Bluetooth Keyboard driver disables Palm Tx Alarm function

Dear Folks,
I have had a Palm TX for quite a while, and I use it frequently for e-mail and access on the road.  During a recent trip, my Universal I/R keyboard died, and I picked up a new Palm Bluetooth keyboard 3245WW.  I've noticed that when the keyboard driver is enabled, my Alarm function no longer works!  The Palm turns on at the appointed time, but unless one manually selects the "!" icon, the alarm never sounds.  This doesn't happen when the driver is disabled.  It took quite a while to figure this out...
It's interesting that when the bluetooth keyboard is apparently working fine and I'm inside of Versamail trying to answer a message, the first keystroke sometimes crashes the program and causes a soft reboot of the Palm.
Note:  I have left the IR driver on the Palm, but it is turned off.  I also have Documents to Go version 8.003 on the Palm.
Any ideas?  I have the most recent Bluetooth Driver (11.08).
Thanks,
Curt B.

Hi brenec,
just curious, did you fix your problem? Did it resolve the problem with crashing the device?
I have the Bluetooth keyboard since about 2 weeks and in principle it is working great. However, I experienced that the Palm crashes and does a soft reboot more often than usual. In particular this happens when I am typing some text on the keyboard. As far as I can tell, this happens when writing text using Documents to Go 7.00?, but it might also happen in other applications; the problem is that I use the keyboard almost exclusively with Documents to Go.  Luckily this does not happen all the time, but on the other hand, I already lost text that I typed on the Palm.
One pecularity is (and that reminds me to the Alarm problem) that I noticed that the Palm switches on by itself. No alarms are showed or something similar, just the screen lights up. The Palm did this even before using the Bluetooth keyboard.
I use the keyboard quite often as some kind of daily journal and to think loud (brainstorming). I find the smallness of the device very nice and that the Palm is ready to work after switching on. I used the Universal Wireless Keyboard before and didn't had these crashes. I removed the old infrared keyboard driver, but I did not do a "spring clean".
Any idea? If I can't fix the problem, I need to go for an alternative platform after 10 years of having had a Palm device :-(

  • IGo Stowaway Ultra-Slim Bluetooth Keyboard Driver for Curve 8330

I just got the IGO Stowaway Ultra-Slim, my Curve 8330 can see it under discovery, and asks for code, I type in 123 enter and 123 on the keyboard and no response,, I have been been following all sorts of links but no luck, The IGO Site (thinkoutside) is terrible and advises they have discontinued support for their keyboards..
HAS anyone been sucessful getting the two devices to link up?
If I don't get it to work, I am putting it back on EBAY,,,
    Thanks in advance

    Hi...
In the quick setup here are the bullets....
    Configuring the keyboard:
    1. From the BlackBerry main screen, launch the Stowaway Keyboard application.
    2. Select Yes at the "Enable Bluetooth?" prompt.
    3. On some BlackBerry devices, when launching the Keyboard application, you may see an
"Insufficient Permissions" status. In this case, it is necessary to change the BlackBerry's
application permissions for the Stowaway keyboard application. The following permissions
must be set to "Allow": Bluetooth, Interprocess Communications, Device Settings,
Keystroke Injection, and Security Timer Reset. If any of these options are set to "Deny",,
the keyboard application will provide an "Application Permissions" button that will take you
directly to the Permissions screen. The options will have already been set correctly for you, you
need only Save them with the BlackBerry "Save" menu option. (Note: If a "Device Options"
button displays instead when you launch the Stowaway Keyboard application, you will be given
manual instructions for setting and saving these permissions.)
    4. Once the Application Permissions have been saved, place the keyboard in Discoverable
mode by simultaneously pressing the <Ctrl> <Left Fn> <Right Fn> keys on the Stowaway
Ultra-Slim Keyboard. This is indicated by the Keyboard Status Light (above the <T> key),
    flashing green once per second.
    5. Within the Stowaway application, select "Connect to Keyboard" from the menu.
    6. If prompted, enter the numeric-only passkey of (1-9 digits of your choosing) on the
BlackBerry device using the dialpad, and press the Trackball or Track Wheel button or the
    <Enter> button.
    7. Type the same passkey on the keyboard using <LFn+numbers> using the number row, and
press <Enter> on the Stowaway Ultra-Slim keyboard. If the passkey process succeeds, the
keyboard should be connected within a few seconds.
    8. You may receive a prompt to "Allow connection to a local port?". Select "Yes", and the
driver will be available for connecting to your Blackberry.

  • Universal IR Keyboard driver for palm 755p

I have to do a hard reset to enable me to pass my phone on to my son. I need to reinstall the driver for the folding universal IR keyboard to use with the palm 755p. Can't find the original disk. Any ideas where I could find the file? I have scoured everywhere.

Have you looked at Palm.com?  There are several keyboards available.

  • Bluetooth keyboard & Nokia 6220 Classic -- "More S...

    Hi;
I have a Freedom 1 bluetooth keyboard that supports SPP interface with Nokia/Symbian Series 60. The Nokia bluetooth keyboard driver can't identify the keyboard (maybe because it doesn't support HID?), but the driver from Freedom works; but only sort of. When I type a character on the keyboard, whether in Test mode or in the notes application, the character appears in the text area on the phone, but immediately I get a pop up menu asking me if I want to:
    "More Symbols"
    "Number Mode"
    "Cut"
    "Paste"
    etc.
If I clear the pop-up, I can type one more character, then I get the pop up again. Does anyone know why this is and how I can avoid it?
    Thanks,
    Paul

I thought I would update this post.    When my girlfriend arrived the phone was working but I backed up everything and did a soft reset.
I also upgraded the Micro SD from 1gb to 4gb.
Recently the problem happened again and when I went to backup the phone the memory card was not visible, I ejected the card and plugged it back in and all the data was there.
It looks like the problem is that the phone is intermittently not seeing the Micro SD card, it is not the memory card because it has happened with 2 different cards.
I will monitor the situation and take the phone to Nokia Care if necessary, it is under warranty until next September.

  • Bluetooth Keyboard (or universal HID) Drivers?

I've successfully paired an Apple Bluetooth keyboard with a Blackberry 8830, but cannot use it for input.
Is there a universal HID driver for Blackberry that can be enabled?  Anything native to the device that would allow this to work?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

To use bluetooth keyboards, there is a security setting that must also be changed.  Go to Options>Advanced Options>Applications, find your bluetooth keyboard driver, click for the menu and select Edit Permissions.  Under the Interactions category, make sure that Interprocess Communication and Keystroke Injection are both set to Allow.  This can also be implemented via BES software configurations if you have a lot of them to do.

Application problems: Can not same, neither close a document; the Tx reboot by itself ... loosing data.

Since the original poster has not yet replied about his experiences, I hope it's ok for me to piggy back on his question.
Now that Palm has 2 bluetooth keyboards (Palm Wireless Keyboard with Bluetooth Wireless Technology and the Think Outside Bluetoth Wireless Keyboard), I wanted to know if anyone has gotten either to work with the Blackberry.
Alan noted that Think Outside drivers are available for the BB, but what about the other keyboard?
Both are on sale now, but the Palm Wireless Keyboard with Bluetooth Wireless Technology is quite a bit cheaper.

  • Palm bluetooth keyboard (3245ww) compatible with samsung impression?

Hi, anyone know if the bluetooth keyboard works with a samsung impression?  The user guide says there is a compatibility list online but I couldn't find it.
    TIA!
    Post relates to: Centro (AT&T)

This Palm BT keyboard requires a driver to be installed on the device you are pairing to. Palm only supplies drivers for Palm devices. The compatibility list only shows Palm Branded PDSs and smartphones. You would have to obtain a driver for the Samsung OS to talk to the keyboard. If the Samsung Impression is running Windows Mobile 6.0 / 6.1 ( I think Samsung is using their own OS) you might be able to use the driver for the Palm Treo 800 or Treo Pro

  • Function keys are not working on a paired apple bluetooth keyboard

hello, I just got this apple bluetooth keyboard and paired it to my ipad2. The letter and number keys are working perfectly fine, but my ipad will not respond to F1 to F12 keys,I tried Fn+F1-F12 they are not working. Then I tried to restart both my ipad and keyboard but the problem is still there. Additionally, Command+arrows can't function either. command+space is working though. Could some one please help? thanks a lot!

It might have been functionality that Apple has removed in the current version of iOS.  This old web article says the function keys worked in iOS3, but that's a couple of years ago:

My bluetooth keyboard was working fine for a long time, but recently the function keys have stopped behaving normally. The keys labeled for volume controls now affect expose, the brightness keys do nothing. Also, pressing fn+delete doesn't delete characters, it keeps working like a backspace. I've deleted the apple bluetooth plist, reset PRAM and NVRAM, reset the SMC, deleted and repaired with the keyboard, all to no effect. Anyone have any ideas?

  • FN -Function- key not working between my Logitech Bluetooth keyboard and my ipad2; any suggestions?

My new Bluetooth keyboard -Logitech- features a Function FN key that's not working, even though the rest of the letter, #s and signs are. Thank you for looking into it!

Here we go again!  The return key on my iPad stopped working again.
I don't think I posted more information here but on the Logitech site.  Basically, rather than go through all the steps of resetting the iPad, I used canned air to blow out under the return key.  I had to lift the key a bit with a pen knife to get better air flow.  I think I've done this twice.
Well, this morning the return key stopped working as well as the |\ key.  I sprayed and sprayed with no success.  This  time I had no system upgrade: just one day working and the next not.
This time I tried another trick that will be cumbersome.  I used the wireless keyboard from my wife's iMac.  The bad news is that the pairing wouldn't hold.  I finally figured out that the Apple wireless keyboard was still listed on the iMac.  Once I unpaired the keyboard from the iMac I was able to pair it with my iPad.
The return key and  the |\ key work fine.
It's going to be awkward carrying around the Apple wireless keyboard, but it does fit over the Logitech keyboard.  And I'll have to remember to carry extra AA batteries:(

  • Is there a way to use the time capsule as an external hard drive only and disable the wi-fi function ?

Is there a way to use the time capsule as an external hard drive only and disable the wi-fi function ?

    Yes.
    1) Connect an Ethernet cable from one of the LAN <--> ports on your existing wireless router to the WAN "O" port on the Time Capsule
    2) Go through the standard configuration suggested by the setup "wizard"
    3) Then manually turn off the wireless function using AirPort Utility

    hey,
i've just installed the keyboard driver(192 for mac) downloaded from the palm site. after hotsynch i reset the palm and then find myself stuck in the preferences screen.
i can change the preferences and even flip to other palm apps so long as i hit the physical buttons, (calendar, calculator etc), BUT... i can't get to the over all list of apps, can't USE the keyboard...
    - half the palm is frozen???
this is a bit of a miserable situation. i finally have an original fold out keyboard which i'm desperate to get using after months of struggling with an infra red 'pockettop' that had hissy fits and rarely played fair..
    can anyone please advise!
    thanks.....

Hopefully this thread isn't completely dead after a couple of years.
I'm having the exact same issue as Sam except I don't have the luxury of a memory card (or maybe I do and just don't know it, I'm still getting used to this device, but from what I can tell I don't have one).  And I've found that it's not so much that the screen is frozen but that the stylus is no longer centered and is in fact off about half an inch down and to the left from where it should be, which makes it impossible to press the 'application' button on the screen to reset the stylus and see that my keyboard drivers have, in fact, been installed.
Any ideas? I'm getting tired of soft, warm and hard reboots every ten minutes- which can't be good for the device either...
     Thanks for any help!

  • Bluetooth keyboard and mouse not function on BootCamp3.0 + Windows 7

    Hi,
    I am 24'' iMac user.
I have installed boot Camp 3.0 on Windows 7, all devices functions well except bluetooth keyboard and mouse. Both of them cannot be found and paired.
Any one know how to slove this problem?
    Thanks.

Have you tried reading the many other posts on this forum that talk about this issue? It seems that by default the services are not enabled for some peripheral devices. Try right-clicking the bluetooth icon, selecting "show my bluetooth devices" (or similar i dont ahve it in front of me), then right click the keyboard/mouse, go to the Services tab and make sure the services are enabled.

  • IPad Mini paired with bluetooth keyboard - periodically losing all Function keys

    iPad Mini 6.0.2 (10A550)
Model MD529LL (32 gig wifi only)
    Apple Bluetooth Keyboard (Model A1314)
I'm listening to the Mini, unplugged from power, with headphones, and the bluetooth keyboard connected.  When playing music using either the IOS Music app, or Pandora, I am periodically losing the keyboard Function keys (brightness, track back, play/pause, track forward, mute, and volume up and down).  Yet all other keyboard functions keep working -- I'm able to type email messages even though the Function keys are not working.
I have not found the exact combination of activities that causes the Function keys to stop working.  I've tried using only Pandora, or only Music, letting the screen sleep, wake it back up with different methods.  I can't break it at will, but eventually it does stop working.  A power off and reboot of the iPad restores functionality.
Has anyone seen a bug of this type reported yet?

  • HT1941 Bluetooth keyboard setup has locked up keyboard, it's looking for a wireless keyboard, none of the keys on the keyboard are functioning, I can get out of the screen, or shut down my Mac, ... anyone??

The bluetooth keyboard setup has locked my keyboard, none of the keys are functioning, holding down the power button does nothing, I don't know how I got into wireless keyboard setup, and I don't know how to get out. Anyone?

    Hi:
I wish my suggestion had gotten you further.
I do suggest you try to connect the keyboard again.  The request for a number is a step in it trying to pair.  If it gets by the number, it sometimes takes a little while to get connected.  If you are unable to get it connected and want a new one, I have been using Apple Bluetooth keyboards for years - and I like them. The one I have (the newest model) only uses two batteries and is very thin.
Speaking of batteries, if you are not already doing so, you might consider rechargeables.  I have a drawer full of them and use a 15 minute charger.  I go tired of buying batteries and rechargeables are environmentally friendly to boot. At the moment, I use 2450 mAh Energizers and a 15 minute Energizer charger (all purchased new on eBay at a very reasonable price).
I am far from an iPad "expert," although I have one.  If my suggestion below does not help, post your question in a separate thread in the iPad forum.
I had a terrible time syncing my iCal on my Mac with my iPad iCal (confusing - hopefully it makes sense).  I quit using iCloud as that added to the confusion. There is a facility to one-time sync items.  When you connect your computer to your iPad, iTunes opens.  The system begins a process (automatic backup and so on). After it finishes, you can click on "info."  At the bottom of the screen, there is an advanced section.  You can select any of the items and then force it to sync. The iCal information from your computer would be deposited on the iPad.
After all that, I do not use a Google calendar so the information may be worthless to you.
If you want to reset the iPad to factory settings, you can do that when it is connected to iTunes (one of the options).  Me being me, I try never to erase anything.
