Bluetooth Keyboard don't pairing

I bought a new Bluetooth keyboard (non official) for my Mac Mini and supposed it can work with apple products. The keyboard was detected and i pressed continue, but the problem is: when i try typing numbers and pressing enter, suddenly the window it closed.
System specs:

Sounds like Spaces is being activated somehow. With the wired keyboard and mouse in use, select the Exposé & Spaces control pane in System Preferences, click the choice in that pane for Spaces. See what the settings are. There are some activation settings in that pane - by default, F8 activates it.
It could be that the bluetooth keyboard has some stuck keys and is activating Spaces; or that the activation command has somehow been reset to something that the bluetooth mouse, or bluetooth itself, is triggering.

Thanks for your description of the procedure. I selected the device by scrolling down and then pressing Enter. Then, I received the passcode on the screen, that I entered by the keyboard and the pairing was completed. the search for a new device continued, and I had to stop the search. May be you have to proceed to a complete reset of the Apple TV. Hope it works.

I have same results. I have an ipad mini and it will not pair with my apple keyboard. I bought a mini keyboard with bluetooth 3.0 and it will not pair either. Is my ipad defective? Or do i need a keyboard with bluetooth 4.0? Also - the mini keypad will pair with my ipad2 and my iphone 4. Only difference I can find is the ipad mini has bluetooth 4.0. Seems it should be downward compatible but maybe not.. I am not a blutooth expert!

Bluetooth keyboard needs constant pairing

So I bought a wireless keyboard last weekend as well as a Graphire 4 pen tablet which included a wireless 2-button mouse with scroll wheel. Once I set up the keyboard and entered the code, everything worked fine. Installed the Wacom tablet and it also worked just fine. I shut down the computer and upon my next start up, the keyboard didn't work and the Bluetooth symbol indicated Bluetooth was Not Available. The Bluetooth discovery window opened automatically and was looking for a mouse. When I selected "go back" and chose keyboard, Bluetooth wasn't able to find the keyboard. I shut down again and before restart, plugged in my original wired mouse. Now Bluetooth finds the keyboard and wants the pairing sequence to be executed again.
Are there any known conflicts between the wacom tablet and the wireless keyboard?
Is my computer automatically assuming that I have a wireless mouse because it can't find my USB mouse?
It seems the only work around is to never shut down the computer - only put it to sleep. Any suggestions??

Sorry to hear you're having trouble — particularly with such a cool new toy!
I'm relatively familiar with Bluetooth issues in the wacky world of Macs — but not Wacom. So I did some research [1] that may prove helpful. I found a number of issues with Wacom drivers — but none that identify a conflict with an Apple wireless keyboard.
But before we wade too deep into that, I have a few questions/suggestions, primarily for clarification — but one may help. Depending on whuzzup (please post back!), we can discuss further troubleshooting steps to try, if necessary.
(1) Keyboard. You didn't mention the model of Bluetooth keyboard you purchased. Was it an Apple wireless keyboard? This may be a factor in any compatibility issues.
(2) Icon. What Bluetooth icon did you see in the menu extra that you considered "Bluetooth Not Available"? Here are the symbols and their intended meanings.
(3) What Bluetooth module are you using? Did you order your iMac G5 with Bluetooth as a CTO extra (internal Bluetooth module) or are you using a D-Link DBT-120 (Rev B2) (or other) adapter for your Bluetooth connection? If the latter, please post back to discuss if none of the other suggestions help.
(4) Are your Bluetooth drivers and software current? Please check to confirm that your Apple Bluetooth Firmware and software are updated to versions 1.2 (Bluetooth specification no.) and 1.5, respectively, for your model. System Profiler »» Hardware »» Bluetooth and »» Software »» Extensions/ Frameworks can help with this. According to Wacom's KnowledgeBase Article 332, the Wacom Graphire4 Bluetooth pen tablet is compliant with specification 1.2.
Wacom issued a newly updated Driver 4.95-1 for OSX for your tablet on Feb. 14, 2006. If you don't have this, or have any doubts about its installation — the new driver is described in this product bulletin, and available here. Wacom Article 335: "Why doesn't my tablet work after upgrading to Mac OSX Tiger 10.4?" explains how to un-install previous versions of Wacom drivers, and how to install the new one.
(5) Bluetooth Preferences and the Bluetooth Setup Assistant (BSA) can be a little confusing at 1st, and may suggest a "ghost" connection problem.
The BSA "auto-open" is a Preferences setting; "Mouse" is the default in the BSA Select Device Type window. (It's not automatically indicating what failed to connect or pair.)
Go to System Preferences »» Bluetooth and check to confirm that the settings match your objectives. At the »» Settings tab, I suggest that you de-select "Open Bluetooth Setup Assistant at startup when no input device is present" and select the others. [2] From what I can glean in Wacom's KBase, the auto- option for the Setup Assistant (BSA) may get pretty frustrating — because of the tablet's wake/sleep behavior. (We can discuss this later, if necessary.) You'll still be able to initiate "Setup Bluetooth device..." readily from the Bluetooth menu. While you have the Preference pane open, check setting in the Devices and Sharing tabs, too.
If you haven't already, you may want to contact Wacom tech. support in Vancouver, WA, USA at 1-360-896-9833 (Dial 4).
That's enough — too much? — for now. Please post back to share your progress. I found a few other ideas you could try, if these suggestions don't do the trick.

Brand New Bluetooth Keyboard doesn't pair at startup on MAC Lion Server

Hi,
Just got a new Mac Lion Server Mac Mini and went to set up last night.
Apple logo and chime comes up. Then the screen to turn on Bluetooth Keyboard and Magic Mouse comes up. I turned on the power on the mouse and keyboard. The keyboard doesn't pair and the mouse does. As soon as the computer realizes the mouse is connected, it moves on to the setup screens (username, server setup etc.) and doesn't care that the keyboard is not set up yet. Of course, since I cannot type usernames etc. for the server, I get stuck.
I rebooted (hard power shutdown) several times in the hope that one time (accidently) the keyboard would be picked up but no such luck.
My PS3 recognized the Apple Keyboard so it's not the keyboard.
I didn't have a USB keyboard around so I have to wait till tonight to try to set up. I have a couple of questions.
1. Anything with Mac Mini defective? Is it something for me to worry about?
2. After I use the USB Keyboard, will my system recognized the Apple keyboard and keep it memorized. I don't have a problem doing a one time setup in this fashion, but if it continues then I'd like to nip it in the bud.
3. Should I take it to the Apple store?

This is an all too common issue. It happened for me as well. I don't think there's anything defective on your mini. I used a wireless keyboard (USB) to complete the setup. Once I was in Lion, I paired my Apple BT keyboard and haven't had a problem since.

Forget the device again, then turn off bluetooth on your iPad, then turn both the iPad and the keyboard completely off. Wait 30 seconds to one minute. Now turn on your iPad and turn on bluetooth. Turn on your keyboard and pair them up again.

I suspect the keyboard is faulty.
However, before you replace it, try resetting the PRAM and SMC (instructions are in knowledge base articles).

IMac suddenly fails to recognize my Apple bluetooth keyboard

3rd party bluetooth keyboard not connecting to Mac

I have a 3rd party bluetooth keyboard that works fine on m iphone,
When I try to connect it to my Mac, the keyboard is discoverable as "Bluetooth Keyboard" where it always fails at the pairing process.
"The pairing attempt was unsuccessful. This configuration of Mac OSX and bluetoot software could be invalid or unsupported."
The bluetooth on my Mac connects fine to my trackpad.
Is there any reason why this shouldnt work on my Mac and is there any way to get it working?

I had the same problem with my third party bluetooth keyboard. When pairing, I could enter the passphrase but then the RETURN button would not register to complete the pairing and it would give me the same error message. It seems to work if you pair the keyboard by going into System Preferences>Keyboard>Set Up Bluetooth Keyboard instead of using the Bluetooth Setup Assistant.

Pairing with brand new 2008 bluetooth keyboard, Boot Camp 2.0

I have a very simple question. I've searched the forums and seen a lot of information about older versions of Boot Camp, old drivers, and a lot of problems. However, none of these answers have really helped.
I have a brand new Bluetooth keyboard - brand new, as in bought it last week.
I have a relatively new MacBook Pro. Relatively new, as in bought it six months ago.
The Bluetooth keyboard works stunningly well under OS X 10.5.4. I'm using it right now. It works. I don't want that to stop.
So the question: can I have the keyboard work under BOTH Windows XP (under boot camp) AND OS X?
I did try to see if I could make it work....
1. Reboot under XP (boot camp whatever the latest version is, I installed boot camp two weeks ago).
2. Select Control Panel - Bluetooth Devices
3. Check the box
4. Press button on right side of keyboard
5. Quickly press "next" button.
The first time I did this, the keyboard came up in the dialog box. It then asked me for a pass key, which I typed on my laptop's keyboard. I then tried typing the same pass key (my phone #) on the bluetooth keyboard and pressing Enter. The dialog box closed.
The keyboard did not work. At all.
Rebooted Windows. Keyboard still did not work. "Did not work" means did not register any key presses at all in the Notepad application.
The second time I tried steps 1-5 I got a different result. Instead of listing my keyboard, the Bluetooth wizard couldn't find a keyboard, or any nearby bluetooth devices.
So, if I 'un pair' the keyboard under OS X, and then 're pair' the keyboard under Windows, will I then need to 'un pair' the keyboard under Windows and then 're pair' it under OS X to make it work?

I paired my brand new Bluetooth keyboard (3 days old) with both the OSX and WinXP sides of my Mac Pro without a problem. I did OSX first and then Windows. On the Windows side it displayed a passkey but never gave me a chance to enter it on the keyboard. It just moved on to the next dialog screen and from then on it worked.

Problem pairing bluetooth keyboard?

I feel ridiculous posting this because it's essentially publicizing my own stupdity, but I noticed a lot of other people having the same problem I had.
I had been using my aluminum bluetooth keyboard, it was working great. Then it stopped working-- I tried to re-pair it (changed batteries, reset everything, all the obvious & not so obvious solutions) but to no avail. Sometimes the keyboard name would show up in the pairing window, sometimes it wouldn't. Even if it did show up, if I clicked on it it still would never get me to the passkey phase.
SOLUTION: Apparently the keyboard was paired the entire time with another iBook I have in my office that acts as a file server. We'd set it up with that computer once a long while ago, and apparently they still remembered each other & remained friends. And made sure my Macbook couldn't join their little group.
Anyway, I feel really stupid. But I bet there's at least one other person out there who's having this problem for the same reason.
Make sure your keyboard is divorced from all previous partners before you try to set it up with a new one! They don't like adulterers...
