Bluetooth mouse alternate click mountain lion

My magic mouse (bluetooth) right click (alternate click) stopped working after upgrading to Mountain Lion. I tried the following: verified that the mouse settings were correct, rebooted, and rebooted with shift key to be in safe mode. I tried logging in as a different user on my iMac.
I tried using a USB mouse and the right click worked, so the problem seems to be associated with the bluetooth magic mouse.
The mouse is not at fault: I rebooted from a Snow Leopard hard drive and the right click worked fine. I also tried the magic mouse with another mac and the mouse worked fine.
My guess is that there is a library/preferences file with an incorrect or corrupted setting. If so, which one (e.g., com.apple.Bluetooth.plist, com.apple.Bluetooth.plist.lockfile, other ...)? And is it OK to delete the file?

Bump.

  • 3rd party bluetooth mouse can't connect Lion

    Hi there,
There is a problem I found in Mac OS X Lion, I found that the 3rd party bluetooth mouse that couldn't be connect to those computer that installed Mac OS X Lion, beside that, I also got connect and use normally with my bluetooth mouse when I using Snow Leopard, and also I get test with some computer running Snow Leopard that I have, its running good.  But not in Lion.
I tried to reset nvram or reset the bluetooth setting on my Mac Book Air, also not working, and I tried my bluetooth mouse connect to HK Apple Store's demo iMac, also not working, but it just working at my brothers iMac that running Snow Leopard!
Could I have any advice about this?
    Thank you!

On the Mac with Lion installed, the Bluetooth preferences may be corrupted.
    Go to     /LIbary/Preferences
Move the com.apple.Bluetooth.plist file to the Trash.
    Restart your Mac.
Make sure the batteries in the mouse are fresh.
Now open System Preferences > Bluetooth
Make sure On and Discoverable are selected.
Click:  Set Up New Device ...
    See if that works.

  • Is there any way to restart the bluetooth module without restarting Mountain Lion?

Im using a Logitech V470 bluetooth mouse. The sensitivity and responsiveness was excellent at first. However, after about 2 to 4 days of using the mouse, it becames jumpy and lags. I found out that it can be solved by restarting the machine. Is there any way of restarting only the bluetooth module but not the whole system? I've tried turning it off and on the preferences, but it didn't solve the jumpy problem. I've also read about resetting the PRAM/NVRAM and it clears up some problems, but according to the instructions given, it will reset the boot setting. So, I don't want to loose my bootcamp partition.
    Thanks.

    Hello:
To my knowledge, no to your question.
However, I would suggest you reset both the PRAM and SMC at least once.

  • Magic Mouse, Trackpad, Bluetooth not working after Mountain Lion install

Is anyone else having the same issue after installing ML? I first noticed that my Magic Mouse didn't scroll as usual when I opened Safari.  When I went to preferences, it only gave me tracking & double-click speed options- no scrolling options.  I check the Accessibility preferences, but that didn't seem to help either.  When I tried my Trackpad to check the preferences, it said that one wasn't connected, even though that's exactly what I used to open it in the first place.  Now when I look at the top right hand corner for Bluetooth connectivity- it says Bluetooth- not available in a grayed out font. When I check out the About My Mac and check the Hardware->Bluetooth section it says 'No information found'.
I've tried the SMC/PRAM reset, unclicked "Disable automatic login" option in Security & Privacy preference page.  Shut down my iMac and turned off the keyboard, mouce, and trackpad and restarted them after restarting the iMac.
Now I can seem to find anything else to try.
Does anyone have anything else to try?

    Hi There,
I am having the same issues - is there a fix for it yet?

  • Bluetooth Mouse Not Scrolling in Lion

Man these forums come in handy, Last night I updated my Mac from Snow Leopard to Lion. I went to bed and woke up ready to set up. The scroll window test came up, and I couldnt scroll. Yes I know that the scrolling is inverted in Lion. Either way, it wont scroll. This is the new Magic Mouse. When I was on Snow Leopard, I disabled scrolling because I play Minecraft, it gets rather annoying to click and it scroll thru your inventory. I forgot to enable it back. I dont see a button on Lion to enable scrolling. The scrolling bars aare harder to see, and i am trying to get a young child to start interacting with computers, and this was a good step.

  • Sony MDR-1RBT headphones have crackling or pops in audio when using bluetooth on my iMac - Mountain Lion

I notice crackling noise or pops when I listen to music using my Sony MDR-1RBT bluetooth headphones with my 3.4GHz Intel Core i7 iMac running  OSX 10.8.5
I do not hear the crackling when I listen to the headphones using my MacBook Pro 2.7GHz Intel Core i7 with OSX 10.8.5
I also do not hear the crackling when using wired connection to the headphones.
So it would seem that something with the Bluetooth on the iMac is the problem. But I have no idea how to troubleshoot this further.
Does anyone have any ideas what the cause may be?
I am pretty sure that it is not interference from another device because I can connect to my MacBook Pro in the same area as my iMac with no crackling

    Hi Michael Erb1,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  It may also be worth resetting the NVRAM of your iMac to see if that helps with the crackling:

  • Loss of Magic Mouse function after downloading Mountain Lion

I have lost the "two-finger swipe" back to previous screen function of my Magic Mouse after downloading Mountain Lion. The vertical scroll function still works, only in the opposite direction. Weird! Any ideas?

You must have upgraded from Snow Leopard. The scroll direction has changed to "natural" where you push content in the direction you want it to go, as thought you had you finger on the screen.   You can change it back the other direction In System Preferences > Mouse > uncheck Scroll direction: natural.
The swipe back a page is now a one finger swipe.  You can change that as well in System Preferences > Mouse > More gestures tab.   Click the disclouse triangle for the choices.

  • Since upgrading to Mavericks, I can no longer connect to my Bose Sounddock 10 via Bluetooth.  It was fine under Mountain Lion

Pairing my Bose Sounddock 10 to my Macbook Pro (early 2011) via Bluetooth was fine under Mountain Lion.  After installing Mavericks, connection failed. I deleted the Sounddock & attempted to pair it again.  I get an occasional 'flash' in the 'Devices' list, but no pairing occurs.
I have no issue pairing the Sounddock to my iPad running iOS 7.0.3.
Has Bluetooth been changed for Mavericks?
Is anyone else experiencing similar issues?

I actually have the same problem, since I upgraded to Mavericks my MacBook Pro can't seem to find the Bose sounddock 10. Has anyone found a solution to this.
It still works with the iPhone 5
    Thank you

  • I've paid for my Mountain Lion and can see the transaction in my itunes account, but it fails to download for the past 36 hours. Any solutions, or is the system heavily overloaded?

Can anyone help with this issue? It's hard to beleive that Apple is having such a protracted problem...

Sorry to hear that, it does seem to be stateside where the problems are (been to Vancouver, great City by the way ) Here I downloaded ML at 8pm last night with no issues. I didn't click the main banner I clicked Mountain Lion under I think it was productivity, not sure if that made any difference though tbh. Its worth the wait, runs beautifully so far on my Mid 2011 i7 iMac. If you can maybe try taking your Mac to an Apple store and see if they have better bandwidth for the download.

  • Magic mouse right click problem in Mountain Lion

    Hi!
My Magic mouse right-click doesn't work in Mountain Lion! in previous OSes it was working properly (Leopard and Lion), but when I upgrated to Mountain, this problem occured.
if you click anywhere on the magic mouse, it simply do a click, not a right-click anyway...
I did a lot of searches and changes but the problem is still alive...
somewhere suggested disabling "Secondary Click", then restart, and then enabling it. but nothing changed...
somewhere suggested to remove two files named "com.apple.Bluetooth..." in /Library/Preferences, and then restart the system, but this not worked for me, too...
I changed the "Secondary Click" to "Click on the left side" but nothing changed and the magic mouse did just clicking and not right-clicking!
I wondered what can I really do to solve this problem?!
    any suggestion is appreciated...

I still use the magic-mouse and still it's not stable. I've found theONLY way to overcome the rightclick is to make sure that you're NOT pressing anywhere else on the mouse (even touching) and only pressing at theTOP right-hand most corner.
It's not the best resolution, but the best that Applecare could provide me with. I thinjk, because it's relatively new due to the new generation of capacitive touch devices that we all get the bugs/flaws.
As like the iPhone, although an EXCELLENT device, and the various versions of OSX, we're going to be plagued eith bugs until a newer review comes out.
The way I found out was to use BOTH tools (MagicPrefs and BetterTouchTool) together, and in both set the Rightclick sensitive area to a near nothing for system wide (non app specific).
It does fail at times on some apps, and takes a few clicks, but 90% of the time it's cleared up.
I somehow think that most developers (and yes its the developers not apple) that forget that we rest out palms on the mouse) and they don't filter out the events forrectly (i.e. a palm on the mouse is seen as a tap). Othere works well, for exmaple I use photoshop, which adapted well to the mouse. The majority of games, and including those (ESPECUALLY THOSE) flash mbased, don't like the mouse at all!

  • Anyone having Bluetooth issues with mouse and keyboard with mountain lion?

Installed mountain lion yesterday and since the restart my bluetooth on my computer is not working properly and it says "bluetooth not available" Any ideas or suggestions on a fix.  I have already tried re installing mountian lion with no luck.

Did you try these steps? They worked for me and a couple other people:
1 - Turn on automatic login: System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General > Click the lock to make changes > If Disable automatic login is checked, uncheck it > Pick your user account and password > Ok.
2 - Shut down your computer.
3 - Turn off your keyboard and mouse: For keyboard and wireless trackpad you hold the power button until the light goes off.
    4 - Start your computer.
5 - Once your desktop has fully loaded turn the keyboard and mouse back on, everything should work.

I was purchase mountain lion for my iMac since it'd released. So I use the USB mouse for trying to proof that my magic mouse was crashed but my USB mouse show as same as the Magic mouse. it can move, right click accept " left click".
not only my "left click", my station dock (the app bar bottom of the screen) can't mafnification as same as before. It zoom then freeze.
OMG! what's the cause of them. I can't do anymore. what's happen with my iMac.
    somebody help me!!!!!!
    thanks, for helping me.
PS. I was prooved by Apple retail store that my magic mouse perfect.

I was having the same problem with my iMac. Couldn't left click with the wireless mouse, i tried all the steps above to no avail. I then tried to use another mouse, this time bluetooth and still had the same problems. I decided to see if my trackpad, which sits in the corner of my desk and never gets used, and then i realize that my cat is lying on top of the trackpad which was causing my problem the whole time.
I hope your fix was as simple as mine.
