Bluetooth iphone and ipad

My ipad does not have direct internet connectivity so previously I used my iphone via Bluetooth to connect to the internet. Now it does not communicate. I read in other discussions that Bluetooth is not designed to do this and that is that. So my question is how do I get to use my ipad on the internet for mail or surfing. My iphone works great with my PC via Personal hotspot and cable for all internet functions so why not Apple to Apple. I do not have a router and do not intend to buy one as my PC and laptop communicate well when needed so how do I get the iphone and ipad talking.

Hi Julian thanks for the feedback. I´ll explain some more but please excuse me if I don´t have a full understanding of all this. I live in Brasil and the land line connection where I live is not reliable so I do not have a normal high speed connection for internet use. For my PC and laptop I use my iphone personal hotspot, it is not incredibly fast but it works well for mail and medium speed browsing. Since I´ve had the ipad I´ve been able to communicate between it and iphone when away from the PC or laptop and it too has worked well but not incredibly fast. The other day I agreed by mistake to ``forget this device`` and now I cannot get it back again. My reluctance to buy a Wi fi router is based on the fact that I use my iphone for my internet connection but if if you can tell me how to use the iphone Personal hotspot connectivity with a Wi Fi router it would appear to be a good idea but I´m advised that I cannot do this. When I need to communicate, copy files etc between my laptop and PC I use a fixed cable comnnection or an ``Ad hoc wi fi`` connection. So in summary if a Wi Fi router will enable me to communicate between all my devices and give me internet connectivity via my iphone Personal hotspot connection I will gladly buy one. Please advise how I may achieve this.

Virtual Leash between iPhone and iPad mini

Hello,
Is there any application working like a virtual leash between an Iphone 4S and an Ipad mini?
My problem is I already use bluetooth between my Iphone and Ipad for getting internet from the Iphone to the Ipad.
Devices I have seen are using bluetooth as well and will stop my connection for internet I guess.

No. You can sync Apps by using the Same apple ID on both devices. But the Apps contents remains on the device unless it has a specific feature that backs up to the cloud or something similar that can then be retrieved on the other device.

I have just updated my Mac but can't connect iPhone and Ipad

Why cant I connect my iPhone and Ipad to my mac via bluetooth??

This worked for me:
1 Go to the finder menu bar at the top of the screen
2Click go
3 click applications
4 go down to iTunes and right click on Show Package Contents
5 open contents folder then go to mac os folder
6 open the terminal marked iTunes in that folder
This should force it to open and function enough, it will not allow importing of music from a desk top

How can I get the "Purchased" playlist back on my iPhone and iPad?

I sync my entire music library with my iPhone and iPad. In the Music app, I used to have the playlists:
Purchased
Purchased on Matt Erickson's iPhone
Pruchased on Matt Erickson's iPad
plus all my other playlists...
Now on my iPhone, I only have Purchased on iPhone
Now on my iPad, I only have Purchased on iPad
How do I get all three of these playlists back on all devices?

The Airplay icon only appears if there's an Airplay enabled device that the iPhone or iPad can find in the same network, or connected via bluetooth.
How are you attempting to use Airplay?

As a Quadriplegic I keep dropping my mouth stick on the ground and I fumble for my phone when it rings the table on my wheelchair is cluttered with my iPad iPhone mouth stick and TV and AC remotes I want to be able to put my iPhone in my bag and receive calls threw the iPad.
All new electric wheelchairs allow you to pair the joystick or chin control of the chair to only one device so currently you have to sacrifice your use of one to use the other if we can pair the iPhone and iPad by wifi we can then sit the iPad in a mount on our wheelchairs and pair it ia bluetooth and operate them with ease .
Can anyone out there help me or pass on my needs to a development team within Apple, please help as I don't want to have to buy the ASUS tablet/phone

I would like to be able to do this also but, i'm not sure how to set my iPad to manually sync for one thing and also, when I connect my iPad to my new (recently purchased,first time,new to this) iMac it only gives me the option to either set up as 'new' or 'restore to my recent iPhone back up'. I just want them to be separate. How can I fix this please?

Jabber for iPhone and iPad cannot receive calls

We currently have Call Manager 9.1.1 and Presence 9.1.1.
I am starting to use the Jabber Client for iPhone and iPad, but am having trouble receiving calls dialed to a particular extension.
If I can go settings for the iPhone Jabber client as an example, I am succesffuly connected to all accounts: IM, Phone Services, Voicemail, and WebEx.
When I go to the keypad, I can succesffuly dial internal extensions and make outbound calls to any numbers and they come accross as using my extension.
When calling the extension, my desk phone rings, but not the Jabber client.
Not sure what could be causing this issue to occur for Jabber not receiving the calls.

Should still work. But would be good to check indial into jabber with the phone unplugged, just for testing purposes.
also, you have checked the partition and configuration on the TAB device is the same as on the deskphone?
Can you attach call manager traces when making a test call and attach to the case. Let us know the extension and device names you have used in the test, and a timestamp of the test.

You can migrate a copy of the data to a new account, then delete the other person's data from each account. To do this, on the phone that will be changing accounts, if you have any photos in photo stream that you want to keep on the phone, save these to your camera roll by opening the photo stream album in the thumbnail view, tapping Edit, then tap all the photos you want to save, tap Share and tap Save to Camera Roll. If you have any synced notes that you want to keep on the phone, email these to yourself so you can create new notes in the new account.
Once this is done, go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account. (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud. The phone that will be keeping the account will not be effected by this.) When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, be sure to select Keep On My iPhone. Next, set up a new iCloud account using a different Apple ID (if you don't have one, tap Get a Free Apple ID at the bottom). Then turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge. This will upload the data to the new account. You will create a new icloud email address with you turn Mail to On.
Finally, to un-merge the data you will then have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the data you don't want (such as deleting your wife's data from your account, and vice versa).

I set up individual Apple ID's for my children so that they could have their own Apple ID on their individual iPad minis (gifts from grandparents last year). When I go to iCloud under Settings, I see my Apple ID listed at the top, then my children's listed under Family Sharing. So the device is still using my Apple ID for iCloud, iTunes, etc., correct?
To "assign" their own Apple ID to their own iPad mini, I would need to "Sign Out" from my Apple ID. When I attempt to do so, I receive a warning that all of the Documents and Data will be lost/deleted.
So, instead of doing this, I figured out that I could do what you suggested. Signing in using a child's Apple ID will allow her/him to use Game Center, FaceTime, and Messages just fine. However, using their Apple ID for iTunes & App Store proved to be a problem: Purchased Music and Movies appeared in iTunes, but my Purchased Apps did not appear. Some Apps even disappeared, e.g. Proloquo4Text (a $99 app to help my son speak with his iPad).
So I reverted to using my Apple ID for iTunes & App Store, and I get everything that I want, EXCEPT for the iCloud storage for each Apple ID.
So that's when I started wondering how Family Sharing was really benefiting me ~ It was a lot of work (deleting apps to allow space to download iOS 8, etc) without any benefit that I can see. UNLESS I find a means to allow me to sign in each iPad's iCloud account with a different AppleID, then perhaps restore the Documents and Data from a backup? Would that work?

Are you referring to @mac.com, @me.com or @icloud.com emails? Or some other email providers emails?
If the former, it should do that automatically. If the latter, no. iCloud does not (nor is it supposed to) sync non-Apple provided emails.

IPhone and iPad can no longer connect to iTunes Libary via Remote

Up until a couple of hours ago, I had no problems controlling iTunes on my MacBook Pro via my iPhone or iPad. Now, on both devices, I get an error saying it can't connect to my Library.
All devices are connected to the same network. I get the error whether my firewall is on or off. I have tried re-adding the Library. When I do so the relevant device shows up in iTunes and the pairing process SEEMS to work. It tells me that my iPhone can now control my library, but it still can't connect.
I've tried rebooting the router.
All devices show the same ip address for the router and all are on the same subnet.
I've just upgraded iTunes to 10.2.1 and everything on the iPhone and iPad has the latest upgrades.
Also when I go to the iPod app on my iPhone and go to More -> Shared -> and then my library, I get an error saying "Cannot Connect to Media Libary"
I've seen this advice, "You must also have the iTunes preference "Look for iPod touch, iPhone and iPad Remotes" enabled. " I cannot find this preference anywhere. It's not something I've ever looked for before so possibly the name of it has changed in a recent iTunes release. Can anyone tell me if I'm looking for the right thing and where I might find it?
Any other ideas?

Hi Everyone, I found a solution to this problem with no "Look for iPod..." option.
Check "Allow iTunes Audio Control from Speakers"
Then, RESTART iTunes.

- An iPod can only sync with one iTunes library. Yu can however manage music and videos among different computers by:
Using iPhone, iPad, or iPod with multiple computers
- To change syncing computer, move all the media to compute r#2
- Connect the iPod to #2 and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
- Restore the iPod from that backup
Note tha the iPod backup the iTunes makes does not include synced media like apps and music.

I have a recurring invitation on my iphone and ipad devices that I cannot get rid of. I made it disappear on my imac, I was able to delete it from the google calendar that was syncing also. I dumped the google calendar. Now it appears in the icloud calendar and there is no option to dump it. It goes on recurring every 2 weeks forever. I would like to get rid of it permanently.

Every time I connect my iPhone to my iTunes, it invariably gets synced with whatever apps, music, movies and books which I synced to my iPad 2. How do I configure my iTunes in such a way that I sync different sets of apps, movies, music, etc. to both my iPhone and iPad? Thank you.

Is it possible to sync my iPhone and iPad to my Mac Book Pro and have the same screens and apps? I see where all apps appear in my iPad syncing window, but I cannot make it exactly like my iPhone... Is this possible? Thank you!

Hi Kristi,
Connect your iPad and your iPhone to your MBPro. Launch iTunes. Under Devices on the left side of the iTunes window you can select either device then select Apps from the menu.
You can drag home screens and rearrange apps right from that window. Very smart idea on your part to do that. That way it's the same (or close to) on both devices.
