Bluetooth headset setup in infinite loop

I have been trying to pair my Bluespoon AX2 with my Macbook pro. Every time I go through the process of finding the headset, entering the access key, and then my mac goes into an infinite loop while it is "Gathering additional information about your headset".
I can pair the Bluespoon with my Blackberry without any problem so why can't I pari it with my Mac?
Note that I have turned off bluetooth on my Blackberry while I go through this process.
Help.

  • Basic Snow Leopard install with special customization:  setup assistant infinite loop problem.

    Hi, all,
Based on this post: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1395118?start=0&tstart=0, I'm assuming there's a problem with setup assistant running after a customization install reboot.  But I could be wrong.
    Here are the details:
    MacBook Pro
Clean OS X Snow Leopard install (I was "told" by IT I had to wipe the disk and re-install OS X after backing up personal files).
Installed extras I need/want (in particular, XCode, though I went ahead with the other optional software as well).
Installed the IT supplied "Supplemental CompanyName Installation Disc" (also referred to as "CompanyName Supplemental Installation Disc" ), which is supposed to create a customized, IT supported, setup.
When the supplemental install is done, the system is rebooted.
There is then a "Welcome" screen (starscape, with almost endless bombardment of the word welcome in various languages), finally followed by:
    a) select language; b) select keyboard; c) select timezone; d) Don't forget to register your Mac, with a "done" button.
Clicking the "done" button goes to a blank grey screen. and then loops back to redo the "Welcome/language/keyboard/done" sequence, ad nauseum (that is, infinitely repeated).
Per the above mentioned post, I have rebooted to the Install DVD and run disk utility, repairing permissions.  No difference on reboot.
Boot to safe mode goes to the same setup assistant sequence, not a login screen.
Another Mac user here suggested checking for /var/db/.applesetupdone, since missing it, or if it's correupt, could cause this problem.
So I booted to single user and checked for this file.  It is not there.  On the off chance the file is a simple flag and the content doesn't matter,
I did fsck/remount and touch /var/db/.applesetupdone but this did not change anything either.
Presumably, the file must be present and must contain some data.  If this is true, can it be created manually and put in place via single user mode?
Or are there other, better solutions someone could suggest?
    Many thanks.
    Bob

Ah, it seems I finally found something useful, at http://hintsforums.macworld.com/showthread.php?t=84825
One of the responders supplied the content of their .applesetupdone file.
I was able to get this onto my Mac, in /var/db, as .applesetupdone (just to be safe, I linked that name to .AppleSetupDone, the name as mentioned on the above site).  Note that both names begin with a dot (hidden, in UNIX parlance).
On reboot I was presented with the CompanyName specific login screen.  It took a little bit more mucking around with passwords, but I was eventually able to login without any problem.

  • Satellite A100-998: Blue Screen error - nv4_disp.dll infinite loop

I bought this laptop a month ago and I have a serious problem with 3d applications, 3ds max and video games. I receive a blue screen saying
    Error message: STOP 0x000000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER
    nv4_disp.dll
    STOP: 0x000000EA (0x8408E6B8, 0x88D33F60, 0xBAF7BCBC, 0x00000001)
(hope i noted down correctly) and it says something about "that this device caught in an infinite loop)
I downloaded the latest drivers for my nvidia display Forceware 84.68 (GeForce Go 7300, 512ram)from Toshiba but nothing changed. Any suggestions ? What is the problem? the performance is really good until the blue screen appears, so i don't see why this happens...
The laptop came with windows xp media center edition.
    Thanks in advance.

Did you ever get an answer? When i took my laptop home, the first thing i did once it was setup was test various 3d programs, because i bought it to do my 3d work on as well as having something mobile for work. I got that stop error, called toshiba and was told to uninstall and reinstall the graphics driver. Sounded like a fob but i did it anyway, and it had no effect. It seems like there's nothing i can do as Nvidia says they don't support it, it's a toshiba problem, and toshiba swears it can't be their fault.
I used to see it on my desktop (before it went to computer heaven) until i updated the driver (a new one came out), and then i never got it again. From what toshiba tech support told me, it sounds like they won't be updating the driver for the go 7300 as it's regarded as too old? I'm pretty disappointed as my search of reviews of the product never revealed this flaw.
One person who i talked to advised me to disable Hardware Acceleration, but wihout that i might as well saved money and gotten a cheapy graphics card. The price difference between a notebook with this card and one with the onboard intel type was huge.
The first notebook i bought had a faulty dvd drive and i returned it for this one. I cringe at the thought of calling toshiba again and having them tell me to return it to them as if it was a hardware failure, when it sounds like a poorly written driver is causing the STOP.

  • PowerBook G4 "Sees" Bluetooth Headset but Disconnects During Use

At the recommendation of an Apple Store saleperson, I purchased a Motorola Bluetooth Handsfree Headset (Model H700). I have successfully connected to the Mac (G4 PowerBook), and it recognizes the unit as being connected properly.
When I try to listen to iTunes, or make a SKYPE call with the headset active, I get a message "Bluetooth audio disconnected. You headset unexpectedly disconnected. Make sure it is turned on and in range. The audio portion of the program you were using may have to be restarted."
I have spent 3 hours on the phone with Apple Tech Support, and Motorola. No one has a clue what this means or how to fix it. Any ideas?
The setup assistant on the Mac shows everything to be checked out just fine. The headset works because I can hear it "beep" in my ear when I turn it on.
    HELP!
    Blue about Bluetooth

What I've discovered is that I can't set my bluetooth headset as the default audio output device... that causes all sorts of weirdness, usually resulting in my having to reboot the OS.
That said, I have no trouble using my headset with Skype. I leave the defaults under the Sound system preferences panel to Internal speakers / microphone, but I set the audio input / output to my headset on the Skpye Audio preferences page.

  • Oracle Installer, infinite loop

    Downloaded: nt817personal.zip
    Unzipped and placed in F:\oacle8iPersonal
    click setup.exe
    Installer appears, welcome...
    next button, clicked; infinite loop.
    installed products, clicked: infinite loop.
To stop installer, click X (close window).
env: NT 2000, workstation, jvm 1.3
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Step by Step Installation 9.2.0.4 on EL5.5.
    1. Make sure Java libraries are up to date.. (sysad side..)
    2. Do not start installation from the 9204 base installation- Oracle Universal Installer has problem
2.1 Install first the OUI "only" from the 9206 patchset (p3948480_9206_Linux-x86-64.zip)
using the Oracle_Home youve just decided. While running runinstaller from 9206, choose second option thats for OUI Installation. Once installation is done check under Oracle 9i Home you would see /product/9204/oui/oraparam.ini and /product/9204/oui/bin/runInstaller. If you dont find /product/9204/oui/bin/runInstaller. You may have to rerun the runinstaller from 9206.
2.2 In ../Disk1/install/oraparam.ini edit the Linux value under [Certified Versions]
    Linux=redhat-2.1AS,redhat-2.1,redhat-3,redhat-4,redhat-5,UnitedLinux-1.0,SuSE-9,SuSE-
    * value must include redhat-5 inorder to suppress the error message for OS version incompat.
2.3 After completion of OUI install, edit again ../product/9204/oui/oraparam.ini as instructed
    in step 2.2
2.4 Now install the 9204 base using the OUI from 9206. Run ../product/9204/oui/bin/runInstaller BUT
this time, select the "products.jar" from 9204 base installation set.
    (ex: /u01/app/oracle/Disk1/stage/products.jar)
2.5 From here u should be able to install the SOFTWARE ONLY option. DO NOT create a database yet.
    3. Patch the 9204 base with the 9207 patchset (p4163445_92070_Linux-x86-64.zip)
3.1 After decompressing contents, repeat step 2.2 again to suppress OS version incompat.
3.2 Now proceed with the patch application
    4. You can now create a database using the "dbca" utility.

  • Bluetooth Office Setup

    Hello,
I work in an environment with a lot of people around (although I have a private cubicle with high walls) and was wondering if anyone knows of a way to accomplish the following setup.
I would like to get a Bluetooth headset that can pair with the iPhone that supports A2DP so I can listen to music in the background while I work.
But here's where it gets tricky (at least for me) is there a headset that I could somehow also have simultaneously paired to my iPhone and my desk phone at work so that when it rings I could answer that phone? My desk phone does not have Bluetooth, so I'm guessing if it were even possible than I'd need some sort of attachment to it. (It's an old Northern Telecom/Meridian phone from 1998)
This would help free up my hands, cords, make my day more enjoyable, focused and not disturb other folks in the cubicles around me.
Thank you for any thoughts or help you could provide!

You'll need to keep using those wires. A BT headset can only be paired with one device at a time so you couldn't use it with two phones at the same time anyway. (to answer a call on the desk phone you would have to unpair the device from the iPhone, pair it with the desk phone, then answer the call. The caller will be long gone by then.
And the Meridian phone system is very proprietary. Even adding a wired headset is not simple, I know of nothing that would give it BT capabilities.

  • Bluetooth Headset issue

While the latest version of Osx has fixed the problem with bluetooth headsets not working properly, I have a couple questions on its usefulness.
    1) It seems that once setup, the mic stays hot the entire time its activated which runs the batteries down in no time. Is there a way to have the OS only activate the mic if I open a program that uses it like starting a call in skype?
    2) The mic in the OS constantly adjusts itself based on external noise, is there a way that I can set the gain in settings and it actually stays the way i set it? The internal mic seems to operate normally but the bluetooth constantly increases the gain until it begins to sound bad.
    Thanks for any help,

    Thanks in advance!
    Hello,
I've got exactly the same pair (E71 + BH702). The ringtone comes to headset if "general" profile is activate on E71. It doesn't come if "meeting" profile is active.
My problem is much more awful: very low volume when talking. How did you manage to increase volume with this headset ?
I would highly appreciate any information

  • Autoconnect bluetooth headset at startup

    Hi Guys:
Perhaps this is an odd cuestion but: Is there a way to get mi mac mini to auto connect to my bluetooth headset? (I am using mac os 10.9.4 on my mac mini) y a belkin bluetooth audio receiver (its a pretty simple Bluetooth device for connecting to a home audio system).
On my old macbook, it connected automatically when available.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for replying. Yes it has already been paired and used.
At my current setup, there are no other devices trying to connect, and my old mac book (mentioned on my previos post) is not on.
The Belkin receiver, is dumb (no configuration can be done, just connect using a default 0000 pin). Its already paired and working on my current mac mini, but the only problem is each time I turn on the computer I need to connect to it. (No big issue, just i was confortable to auto connect)

Late arrival. I posted re this topic about a year ago, to no avail. Then - 10.5.2 - the youtube, etc. files froze along with no audio via bluetooth, now (10.5.7) the video plays and only the audio stops!
This is not 'a Safari problem', it is a bluetooth/Mac/Flash problem that is ultimately only going to be sorted by Apple, I fear. And, I fear, it is not much of a priority for them while all their talent is still puzzling over the Java security problems...

For some reason though, Skype doesn't recognize it, and it is not visible in the sound control panel. The latest Macintosh Drivers disk seems to have updated the Bluetooth driver, and I thought all of those issues were resolved. Anyone know what the problem could be here?

  • Using my Plantronics 340 Bluetooth headset as a pc VOIP headset.

I am trying to use my plantronics bluetooth headset with my computer, as a microphone/earphone combination, with the popular gaming VOIP software Teamspeak.
I have a notebook from an other manufacture running XP SP3. My Bluetooth stack is a Toshiba one. I reinstalled the Toshiba drivers/software because it was still using the generic Microsoft ones before, but I can't seem to get it to detect the headset.
What am I doing wrong? Please let me know if you require any more information about my hardware/software configuration in order to answer my query. The system is able to detect bluetooth enabled mobile phones, just not this headset seemingly.

Right click on the Bluetooth systray icon click on New Connection -> Select "Custom Mode" -> ...
Now you should be able to select the headset profile.
By the way if the software can control the headset then use the VoIP option. If you would like to control you headset with button clicks and so on then do not enable the VoIP option during the setup.

  • Music stops playing after Bluetooth headset call

I have been using this setup since the days of iPhone 2G running v1 software. The problem has only occurred since I got my iPhone 3G running 2.0.
In my car I have a cassette adapter connected to the headphone jack and a Jabra bluetooth headset for voice calls.
I listen to a lot of podcasts in the car and music plays out happily through the car stereo. When a call comes in the music fades and I answer the call on the bluetooth headset. All works great. I then end the call and 8 of 10 times you'll hear a split second of the podcast and then it stops. The play icon disappears out of the status bar. I then have to go back in to the iPod and hit play.
I have also noticed sometimes when in the iPod app and music is playing, I hit the home button and the music will stop playing for a split second and then continue.
I have completely restored the iPhone on several occasions, sometimes even not restored the backup and started fresh. It has never gone away!
Is it the phone? Is it the bluetooth headset?
Any ideas would be gratefully received. I am happy to replace the BT headset if people think it will help but do not wish to buy one unnecessarily.

It's neither your specific phone nor your BT headset. It's a plain, old-fashioned bug.
You can submit feedback to Apple: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html.
    (there's a Bug Report category)
I have the same thing occur frequently with Apple's BT headset (it has persisted across two iPhones and two Apple BT headsets).

  • Use bluetooth headset

Can you use a bluetooth headset for Skype calls while on a wireless WIFI connection? I was attempting that kind of connection and could not get it to work.

Go to Bluetooth in System Preferences and choose to pair a new device. When the Bluetooth Setup Assistant starts it will ask what type of device you would like to set up. Choose Headset. The assistant will set up yourhead set and creat sound input and output channels for that device. From there you either set up your software to stream to your headset, or go to Sound in System Preferences to set input and output through the headset. Just rmember to switch Sound preferences back after if you do it the second way. That way iTunes and other programs that use shound won't try to play through your bluetooth headset.
