    I am trying to connect my macbook pro to my iphone 4 using bluetooth.  but they don't seem to find each other.

    See this link http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3647 describing what Bluetooth profiles the iPhone supports. You cannot connect the computer and iPhone together for the purpose of trading files.
    What are you trying to connect and do?

  • Bluetooth MacBook Pro - iPhone4 issue!

    Hi and tnxs for reading.
    I have a MacBook Pro and a iPhone4. I'd like to connect both devices via Bluetooth to share the MacBook Lan Internet connection but there is no way of doing it.
    I have no problem with the iPad2, iPad3, iPhone3GS, but with the iPhone4, after the bluetooth setup is established, I get the error "Cannot connect to MacBook Pro, device not supported"...
    Any help please?
    Tnxs

    Hello Everyone,
    I just want to add some more information.  This used to work a few months ago (before this last iOS release).  I have used my iPhone 4 as a hot spot, and connected to my macbook pro via bluetooth and it worked just fine.  Now it does not work.  I personally believe it is a glitch in the iOS release that only affected the iPhone4.  There are numerous other issues that this has caused (one example is the bluetooth connectivity on the micoach product).  However, since the iPhone 4 is the bottom of the totem pole, I would not expect a fix.  From reading around the internet (all of which is true by the way), things are just fine on the iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 with the new iOS and bluetooth.

  • Bluetooth Macbook Pro Retina Won't Respond or Turn Off

    I have a wireless trackpad paired to my Macbook Pro Retina via bluetooth. This has been working fine for a fair few weeks up until the last few days when the trackpad stops working and starts searching for bluetooth, but my bluetooth says it's on. I try to turn off the bluetooth on the Macbook and it will not turn off. It just freezes and stays "on" but not working. In addition, every time I try to access the bluetooth settings, everything on the setting page works except for the "turn bluetooth off" button.
    The only "fix" I have found so far is to restart my computer which is a huge hassle. Anyone else with this problem or know how to fix it?

    A couple of things to try,
    SMC reset:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    Follow directions for a battery you should not remove yourself
    NVRAM/PRAM reset
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
    You may have to reset some of your prefences after this, including the BT set up, as this "flushes" out the set up which may have become corrupted somehow.
    If no joy post back, there are a few other things to check.

  • Bluetooth, macbook, vista, wiimote!

    ok so, i have my macbook with 10.5.1 on it, and an up-to-date bootcamp 2.0 install of windows vista ultimate (yeah i know... but i lost my xp cd). so anyways, im trying to do this neat trick with a wiimote+IR pen+custom software to make kind of a touchscreen or more like a smart-board type thing. (check out the project at http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~johnny/) well anyways, i have my light pen, i have the windows install, i have the built in bluetooth, and i have my wiimote. the problem is, i CAN connect my wiimote to the computer, but it wont stay connected, so when using the bluesoleil software he suggests, after installing it, my bluetooth wont work anymore and this is a problem. does anyone know how to get bluesoleil to work on a macbook with built-in bluetooth because i believe it is looking for a usb dongle.

    HEY I DONE IT!!!
    I HAD TO INSTALL WINDOWS XP THOUGH. THIS IS WHAT YOU NEED TO DO!
    insert the mac os x 10.5 install dvd into your computer and mount it to paralelles. then do not let it install bootcamp but instead open my computer and right click the cd drive then click open. now open the drivers folder then open the apple folder. now copu apple bluetooth enabler installer and apple bluetooth installer to the desktop. once you have done that you dont need the cd anymore. now double click both files you copied and they will install. now note no window will open when they are installing. they install secretly. this should take max 2 mins. one that is done install bluesoleil 5.5.
    once installed open the task manager and in the processors tab terminate all these apps. If some of these arnt in the processers tab it doesnt matter. it just means you have to close less
    -BsHelpCS.exe
    -BtTray.exe
    -Bluesoleil.exe
    -BluesoleilCS.exe
    once that is navigate to this folder: c:\program files\IVT corporationg\Bluesoleil\Driver\USB and open the file btcusb. it is a system information file. in there copy this directly under [Control Flages]
    ExcludeFromSelect = USB\Vid05ac&Pid8205
    now note your number may be different at the end but usually it isnt. to find this open up bluetooth preferences in control panel or by right clicking the bluetooth icon on the taskbar. in there select the details tab and select hardware ids in the drop down list. your number will be shown there.
    once you have done that in the same file open (btcusb) hold control and click F. this opens up a search box. search for belkin. once you have found it replace the entire line with this
    %Apple.DeviceDesc%=BTusb_DDI, USB\Vid05ac&Pid8205
    remember the number at the end may be different on you machine. make sure its the same one as the one in the line before.
    once that is done save the file and close it.
    now navigate to c:\program files\IVT Corporation\BlueSoleil
    in here open up the file bttl this is a setup information files aswell.
    in here find this
    [HW110]
    ID=USB\Vid05ac&Pid8205
    Type=Bluetooth USB Dongle
    DLL=Driver\USB\btcusb.dll
    DLLD=Driver\USB\btcusbd.dll
    Inffile=Driver\USB\btcusb.inf
    Manufacture=Belkin
    delete the above and replace it with the text below.
    [HW110]
    ID=USB\Vid05ac&Pid8205
    Type=Bluetooth USB Dongle
    DLL=Driver\USB\btcusb.dll
    DLLD=Driver\USB\btcusbd.dll
    Inffile=Driver\USB\btcusb.inf
    Manufacture=Apple
    remember to change the number at the end of the top line with your number if it is different
    now scroll to the top of the document and where it says
    [DEFAULT]
    PORT=
    NUM=110
    DriverRt=C:\Program Files\IVT Corporation\BlueSoleil\
    TL=HW110
    replace NUM= 111 (this could be any number) with NUM 110
    save the file and close it.
    now re-install the apple drivers by double clicking on them
    open up c:\program files\IVT Corporation\BlueSoleil and open BlueSoleil.
    down by the taskbar it should say found bluetooth and bla bla bla. then follow the johny lee instructions.
    also a hint read the troubleshooting steps in the readme provided with the wii remote whiteboard. you might experince some errors when opening the app!

  • Bluetooth + Macbook Pro

  • Text messaging with RAZR through bluetooth MacBook

    Hi,
    I just picked up a MacBook the other day and have been trying to get it to work with my bluetooth enabled RAZR. I CAN sync my contact list with address book no problem. I was reading that there is a way to send and recieve text messages using my macbook, once the phone is paired and connected. I can go to address book, find my razr, then it says to enter a passkey. I make up a pass key on the computer, but it never asks for the passkey on the phone. Despite that, it then says that the phone is paired. When I look at address book however, the bluetooth box is grayed out, meaning that the phone is NOT connected. I can see all my contacts, and I click on the phone number to bring up the option to send an SMS text, but that option is grayed out since my phone is not connected.
    For some reason my RAZR will sync and is recognized no problem, but it will not stay connected for me to text message my contacts through my MacBook. My service provider is T-Mobile, if that makes any difference.
    Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
    MacBook, 2.0 Ghz, 80GB, 1GB RAM   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   white

    Hi appleguy6688:
    Addressbook currently does not support the razr phone.
    However, Bluephone Elite will allow you to send Text Messages via your RAZR.

  • Bluetooth - MacBook Pro and Motorola w376g

    I AM DIRECTLY RE-POSTING THIS FROM ANOTHER USER...i saw no answers there but i am having the EXACT SAME PROBLEM and REALLY want some help!
    To everyone who are familiar with Motorola, I am having problems trying to connect with my cell phone via Bluetooth when I am attempting to sync files. When I set up the connection with my Macbook, the setup was successful when paired with each other. (Macbook and Motorola w376g) But when I use my phone and the Macbook, I couldn't connect with my cell phone with the Macbook because according with the Macbook, my phone "does not have the necessary services." Any ideas?
    (Also, this isn't really to do with mac, but does anyone know how i can get realtones on my motorola w376g other than using the few that are at tracfone.com? I don't care if they are free or not, i just don't want to be stuck with poly tones on a phone that can play realtones)

    Have you turned on *Bluetooth Sharing* in the Sharing system preferences pane?
    If you have, what Services does your phone report as having in the Bluetooth system preferences pane? For file transfers it needs *OBEX File Transfer* and *OBEX Object Push*

  • Bluetooth MacBook Pro - unstable

    has anybody an idea how to reinstall the old Bluetooth Firmware for the MacBookPro?
    Bluetooth is more or less unusable!
    Why a Bluetooth mighty Mouse, if you can't use it, it's frustrating!
    Thanks for help

    I just noticed that after the update my Bluetooth mouse does not work. I was suspecting the firmware upgrade and was hoping other users would come forward with the same problem. Also BT is not powered on, and the check box to turn BT on under system prefs is not clickable. The BT icon in the menu bar on top of the screen is grayed out?
    I miss my mighty mouse.
    Has anyone found a workaround for this calamity?

  • I lost bluetooth when I downloaded the Yosemite upgrade - my BOSE Wave no longer connects

    Yosemite upgrade disabled bluetooth

    (Macbook Pro Retina 13") 10.10
    Ok, A few updates ago Apple resolved this problem and its been fine up until I updated to Yosemite...
    Before my wifi and bluetooth were 'fighting' if my bluetooth was on my wifi wouldn't connect unless i did it maually...
    NOW
    My Bluetooth speaker won't connect at all now... and the wifi also disconnects itself.
    Is anyone else having this problem?
    Other apple problems include,
    1) My iPhone 5 shows 'no service' (for 2 weeks now)
    2) when i open multiple pictures they're meant to open in one window but often open in separate windows!
    Thanks!

  • IPhone and Bluetooth

    Is it possible to use sms messaging with from a bluetooth macbook or iMac? I got the phone to pair with my computer, but when I attempt to try to send an sms message, the sms choice is not highlighted.

    Why would enabling BT file transfers make sense?
    My
    computer, which is much more powerful than my
    iPhone,
    never sends photo's over BT.
    Send it via email, that's what everyone will be
    doing
    from now on. BT phone to phone transfers don't
    make
    much sense when I can email to anyone regardless
    of
    distance.
    Same for BT sync. Now, why I can't WiFI sync is
    another matter. .Mac let's me "sync" over the
    internet, iPhone should eventually let me do the
    same. Even if it's limited to small amounts of
    data
    (e.g not Movies).
    But I doubt BT file transfers from iPhone to
    iPhone
    is the future; but rather the past.
    Yes it makes sense, If I want to give my number to
    someone or I don't want to carry a cable. Let me
    choose not the company. I also have the N80 and miss
    many phone features. The smart side of the phone is
    good.
    Also I would like to use my Mac to dial out and write sms. Also would like to use my phone as a modem. And it would be nice to use a BT enabled printer to print the documents we can now read.

  • Thank you iFelix!!!

    I got my Extreme quite a while back, with a 1st generation MacBook, so no 802.11n joy there. Recently, I got a Mac Mini and an AppleTV, and thought to myself "Hey, I'll try that 'n' thing"
    First failure: Wireless configuration via MacBook pro. No joy.
    Second failure: Wireless configuration via Mac Mini. No joy.
    Third semi-failure: Bring it in to the entertainment room, hook it to the Mini via Ethernet (iFelix always says "Did you try configuring via Ethernet?") Hook it up, configure, green light, some joy, take it back out to the DSL router, hook it up, green light, more joy, go back in, Mini's connected, but no internet (Mini might have though AppleTV was supposed to be Extreme, maybe rehooked ethernet between those two too soon).
    Restart Mini! Joy, "N" network joy!
    Plus! MacBook(1st gen) is connected to Mini via bluetooth, Mini is configured to share Internet via bluetooth, MacBook is connected!
    Remember, iFelix always says: "Have you tried configuring with the Ethernet cable connected?"

    I have a next generation Mac Mini with Core2Duo, it's the "2" that's the pertinent piece of information

  • No sound, no slideshow, won't recognize .mov file

    Hi.
    I have a whole string of problems that went from bad to worse... I sent an iPhoto slideshow to iDVD.
    First, I couldn't get changes in font style and size to stay after leaving one menu for another. Every time I returned to a previous menu the default font would be reinstated.
    Next I tried to undo and operation and iDVD disappeared, shut down.
    I got an update for iDVD, Quicktime and others (Aperture, Bluetooth, macbook EFI Firmware) and restarted.
    Then I tried to resend the slideshow from iPhoto to iDVD and got <Can't Find Audio File. Missing File Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/iDVD/Themes/IDVD7/Audio> Now there is no theme music in the theme menus. MPEG4 icon is there, and menu song title but time reads 00:00 and the volume bar is frozen at min.
    After reading some forums I trashed the .com.apple.iDVD.plist in User/Library/Preferences, repaired disc permissions and then restarted and tried again.
    Now after sending iPhoto slideshow to iDVD I get <Internal iDVD Error During Last Action. This is not a movie.> If I try and drag the movie into a slideshow or movie box I get <Unsupported File Type: Unknown Format> I get the black and yellow striped broken chain icon and still no sound.
    I looked at the console, and found multiples of the following iDVD error messages:
    2/17/10 3:06:04 PM iDVD[15168] Looked for URLs on the pasteboard, but found none.

    Henji,
    have you used a maintainance application lately, that has cleaned some caches? Then check, if you still have the file "com.apple.xpchelper.cache"  in the System Library in the folder "/System/Library/Caches/".
    If this file is missing, that might be the reason that you cannot play or import videos any longer. Then restore it from your backup, if you have a clone of your system.  ALJ posted a link to a copy of this file in another thread: Re: Import video to Aperture library on Mountain Lion
