Bluetooth mic for making videos?

Since the sound when making a video on the iPhone is usually bad (if you are more than a couple feet away from the iPhone), is there a Bluetooth mic that will improve the sound quality?
The reviews of the Scosche freedom mic are pretty terrible.
Is there anything else out there?
Thanks.

Nate,
I'd like to suggest that you post your question on Apple's Support Forum:
Community: Using iPhone | Apple Support Communities
You are likely to get more info there.
Why not just a bluetooth headset? There are some very good ones out there; though I can't suggest any specific models.
Hope you find a good solution!

  • Enhancing the mic for the video camera

Does anyone know of any micas that you can attach that capture better sound? Also, what do you think of the built-in mic for video?

First, buy the $20 KM-IPHONE-2TRS iPhone 4 Y adapter to plug in an external Mic and Headphone. http://www.kvconnection.com/product-p/km-iphone-2trs.htm
Second, I would use Dual System Audio. Record Scratch audio via iPhone 4 internal mic & record Production audio via a Zoom H2 or Zoom H4n portable audio recorder.
You would sync up the Scratch and Production audio channels via PluralEyes http://www.singularsoftware.com/pluraleyes.html The mono analaog audio recorded on the iPhone 4 internal Mic / external Mic input cuts off below 200 Hz and has other fidelity issues.
Third, I would invest in a battery powered Rode NTG-2 Mic Kit with the excellent Pearston LMT00 Shockmount (to reduce handling noise) versus the lower end Rode VideoMic with flimsy Shockmount. The NTG-2 / Shockmount Kit is $269 at B&H. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/481528-REG/RodeNTG_2_Condenser_ShotgunMicrophone.html
Fourth, You should also invest in a good deadcat fuzzy to reduce wind noise and a boom pole when shooting outside.
Personally, I use a Zoom H2 with a $25 ATR-3350 Lav Mic and a $50 ECZ-990 Zoom Mic feeding into a Y cable on the H2 for 2 channel audio and sync in PluralEyes with the scratch audio off my iPhone 4. The 2 battery powered Mics mentioned above are real “portable” also.

  • Wireless or bluetooth mic for iPad

I would like to record a series of lectures using the iPad. There are plenty of apps to allow for this, but if the iPad is any length of space away from the lecturer, the fidelity will be awful and I want very good fidelity for the recordings.
I'd like to find a small, clip-on wireless or Bluetooth mic to use for the recording of these talks. Anyone know of something like that out there?
Thanks for any help you can give.

The company that make iMuff has just emailed me a reply.
    REPLY:
We haven't announced official support, but it does work. It's not a perfect match though.
    From a recent forum post:
I know a lot of you are interested to know if the iMuffs support the iPhone. The good news is that it does work, but there are a few limitations that we've noticed so far. It's too early to be 100% conclusive, but here's what my testing has shown so far.
    1) The iPhone does not have A2DP support built in, so you can't use the headphones without the iPod adapter.
    2) When you plug in the iMuffs iPod adapter, the iPhone asks if you want to put the iPhone into airplane mode where it turns off it's radios. If you hit "no", it'll go ahead and give power to the adapter and everything wills start to work. So far, this seems to work fine, but the radio range and reliability of the iMuffs might be worse because of interference.
    3) Unfortunately, the iPhone seems to behave a little differently than the other iPods and one thing we've noticed so far is that when the iPhone goes to sleep (after pausing the music for a minute or so) it kills power to the iPod adapter. What that means if that if you pause the music for a while, you have to wake the iPhone up manually before you can get music again. Depending on how you use it, that might not be that big of a deal.
So that's what I've noticed so far. We'll continue testing, of course, and I'd be curious to hear what others have experienced, so feel free to post your own insights.

  • Programs to use for making video games

I am interested in trying to make my own video game. I just upgraded to a 15.4" MacBook Pro with a 2.33ghz intel duo core 2 processor, 256mb Graphics cards, 120gb hard drive, and 3 gb of ram. I am new to this whole gaming thing, and need to know what kind of programs to get to start doing it. Does anyone have any suggestions?

    hi,
well motion could certainly help with producing some graphic elements to use in a game. You could produce explosions and other particle animations. It all depends on what kind of game you want to make, if its a true 3D game you will need a 3D engine which is a whole other kind of fish. And in any case to bring all the graphic elements together with the UI and rules of the game you will need to delve deep into coding. For that you will need to chose an application that can compile code into an application. There is a progrm that is pretty easy to pick up, is very powerful and can compile to Windows and Linux as well as Mac.

I must warn you though that coding is a dark and scary place.

  • Can stereo be input to iphone or ipad for making video

I am trying to record video but want to use the out jacks of my hifi amp for audio at the same time, is this possible with iphone 4 or ipad, in stereo? Guess you could say I want to use my iphone or ipad on occasion like a normal video camera but I want the stereo input to transfer to my desktop for editing.

Well, since Microsoft has never made a version of IE for iOS, the answer is no.

  • How to use itunes for making video with software Studio

How can I use my downloaded music files with my video making software?

Purchased music from the iTUnes store is in a "AAC protected" format. It can only be used in iTUnes. Any music you buy online these days will have some protection on it where you can only use it in there program.
The way around this is to burn the purchased songs to a CD in iTUnes. Then goto edit>preferences>advanced tab>Import sub tab and set your import settings to something like MP3.
Now put the burned CD back in the PC and "Re"import it into iTunes so its imported in a MP3 format so you can use it in any program. Before importing it tho you need to manually add the name of the song, artist album ect ect

  • Best option for making video podcast tutorials using a tablet

I am not very familiar with the use of tablets but I would like to be able to produce tutorials for my students that look like this:
    http://www.screencast.com/users/pretzej/folders/Jing/media/93ef7f12-2912-454c-87 d1-701b618e250f
Would Inkwell work? I am not clear that it is still supported in Leopard. I primarily use an iMac 24" 2.8GHZ Core Duo Extreme. Ideally, a tablet notebook would work best but I would like to make a minimal investment. Would a Wacom Bamboo be a good choice.
    Thanks.

I don't know about "best" but here is a list of Mac-compatible webcams:
    http://www.mac-compatible-web-cam.com
If price is no object, one of the best is the one built into the Thunderbolt Display, as long as you don't need to hold the camera by hand and don't mind the size and bulk of a 27" monitor built around your camera:

  • Can I use a Bluetooth headphone/microphone for capture sound instead of normal iPhone mic when shooting video?

Can I use a Bluetooth headphone/microphone for capture sound instead of normal iPhone mic when shooting video?
The sound when I record video is not so good, so I'm trying to use the Bluetooth headphone/microphone to capture a person voice but not know which setting to use.

    Hi Robert
Thanks for answering. I didn't know where to post other than the bluetooth forum which is relatively quiet and had no answers forthcoming.
Yes the voice isn't reaching the amp although it is registering on the input bar in the Sound System Prefs, just won't "play through" as it were. I can't see how it could be done I was just hoping someone might see something I am missing.
It seems a shame that you can't do it as iTunes on an old iBook makes a good juke box for DJ'ing and with everything becoming wireless these days it seems sensible that you could cut that one last wire.

  • Video Audio via bluetooth mic?

When asking while purchasing the z10 this past saturday, I asked if this particular bluetooth headseat would allow me to record audio while recording videos from the phone (think remote mic for improved audio quality while at some distance from the phone itself.)  Thus far, I've not been able to produce any effect.  While recording video, with the bluetooth headset active and synced, i still only get audio from the camera's mic itself.
Tell me there's a solution for this... perhaps a v-casting app that is smart enough to pull audio from the headset on demand, etc.

Skype does not yet support video on the Mac, so the best you can do Mac to PC on Skype right now is audio to audio.
Using the iSight camera as the Skype microphone often doesn't work very well, so you probably would be better off using a built-in microphone (if you have one) or an external USB microphone like the Logitech USB Desktop Microphone.
If you want to discuss it further, you can try video connecting to my Mac at [email protected]

    Hi,
IChat uses better Video Compression than Skype does.
On a top flight Mac you can send a 640 X 480 pixel frame up to 30 frames a sec.
    Skype can't match this.
iChat in Video is Peer to Peer. (you can actually Log out of the Buddy list)
Skype seems to borrow something from everyone's bandwidth to make connections.
What do you mean by Business account Tracking ?
iChat Adds (or can add) the First Name, Last Name of your Buddies and create an Address Book Entry
Whether you mark those cards connected with a  company is up to you.
(I have heard of issues with earlier version of iChat and the Address Book that "saw" the Company Name as the part of the Name and linking several Screen Names to the one name
Audio on a Mac using Skype tend to be the same as the streaming needs are less.
However you have to rely on any PCs audio abilities from PCs which may not be to the same standard.
Mac to PCs in iChat and AIM can be difficult though.  (It should work but it rarely as simple as Plug and go)
Skype may suit your needs better on ocassions.

Unfortunately the answer to your question is ... No. you cant make the built in music App work the same way that is does on the iPhone. I have no clue why Apple decided to do it this way but they did.
I don't use any of them, but there are other Music apps available for the iPad. You may want to look into one of those. Here are a few of them. You can search for more.

  • I have been looking for a solution for making my videos capable of playing on anything such as: DVD player, Mac, PC, etc.

I have been looking for a solution for making my videos capable of playing on anything such as: DVD player, Mac, PC, etc. I have not found a format that will play with all of these. Is there a format, software, or do you encode it? I am new to production. I can make a video and make it work for a certain thing just not all.

There is no such thing as universal format and that is that. You are looking for the magic pearl that doesn't exist and rather than waste your time on a futile search, it would be better to actually read up on the various formats and their limitations, including how playback devices may or may not support this and that.
