Bluetooth Magic Mouse = Slow Wifi

Has anyone else found this? I'm running a new Macbook Pro with latest Yosemite and every time i turn the magic mouse on, boom, internet drops to 3kb/s on avg..every now and again it will kick back up but pretty much consistent hangs! I love the mouse but literally turn it off when i switch to the browser otherwise i can't get anything done. -_-
Cheers

Hi!,
I have this problem as well. It's very annoying!
Hope there is a fix for this problem, but i think it's a problem in the hardware.
It's a well known problem, Apple fix it please!
Thanks

  • How I got the Bluetooth Magic mouse and Aluminum keyboard to work in XP

NOTE: The following steps fixed my issue. I thought I would share what worked for me but I really don't ever visit these discussion groups. I used a combination of Sysinternal tools to isolate what was causing my issue and rectified it.
I couldn't for the life of me get the bluetooth magic mouse and keyboard working in a bootcamp'd windows xp. Here are the steps that I performed to finally get it to work. The assumptions are that you are running a clean XP build with SP3 and all windows updates installed.
    1. Using a USB mouse and keyboard. Insert the OS X install disc into the drive and run through the bootcamp drivers install. (These steps are outlined at Page 12 in the Apple Boot Camp Installation Guide: http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/bootcampinstall-setup.pdf). Let the installers run per apple instructions in the bootcamp installation guide. At the end it will want to reboot. Reboot the system.
    2. After the system reboots login and run the Apple Software Update utility to update from bootcamp 3.1 to 3.2. It will run through a bunch of installers and ask to reboot at the end. Reboot.
    3. After the system reboots login and go to start=>run and type "services.msc" to bring up the services control panel.
    4. Double-click the "Bluetooth Support Service" to open the properties.
    5. Go to the "log on" tab and look to see what is set. If it is set to "NT Authority\LocalService" then click above it to change to "Local System account." Then click "OK." It will tell you the changes won't take effect until the service is restarted. No worries.
    6. You will be back in the main services control panel. Make sure the "Bluetooth Support Service" is highlighted and look up to the left and select "restart the service."
    7. Close all the open windows and then go to start=>run and type "control panel" and hit enter.
    8. Double-click the "Bluetooth devices" control panel applet and follow the Apple instructions provided on Page 18 of the guide referred to earlier. Start with the mouse first. Stop when done with the mouse and don't continue on to the keyboard yet.
    9. At this point my mouse was "installed" but did not show "connected" in the bluetooth devices applet. I then highlighted the mouse and clicked the "properties" button down to the right.
    10. Once in the properties of the mouse I selected the "services" tab. My issue before making the switch to "Local System" account for the Bluetooth services was then when I tried to click the check box to enable "Drivers for keyboard, mice, etc (HID)" I would get an "access denied" error. Now that the switch has been made you should be able to click that check box without error. Click OK after enabling.
    11. You will suddenly see systray (lower right of the screen where the clock is) saying that new hardware has been detected and enabled. Once this is all done you will see "connected" below the device in the Bluetooth applet. Give your mouse a go. It should be working now. Sweet!
    12. Follow the steps in the Apple guide for your keyboard. This should work too now. Sweet!
    Best of luck.

It depends on how far it is and how thick your walls are. If there plasterboard partitions and only 10 feet apart then probably.
If you have a mobile phone with bluetooth, then try sending the computer a picture of file from similar distances to that you intend using the keyboard, if it works then a bluetooth keyboard and mouse should.

  • RF Keyboard & Bluetooth Magic Mouse?

Can an RF wireless keyboard be used at the same time as the bluetooth Magic Mouse or are RF and bluetooth mutually exclusive?

RF and Bluetooth are two totally separate wireless technologies. Imacs currently support BT but DO NOT support RF. There may be third party adapters that would make them work with RF but I haven't looked.

  • Magic Mouse causes WiFi disconnect

I'm using a Macbook Pro 2009, running OSX Lion 10.7.4. The use of a Magic Mouse causes my Macbook to disconnect from my WiFi. When using a Magic Mouse, I am frequently disconnected from my wireless network — once every few minutes.
Upon switching to a conventional, corded mouse, I don't experience any problem.
I also use a bloothtooth Apple wireless keyboard, without any problems.

Sometimes bluetooth interfers with wifi because they operate on the same 2.4Ghz band.  Try a lower channel number (1-3) on your wifi router.

  • My bluetooth magic mouse and trackpad suddenly quit working.  This has been going on for a month or more.  Eventually continual

I have a Bluetooth Mac keyboard, trackpad and magic mouse.  They fail regularly and only a series of resets eventually cures the problem. I have switched to a USB mouse, but that eventually fails too.  2011 mini, all current software.  Mouse still moves cursor, but no left click.  Trackpad loses click ability.  Repeated shutdowns.  Something is very wrong.

If even the USB mouse is failing, that's interesting. Make sure you remove the batts from any nearby BT mice, and reboot the system.  USB mouse should work fine, if it's still not clicking, something needs to be probably changed in the system preferences.
    Try these:

  • Macbook Pro keyboard and track pad freezes after a day or two of using bluetooth Magic Mouse

The first time this happened I thought my 3 y/old 17" Macbook Pro had died. The mouse cursor had frozen to the top left of the screen and the keyboard was also frozen and no matter what I did it didnt unfreeze. Even restarting. I searched extensively online and the only solution offered was to re install the system software.
The next day I took it into work, opened it ip there and the cursor and keyboard was working again.
This led me to believe there was a conflict with my recently purchased Magic Mouse and/or bluetooth.  Even though I had been using the mouse for well over 3 weeks with no problem.
I resumed using the Magic Mouse with the computer for another week and then the keyboard/trackpad froze again. The Magic Mouse remained active.  This time, I took the batteries out of the mouse and took the computer downstairs. After a couple of hours everything is working fine again.
Has anyone had this experience and knows how to fix? Or am I resigned to using a wired mouse?

I have never encountered anything similar. However, try resetting the PRAM and SMC.

  • Other mouse besides Bluetooth Magic Mouse not recognized?

I am fairly new to the forum, so I am sorry if this is in the wrong section...
I bought my computer last summer, and it came with the Magic Mouse and wireless keyboard, both, as all of you probably know, bluetooth. Nothing is wrong with these things. In fact, I much prefer them over other mice and keyboards. The problem is the left and right click buttons. I understand that I can go into System Preferences and get the Magic Mouse to have both the Left and Right clickers, which I have done. I didn't really enjoy the feel of it, as I prefer feeling both of the buttons over just one large one. So, I decided to hook up my wireless Microsoft mouse with a small USB connection. When I disabled my Magic Mouse and connected the Microsoft mouse, nothing happened. I wasn't able to use the Microsoft mouse, which works fine on any other non-Apple computer that I test it on.
Is there any way that I can go about fixing this problem and making it so that the Microsoft mouse is recognized by the computer?
    Thanks,
    ~Elliot

    Hello E:
    Welcome to Apple discussions.
I decided to hook up my wireless Microsoft mouse with a small USB connection.
Are you trying to do this with a USB "dongle?"
When I disabled my Magic Mouse
How did you do this? Did you delete the magic mouse in system preferences?
In any event, I have not seen anything like what you are describing. I am not criticizing non-Apple devices, but I am unable to suggest troubleshooting steps for non-Apple hardware as I have no experience with them.

  • Mac Pro 2012 and unacceptable - restless BLUETOOTH Magic Mouse

It is unfortunate, it is a great nuisance, is a grave error in my opnion by Apple, a person like me who spend a lot of money on a new computer and I can not work 10-12 hours a day at home, because a mouse also not cheap, drives me crazy.
I have wanted to throw the Magic Mouse out of the window.
I know the problem is the bluetooth. I have the computer to within 1 meter. And I think I've tried almost everything.
The computer is under warranty, but from what I've read on the forums, no solution ... well, yes, buy a new USB mouse :-(
    By the way, I have a Mac Pro Quad-Core 2012 3.2GHz / 12GB Ram. OSX 10.6.8
I wanted to record my complaint.
    Shame!
    PD: Forgiving English Google Translate.

Welcome to the Apple User-to-User forums! Everyone here is a user just like you.

If you want to register your complaint with Apple, Inc, you need to use the Feedback link or contact the Apple Store or AppleCare.
Macintosh computers use all-devices-active . When you decide to use your wireless mouse, the wired mouse and your tablet are also active. The input is the SUM of all movements from all the attached devices -- unless you physically disconnect them.

  • Why is the Magic Mouse slow and impressive on Mavericks?

After upgrade to Mavericks, the Magic Mouse become slow and Impressive. This doens,t happened on Mountain Lion.
I did a clean installation and the batery of Magic Mouse is full!

Did you post from the system that has the problem? (Your "More System Details" list shows Flash 11.7 instead of 11.8 for some reason.)
This is some standard guidance that addresses the most common issues with Flash in Firefox. I'm sure you've seen some of it before, but just in case:
    (1) Make sure all recorders/downloaders that interact with Flash media are as up-to-date as possible, or disable them.
    (2) Disable hardware graphics acceleration in Firefox and in Flash ''(I see from your post that you've done this part)''
    (A) In Firefox, un-check the box here and restart:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced > General > "Use hardware acceleration when available"
    (B) In Flash, see this support article from Adobe: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html#main_Solve_video_playback_issues
    (3) Disable protected mode (Windows Vista/7/8)

  • Bluetooth Magic Mouse Issues (OS X Yosemite 10.10.3)

Upgrade to 10.10.3 has made Magic Mouse unusable other than for the first few minutes following reboot.  Have tried all suggested fixes including reset of NVRAM, SMC & turn off/on Bluetooth.  Keyboard and track pad don't appear to have the same issues.  Mouse works fine initially and after reset, but once applications (i.e. Mail, Safari, Calendar, etc.) are opened, device loses connection and connection won't re-establish for 10-15 minutes.  Replaced all batteries to new & also deleted and repaired Bluetooth devices to see if that would fix.
USB Mouse works without issue, but lacks functionality of Magic Mouse so looking for a solution.

    Hey. I just fixed it
    Try this
    go to your library/preferences/
    find the folder "SystemConfiguration"
make a back up on your desktop then delete it from library/preferences/
restart computer ( your mac will remake those files)
    viola working bluetooth and wifi

  • Bluetooth magic mouse battery

My magic mouse battery hasn't lasted long, are you supposed to switch off the mouse underneath when not in use?

    Hi s:
    Welcome to Apple discussions.
I never shut my BT devices off unless I am going to be away for an extended time. Apple BT devices go into a very low power mode after a brief period of non-use.
As a thought, you might want to consider using rechargeable batteries. I have a drawer full of Duracell 2650 mAh batteries and a 15 minute Duracell charger. I got both new on E-bay at a very reasonable price. Rechargeables do not last as long as Lithium batteries (lower voltage, I think) but they are environmentally friendly and you are only 15 minutes from fresh power.

  • The bluetooth connection to my wireless keyoard, magic mouse, AND wifi connection all cut out intermittently

I bought my imac in late november, and for the last two months I've been plagued by connection problems to everything, any help/solutions please? I've looked around and a lot of people have complained about software problems with Lion, could it be anything to do with that?

    Hello:
I suggest you reset the SMC and see if that helps.
Also, I would make the mouse a favorite.

  • Is there any way to find out how much battery life you have on you're Bluetooth Magic Mouse and Apple Keyboard on your Windows Partion?

I'm a avid gamer and for my gaming needs most of the games that I love require Windows ,but due to my constant clicking I drain my mouse battery very fast so I always have backups. Is there anyway I can check how much mouse battery I have left so I can be sure before I start a gaming session that I'll be fine? Switching back and forth between partions is an option ,but I find it as more of a last resort then something to do normally.
    Thanks in advance!

call them, tell them you NEED a new battery installed, and they need to tell you when they can do it.  That is their job to help you! Give pushback if necessary.
