
When the phone and device are connected the handsfree unit sounds its incoming call tone constantly.  When attempting to receive an actual incoming call (push the receive button) nothing happens except the constant ring tone.
Seriously considering rolling back the OS unless anyone has an answer.  HELP!

A fix for this is by using a hybrid OS.  It gives you a great OS for the 9530.  Go to bbhybrids.ne and look for the .419/436 hybrid.  I takes care of the voice dial with or without Bluetooth.  It utilizes the .419 MTS Mobility .419 OS and the .436 hybridization from the folks at bbhybrids.  Going hybrid is easy to do.

  • 6111 Bluetooth Handsfree Profile

I'm onto my 2nd working 6111 now, and still have the same problem. I have a built-in Audi bluetooth kit which offers total handsfree operation. When the phone connects, the bt unit gets various bits of info from the phone, and displays it on the navigation screen in the car. It gets "Received Calls", "Dialled Numbers" and "Missed Calls" info from the "Call Register" in the phone. It also gets all the numbers stored in the phonebook. This all worked perfectly on my 6230, but is not so with the 6111. It gets all the "Call Register" info, but not the phonebook numbers. I have these numbers stored on the phone, and "Memory In Use" set to "Phone". If I add a new name and number to the "Sim", this new number is displayed on the Audi screen. It looks like the 6111 is sending the "Sim" info, but not the Phone info. I've heard from other 6111/Audi users that their phones work perfectly. Is this likely to be a firmware issue?
***Sorry Mods, just spotted the "connectivity" forum, might be better to move this topic to that forum instead.***Message Edited by lwpautz on 05-Jan-2006

it wont be a firmware issue. it sounds like your car kit uses a bluetooth profile to access info on the phones memory.
both the 6230 and 6111 have the sim access profile - this is how you can get the info from the sim card, but the 6111 does not have the serial port profile, generic access profile or OBEX profile. the 6230 does, perhaps you should contact audio and ask them what profiles are needed for this operation.
or, if they cant help you ask them for the model number and manufacturer of the car kit and post back. someone who visits here might be able to comment further.

  • K1 - App for bluetooth handsfree calls on tablet?

Does anyone know of an app for a tablet to connect to a cellphone for hands-free calling?
So, for example, if I get a call when my iPhone is in bluetooth range of my K1, I can answer it on the K1.
EDIT: So I found that the scary geniuses at xda-Developers figured out this insane method:
    Insane method
But it seems to me that all we really need is the right Bluetooth profile to fool the phone into thinking the K1 is a Bluetooth headset or automobile handsfree device. Am I missing something?

My wife just bought a 2014 Sienna and we (successfully) paired it with her iPhone 5 running IOS 7.1. We have the standard audio system, not the Entune one with the navigation screens. But then I got ambitious and thought that since Toyota has an "audio device" I could pair it up as an audio device and then she could use the iPhone as a handsfree phone AND to stream music from the iPhone via Pandora. That was a big mistake.
Once I paired it as an audio device and fired up Pandora, while the music streaming worked fine, the phone functionality went away. I know by doing research in this we are by no means alone. This appears to span multiple vehicles from multiple manufacturers, so suspicion heavily points toward IOS 7.1 breaking something in the BT links with multiple vehicles.
Yeah, I know how to unpair and re-pair as a phone. That'll no doubt work...for a phone. She can plug her iPhone into the car audio via cable, which is what we used to do 10 years ago. Not at all acceptable for 2014 however, when everything is BT enabled. Come on Apple, fix this in IOS 8.

    Hi MotomanDK,
Welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
With the information supplied, I can suggest that you first try performing a reset to the in car kit and also remove the Bluetooth connection from the device.
Once done try using the service. The issue you may have here is that not all Bluetooth devices are going to be able to work with the in car system, this is due to a number factors related mostly to Bluetooth profiles.
    I hope this helps.
